ooh :sparkle: hey there *waves* i was just wondering if any of you are in the army navy etc and i was wondering if you could give me any info, stories etc about war as well as things i may need to know :ded: thanks if your able to help
-
I'm not in the military, but i can try to shoot you a tip, whatever you do, don't romantasize war, go to a VA hospital and meet some soldiers and talk to them, see it with your eyes up close and real, and really think about it (you're in the UK right? do some reaserch about your military and talk to some soldiers from there for specific stuff, but pretty much any soldier that has been in combat is a good person to learn from)
do you plan on joining in the future? or do you just want to know more about it?
sorry if it isn't much help, but that's what i've got *hands it off to a real soldier who would know more*

Hay guise, if a quiz is quizzical then a test is...
Alright, all childishness aside, I'm wondering, are you going to join the military?
-
I'll go on ahead and give my experience since I am currently in the Air Force... Basic Training will be a mind game and they will succeed in making you conform to their standards (even if for a short time). Your tech school may be different from mine, so I'll just note that the standards I saw were a lot like a transition between Basic back to civilian life. As for your possible job, you may encounter an easy to live lifestyle... you may encounter true heck-on-earth, it all depends on where you go, how you like your job, ect.
Overall, if you do go through with the decision to join: don't give up. Not all people are those who can be considered "fighters", but you can make it a worthwhile experience.

i was wondering about this, same with maxi, well idk but it sounds sorta the same, idk if i should go into the military, or army or whatever, i like engineering and such, but college is expensive, and i want to help the counrty, but idk what i should do, go to college and get a job or go into the forces and such idk

Look into going into a technical college (with the help of federal grants) and it'll help give you a jumpstart in the military.

Well my boss is an ex Marine of U.S.M.C. ((United States Marine Corps.))
he was everything..from a machine gunner with an M-60 to sniper to a regular ground troop armed with an M-16 and M 203 Grenade Launcher or a G36C
His buddy Steve was also a Marine..for food you eat rations out of brown weatherproof packages that require no stove or anything..everything you need is inside it. Expect hell...it's not always fun and games...you could go into a warzone for a mission expecting it to last 3 days but it may last several more..
Eexample--is when the Americans boarded the Island of Peleilu in WW 2 to flush out the japanese troops there..first taking over the airbase there where they met AA guns ((Anti Aircraft guns)) they took them ouut to allow their aircraft to carpet bomb the place
but in modern warefare it's planned out a lot more then it was back in 1944
some movies to watch are:
Jarhead ((Gulf war))
American Soldiers ((about the war in Iraq))
both are great movies and have lots of info on them...
if you want more info I'm sure my boss has several more stories...all of them are fun to hear..

yeah, i know how powerfully strong war emotions can be, and how they can leave you...if you survive that is. And i know it may seem weird, but i guess it runs in the family, im up for adventure, though it might change when i get there, hehe. my dad was called smidge and his friend was spider, they fought in the gulf war and others to, my uncle was called hutch but he`s not in it anymore due to his back after jumping out of helicopters. Im still not sure which to join though, like theres the army, the navy< the seals !!!! the sas < woop! and the R.A.F as well secret police forces and dog handlers!!...i still get upset when i hear and read the stories that so many soldiers have
-
err..... girls can't join combat arms MOS's
you can't go to a position where you're expected to fight O.o you'll get an aux. job and be in the rear with the gear most likely....sorry, but for now the military won't let it happen
-
:O but they have, theres loas of women who fight in the war?
-
yeah, if a convoy get's ambushed or something, but they never get sent out to fight, you will not be put in an infantry squad and sent on patrol to deliberately fight
-
hmmm, are you sure, cos i swear i have seen most wome fighting out in the front, after all how could some get bombed?
-
I cannot make this any more clear, Women. Cannot. Be. Infantry., you may end up in a fight, but you will never be sent to one.
-
Actually you're incorrect.
Females in a majority of countries cannot be in the Infantry or front line warfare but some of the Eastern European / Ex-Soviet countries they are able to. Russia and Georgia to name a few allow females on the front line.
Maxi - they will be bombed due to where they are located - military bases - a high target for enemy troops.
-
Tweak, i know, i constantly research that stuff
but she's in the U.K. and like 15 years old, I'm making a point that applies to her
-
D-omg...thats abit weird that you know my age plus my...never mind. i know i cant go now i have to wait till im around 16 to 18, join a speacial force
