Hello, welcome to the lighter side of things. Here, we are a gentle race and we resort to violence only when it is absolutely necessary. (Which it is more often than not.) You're about to plunge into another story from a complex mind rotting in a new body. Hold tight, buckle your seat belt, and get ready for a wild ride!

Enjoy your stay, here in Rotting Cove.

Chapter One: False Hope

So when you first open a book, you expect everything to end happily, right? Well, not here....

     The feeling of something cold and wet being on my face made me jolt upright. I snarled and threw the wet rag at my older brother. His raucous laughter made me wish I could go deaf and the mirthless look he had in his eyes was vomit material. On a daily basis, we fight and regard each other with cold, calculated looks; judging one another on reactions and actions that aren't predicted. Most of our time together is spent trying to outsmart the other. And we typically fail miserably. His fuzzy tail is brown and black, as is the rest of his ugly coat. He's half German Shepherd and half sheepdog. My mother, the same as my brother, is a beautiful black color with a brown underbelly and gorgeous white 'boots'. My father, who I take after, is a burnt gold color, cat-dragon hybrid.

     Groaning and getting out of my mossy bed, I shook my head and straightened up, bumping my horns against the roof of our den. I rubbed the tips of my horns, crouching and walking towards the entrance to the den on all fours, nuzzling my sleepy cousin.The white fox smiled tiredly at me and mewled softly. I purred, stretching my wings slowly in the cramped space of the den mouth. My brother sidled over and nudged me, mumbling.
I wonder what will happen to us now... Will Papa be able to keep feeding us until I gain my footing or will I have to abandon Mama and Alice to help Hunt? I thought, retreating to the back of the den. My mother shifted, her fluffy tail laying still against the ground as her ragged breathing slowed and she stopped altogether.

    I made a discontented noise and padded to her side, whimpering. 'Mama? Mama, can you hear me?' I asked, mewing.

         "Yes, Idalina..." The sound of her raspy voice made my heart break.

     I sat beside her, cradling her head in my lap delicately and watched her struggle to talk. 'Mama, please... don't hurt yourself. Use your mind...' I begged.

         You are but a child, my Idalina. Do not fret of your way of life... I am nearing my time, my love. Be good for me and take care of the frame, yes?

         'Yes, of course mama...' I murmured, struggling to control my urge to yell for my father.

     Wing beats came from a way off, heading toward the cave and an ugly silver snout entered, making my brother yelp and scuttle backwards. Knowing it was one of my fathers many kinsmen, I padded softly on my cat feet to the mouth. Watching with little interest, I let it scent the air then touched the tip of its muzzle with a cautious paw, knowing full well the dangers of being friendly with any dragon. My caution was rewarded with an amused snort from the silver dragon. It lowered its head and peered at me from one narrowed sapphire slit. I smiled grimly and nodded, grunting.

         "I would assume Father is out of the country once again?" I ventured, my eyes narrowing.

Eh, not too much going to happen now... don't have time.. I'll edit it in a few days when I figure out how to begin..

{EDITED (There's a lot of mumbo-jumbo I have to sort through for this story to take flight so advice and or comments is greatly appreciated.)}
