Title: Makers-of-music \ People In Bands
Post by: tibaltfox on July 15, 2009, 02:57:59 AM
So, there are already threads about those of us who play instruments...
But does anyone here make and release music, either solo or with a band?
And if so, what genre?

I'd be interested to hear : ]

I'll chip in..
I make sort of IDM\Glitch-oriented electronica. Consider myself an amateur still, but I love it : ]

Feel free to let me know what you think, or contribute your own story\link\whatever if you please.

*Raises hand*

I'm in an underground band called "Fire For Affect" (A for Anarchy) but we play a lot of metalcore, hardcore, death metal, and some old school punk. I'm the token hardcore bass player and we mostly play shows in the Toronto area, small venues, that sort of thing. CDs? Not yet, we have songs written but not recorded so really we're live only. We DID have a website but that had a tragic accident resulting in it getting shut down. If you're ever in Toronto, look us up on a telephone pole or wall poster XD

I am!

I'm a solo artist, I write Electronica and Classical/Soundtrack stuff. It's on my Myspace, if anyone wants to message me for the URL.

I'm also in a Metalcore band called "Seize The Day," after the song in The Newsies. We only have one song written, but we're really planning on actually furthering the career after everyone's done with school.  :P

I play guitar, bass and keyboard, and I sing. I focus on extreme metal, black/death/thrash/symphonic/power. I like playing punk and classic rock, as well as classical guitar and piano.

Just posted a topic in search of band mates in the Upstate New York area, so hopefully that will turn some heads.

I'm trying to learn Call of Kthulu by Metallica (on the trumpet), and once I learn that I'm posting it somewhere. I do a lot of jazz stuff too, but I haven't had a reason to record myself yet.

Very cool! I'm in the school jazz band as Bari sax player. Let me know when you get to recording, that sounds interesting! :)

I'd be more than happy to collaborate on that with you guys. I could lay down a bass track if you like while you guys handle the leads on brass. Will vocals be involved? If so, and either of you would be too shy to do so, I'd be more than happy to do so. Unless the plan is to have one play the vocal track and the other handle the rhythm. Anyway, keep me posted on the goings on.
