Title: My first convention experience
Post by: Smitty the Airship Pirate on August 12, 2009, 04:57:05 AM
Post your memories and photos of your very first convention and share with us your experiences had there.

Just went to my first Anime/Gaming/Nerdom Convention it was called Ikasucon and it was in Fort Wayne, Indiana.  It was pretty sweet, forgot to bring my camera like the idiot I am but I was suprised to see a Pawstar representative there selling merchandise.  It was also \ very furry friendly in fact, just about everyone was wearing ears and or tails of some sort.  Even a few furries in full get up showed up and was greeted with friendly arms.  The cosplays were all good, a few snipers and spys here and there and there was Ikasucon's infamous zombie protest for equal rights again ( I guess last year had about 50 or so zombies protesting.)  Bought some cool merchandise, even a Pawstar set of wolf ears that cover my ears so it keeps me warm in the winter as well.

Some news footage and some photos of it during a search.

The first and only convention i ever went to was small, a bit boring, but had lots of cool things to buy (I spent £150). It's also where i found that i'm actually a rather attractive man.

Yeah, Ikasucon isn't all too known but it sure was fun.  There was L4D competions and as usual a dance dance competition as well.  It certainly made me feel good about myself there, knowing that it was so furry friendly and all.

I'm going to my first con in June 2010. It's an anime one. It's also a small one (less than 2000 people). I can't wait though. ^_^

Which one? May I ask because I too am going to an anime con called Collassalcon in June of 2010, it has a furry petting zoo for charity I believe.

I'm going to PortCon in Portland, ME (hence "Port"Con). Their 'theme' is actually going to be 'Old School', so whoever dresses up will try to pick characters from years ago and the con will involve old school anime stuff.

Ah I see, most of the conventions I go to really don't have themes to them.

I doubt many do have themes, but apparently they do. lol.
I hope I have ears and a tail to wear by that time though. ^_^

Pound Sterling. :O
Where was the convention? I want to go to one, and the nearest one to me would be RBW in London, but it's like £100 and I'm poor. D:

Ah, right.
Now I feel silly. Guess I just gotta look harder for these kind of ones.
Thanks for clearing that up, though. :D
