Title: Why are you... you?

This is a basic enough topic. I'm wondering what made people decide on their fursonas, or why they can't decide on one if they can't. As in, what species, the traits, tendencies, etc. And what other species did you consider? Why not choose them?

When deciding, I knew off the bat I didn't want a Dog or Cat. They didn't quite fit me, and seemed too... common. I also knew I didn't want a bird or lizard, which left me mostly down to bears, and smaller furry animals of the like.

My decisions came down to: Otter, Seal, Rabbit, Mouse, Raccoon, and Squirrel.

Well, otter was thrown out, because despite the fact that I enjoy swimming, I'm not built muscularly enough to pull off the stereotype, both personality and physical.

As for seal, I'd choose fur over blubber any day. =\

Rabbit was a nice choice, and became my number two, but it eventually came down to athletics again. Rabbits are known for their speed, and manic attitudes. The speed part kinda put me off.

A Raccoon would have been just about perfect, save for the fact that I'm an honesty buff. And I just don't see me pulling off the stereotypical sly 'coon idea while having a strict honesty code. It was a close second to Rabbit.

A mouse. I'm too blunt with my opinions, and too much of a direct leader to fit the stereotypical submissive mouse.

And at last, I decide on Squirrel. Mostly because I do indeed, have light-red hair, and I just lack the chubby cheeks (My cheeks are actually quite hollow) and I'm not as manic as some may think a squirrel to be, but in every other respect it fits me well.

well i chose my fursona (feathersona) becuse i love fredom and its my favorite animal.

first i thought to be a crow but i just tought that they were to dark and depressing
and then i remembered that i had once taken care of a jackdaw. and they warn't to dark or depressing.
+ they have that purple shimmer that i totaly dig(favorite color).

i also thought of a gecko but it didn't fit my personality

+ the jackdaw have the same charackteristick that i have: they are smart in there own kind of way and they are social.

i got me my fursona, a fox, because:

1. it's my fav. animal
2. I'm small and fast like a fox
2. I'd give away strengh for speed

i sometimes waver between fox and cat, you can have more then one you know. Or none at all if that's what you wish :3

Wolf cuz I always imagined myself as a wolf while listening to my music and watching the world go by. It was just natural for me. But I used to identify more with cats because of the sounds I make, but I'm still more wolf.

Well, if you look at my sig, it's obvious that I have more than one fursona.
Why? Because I love all animals and I feel I can relate to some of them in different ways.
But my main fursona is my arctic wolf (with light blue and white fur which makes it more uncommon).

Reasons I picked my main fursona:
-Canines are my favorite species of animal.
-Wolves are beautiful in my eyes.
-I growl sometimes when something makes me mad (at times it's a substitute for swearing when I hurt myself) or when someone attempts to take something that's mine (like a drink or snack or something).
-I bite to defend myself sometimes.
-I also dig in my nails to defend myself sometimes too.
-I do well in a pack and by myself.
-I love nighttime and wolves are more nocturnal animals (mostly when it comes to hunting though).
-I do howl at the moon from time to time, just for fun.

There are probably some other reasons why but I can't think of them right now.

Reasons for my other fursonas:
-Cheetah: They are fast and slender creatures. I am too. They're also beautiful creatures.
-Anubis: They are canines and have a helping nature. I have the same nature. Although the Egyptian God of Death is Anubis (it assists souls over to the other side, hence the helpful nature) and I'm afraid of death, I believe that liking a creature associated with it could help me.
-Monkey: They are playful, like climbing things, and like bananas. I have those traits too.
-Envy (I guess the fur is a feline): It's all about jealousy. I am the jealous type.
-Hellfire Gargoyle/Bat: They have the ability to fly, vampire bats like blood, and bats are nocturnal. I wish I could fly and I like the smell of blood and I love nighttime.
-Rainbow Dragon: They have the ability to fly and can breath fire. I wish I could fly and I wish I could control fire.
-Wookie (not an animal, but I sci-fi creature, but w/e): They are strong creatures and very furry. I can be strong and I love fur. I can also make the sound they make.

And there you have it.

I actually started out as a wolf. o.o But as I got older my personality changed, of which time I looked at a rabbit and though, "Perfect!" =D

Rabbits are -
Quick
Energetic
Possible one of the most cuddle-able creatures on earth.
They are the whores of the animal kingdom.
They can have a multitude of various personalities.
And they can have pretty much any color markings/coat possible. o.o

Let's see why did I choose Rigor?

1. Like a chameleon, I'm always changing.
2. Dragons usually live in solitude with a few exceptions; I'm extremely anti-social say for a couple of people.
3. Dragons are territorial, I don't like people in my space.
4. Dragons are highly intelligent, and so am I.
5. Dragons appreciate the arts, and are misunderstood creatures, so do / am I.
6. It is extremely hard to gain a dragon's trust.
7. Dragons mate for life, I have my one and only.
8. Dragons have quick tempers, and can prove to be dangerously destructive.

..And the list could go on, really.

I used to be a bear, that was because i saw flippy on happy tree friends and identified with him (I'm also... well... just look at my pictures xD a bear fit's me) but I always hated my build, so after a while I decided on a malamute, i was going to go wolf or husky, but malamutes are a bit different, and i liked that, and after some reaserch i found that malamutes really really fit me. personality and phisically wise ^_^ so i'm happy with my decision
