If you want to put up an avatar picture, you go to Profile, then on the side click Forum Profile Information, then you can choose a picture from a URL or upload one.
The size that the picture should be is in the Forum Rules thread.

Many forums have been dead.  Nice to see a live one.  I started a comic and with dead and unfriendly forums, it's hard.
