The subject of religion was briefly brought up on another thread, and I got to wondering: what religion is everyone here? We seem like we'd be a pretty diverse bunch (which is a good thing!).
No bashing on anyone, please.
I guess I should go first, seeing as I made the thread:
I don't have a specific religion. My beliefs are more of a Pagan mish-mash than anything. I believe in some form of benevolent upper deity or deities. I believe in the astral plane/spirit world/whatever you want to call it. And, accordingly, I believe all living things, from plants to animals to amoebae to people, have souls that reincarnate after death on one plane or another. There's a lot more to it, of course, but that's the basic bit.

I don't have any religion, i don't believe in it, i do acknowledge other peoples religion, and i respect it as well, i just can't believe any of it myself.

If this thread is going to stay open, you all be nice and not fight.
Personally... I guess I call myself agnostic, but in actuality am probably closer to atheist. I am respectful to other people's beliefs, of course, as long as they respect mine. I was raised Christian, but I guess you could say I kind of just moved on.

Well, for the last two to fours years (when I actually thought about religion), I've identified myself as Agnostic.
For those of you who don't know (although most of you probably do), when you're Agnostic, you pretty much don't know what to believe.
I mean, I believe in ghosts/spirits and I want to believe in Heaven/life after death...which, when you really look at it, doesn't make sense...
But anyway, I'm trying to believe and I want to be Christian...my mate's helping me along.

Christian-Deist.
I was raised christian, but I have always been a huge nerd, enthralled by physics, the universe and the like. Obviously this conflicted with my faith in a few ways, but I think a good compromise was made. God was the one who laid out the fundamental forces, their strengths, the amount of matter in the Big Bang, and the one who initiated it. He has let the universe since then play out exactly as he intended (He's freaking God, he knows what is going to happen at the onset of the Big bang). Basically Deism.

Totally Atheist, but that's because I don't have the capability to look into the past or future for any duration... For that matter, I don't technically believe in past or future (the past used to be now, but it isn't now, so it's not worth thinking about too much. The future will only be now when now is then. Get it?) So, I live for now... And right now, I'm on this world, living how well I can.
I wish I had a religion, though. :P

The way i see it is that god is playing a card game but is cheating some how.
He knows the outcome of the game, but not how how the game will exactly go.
He knows how our lives will end, but he says to himself, if i lay this card down (if this person does this) then the oucome will be this.
God gives us choices, he knows the outcome of each choice but not which we'll take.
Thats what i came up with and firmly believe

basically close to the same as WZ for me, i consider myself agnostic, but im halfway leaning towards atheism

It's hard for me to answer, as my beliefs (or lack of them) have changed and developed so much over the years and they often conflicted with each other raised.
Despite being raised in a somewhat-Christian background, I never felt that it was the faith for me. I've been Athiest, moved on to nameless ideas based on concepts like the astral plane, a while as a lesser Buddhist, several "religions" (not that you could call them that) based on my own views, a brief Left-hand Path Phase of...somewhat darker faiths, then some more lighthearted faiths like Pastafarianism and Falconism but now...
I don't have any real faith and I realise that I never did follow a religion, simply my own ideas based on them...and I abandoned them all in favour of my own philosophies. I have no religion, I don't want one but I do respect those who follow a faith...unless they're being unreasonable or trying to force others to change.

Well said.

I've tried out quite a few religions and ways of life but for reasons I'd rather not go into, organised religion ain't for me. I just prefer to interpret life your own way and go from there. (That being saud you can still follow a religion and believe in your own ideas if you put your own spin on the existing concepts)

I don't believe in religion. I believe in faith.
My faith is Christian > Protestant > Lutheran (which is basically a breakaway from the Catholic Church). I feel that God has helped me tremendously and that prayer does wonders. Forgive others as God forgives you.
