Title: Re-writing History
Post by: Scyler on May 05, 2009, 11:00:17 PM
The year is 1355, war has broken out in England against their supposed ally, France. England has began to move troops into France, hoping to reach the castle and out it under seige. The country of Germany sees this as a prime opportunity to attack England while the main portion of their army is in France. The Country of Spain sees their enemy, the French, under attack and decides to catch them while they're occupied with England.

You are a the leader of a section an army for the country of your choice. Choose your type of unit(Soldier, Archer, Magician, Healer), your weapon of choice(sword, lance, axe, bow and arrows, rod, staff, or wand) and your weight/thickness of armor(none, light, medium, heavy). You may also have a backup weapon(dagger, shortsword, throwing knives). For magicians, choose your preference of magic(fire, wind, ice, earth, electricity, darkness). Healers can restore a unit's health. All healers are able to weild light magic, for some measure of defense. Now, you are not only limited to your preference in magic, but you can't be outstandingly good with many magicks.

You may have multiple charachters in this RP. However, all charachters must be in the same unit. They can be different classes, but they must stick together.

Like all wars, death is a major factor. The bonus of multiple characters is that, if need be, they can be sacrificed to buy the others some time. Don't throw their lives away though, be sure you have a good reason for letting them die. There is NO RESURRECTION in this RP. When they die, they stay dead.

Entry forms will be in the OOC thread.

Larsen stared out a window of the castle, viewing what would soon be a field of death and bloodshed. "Germany... They would attack us while our forces are in France..." He snarled as he saw the German standard waving in the wind. He wrapped a paw around his lance and glared out at the field of green, spanning the distance between the two armies. It was a very lush and green field. The grass was soft, the trees were uncannily placed in what were almost exact increments, there were shrubs and bushes with plump berries and the whole field seemed peaceful. "I fear mother earth will not forgive us for destroying such a beautiful work of art..." he said glumly.

Tharren walked up to Larsen, gently plucking his bowstring to create a soft but sharp twanging sound. "Hey, cheer up, Liutenant. It's not us that mother earth will curse. We're trying to protect this land. If anything, the approaching German army will be the cursed ones..." He patted Larsen on the back and leaned up against the window. He closed his eyes and breathed deeply before saying, "Come on, Liutenant, let's go see if we can find our magician friend. I'm sure he'd like to see us before we head out into war."

Larsen sighed and turned from the window. "Yeah, I bet he'd like that. Well, what are we waiting for? Let's go see him." Larsen then walked down the hallway and towards the Mage's Guild.

"Wait up, Liutenant!" Tharren called out as he followed his leader and best friend.

ixlander grimly checked over his weaponry and armor. he would be heading out to lead his troop against the germans. the big armored bear cracked his knuckles as his fingers rubbed a cloth over his armor, shining it up while scowering away any rust. the large bear set the plate mail on the table and the bear rose up in his chamber's. he went over to his armor rack and pulled on his armor pants, and boots. he picked up the recently cleaned chest piece and slid it over his dark head. he strapped the shoulder pieces into place, then strapped the bracers and gaiuntlets on. the bear took his monster lance from the wall, strapped on his sword and hung his shield from his back. then the grim commander walked out of his room to ready his charge for war.

ixlandria ironforge was grooming her mount, a sturdy chestnut, strong enough to support her while charging into battle, when the large brown bear heard another set of armored boots walking into the stables. guessing who it was he grinned a bit and said slyly "hello brother, shouldn't you be going over strategy with the other commander's?" the armored bear said standing up and turning to face her older brother

Ixlander stopped short slightly when he heard his sister's words. a smile played his his graying muzzle. "i should, but that dosen't mean i have to" he said grimly. he smiled a bit. "you should be resting, we may fight any day now, you don't want to fall out of the saddle from exaugstion, again." the larger bear said remembering the winter his sister fell from her mount into the snow during training.

"that was a one time deal" the slightly smaller bear said quickly grinning. "if we are going to go to war soon, you know as well as i do, that you, me and john will make it through it alive, we always have, why should things be diffrent this time around." the bear said grimly, she knew as well as her brother did about going into war and the outcomes.

"i know sister, that reminds me" the older bear said walking over to a wooden piller. "you cen get down now jhon" he said calmly knocking his metal plated fist into the beam, causing the rafter's to shake slightly, making a brown small monket fall down from the rafters.

the agile monkey landed on the smaller bear's shoulders. "you could have just said get down, you didn't have to nearly take down the building" the small monkey said complaintivly slightly, smiling a bit. he hopped down from ironforge the younger to the ground. he stood up to his full height of 5' 3" and leaned on the small fence that housed the donkeys, the pack animals too small to carry as much as the bigger mounts could.

"noted" the large bear said slightly smiling. "this is just like old times, well, ixlandria was right, i should go talk to the other commander's of the english before tomarrow" the leutenant said "good bye my friends. i hope i see you before the battle" the bigger armored bear said turneing and walking out of the stable waving to his friends.

ixlandria grinned at her brother. "bye brother" she called, she turned to jhon, i'll see you later friend. may fortune guild your arrows." the bear said patting her mount on the head and walking out.

Larsen and Tharren made their way to the Mages guild. Larsen looked at Tharren before sighing deeply. "Tharren. I just want you to know that, whatever happens tomorrow, I'm glad that you've always stuck by me."

Tharren smiled cheekily and replied, "And I'm glad you've always been there for me, Liutenant." He walks up to the door of the Mages Guild and knocks loudly. After a moment, a young racoon opens the door. "May I help you, sire?" the cub asks honorably. Tharren smiled warmly before replying, "Yes, would you mind taking us to see Scyler? We wish to devise a strategy for tomorrow with him." The boy bowed politely and ushered the two inside. "Yes, come on in. I'll take you to him now."

Up in his room, Scyler stared out the window at the sun, watching it slowly drift lower in in the sky. His sister, Mynerva, walked up behind him, putting a hand on his shoulder. "Brother," she said, "I do not wish to go to war. I'd rather be at peace with Germany." Scyler sighed deeply and closed his eyes. "I know, Mynerva. But we must fight. We can't just turn our backs to our king, our country. We must fight and give no quarter."

Mynerva sighed deeply and looked at the floor. "I know, but..."

"But nothing. Mynerva, they will not show you the same mercy that we would show them. They are here to invade, to kill ruthlessly. They will make no prisoners and give no quarter unless under terms of surrender by our king." He looked her in the eyes, warmth seeming to radiate from his face. Yet, there was also a cold harshness in his eyes. "Mynerva, you cannot go into battle with doubtful thoughts. They will only cloud your judgement and end up getting you killed. If you don't want to fight, don't. I'm not going to force a woman, much less a child, to fight."

Mynerva looked into Scyler's eyes. She saw care and love. "Scyler..." she said in almost a whisper, "I... I'll fight, Scyler. I'll fight for the honor of our name and our country." She noticed Scyler smile and then hugged him. "Thank you, brother... I needed that."

The racoon cub knocked on Scyler's door. Tharren and Larsen waited patiently outside. "Come in!" they heard a voice inside say. The cub opened the door and led the two inside. "Master Scyler, Mistress Mynerva. You have visitors. Master Larsen and Master Tharren."

"Welcome," Scyler said, "Please have a seat." He motioned for them to sit at a small table in the corner of the room.

"SIR, Messenger on the horizon!" said Gabag's right hand man, Julius. "Let them pass then, if they try anything, rip them to shreds." the grizzled sgt. announced to his unit. The messanger rode into the warcamp, straight to the Sergeants unit. " My lord, if I may be quick, but the English are preparing their defenses on the border to Yorktown (can it be Yorktown?), they have a large body of infantry and archers, supported by mages of all types." Thinking, Grbag put a hand on his blade, looking out towards the large English Castles. Built to stop all but the most powerful shot, he expected many of his troops would die in the siege.

(Yorktown is fine.)

Scyler watched as his two comrades took a seat at the table. "Now, friends, what do you need?"

Tharren looked to Larsen and nodded. Larsen nodded back and turned to Scyler and Mynerva. "We need to devise a strategy. If we don't have some sort of plan when we go out there, well be overwhelmed quickly." Larsen watched Scyler as he sat in silence. He stared out the window and said, "Well, if you're looking for a strategy, you should be meeting with the other high ranked officers, not your subordinate. However, I will help you devise a strategy with them. So, let's go." Scyler stood up and put his robes on top of his civilian clothing. "Come, Minerva, we need to do all we can to prepare." Mynerva nodded and pulled her cloak about her shoulders. "Yes, brother. Let's go."

The four soon left the Mages Guild and made their way to the meeting hall. When they reached the hall, Larsen stopped the group and ordered Mynerva and Tharren to stay behind. "I'm sorry, my friends, but we need to strategize more efficiently." Scyler turned back to his Liutenant and remarked lightly, "The more minds we have, the greater our possibility or devising an unbreakable strategy. Besides, Mynerva has all the brains that I do. Please, Liutenant, let them in." Larsen sighed and motioned for them to enter. "You have a valid point, Scyler." He then walked inside and sat at the round table to strategize with the other officers. "We still need Ixlander here, sir." Tharren whispered to his commanding officer. "That we do, Tharren, that we do..."

ixlander, after leaving his close friends, went on a quick jog around the inside wall of the castle, in full body armor. he had learned if you made your body accostom to touture in training, it would hold up better during the real thing when that skill was needed most. after his jog he went back to his chamber's. he quickly washed and changed into common clothes. the large bear shook out his wet short hair, drying the short locks quickly before he grabbed his chest plate mail and sword. he had to look the part of leutenant, and there was always time to train. when he got outside of his chambers he called a castle servent to his side, "please find ixlandria ironforge, and johnathan ironheart. tell them to get ready and meet me at the confrence hall straight away." the big knight finished as the small coyote nodded and ran off through the palace. with that done, the large slightly armored bear walked to the confrence hall to discuss the impending war.

ixlandria was just finishing washing up after she finished with her own short training period when she got a knock on her door. she shook out her short hair and opened it to find a palace servent. "yes?" she asked with raised brows as the messenger relayed the message. "i'm sorry miss, but i can't find sir ironheart." the young coyote said quietly. "don't worry, knowing john, he'll be at the dining hall" the bear said. she ruffled the youngling's hair and took a silver piece out of her belt purse and gave it to him. "thank you for the message" with that ixlandria closed the solid door and looked around, she changed into common clothes, and put on her chest armor, and strapped her sword to her waist also. with that she went out of her room.

john shook himself awake when he heard a small coyote voice talking to him, he listened. and thanked the messenger with a silver coin of his own and stood up. he was already in common clothes, he had his sword with him. the monkey nodded to the messenger and shook out his head and finger combed it into place. then he took off at a trot to the meeting place.

ixlander smiled when he saw his two friends come over to the hall. "come on guys, i need you now." he said and opened the door and all 3 of them walked inside.

"Ah, Gabag, good to see you ahead of schedule...my army was moving too slow, so I went on ahead of them, and my 2nd in command is leading them here as I speak..." I said as I approached my colleague...

The atmosphere inside the meeting hall was electric. Everyone was trying to have their strategy heard so they might get credit if it was successful. The king of England, a lion with graying fur, rubbed at his forehead as the commotion only got louder. Scyler's keen eyes spotted this. Scyler then stood on top of the table and said softly, "Will everybody please take your seats and quiet down? We're trying to be civilized here..." When the commotion only got louder, Scyler bared his fangs. He then slammed his footpaw on the table and bellowed, "HEY! SIT DOWN AND SHUT YOUR MOUTHS!!!" Scyler let out a deep sigh, hopped off the table and bowed to his king. "The floor is yours, m'lord..." The king was greeted with complete silence.

The king stood from his seat and pronounced loudly, "Now, because you are all aware of our dire situation, you also know that we need a decent strategy. Now, if everyone will present their strategies," The room erupted into chaos again. The king slammed the hilt of his sword against the table and shouted, "SILENCE!!!" he then proceeded, "Everyone will present their strategies one at a time. Not a single strategy will be chosen alone. It will be best to take bits and pieces from each and use them to make a nearly flawless strategy. Now, we will begin with Sir Larsen Giles. Liutenant, please, begin."

Larsen stood and then stepped aside as he let Scyler take his place at the chair to voice his strategy. "My lord, Scyler has come up with the strategy for us." The king looked as if to protest, but Larsen cut him off. "My lord, Scyler is the brightest mind in this brigade. Please, allow him to speak. He may just have the strategy you're looking for." The king hesitantly allowed Scyler to speak. Tharren and Mynerva smiled as Scyler stood to speak.

"My superiors and my equals, I come to you with a plan for tomorrow's battle. However, it requires we take action tonight. If we are to use this strategy, then we must begin mobilizing units within the hour." A loud commotion was about to begin, but Scyler raised his right paw for silence. "What my strategy requires is for us to split up our army at a 40% and 60% split. What this means is that 40% of our army will stay to defend our castle. The other 60% will leave the castle and take refuge over in the forest just east of the castle. From there, under the cover of darkness, we will flank the German army and catch them with a deadly and effective pincer maneuver. This will require us to blacken our armor and weapons so we don't reflect any light when we flank them. Now, the 40% staying at the castle should be enough to withstand a seige for an indefinite amount of time. The other 60% may experience moderate losses. But don't fear, we've sent word by a messenger falcon to our army in France to send us some reinforcements. They will be here within two weeks time. If we can last that long and still cause significant losses to the German army, then we can win this. I know that this plan is somewhat risky, but if it works, victory will be ours. Now, the 40% staying at the castle will be mainly archers and mages. However, if they manage to break in, we will have our heaviest armored soldiers guarding the gate with a line of regular soldiers behind them. This section of units will consist of two rows or heavily armored knights, many rows of medium armored soldiers, the rest will be mages and archers. The other 60% of the troops will be the other units we have left. Most of our heavy units will only slow us down, so they'll be tasked with guarding the gate. However, if they can move quickly in their armor, like Sir Ixlander here, they will be allowed in the flanking group. Now, we will still take archers and mages with us. My master's brigade, Sir Larsen's, will be part of the 60%. We are a nice blend of the different types of fighters needed to flank the German army. Other brigades like ours will be chosen as well. Of course, we will need a few powerful healers with us as well. This, is necessary. Now, we will wait for three days after the Germans attack. That way, they will have already expected to be flanked. Then we catch them when they aren't expecting it. This will cause them to suffer heavy losses and have nowhere to run. Now, if the flanking is successful, I want there to be a full scale attack launched from the castle. Our mages that have specialized in summoning will summon the great fire spirit, Agni, as well as the great ice spirit, Rahab. This will allow us to completely obliterate their army." There were nods and murmurs of approval, but also sighs and mumblings or disapproval. "However, if this is our plan, then we must go now, before the enemy can see just how many units we still have left at this castle. If he sees how many we have, then this plan is guaranteed to fail. Now, what say ye to this plan?" Syler stood and held his staff out, laying on the table. "I'm for it."

The king eyes him warily and said objectively, "Youngling, give your superiors a chance to present their plans as well. The more ideas we have, the better it can be." Scyler blushed in frustration at being called a youngling, but bowed to his king nonetheless and replied, "If it is your will, m'lord, the so be it." The king nodded and then looked towards Ixlander. "Sir Ixlander, I believe you are one of our more seasoned warriors. What would your strategy be.?"

ixlander and his friends listened to the young tiger's plan. the large bear nodded slightly thinking over the plan. he looked up when the king spoke to him. he stood and bowed to the king. the largest bear motioned for john to stand with him. the large bear heard some mutterings around the room. "hey, he might not be training with heavy armor and swords man ship like the rest of my troop, but I'll bet 5 gold pieces that he knows this terrain better than any one here. and you men know it." the bear growled dangerously to the mumbling fur's and humans around him, they all quieted when they heard what his growl was about. the large armored bear nodded to the small monkey next to him.

at his best friend's nod the small brown furred monkey reached into his tunic and pulled out a large rolled up piece of parchment. the monkey set it on the table and rolled it out, it was a complete map of the area. "I've checked the maps in the library of this area, some spots were blank from being unmapped, i checked out those areas and mapped them myself." the monkey said. he wasn't a famous soldier, but he was a Noble's son, very respected. he had already been sent out to map some of the new terrain around him before the war started.

ixlander nodded to the monkey in a silent thanks. he then let his friend explain the area to the people and furs around them.

john smiled and bent over the map. he picked up one small finger and placed it on the map. "our scouts have reported the Germans are camped here" he said putting his finger down lightly. "they picked a good defensible position, they are in a field, with a mountain side at their back. the field will make it hard for our troops to sneak up on them, there is about 20 yards between the tree line and either side of the camp." the monkey started pointing out the field in question. "the mountain is steep, possibly steep enough for a few lightly armored ones to scramble up to the top, but no mounts or soldier's should be even get close. we can have archer's take the escaping climbers down if they get high enough. but that takes care of that side." the monkey sat down in his overly large chair again.

ixlander patted his friend on teh shoulder. "as you can see sneaking up on them might be difficult to say the least, now I'm not saying the pincer move is bad, i just think it needs a bit of work to make sure we don't lose many lives." the bear said pointing to the area directly in front of the german's camp. "i suggest that my troop, with some support mages, get close to the camp, then we go and slam right into the camp." he held up his massive hand when he heard some people start to talk over him. talking about slaughter. he waited till the room was silent once more, staring grimly at the people talking. "my sister will try to explain this to you" the large bear said nodding to the slightly smaller bear

ixlandria stood up and nodded to her brother. now she knew why he wanted her and john here. "sir's our troop is extremely strong, nearly all of us heavily armored and equally so with weapons, my brother trains them with that." the large bear said nodding. "now, heavy doesn't make a good troop, not all the way any way. speed is also very important, as many of you men know." she nodded respectfully to the room, including the king. "but our troop isn't just heavy, we are fast. i hand select our mounts, strong and reliable to get us where we must go and fast. strong horses, i breed them and i help train them when i can. i also train each soldier in our troop about horse man ship, mounted battle, and general riding work. our troops can get around fast on our horses, and effectively ride and fight from horse back." the big bear finished and nodded.

ixlander patted his sister on the shoulder. "our troop is nearly all heavy soldier's, schooled by me personally in heavy armor and heavy weaponry, they can run, fight and wield heavy weapons on the ground and still win in a fight. they are strong and reliable. i hand pick the people that join my troop." he said looking around. "we are fast enough to keep up with the pincer formation, and we can take a few good hits. if we drive in, the camp will be confused and scared, they probably didn't plan to wake up one night with 100 heavily armed soldiers on huge mounts crashing down on them." the bear said standing up straight again. "my troop is strong, but even we aren't invincible, once we go in there they will be startled, but not for long. when we get in there, the rest of the pincer formation has to close in and help take them down, or else we won't get out alive." the largeest fur in the room nodded. "what i'm saying is that the pincer formation might not be able to sneak up on the camp alone, my troop could be the distraction that could get the rest of the army withen striking range. we can hold the line and function in battle, distracting the army while the pincer's set up and close around them. i fear with out a distraction many of the troops in the pincer's will die." the largest bear said grimly. he then looked at the king. "that is my suggestion and input, your highness." the huge bear said bowing slightly to the old lion, and taking a seat.

"Ah, Gabag, good to see you ahead of schedule...my army was moving too slow, so I went on ahead of them, and my 2nd in command is leading them here as I speak..." I said as I approached my colleague...
"Ahhh it's good to see you old friend, while your here, let's go over the preparations against the English dogs." Taking out a map of the local area he points to points of interest. "These woods here, they seem a likely place to stage an ambush, I was thinking having troops go into there, but they would have no way of knowing if there are English already in the woods." continuing, he says "If we stay in camp too long however, the English might charge with their heavier units, with out heavy units of their own, losses would be extreme, however with our speed, we may be able to outrun their heavier units, if they charge, lead them to the main army for a trap, with my unit acting as skirmishers for the main body, separating their heavies from the main army is crucial, for without heavy armor, their mages and archers are vulnerable to a cavalry charge."
Pointing towards little bumps on the map he continues "These markings signify hills or mountains, very difficult for mounts to climb, and hard work for a human, I recommend stationing our ranged specialists up there to give suppressing fire, and while they attempt to cover themselves, we charge, sweeping their units in a rout, with would most likely result in more deaths for the English." Signaling one of his men over, he hands him the plans and says "Take these plans to the main body of Lord Felix, he needs to know about this so when we draw the English out, he won't be surprised by their charge and our rout."

Mynerva stood and said loudly, "Ixlander, that is a pretty well thought plan. But, what if they're already expecting us to do that? We won't know for sure until we actually do battle. However, what if we thought outside the box on this one. What if we did something they would never expect. What if we got them with the pitfall trap. We have many skilled earth-style mages. They could easily make pitfalls in the plain en route to the castle that wouldn't be visible to many. Even so, we have many mages also skilled in magicks to trick the mind. We could easily set incantations on the holes to make them appear as solid ground. Then, when someone falls in, the pitfall might still be able to claim another. But, there would still be some that would notice those. So, what we do is... We also make normal pitfalls. However, we make some to be fake while others are real. Now, the pitfall traps will not kill the enemy, but only trap them. This will slow down their advances and allow us to pick them off easily with our archers and mages. Now, to cause them to charge will be the tricky part. Thats why we bait them. They'll originally be expecting a trap if the bait is obvious enough. But, if we also set up a fake trap that is almost painfully obvious, then we can hit them with the real trap that they'll be obliviously led right into."

Tharren smiled and took over from there. "The fake trap will be our brigade. We will be hiding by the brushline and the edge of the forest. They will see us and notice some sort of trap. However, we must also be prepared if they plan to charge the fake trap and destroy the units there. So, another backup trap will be this. This forest is on a hill angled towards where they would charge us. So, we would have large boulders ready to roll down the hill and crush them. Plus, our earth-style mages can enchant these boulders to detonate and send sharp rock shards everywhere. Now, the velocity in one of these shards can pierce a half inch thick plate of iron. This will take out all but their heaviest units in range. Now, if they try to go around, we use a little invention my dear friend Scyler made."

Scyler stood again and showed what looked to be a wooden frame. He held it out and picked up an apple. He tossed the apple in the air and caught it. "You see that this is an ordinary apple, right? Watch..." He dropped the apple into the frame of wood. The apple seemed to fall through unphased. But when it hit the table, the apple split into 9 slices. There were murmurs of awe and disbelief. Scyler then gel the frame up. "I call it micro-wire. It's thin enough not to be seen, but thick enough to cut and not break. All we need to do is put three lines of this around certain spots in the forest. We will mark these spots on a map so we can safely take them down after the war. Now, I can weave enough micro-wire to fill the jungle in an hour. But, I will only do so if this is indeed the plan we are to go with."

ixlander frowned and sighed. he lowered his head slightly. his sister watched him, she knew that look better than any body. ixlander shook his head again and settled back to think. 'this sickens me, i started fighting when all you needed was strength speed, and strategy. now we have magics, and new inventions that are outshining the warrior's, the girth and force of the army. the men that can take hits and keep on fighting. we are getting shown up by fancy parlor tricks and fancy weaponry.' the large bear thought grimly to himself. "what if we had a camp out there, instead of us crashing into them we wait and let them come to us." the gigantic bear said. "the camp could be build and set up to house, maybe about 5 people. but in reality we have some of my troops and some of these new mages. the enemy will think it to be a simple scouting party. filled with a few people who they could pump for information or info about the area." the bear said standing up again, "we could have the camp be close to the enemy's, setting us up for an ambush, they could see it as the enemy having no idea where they were stationed. or we could change the size of the camp, with many empty tents and large fires, we can make a phantom army or 200 or more soldier's, we can even have the mages conjure up some threatening looking soldiers" he said shrugging. "we can set up the traps all around the enemy's camp keeping them in place if we stay with the pincer formation attack. they would have to be cloaked, or the enemy would be angry as soon as they saw one and would storm out around teh camp looking for the people that got those holes there." the large bear sat down again. "if the Germans try to ambush the camp we can take them down, or if the army is big enough i can have the rest of my troop within 2 minutes of riding distance. out of range for enemy attention, but close enough to help. the camp of soldier's can make a lot of noise and bring more soldier's to fight us, when the army realise what is going on then we spring the pincer trap." the large bear said sighting, "but that is only if they actually decide to sleep at night instead and play like normal soldier's would. we should still set up those traps all around the enemy's camp if we can" he said then looked at john. "but i also believe that it would be a good idea to send out scouts to pinpoint the location of the enemy. Johnathan here, is in charge of the scouts and archer's in my troop. he hand picks them and teaches them himself. they would gather info that we need, if we know where they are, we can set traps and ambushes if we must. but then again mages could probably do the job too." the bear said sitting down and folding his thick arms over his massive chest.

Larsen stood up and nodded. "So it is decided. This is the plan we use. Mynerva and Scyler will accompany Johnathan on the scouting mission. If Johnathan were to be attacked, we could lose vital information. But with a Mage and a quick swordswoman, he will have decent prtection. The Swiftclaw siblings have uncanny speed equal to my own. This will allow them to easily keep the pace with Johnathan. Plus, if Mynerva is out in the field, she can choose the best spot for her traps. So, if these three are sent out to scout, then it will be more effective." He turned to Scyler and Mynerva and ordered, "Gear up, you two. You've got a mission for tonight."

Scyler and Mynerva stood, saluted, and ran to their respective rooms for their gear.

ixlander frowned even harder when the tiger's ran off. the bear leaned forward. "if i may, I'd prefer to send john with another scout from my troop, john can handle himself in the field on his own, but i fear for the tigers' well being, also if anything happens my scout will be able to report back to us indefinitely. allow me to send another of my scouts with them please your highness" the huge bear said bowing slightly to the king.

Johnathan listened to the other lieutenant talk, he immediately didn't like this plan, there had already been a few traitors in the English army this year. he didn't even know these tiger's, having them watch his back put him on edge. he would accept the assignment, because that was what soldier's did. when his friend intervened on his be half john could have kissed the mountain of a bear on the head. "if i may sir's, i have a scout who could easily keep up with us, and if worst came to worst she could get back to the castle faster than anybody could dream of sir" the monkey piped up, keeping his voice level and professional.

ixlandria listened to the proceedings, letting her brother and fiend talk, she felt the same way as john about letting him go with two stranger's into the woods. she nodded when she heard her brother talk. 'your always on the same page as us brother' she thought to herself. she wished she could go with john in the field, but even with her speed she wouldn't be able to keep up with the agile monkey. so she would stay behind and make sure the 100 soldier's were ready to ride hard and fast. sense john would be out in the field. she would take charge of the 119 archer's and scouts that would stay behind, that was of course if the king would allow another scout to watch john's back out there.

Tharren looked to his liutenant before standing and voicing some little known facts. "You underestimate the Swiftclaws. You see, there is legend about their bloodline. The Swiftclaw family originated many decades ago. They were once hailed as one of the most powerful families in England. Not because of riches and influence, but because of sheer power. They are said to have have exponential powers. Whether this is truth or myth, I cannot say. However, the legend tells that a member of this bloodline can double his strength if another of his blood is there. The strength will triple for each if three are together, and so on. Thus, the three would have the power of nine. So, when these two are together, they actually have the power of four. Strength isn't all that is increased. Mental processing and speed are also improved. So, if there were 40 Swiftclaws in one area, the total strength would be of 1600 soldiers. The Germans realized this a long time ago and sent assassins to kill them while they slept. The assassins were efficient and deadly, not making a sound as each member of the family was silently killed. Thirty-six members of the family were killed so far. The only reason that Scyler and Mynerva are alive is because one assassin got careless and made himself known. This roused the remaining 4 family members. The mother and father fought valiantly, but were given fatal wounds. While they clung to life, Scyler was quick and still had the power of four. Even though he was a child of 6 years, he had incredible strength due to his blood inheritance. This allowed him to finish off the two remaining assassins without being seriously injured. The rest, we all know about. Scyler and Mynerva were found lying in pools of their family's blood, tears streaming down their faces." Tharen then turned to Larsen again. "Care to take over, Liutenant?"

"Not a problem." Larsen continued, "Now, because Scyler and Mynerva know who was behind the assassination, they have sworn to defeat the ones responsible. Also, because we have had recent turncoats in our army, I have heard rumors that these two siblings are spies, traitors, or assassins lying in wait. Those are lies, nothing more. Besides, I don't think these two would join up with the country responsible for the brutal murders of their family. But, my lord, whether or not you will allow my two units to accompany Ixlander's scouts is up to you. I will not push the matter any further." After finishing, Larsen sat down and whispered to Tharren, "Was the history lesson necessary?"

Tharren just smiled lightly and nodded.

The king sat on his throne, and pondered everything that had been said. He weighed the pros and cons of everything. He then announced his ruling. "Ixlander, your two scouts will go scout as planned. However, after the recently presented information, I believe that having the two tiger siblings go along as well would be the safer course of action if something were happen. While these soldiers may not know each other yet, this will cause them to trust each other. If they plan to advance in the ranks later but not be able to trust each other, then this army will be divided. This will not only build trust between them, but also between both Larsen's and Ixlander's brigades." The king could see the protest in Ixlander's, Ixlandria's and Johnathans eyes. "I'm sorry if this displeases you, but this is the safest course."

ixlander grimaced. "sir, i don't worry about strength, we won't need strength if we won't be detected. Jonathan is my best at traversing any terrain with out being detected. my second scout is just a hair under him in that respect. they won't be caught. I'm sure the swiftclaws' will be fine but adding more member's will just increase their chances of being detected." the large bear said. "i have nothing against them, but I'm being practical here, one person is best for scouting or recon. 2 is OK if the 2 people know how each other move and can work together silently, they must share a bond that siblings have to truly be invisible together. three hasn't been nearly as successful. and this is talking about a squad that had been working together for years." ixlander said. he looked down and up again at the king. "i implore you sir, don't make me send my friends out there when they will undoubtedly be discovered." the bear said "this a recipe for disaster and deep down i know you know it sir"

Johnathan stood up, "if i may sir, could we not just spell a necklace to communicate vision, and and earring for sound. i can get out there and the swiftclaws' can see and hear what i hear. we can have another set for my second scout." the monkey said nodding. "we have been working together for 7 years, my second in command. we won't get caught, and if we do, she will be able to get back in record time and that will be that." he shrugged. "no reason to put them in danger when we can do this ourselves."

ixlander nodded to his friend. "we have nothing against them, but this is a better way sir." the large bear said. looking at the old lion.

The king looked at Ixlander and Johnathan. "Well, if you are so sure of yourselves and your abilities, then you may go alone. But for the love of God, just get on with the bloody mission! We've wasted so much time with stubbornness that, if we go by how good you say you are, this mission probably would already be finished! Now, all of you get out. Meeting adjourned!" The aging lion got up from his chair and muttered under his breath, "I'm getting too old for this ****..."

Larsen and Tharren promptly left the meeting hall, heading off to meet back up with Scyler and Mynerva. Tharren sighed and said, "Wow, the king looked angry. You think he was genuinely mad or just thoroughly annoyed?"

Larsen shook his head and kept walking, "It's hard to say. Anyways, at least if all goes wrong now, we won't risk losing the last of a dying bloodline." Larsen continued to talk like that until he was sure that they were out of the range of the others. He then pulled Tharren closer and whispered soft enough to where only Tharren could hear, "We're still going to send Scyler and Mynerva. The other two just won't know it." He then pulled away from Tharren and winked. "That'll ensure the safety, according to Ixlander. Pairs are more efficient." he said with a dry chuckle. He ran into Scyler and Mynerva as he was walking up the stairs. He gave them the signal to turn around and walk back up. They complied with out making a sound. When they made it to Mynerva's room, the four went inside and sat down. Larsen signalled to Scyler to erect a soundproof barrier. Scyler did, making sure no sound came in and no sound went out. "It's up, Sire. But why all of the secrecy?"

Larsen looked to the siblings and said, "There's been a change of plans. Ixlander's scouts will be going alone. King's orders. But, my orders are for you to trail them and not get caught. Scyler, this means no robes. Wear dark clothing to blend in with the night. Mynerva, same goes for you. Wear darker clothing. You're already wearing light enough clothing. Now, if they seem to notice you, I want you to quit pursuing them. Run back a ways and have Scyler make a portal. Jump through quickly and close it. After 30 seconds or so, check the area out using magic, make sure they are gone. Then, continue to follow them. You will be their invisible bodyguards. Their guardian angels. Now, go get re-equipped. Take only the bare-necessities. Now, go." With that, Tharren and Larsen stood up and left the room.

Scyler and Mynerva looked at each other, nodded, and took only what they needed. "Lets go." Scyler said in a soft whisper. He dropped the soundproof barrier and climbed out the window. Looking to see what he could land on, he gave a disappointed sigh. All that was there was a small oak tree about 15 feet away. He looked to Mynerva, took her hand and jumped with her, aiming for the tree's two largest branches. Scyler landed on one, only making an barely audible thumping sound. Mynerva landed in the same fashion, not making a sound. Together, they jumped out of the tree and and ran out of the castle walls undetected. They found a Dutch off to the side of the main road and hid out in it, waiting to see when the two scouts from Ixlander's group would be leaving out.

ixlander rose from his chair followed by his friends. he bowed to the king. and walked out. he was very nervous about the king, he hid it well, no one other than john and his sister would recognize it for what it was. once he got out of the meeting hall he turned to john. "pack up for scouting, you know what you need and meet me in the stables." the large bear said, he stopped short "wait, take a short bow, you need speed over power in this battle" ixlander said as the monkey nodded and ran off to his chambers. ironforge the elder turned to his sister. "wake Trish, no bow, darkest and most flexible armor. meet in teh stables." he said as the big bear nodded and ran off into the night. ixlander rubbed his face and went to his rooms to pick up the spelled necklaces and earrings.

ixlandria ran through the night winding her ways through the inner workings of the palace. she saw how worried her brother was for the king. her brother saw the king as a father figure, his highness used to be friend with her father. ixlander looked up to the old lion, he would gladly march into the gates of hell and back for only 3 people, her, john and the king. ixlandria knew this because she knew her brother. she stopped in front of the solid wooden door that lead to her friend's room. the large bear knocked quietly on the door. the meeting had lasted a few hours, the sun had only set a few minutes ago.ixlandria smiled as the door opened to reveal her friend.

Johnathan jogged silently to the stables. a short bow tied to his back. 3 and a half feet in length, short but the wood was stiff, a much stiffer draw, but the punch would be just as great as his normal bow, and this one is less unwieldy. he was wearing dark leather boots, bracer's gauntlets, and a leather chest piece. he stalked into the stable and looked around. he saw ixlander by his mount, thunder hoof. a black gelding with flecks of yellow on his feet and nose.

the lithe dark brown gibbon easily jogged into the stables, with ixlandria behind her. the smaller ape was dressed lightly, dark breeches, a dark flexible leather vest. fingerless leather gloves, and no boots. her 2 foot long tail easily dropped behind her, held off the ground. she held no weapons save for a small dagger at her waist and and the razor claws on her hands. she walked over to ixlander and john. "sir, ixlandria said it was important?" the gibbon asked the humongous bear.

ixlander looked at the ape. "it is" he said and quickly explained the situation to the small girl ape. after she was brought up to speed ixlander gave one necklace, and one earring to john and one set to Trish. "put these on, this was the mages from the meeting hall can see and hear you with out being put into danger." he said turning away for a second. when he heard a squeak from the girl

"sir, i don't mean to be disrespectful, but why were you set on not having them come?" the primate asked. she knew about the teaming and such, but she felt that this was something else. Trish had been with john and the ironforge siblings for 7 years. she knew them well, and would give her life for them, but she wasn't the best friends with them, except for john, but he was like a brother to her sense her own brother died shortly before she was found by the kind bears and monkey.

ixlander frowned for a bit. "i have nothing against them, but that doesn't mean i totally trust them, i don't know, it's just a feeling i get with mages, and how they came out of no where, and where they were." the bear swung his head around to the girl. "they haven't fought in almost any battle, they are young, and they were sitting in on the war counsel, sitting withen leaping distance of his highness and as far as i have seen they haven't done anything for this kingdom." the bear said grimly he paused and then shook his head. "also, i know you two won't get caught, and if you do... well, you remember our pact." the large bear said softly. "we don't need them for protection, and if they get caught, well that would be one less family fighting for the kingdom." the bear said. no reason for them to die when they don't need to take the chance.

the four friends in the room and blinked and looked down slightly. shortly after they had all met, john and the ironforges got a rune written on each of them, a spell that if they got captured the spell would wipe their memories, rendering them useless to the enemy. after the original three had met the gibbon they had her swear with them. just as all the soldier's and troops in ixlander's company were sworn in also. when they were interviewed for joining up with the armored bear, they each swore a solemn pact that they would get the rune, and know and accept the responsibilities of it. they all knew some of them might not come back. it was a fact of life. every member who had signed up agreed almost right away. this course was the safest for the entire country as a whole. almost subconscienciously all 4 warriors rubbed the back of their necks where the rune was written under the hair at the nape of the neck. the memories can't be recovered unless a new specific rune is written on top of the old one. a specific rune that only ixlander, john, ixlandria and the king knew.

ixlander looked the two archer's in the eye. "john, Trish, you both know the danger's of this mission. we have some to gain but much more to lose if you two are found out. i ask of you as a friend to be safe. always watch your backs, keep your mind and senses open to the world around. you can't afford anyone to detect or follow you, on our side or theirs. be careful you two." with that the large bear embraced john while ixlandria embraced Trish. after a quick squeeze they traded hugs. and stepped apart.

ixlandria mounted up on her horse lightning. a golden horse with black flecks on his feet and nose. the gelding nuzzled his rider affectionately and got ready to ride.

Trish walked and mounted up on her horse. dune, a reddish gelding horse with black flecks on his feet and nose. while john mounted up on his horse. a black gelding with red flecks on his feet and nose. midnight.

ixlander raised his hand and pointed forward. the hand sign to ride. with a start thunder hoof galloped out of teh stables. followed by lightning, midnight and dune. the four horses thundered through the grounds. the sound being masked by the thunder storm brewing over head. the four horses galloped through teh one of the smaller gates leading out of the castle grounds.

As soon as the necklace and earring were put on Trish, Scyler's head exploded in pain. He gripped clumps of grass in the ditch, baring his fangs as he felt wave after wave of pain course through his head. He saw things from someone else's eyes, heards things from their ears. The sensations were just too much for him to bear. He whimpered softly, the pain causing him to writhe and shake uncontrollably. Then, as if it had never even happened, it stopped paining him. He learned that he could easily tap into the information from the necklace and earring as he needed to. He panted softly as he wiped his sweating brow. "Gah, that was brutal..."

Mynerva watched as he writhed silently, covering his mouth when he whimpered too loudly so their position wouldn't be given away. When he quoted down, she made sure he was alright. "Did it work, brother." He smiled weakly and replied, "Yes, now we can see what they are doing and hear as well. We can now follow them more efficiently. He decided to tap into the audio and give it a test run. He smiled when he first heard it work. However, that smiling face turned into one of concentration. Then, it changed to anger. "Ixlander foesn't trust us... He thinks that we've never seen the field of battle. I may not have been through as many battles as he has, but I can assure you he has us mistaken for some wet behind the ears cubs. Well, we will see who is the foolish one in this."

Mynerva took his hand and looked him in the eyes. "Calm down brother. Keep a clear head, right? I believe you told me that earlier today. You need to stay focused on what we came here to do."

Scyler then snorted indignantly, getting out of the ditch and walking back towards the castle. "Scyler!" she said in a mix of a shout and a whisper, "What are you doing?! Get back here!" Scyler kept walking, only signalling for her to follow. "If he wants his two friends severly injured or even killed, so be it. I might be disobeying my Liutenants orders, but I refuse to go against my king. Come on, Mynerva. We're going back to the castle."

She got out of the ditch and sighed. "Scyler, you're strange, you know that?" He laughed and turned back to Mynerva. "You're quite the oddity yourself, sister. Come on, I'll race you home." She stared him in the eyes, laughing softly. "You're on!" They lined up together and ran off to the castle. Running as fast as they could, they ended up running around 65mph. All anyone could see was two orange streaks hurtling through the darkness. The tiger siblings sped right past the two scouts heading out. Mynerva ended up winning and running past Ixlander, causing a large gust of wind to blow over him. Scyler did the same, causing a second gust to hit Ixlander. Both of them came to a screeching halt in front of the stables. Neither of them were even panting or breathing hard. "You won, Mynerva... You won..." Mynerva just smiled and tossed a few strands of hair out of her face. "You actually kept up better this time. You may be the stronger and smarter one, but I'm the faster and prettier one." Scyler just laughed at the last part.

all four horses galloped out of the gates, they didn't stop thundering through the land until they reached the edge of the woods. john and Trish hopped down from their mounts. "good luck you two" he said solemnly.
john covered his earring with his hand, Trish did the same, no sound would reach the earrings. and said to ixlander. "why did you put the earrings on us, they could hear us, and we could hear them, did you plan that axle" the monkey asked
ixlander nodded grimly. "they needed to hear there is more than pride on the line for this. they need to hear that not every one will go along with them and heir ideas. and also i didn't want them to get hurt. no one deserves to die on enemy territory in the dark who doesn't need to be there" the large bear said to his friend. both apes uncovered their earrings and necklaces. they nodded and hopped down off their horses.

john nodded to ixlander and his sister and ran off into the woods. followed closely by trish.

"good luck friends" the large bear said solemnly as his friends disappeared from view. "you ready to wait" ixlander said to his sister. she nodded and got off her horse. she and ixlander would wait for her friends to come back. "his highness didn't say we couldn't have a little picnic by the woods." ixlandria said. the large bear grinned. "in plate chest, boots, and shoulder pieces, no less" he said keeping his hand on the hilt of his blade watching the wood's edge.

Trish swung through the tree's easily, keeping speed with the dark brown monkey next to her with out breaking a sweat. she kept her ears open to the world around, ciphening out the wind she heard little in the forest. she caught the hand signal Johnathan sent to her. she immediately slowed to a stop and rested on teh same branch as johnathan.

"swiftclaws, can you see us, and can you hear us?" the monkey whispered quietly.

Scyler winced as a sharp pain shot through his head again. "Damn that enchanted jewelry!!" Scyler focused hard and blocked the feed from the necklaces and jewelry. "There, now if those scouts try to contact me, I won't be disabled by the pain." Mynerva smiled and patted Scyler on the back. "Whatever works for you, bro."

Scyler kept feeling a slight buzz as the scouts tried to contact him. He tried to shut it out, but finally just answered, "What do you want, scout?" Mynerva sighed and rolled her eyes. "Are they in trouble already? I swear, this is going to be a looooong night..." Scyler nudged her in the arm and put a finger to his lips, trying to silence her. "Shut up, Mynerva." he mouthed to her.

"sound and sight check tiger" the monkey said, he had heard the other tigress speak. he shook his head. 'ixlander was right, they are just kids' the monkey thought to himself. and shook his head. "check the map, a copy should be in the conference room or some where in the library, or one of the magic teacher's have a copy." the monkey looked around teh area. "we are about a mile into the woods" he said quietly. barely at whisper.

Trish had also heard the tigress. she frowned and said nothing. she shook her head also when she saw john do it, she could figure what it was about. 'they are so lucky, if ixlandria had caught that there would be a duel in a heart beat' the fast ape thought to herself and grinned at the thought of that happening. she quickly got focused again. she nodded to john confirming their distance into the woods. "Intel says that the enemy camp is only 2 or so miles away from this point" she offered her own voice barely at a whisper.

"I apologize for my sister, she's a little antsy tonight. And continue making your way towards the camp. We'll move out to the halfway mark and take cover. And the second map won't be necessary, sir. I've already seen the map through your eyes." He then severed the connection between them and looked to his sister. "What is your problem, Mynerva?! They are our allies! We are trying to help them, not belittle them! One more outburst like that and I'll seal your voice for a week!" Mynerva pinned her ears back and whined, "But I only wanted a little fun..."

"Shut up... C'mon, let's go."

Both tigers headed for the halfway mark, making it there in record time.

Taking his bow and arrow, Gabag strolled out of camp, bored with the camp's revelry of drinking, and wanting to practice his bow skills, after all, they might soon save his life. Walking into the woods, he knew that going in when it was dark was a stupid idea, but he figured if he would die this day, then he would die, he wouldn't control it. Finding a suitable spot, he begins to notch an arrow onto his bow, pulling back he aimed for a nearby stump. Releasing his grip on the arrow, the methodical "twang" sounded and the arrow flew to it's intended destination.

"tiger, the whole reason my lord fought so hard to keep you off our team was so we wouldn't have to worry about you getting caught and hurt. please, for the love of all things decent stay out of the woods, no matter what" the monkey said and looked around. his eyes widened as he heard soldier's moving around in the woods to the east of him. he looked over to Trish and moved his arm around in an upwards circle, rotating at the elbow with 4 finger's extended. he then moved his hand slightly towards the noise. then he closed his fist, opened it, and turned it so the edge of his hand was facing west, by north west.

Trish saw the sign and nodded to show she understood. 'move slowly and cautiously through the woods, 4 soldier's' she paused to get his message, 'to the east, and we are going to climb the trees to get some height on them, and to move out at a path away from teh troops, but still in a northerly direction to reach the camp.' she nodded and crept to the tree nearest her, she climbed up silently, with no boots she could be as silent as a spider.

john followed Trish up the tree and nodded, he looked forward and jumped over to teh next branch, the gibbon following behind him. the grinned at each other and silently went at an angled route away and north of the soldier's, towards the main camp.

Taking out another arrow, he strings it, this time hitting just a little above the first arrow. "Come on Gabag, you can do better." Stringing yet another arrow, he swore he could hear some noise, besides the 4 drunks who wandered into the woods. "Is someone there?" he asked out loud looking around, yet seeing nothing. "The night is playing tricks on my mind, the lack of vision is starting to make nervous, but I could've sworn I heard something..."

"Stop calling me tiger. The name's Scyler. Now, were in the woods already, but we're highly concealed." Scyler said in a barely audible whisper. "Don't worry about us. If they want to take us anywhere, they'll have to kill us first. We won't go down without a fight if we get ambushed. But if we're closer to where you are, then the sooner we can reach you if you get into trouble. Now, because I saw you signal something through your companion's eyes, I'm changing the connection to thought speaking. Don't worry, I can't pry into your mind. It's just simply for communicating. I can only hear what you want me to hear, nothing more. If you run into trouble, let us know if you need help. We'll be there shortly."

Mynerva sat on the branch across from Scyler, both of them heavily concealed by the foliage and the darkness. She noticed Scyler concentrating and continued to watch. He held out his palm to her's, signalling to put them together. She did and they locked hands, creating a mental connection between the two of them. "There, now you and I can communicate without the other's hearing us. Now, Mynerva, what is wrong with you? We are supposed to help them, not compete against them!"

"But you and I constantly compete. We're allies, aren't we?"

"Yes, but we're also siblings. It's natural for us to compete with each other. Now, I want you to fully cooperate with these two scouts. This is a direct order from your superior and your older brother."

"Ok, ok.., I'll do it..."

Scyler then laid back against the trunk of the tree he was sitting in, relaxing until the two scouts ran into trouble. "How's everything looking, scout? By the way, your name would be nice."

"my name is Johnathan, now please get out of the woods, we will be fine, we don't need your help, and we don't want it, we were given strict order's, get out of the woods scyler" the monkey said quieter than the sound a person would make breathing. the monkey crept through the tree's his feet making no sounds that any one wouldn't expect from a common creature of the woods. he checked his surroundings. "OK we are about 60 yards from the camp, remember we are just scouting the area so you know where to put your fancy traps." the monkey thought spoke.

Trish used her thoughts to speak to the tiger, "please for your own safety scyler, please get out of the woods, or if you must be in the woods, at least be there with my lord and his sister." she head thought to the tiger. she kept up with Johnathan easily. "my name is Trish, and we don't need you to come rescue us, if we are caught, we are caught, that's that we don't want any one risking their lives for us no matter what" she nodded and kept on her path.

"Well you have your orders and we have ours. Did you forget why you're even wearing the necklace and earring? It's because if you do get into trouble, we'll know and we can help you. Now, we may just be kids in your eyes, but I guarantee you that you know nothing about what we're truly capable of. Now your orders were to go alnoe, right? Well, my orders were to make sure you didn't get into serious trouble. So, it seems we have reached an impass. Neither of are willing to back down on the matter. So, you can either accept our help and just stop worrying about it or you can continue to bicker with me and not be able to concentrate fully." He then turned his thoughts to Trish. "And as for waiting with your commanding officer, I'd rather not. I already know he doesn't trust me. I fear that he would slip a knife between my ribs just as easily as he would shake my paw. I'd rather not chance that. I know you probably think there's no way that he would ever do such a thing, but you can't read what is truly in someones eyes. I've seen his contempt for myself and my profession. So, the answer for that one, Trish, is an absolutely not. Forgive me, but trust is a two way street. If he doesn't trust me, why should I trust him? I'm sure both of you have your reservations about working with us as well." Scyler said all this while relaxing in the tree, his eyes closed as he thought spoke. He had his hands joined with his sister's letting her be able to hear all that was said while only letting himself hear her voice.

Johnathan crunched his teeth. "we don't speak so of your leader, i wouldn't expect some one held so high in larsen's (sp is off sorry) esteem to stoop to insulting fellow warriors in the army. you are not an experienced warrior in the army, you do not hold a high seat with the king, you are rash and let your emotions run rampant when there is more at stake than you can understand. you act as if you truly know my lord ixlander, you don't. i have spent over a decade with my lord. i know who he is, i won't waste my time trying to convince some one with closed eyes to see the truth." the monkey thought in his head. "you did not have to insult our leader." john said. "you act as if you know the world, you don't" he thought through the earring. he took the necklace off and put it into his purse also. "you will be able to see when i feel you need to see through my eyes. also your job isn't to look out for us. i believe your job is to find suitable place to set traps" the monkey thought.

the gibbon clenched her fists, the branch she was holding onto snapped in her fist. the sound cracked through the woods, but it blended in with the sound of the thunder and lighting cracking above their heads. the storm had started while the tiger was talking. the ape took the necklace off her head, rendering it no more than a slim wire band, and stuffed it into her belt purse. she did the same with the earring. she was livid. she raised her arm, she gave a thumbs up, she swiped her arm, she thumbed her ear, she put up a fist and put up the index and pinkie finger, she put a finger to the corner of her mouth and bowed her head.

Johnathan nodded grimly when he saw Trish's message. he closed off his mind to the earring's magic and read the message. 'i can't take listening to them speak so of our lord' Johnathan put up his left arm he gave a thumbs up and pointed his index finger and brought it up and down, like he was scolding his friend. 'i agree' he then re opened the link with the earring. "Trish is fine" he thought through the earring.

"I never once insulted your superior. I only stated what I saw in his eyes. However, I have seen things that would leave you without a bit of sanity in your mind. I have seen my mother and father slaughtered before my eyes. I have seen the corpses of many relatives of mine laying in copious pools of their own blood. I have seen the true intentions of a man trying to kill a young child in the dead of night. I know you are angry with me for what I said, but I refuse to apologize. I have done not but speak my mind, as did you a minute ago. And, you may think I may not be able to see through your eyes, but that necklace only established a connection. Once that connection has been made, it can't be broken until both parties consent to it. Now, I can see that it's apparently raining in your vicinity. Beware, that isn't normal rain. That's magic induced. I can see the spiritual residue clinging to the water. Be careful, there must be mages nearby. And judging by the crudeness of the spell used, I'd have to say that those are German magicians. Stay alert." Scyler stopped communication briefly, signalling for a Mynerva to give him one of her knives.

Mynerva watched as she handed him one of her throwing knives. He muttered something softly, causing the knife to glow softly. "Show me the way to the German Mages..." he whispered again, causing the knife to float and spin until it pointed in that direction. "Ok, locate the scouts." It angled a little to the left. "Enough. Disengage." The knife fell and embedded itself in a branch. Scyler then picked it up and handed it back to Minerva. The mages are close by. I'm going to warn them." Scyler opened the connection again and suddenly felt bombarded by feelings of anger, rage, and pure loathing. He blew it off and continued. "Ok, there's a group of mages about 200 feet to your left. Be cautious."

"Commander, the scouts are out of the forest!" one soldier told me before leaving with them. "Alright mages, keep up the rain, and I'll show you what real magic can do!" I said as I gathered electricity in my fists and slammed them together.

"look, i will take a perimeter of the camp, you will see the land and determine where to set traps. his highness only told us to find places for traps not to set them, we will figure out something else after we get back" the monkey said. "you act as if Trish and i have not seen the horrors of the world we all live in." the monkey paused and shook his head "you must learn you aren't in people's heads, you don't know what they have seen or what they know, i said that stuff a moment ago based on what i saw, and what i heard of you, i never said it was true. also right now isn't the best time to be arguing about this." the monkey said through the earring as fire shot to the left of him. "we will just go the perimeter, nothing more" the monkey said gravely

Trish resented the Magi's gall to keep the connection what she wanted nothing more than to stop listening to them, john would tell her what she needed to know, she didn't want to listen to this upstart tiger act as if he knew the world. she kept her face stony, every muscle in her body was tense and ready to explode like a tightly coiled spring. she glared into the night, making sure she and john made no sound. she wanted nothing to do with the tiger mages any more. if ixlander hadn't told her to do this, and if john wasn't at stake she would have crushed the jewelry and just got out of the woods.

"Fine, we'll hash all this out in person at a later date. Until then, stay safe. I can see the massive amounts of electricity from here without having to use the connection. We'll be here if you need us." Scyler sighed and silenced his end of the connection, letting him only recieve and not sending anything to the others. He then looked to Mynerva and shook his head. "I think I pissed them off. Especially the female gibbon, Trish." Mynerva just stared at him. "You always sucked with words, Scyler. You just need to learn to shut up." Scyler glared at her. "You're one to talk, Mynerva. I believe you pissed them off to begin with. Anyways, not important. Let's just cut it out." "Deal." she said.

john closed off his earring and followed Trish to the perimeter of the camp, the sound of the storm covering the slight sounds teh duo made. once they reached the perimeter, john opened his mind to the tiger once more. he nodded to the gibbon with him and they swept around the camp, circling the camp took only about 5 minutes. ixlander's scouts had no trouble remaining quiet and undetected by the camp's own scouts. after the duo had circled the camp, "you saw what you needed to?" john asked stonily.

john nodded when he heard the tiger speak once more. he turned to trish.

Trish's eyes widened as she lunged to the left a bit, the twang of an arrow string reached her ears, the simple sound not matching in with teh sound of rain falling. the arrow thudded into the branch next to her. she looked at john, she brought out her arm and hit her chest with a closed fist.

john nodded grimly and ran off dead west.

the gibbon turned and jumped into the next tree. waving her tail at the soldier who shot at her. finally she got to do what she was good at.

"we have a slight problem, a soldier spotted us and shot right away. i don't know how he saw us in the trees, we are wearing clothes as black as the night and the rain is making the night even darker, it must be a mage with a new weapon" the monkey mumbled. "Trish will draw fire for 10 seconds, enough for me to hide, if i don't hear the signal from her, i get out and go back for her." he said. "we have practiced this many times, we have this under control, it's one soldier, we can handle this." the monkey said.

Trish smiles and twists out of teh way of the arrow, the shaft of wood passes harmlessly by her arm, she is one of the most agile animals in the animal kingdom, she has been dodging arrows all her life, from the dirty streets of the capital, to training with blunt arrows with her team and friends. she needn't worry about being hit as long as she was careful, all that practice had paied off in her life she realises now. she counted 10 seconds. and then ran off into the woods, hopping from tree to tree with great speed, a thick branch was 15 feet ahead of her, she an and jumped the distance, thumped into the branch and kept running. she took out a whistle, and blew on it. it was a high pitched whistle monkey's apes, and dog's could hear. she blew on it two short times, and one long time.

john heard the signal and stood up on his branch, he took out his whistle and blew it three short times and bounded off south west, towards the English castle, and double away from the camp.'Trish's message was 'all set', i told her to head home, angle like.' the monkey thought and kept running, hoping she was ok.

He also has a group of what look to be seasoned war veterans. Should we at least take out a few of their numbers before retreating to the castle or should we leave immediately?" "just trust me on this one thing, it sounds as if the enemy are trying to mobilize, and possibly get out of the woods. just go ixlander, if you don't wish to stay with him just tell him what is happening and then you can go back to your castle." the monkey said again.

john and Trish jump out of the woods, they run up to their lord and his sister. just as the tiger siblings finish reporting to the large bear. ixlander growled when he heard what was happening, the large bear mounted up on thunder-hoof his black charger. "sister, wake the company and any one else not up, tell them to mass by the gate. we can get out there and hold off the enemy until the rest of the troops get ready, also grab what ever armor you need." ixlander said to his sister. as the slightly smaller bear mounts up on lightning and thunder's off to the castle. ixlander turns to the gibbon, "Trish, scout the area around the castle, i know it's not on teh battle field but we need you right now. john, wake our archer's have them stationed on the wall on both sides of the gate, wait until the enemy get into range." he spoke decisively as his two friends ran off into the rain. he turned back to the tiger siblings. "thank you for coming to me, it's good that you are safe, now get to Larsen and get ready for battle. don't die swiftclaws." the bear said and settled into his saddle. he was wearing his plate chest piece, his bracer's, his shoulder pieces and the boots. he pulled his gauntlets and his helm out of the saddle bags and put them on, he wished for his lance and his greaves.

Trish grabbed her bow from teh armory and hopped back onto her horse and rode around the grounds. she saw a silver form moving by the castle. the gibbon summoned much air in her lungs and called out, "WE HAVE AN INVADER ON THE EAST WALL, WAKE UP" she yelled through the rain. she put the earring back on, "we have an interloper on teh south east wall" she said through the earring.

"Right, we'll take him out. Come, Mynerva!" Together, the two tigers rocketed off towards the intruder. "Trish, give me an exact location on him. I can't see him anywhere." Mynerva looked around for the intruder as well, but was unable to find him.

Tharren was taking the watch on the Eastern wall. "Ugh... This is so boring... I hate taking the watches." he said sourly, observing the area and yawning. He heard a shout and strained his ears, only catching the last half of what was shouted. "...on the east wall, wake up...? Why would anyone need to wake up unless..." When he came to the realization of what was happening he quickly ran to the south corner of the east wall. He then shouted to another guard nearby, "Rouse the troops! It has begun!!" He then unslung his bow from his shoulder and pulled an arrow from his quiver. "Let's see if I can find this rogue..." He nocked the arrow and held his bow out. "Show yourself, scum..."

Trish pulled the necklace from her bag and put it on, "the soldier is running, we should be OK i guess" the gibbon said, checking around.

ixlandria thundered out of the stables on lightning, with one hundred heavy mounted soldier's at her back. all soldier's were wielding heavy weapons and wearing thick plate mail, big burly men, with a few women sprinkled out through the ranks. ixlandria led her men to the gate, they lined up, in line with each other watching the enemy draw near. ixlandria held her lance and her brother's.

ixlander rode up on thunder-hoof and stopped next to his sister. he accepted the lance with thanks. "OK, Dom's, Adrian's, Neal's, Kalvin's, Gary's and Kale's squads your with me we will go out there and run them down, the rest of you, ride forward and hold the area just outside of the gate." the large bear shouted. "Ok, Trish. We'll head back to the main army.  I'm sure the wall guards can take on a measly German scout." Scyler then directed himself back towards Ixlander's group. "C'mon, Mynerva, we can take out a bunch of these twits!"

Mynerva unsheathed her blade and followed beside him. "Just remember to stay close to me. Otherwise, we won't be as powerful." They then ran up alongside Ixlander's group. "Liutenant Ixlander, we're here to help!"

Tharren watched the scout run. "Archers! Follow my lead!" He then drew back his bow and aimed a little above the running scout. "Remember, lead him when you aim, because he won't be standing still. Now FIRE!!!" Tharren released his arrow and a volley of arrows from allied archers flew towards where the scout was headed. "Reload, archers! We've got to keep him away from the castle!"

Larsen ran out of the castle gates, spear in hand and sword in sheath. "So... It has begun. All of my brigade, follow me! We have to join the fray! Mages, cast wards and boosts! We need to have the upper hand on these guys!" Larsen then spun around to face the battlefront. "Now...! ATTAAAAAAACCKKKKKKK!!!!" He then thundered forward, his group running behind him. ixlander looks at the two tiger's, "get back to Larsen's group, this is no place for no armor and no mounts." the bear said grimly, in a softer tone "Larsen will know where to put you". he nodded and looked back to the enemy. he yelled loudly "FOR THE KING!!!" as his section of troops surged forward to engage the enemy. they waited for much of the army to get close before they crashed into the main section of the army. the enemy troops were now well in range for ixlander's archer's. the heavily armored warriors on their strong burly mounts crashed into the army, ixlander's troops swung their heavy weapons, crumpling the enemy, their light armor offering little protection from the thick axes, thick blades, and massive maces. ixlander rode out among the enemy, his heavy razor sharp lance skewering soldier's. while the member's of kale's troop fought around their lancer, jack, each squad had one lancer, the squad would fold around them and keep them safe while the lancer struck swiftly and surly from behind his friends. the other's in the squad got protection from behind and on either side of them. ixlander didn't have a squad, he and his sister were knights, above the ranking army they operated alone mostly. ixlander swung his heavy lance in a circle, clubbing enemies while also clearing his lance of the body he had impaled a moment ago. he looked around and saw an opening, he urged his horse on and charged through the enemies, skewering many on his deadly lance.

ixlandria kept up with her brother skewering enemies on her lance also, using her left hand and skewering the enemies on her side, the two ursine siblings cutting a large swath in the enemy army. once they got inside, they thundered back the way they came, enlarging the swath. they reached their army once more. they looked at each other and nodded. the two bears stabbed their lances into the ground and took out their swords. they grinned at each other and charged them and their mounts back into the fray. slicing down enemy troops, the heavy plate mail taking most of the slashes the bears received. ixlander and his sister got a few cuts on their legs, above their knees. they ran back to the army and tied some linen around the wounds, took a breath and dove back in.

Johnathan took out his long bow and knocked an arrow to the string. "ready" the monkey called out as nearly 20 other archer's all armed with long bows raised their bows already knocked with arrows. "AIM" john called out taking a sight on the enemies back away from the main brunt of ixlander's army, "the iron army" they called them selves, the archer's of ixlander's army were some of the best in the nation of England, if the main army was hand picked so was the archer's "the iron archer's" were what they were called. "FIRE!!!!" the monkey yelled, his voice being eclipsed by the twang sound of 21 bow strings letting loose and 21 arrows whistling toward the enemy. almost 8 soldiers went down near the iron army. "free fire, but ONLY IF THEY ARE IN RANGE" he yelled and put an arrow on his string once more to fire again.

Scyler suddenly stops in his tracks, grabs Mynerva and runs towards the iron archers. "John, Trish! I've got an idea for the next volley of arrows. I can charge them with magical energy and make them explode 3 seconds after striking a target. I can also increase your firing range. If you can manage to hit their archers over there, then we'll have a serious advantage over the enemy. Or, if you can manage to hit those heavily armed units way in the back with all the mages, we would stand a very good chance of winning this battle, if not the war. Now, I'll need some more mages for support energy. So, when Larsen's group gets here, we can do this."

Mynerva ran to Larsen's oncoming group, keeping stride beside him. "Larsen! I need fifteen mages! Scyler has an idea!"

Larsen simply nodded his head and signalled for 15 mages to follow Mynerva. "Now, let's do this!" He jumped forward, thrusting his lance into the unarmored neck of a enemy swordfighter that strayed too far from protection. He quickly pulled back his lance, stabbed it in the ground and swung around it, catching another german with a spiked boot to the side of the head. He then landed on the ground, pulled up his lance and held it at the ready. A motley selection of Germans had surrounded him now. He listened to their snickers and waited for them to rush him. As soon as they did, he spun with his lance outstretched, the long blade-tip slicing throught them or cutting into their armor. He then jumped forward and ran another one through the middle with his lance. He quickly pulled his shortsword out and went to work on the other few soldiers around him.

Tharren saw the arrow coming and dodged it. However, the archer behind him was not as lucky. The fox clutched his shoulder and fell. "My firin' arm! NNNGHH!!!" Tharren took aim at the tree and shouted, "Time his appearances and predict his movements! We'll get him!"

Trish listened to scyler's proposal through the earring, "it sounds kinda fishy" the gibbon said apprehensivly and ran around the wall to john and he rest of teh archers. "we don't know how the magic will react to our shooting, try this magic out on me first" the gibbon said getting up to john. she took a breather and knocked and arrow on her bow.

john nodded in agreement to Trish's suggestion, "we don't want to lose our archer's, it's just a safety precaution, the battle won't be over in a half minute test" john said steadily shooting with his men. "also the explosions could be deadly or detrimental to our troops who are fighting in close quarter's with our targets." john said, "Jason's squad, break off and follow Trish, follow her leadership" john yelled as half the iron archer's stopped shooting and walked over to the small gibbon.

Trish looked to the faces around her. "keep firing till the mages get here, they will use their magic on our bows and arrows, just a heads up, keep shooting where you have a good shot, we don't want to accidentally hit our member's, but we don't have to worry about arrows here also." the gibbon said and looked around for the tiger's.

ixlander and his sister got back from the army once more. they took a breath and hopped off their horses. the bears strapped their lances to their respective mounts. "ready sister" ixlander said to his only remaining family. he had drawn his heavy sword and taken his medium shield off of his Mount's hind flank. "ready brother" ixlandria said taking out her own blade and shield. the two bears nodded to each other and charged back into the fray. the two bears hacked and slashed at all enemy troops around them, their steel plate mail screeching as enemy blades tried to penetrate it, but only succeeded in the metal whining and screeching in protest, making nearby enemies screw up their faces as the horrible sound reached their ears. the bears worked in tandem, watching each other's backs, while cutting out more enemies of the German army.

"Okay, the bastards had their fun, now lets end this!" I yelled as I, with my elite troops and mages, approached the battle field, and started to literally tear through the armor of each soldier that dared to cross my path, sending volts through their body in the process...

Noticing the ensuing battle, all Gabag could do was hold position, knowing that firing an arrow sold him out. Seeing Chrono's group he decided to leave cover and charge after the armor knights. A large army of light armor might not kill them, but a lone soldier with a deadly sword arm could, no matter the thickness of their armor.

"Hold him back! Don't let the scout escape!" Tharren yelled out, blocking off the scouts path with a volley of arrows that would be sure to hit him if he pressed on towards the battle.

"Understood." Scyler replied as Mynerva showed up with the support mages. "Mynerva, let me see one of your kinves." She handed it over to Scyler and watched as he enchanted it. "Are you watching, Trish?" He looked back to make sure she was watching. "Ok, here it goes." He flung the knife out at an enemy archer. It seemingly cut through the wind and buried itself in the archer's chest. "Watch closely." For three seconds, nothing happened. Then, a large explosion about 15' wide erupted and set other enemy units on fire. "We'll only be able to get one volley out like this unless we can take out the enemy magi. Otherwise, they'll recognize it and put up a collective ward to guard against it. So, aim for the magi and the heavily armored group way out in the back. Range won't be a problem with a little magic infused in your arrows. If your arrows hit the ground, they'll explode like usual. But first, I'll put a fire ward on our troops to protect them from friendly fire. So, now it won't be a problem." Scyler gathered his fifteen support magi together and formed a circle. They all put their right hands out and their left hand over their hearts. "Agni, the lord of fire, protect us from your wrathful flames!" A large ball of red light formed in the circle, hovering gently in the air. Then, I'd erupted into many small red lights and flew to each ally, hitting them and coating them with an fire ward. Scyler let out a sigh and looked to Trish. "So now we're all safe from fire. Ready to light a fire in the seat of their pants?"

Larsen was holding up fine. He barely had a scratch on him, but a mound of bodies surrounded him. He was barely even breathing hard. "C'mon, you whelps! I've dealt with more dangerous mud crabs than you lot!" He noticed a closeby ally mowed down by a bolt of lightning. "Lightning magic, eh? We'll see what good that will do after this..." He ran back to his remaining twenty magi. "Can any of you create a lightning ward on me?" One mage raised his paw. "Then get to it!" The Mage quickly muttered something and a yellow light sprang onto him, mixing with his fire ward to null fire attacks and weaken electricity significantly. "Thanks! As you were!" The cheetah ran back to the battle field, hacking, stabbing and slashing all enemies in his path. He found himself close to the Mage with the lightning magic. "You...! I know you!!! You're the rogue mage, Chrono! How dare you turn your back to your homeland and fall in line with these louts!" Larsen ran further towards the mage, holding his lance in a way to strike at any given moment, should the mage attack him first.

"Well, what could I do, the only magic I could get a grip of was electricity, but nobody in England had any knowledge of the magic, and your damn laws couldn't let me use anything but a stick as a weapon, so I decided to join the side that had what you lacked, and if it wasn't for this war, I would have returned...but I digress, time to die runt!" I said, shooting a bolt at Larsen in an attempt to disable a limb...

Larsen sidestepped the bolt and punched it, sending only a minute amount through his body, sending the bolt back to paralyze one of his elite guards. "Your thunder magic won't get to me. You see, I have a thunder ward on me. Which means... Ah, you're a mage, you should know by now..." Larsen started to advance on the mage, using a technique that he learned from studying in Greece many years ago. He kept light on his feet, hopping from side to side as he advanced. This allowed him to be able to quickly jump to either side of the Mage and trick him. "I hope, for your sake, that you have some sort of physical weapon, Chrono... Or else you're s.o.l..."

john frowned slightly and called "archer's fire towards the mages" he yelled as the enchanted arrows flew and struck the group and mages in the back of the army. a few seconds later there was a huge explosion from that section, most of the soldier's there were burned out of existence from the close explosion of 11 bombs going off around them. the archer's just kept firing. explosions going around the battle field.

ixlander and ixlandria cut through the army, their heavy weaponry cutting through the lighter mail of the enemy just by sheer force of the blows the gigantic bears' blows'. they kept cutting through the enemy soldier's. between the soldier's the iron army, and the iron archer's the enemy army was nearly crushed. only about 100 soldier's remained, they were scattered about, the English had almost won.

~one soldier saw Chrono fighting, and told the soldier next to them to help him out, and it started a chain reaction, causing all the soldiers to regroup around the currently in-combat mage, doing their best to keep him from being overwhelmed~

Larsen struck at the mage with the butt of his spear, turning around to stab an oncoming soldier in the gut. He flung the dead soldier aside and into a group of other soldiers. He saw another soldier running towards him, attacking him from his unguarded side. "Son of a-!" He quickly spun and stopped the attack, breaking his lance shaft if the process. He flung the useless end off into the fray and drew his sword, now having two blades to stab and slash with. He saw a heavily armored enemy unit charging him. He quickly jumped to the side and hamstrung the large German. He then turned his attention back to the Mage. He now has a rather large amount of blood running from his mouth. He wiped it away and looked back at the mage. "Is that all you've got...? You're pathetic..." He then stormed towards the Mage again, this time, using a different method of approach. He ran straight towards him, jumping to the side at the last second to land on his left foot, pivoting twice and attacking the mage's left side. He was unaware of the other large unit that crashed towards him. "Well... This might end badly..."

Scyler continued to enchant the arrows and having the archers fire them off. "Support magi, how are you holding up?!" he shouted to them, hoping that they could hold out for a little while longer. "Not so good... We're running low on energy. We can keep up the ward, but the arrows are draining us. We can only fire off one more volley..." One of the support magi sprung a nosebleed from the strain and fell down unconscious. "Sir, we need a break after this volley, or else we'll die!" Scyler shouted in reply. "Ok! Last volley of fire arrows, GO!!!"

john signalled the rest of the archer's and 17 arrows flew out and struck around the conglomeration of soldier's and magi around Larsen. exploding and lessening the number's of the enemies.

ixlander and his sister sliced out of a thong of enemies, one of the last groups of them around. the saw another group of them around lieutenant Larsen. 'don't you dare die you grizzled cheetah' ixlander thought in his head and thundered over to him and the enemy, followed closely by ironforge the younger. the two bears cut into the thong of enemies. trying to get to the lieutenant. they got to him and started fighting in all directions. the two bears quickly got a few gashes upon entering the group. "Germans, you LOST, LOOK AROUND, YOUR ARMY HAD FALLEN" ixlander yelled as he systematically cut and slashed those around him. he was starting to tire, he knw his sister must feel the strain of battle wearing on her also. he let his body take over for his mind, all those years of training, muscle memory taking over as he tried to stay alive.

Seeing the volley head towards him, Gabag slowed down avoiding the volley by about an inch. Running up to a knight, he sliced at the horse's legs, causing it to tumble and crushing the rider in the armor that they were so happy protected in. Picking up this soldier's spear, he threw it at another rider, knocking him off his horse. Running up to the mount and mounting up, he began to ride out, chopping at knights, and deflecting or avoiding the slower heavier weapons.

"Just let me finish this fi-" he was interrupted when two of his elite troopers held him down, then his 2nd in command, Korin, stood in front of me with his sword sheated and his shield in front of me "Larsen, please let us surrender, the reason we're the first to attack is because all of us wish to rejoin the nation, sadly surrenduring in battle was the only acceptable way that our superiors allowed..." He said, getting on one knee, and leaning on his sword "Please have mercy on us former British"
