Check the OOC before posting. Thanks in advance :)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SG-5, so far only a three man team, had assembled in front of the Fargate. Arke, the CO of FG-5, always wondered why no one could think of a better name for the thing. An FGODD was being deployed as well. The operation was simple enough; FG-9 had gone silent after two weeks on an offworld base. The FG team was going in to recon and recover any equipment if the base was a total loss. It was strange, though. The planet was listed as uninhabited...
-
I run a quick check of my equipment, My UMP sub machine gun was in perfect working order, like a fine tuned insturment, my 1911 pistol just as well cared for, it's lazer grip and tactical light tightly afixed. I also slip a 'Zat' gun into it's holster, a small combat pack holding food, C4 and det-cord, ammo, and some other kit, all sitting over a camel back water pouch, and a ballistics vest designed to stop staff blasts, it was a prototype and only FGODD members had them. I ensure that my radio and other gear has fresh batteries and i have spairs, my knife sharp and clean, my hat in a loop on my shoulder. I do all of this in a corner of the equipment room, eyeing the rest of the team as i get ready.
-
I walk up to the CO after doing a final equipment check and snap a quick salute, i didn't like officers, but I had learned to put up with it "Sgt. Northpaw reporting to Gate Room for mission deployment" why we were assembling in the gate room was beyond me, but i was new to this team and didn't know how they worked, so I avoided comment.
-
Vince looked at the Fargate as he checked his equipment one final time before mission deployment. He then looked towards the CO of FG-5, awaiting further orders before they left, and the activation of the Fargate. The dragon had been doing this for a while so he knew what to expect from the mission.
-
"Alright, basic offworld assignment folks." The CO looked up to the control room, giving them a quick thumbs up. "Probably Goa'uld activity, so we're going in weapons hot." The gate opened behind him, the backwash from the event horizon almost touching him. "And that's our cue. Secure the base, see what went wrong. FG-5, let's move out."
-
My weapon instinctively snaps up to the ready position, the safety going off as it hits my shoulder, i run through the gate, being practically thrown out of the other side, 3rd in the team to go through, i immidiatly take cover behind the dialing device and scan the area
-
Vince kept his Zat gun ready as he ran through the gate, jumping out on the other and making a thump as he landed on his feet. He looked through the area, holding the Zat gun at a ready in case of any sudden hostility, and after seeing nothing out of the ordinary he slightly lowered his weapon.
-
I move out from behind the dialing device and move forward with my weapon at the ready, falling in to line behind and to the right of the CO alert for anything that might happen as we move out from the gate, not talking to any of the team members.
-
Arke seems very secure, almost cocky coming through the gate, simply striding up to the DHD and letting the wormhole close behind him. In truth his eyes scanned the surroundings, and his finger was tight on the trigger. Around them, pines and what appeared to be birch trees surrounded the gate. "Almost feels like home... Alright, the base is a quarter mile north-west. Move out."
-
I turn to the team and wonder what formation they expect to travel in, finding my place and moving forward, alert for anything that might happen, but not high strung or jumpy.
-
A short path led to the base, which was largely deserted and now little more than ruins. One Prefab aluminum building had been reduced to smoking rubble, although the rest of the base was intact. "Huh... Alright, spread out, and try to see if anyone's still here." The marks from the staff burns were clearly defined, and it seemed the Goa'uld were the only explanation.
-
A white wolf wearing oddly-black clothing with mechanical-looking boots slowly limped out of some of the rubble from the temporary shelter, having hold of an ACP .45 in his right hand and an unsheathed, oddly-glowing Ninjato. "Darn... should've realized we would have been found out after stealing something so valuable to them. But fortuntately, the mission was a success." he muttered to himself as he looked about, brushing himself off a bit before moving again. "Vosur, my boy, you always seem to come out with some sort of 'war trophy'." he chuckled.
-
Arke decided to inspect the prefab structure, or more accurately what was left of it. "Hello? Anybody here?" Sure, shouting was not the best idea, but he could have sworn he heard someone. Or something. "This is FG-5. If anybody's here, show yourself."
-
His ears perked at the sound of "FG-5" and he looked in the direction it came from. "Over here!" he called out, his ragged condition not allowing him to yell out too loudly as he started moving in the general direction of where he heard the voice. "This is 1st Lieutenant Vosur Aekira, FG-11, please identify name and rank."
-
duo followed behind her CO. her armor batterys were in criticle condition, almost drained, she called out "this is second lieutenant duo megadeus, FG 11" she said behind vosur, her voice feeble the voice modluator had shut off to conserve energy. she hobbled behind her CO, she and her suit were drained from what had happen only moments ago.
-
"Glad to see somebody's left. Captain Arke Bowman, FG-5." He glances from the wolf to the mech suit behind him. "Ouch... So who want's to tell me what happened here? Hey, let me get a look at that suit." The Captain tapped his radio. "If anyone finds a naqadah generator, let me know."
-
"We came here to retrieve a Go'auld decoder to possibly tap into their encrypted messages, it all went sour as we found out where the leak in our information was coming from. Our communications technician had willingly given up our plans to Baal's groupies, Zat'ed half the team, and then detonated our temp-base." He opens up a compartment in his right leg, showing what appeared to be a flattened-out crystal orb. "Luckily, we anticipated this and handed over a fake decoder to him before he blew up the place. Right now, he's probably getting a 'snake' placed in the back of his head." He puts the orb back in and closes up that part of his leg. "Our generator was taken out in the explosion, and if not for Lt. Megadeus, I'd probably still be buried under that rubble."
-
duo hobbled along behind her CO, the suit was slowing her down more than helping her, "if not for LT vosur" duo paused to take a breath, her voice muffled from the metal face mask. "i'd probably be dead, sir" she said holding in a laugh because it was true, she almost never kept her head in a fight, she was glad she was serving under someone who did. she finally caught up with vosur and arke. sorley hoping that she could sstop and rest soon, she was too tired to be furious with the betrayer, but if she ever got a hold of him her self, she would personaly rip that snake out of his back, he would die a slow death, and she would have the satisfaction of crunching that slimey parasite in between her metal plated fist. but that plan first required her not to pass out from exaugstion, moving that suit under your own power was nearly impossible for her.
-
Arke nodded, tapping his radio again. "Scratch that. Chaos, see if you can get back to the gate and get us a generator." He paused before adding "and some more weapons." Then he turned his attention to the FG-11 lieutenants and the flattened orb Vosur revealed. "So they finally figured out we can be used as hosts? Not good. How many Jaffa do they have with them, do you think?" The Captain turns to Duo, looking over her damaged suit. "C'mon, let's get you out of that until we can get the generator set up. We don't need you wearing yourself out any more." He draws his pistol, and turns his P-90 to her. "Here, use this."
-
duo looked over at her CO. she didn't follow anyone elses orders. she would if vosur acknogelged them, or they were ovbiously a higher rank, but she couldn't tell with this one. also she was a part of vosurs squad, if he thought it was ok to get out she would, if not then so be it.
-
"Sir... If there would be a way, I'd rather keep Lt. Megadeus in that armor. Not only will that armor protect her, but one of the mission's directives that we had was to ensure that as little as possible fell into enemies' hands. We have tools in one of the nearby sheds to attach power-jacks from my legs into her armor for temporary powering, but we'll have to have a clear path to the gate if we have to make a dash." He kneels down, adjusting one of his ankles. "As for how many there were, I'd say no less than one thousand. How many there may be now, I'd say about two squads."
-
The captain re-holsters his pistol and adjusts his grip on the P-90. "As long as the suit doesn't become a problem. Is it just a power issue, or has it been damaged? And how much ammo do you have left?" He turns back to the base, surveying the layout. "We shouldn't have too much trouble repelling an attack if your numbers are right. May as well hold out here for a while, and get things sorted out."
-
"sir, i belive i have sustained a bit of damage but nothing that would hinder my perfromance in the field, i just need a bit of power to work sir" duo offered, after checking her internal readings "power is at 3%, ammo is at 60% capacity, armor strength is at 80%." duo said to her CO and arke
-
Vince had followed Arke to the destroyed shelter, and was now eying the surrounding for any Goa'uld activity. He didn't want to be ambushed so he kept his guard up at all times. He had also listened to the conversation between his CO and the two survivors of FG-11 so far and it seemed that they had been through a bit since they had came.
-
Arke turns and sees Vince, jumping a bit since he had not heard him moving. "Ah! Don't sneak up on me like that!" He shook it off and turned back to what was left of the FG-11 compound. "Secure one of those buildings. A bigger one, with thick walls. And barricade it, if you can."
-
"You wouldn't mind if I were to get the necessary tools to start charging up the armor? They should be nearby, along with any supplies we have left as we made sure to seperate them all out upon arrival at this point." Vosur pulls out a pen then kneels to start messing around with the ankle that seemed to show the most problems. "I can't professionally fix this busted actuator, but I can temp-fix it until we get back."
-
"may i assist with anything sir" duo asked from the confines of her almost inactive armor, if her memory was correct the base with she and vosur along with some of the higher ranked with them, were quartered in the building about a hundred feet to the left. the equpiment he required might be just inside "sir permission to check out that building" she asked pointing to the building where she thought to have been there quarters. but there could be Go'auld there, so she asked, this was what a CO was for in her eyes to make the decisions she wasn't sure of.
-
"Not at all, do what you need..." He shrugs and turns to the forests around the camp. They were mostly pine woods, with some sort of shrub undergrowth. "It always amazes me how earth-like these planets are... Well, most of them." He seems to drift off for a moment, then shudders and looked to Vosur. "I assume you recon'ed the Goa'uld outpost here. How far is it from the base?"
-
"I'd recommend not moving if at all possible and opening up at least a facial-vent before setting the armor to a low-power setting. The more power we can put back in to that armor of yours before we attempt to go back through the gate, the better." He did not even look up to her as he had a look of concentration, then his eyes widened as a 'snap' was heard before he pulled out the remnant of the pen and cautiously stood upright, still looking downward. "That should work for now, but those mechanics are going to be pissed at me for putting so much undue stress on these." He looked to the new CO of both teams. "The base is only about 3 miles away, straight magnetic North. It's your call on what we should do next, though my recommendation is that as soon as Lt. Megadeus's armor is at 33 percent, we move out to the gate.
-
The Captain nods, looking to his compass and then to the planets north. "Hmm, north to south solar cycle. Don't see that very often." He smirks, turning back to FG-11. "They'll have the sun in their eyes if they move now, so that should give us the advantage until sunset. Just let me know how much time we're going to need."
-
duo switched to a low power setting and took off her helmet, letting her white and black hair out of her hair tie. she breathed deep. "sir i am at your orders sir" duo said saluting her CO vosur, not sure if she should salute arke
-
"It's him you should be following orders, not me. I'm not the CO anymore since he assumed the responsibility." He returned the salute out of respect and reaction, though realizing he was not in any official uniform. "Geh, don't do that. One, we're out in the field... two, I'm not in any recognized military uniform... and lastly, formalities should be saved for the Honor Guard." He starts walking to the supply shed, a bit shakily due to the temp-repair he had made. "Why is it that I break an actuator gear in the middle of nowhere?"
-
"hey stuff happens at the weirdest times, sir" she said saluting arke and following vosur to the shed a confused look on her face, it was odd for her to call her co anything but sir or Lt or whatever. but those were her orders. she got to the shed and looked around inside. ammo filled boxes on the floor, some tools were over in the back corner, some creats of general supplys were here, enough for a few days.
-
Vosur turned back to the new CO, not realizing he didn't answer the question. "Sorry, we should need at least 3 hours. Little less than 1 for the set-up and the other 2 for charging."
-
"Alright, you have exactly three hours until we move out. And if we're ready before that, let me know." Arke wanders the base slowly, clearing each building and finding each just as devoid of life.
-
It didn't take him long to go into the supply cabin and come back out with a couple of cables and a pair of connectors for each, doing a quick-solder on one end of both cables to attach them to his legs, then solders the two cables into one large connector to fit the Lieutenant's armor and connects. After finding a couple of Meals-Ready-to-Eat (MRE's) and handing one to the Lieutenant, he sits down and connects his end to his legs. It took him about 30 minutes to accomplish this since the tools and items were readily available, but it took him a couple of minutes to get through the MRE packaging before he could start eating.
-
duo fumbled eating the MRE after she spent a few minutes attaching the cables to her central power core. now she just had to rest and let the power levels rise, she sat down on a crate and leaned bacxk against the cabin, it took her considerably more time to hook up the cables than for vosur, her fingers felt clunky without the suit working with her instead of against her, there's no way i'm gonna survive if i'm out of juice with this on she looked at vosur "if something happens and my suit runs out of power, should i get out and run, this is experimental tech, should i leave it and fight or run, or should i fight or run but keep it" she didn't know what would happen withen after the would head out
-
He looks up to her after swallowing a bite. "Detonate the self-destruct after getting out of it and to a safe-distance. Remember that watch you were given before we started? There's a smaller silver button, in contrast to the camo coloration of the rest of the watch, that sets the timer for 10 seconds." He still had a problem with the MRE due to his claw-like nails, which was common for most wolves.
-
"thanks" she said pausing at the end to resist the habit of finishing with sir, she kept eating her MRE, her eyes shifting trying to take everything in at once, she would be ready. she looked at her wrist at the watch she had, ahe had forgot about the little device on her wrist awhile ago. she located the silver button and smiled, knowing it was safe there, shne sat back and kept scanning the area
-
Arke came back to the two, grabbing an MRE of his own. This isn't good, he thought to himself. "SG-5's not checking in. No response from anyone..." He shrugs and looks around. "I'm not sure what would be worse, that they're all KIA, or the Goa'uld have learned how to jam our radios..."
-
"It wouldn't surprise me any if they had the resources and the capability to jam all of our frequencies at one time. If that were so, then that could mean we have a mothership straigh-up above us and they're directing a jammer-scanner RF unit right on us." He spoke after finishing off the main portion of the MRE, now going for the extra grain supplement. "If that were the case, then they were more cautious than I thought and SG-5's in a bind. Lately from what I've seen, the Goa'uld have been trying to capture any Earth tech they can... sort of like how SG-11 was, just in reverse." He starts 'wolfing' down the grain supplement, licking his lips when he finished. "But there could be a lot of magnetic ore around here instead of them trying to jam us. I could feel something weighing me down a bit more when I was doing recon, but I thought it was my clothing."
-
duo finished eating her MRE and sighed, keeping an eye on her watch, it held basic readouts, one was power, her suit was about at 30% capacity right now. "sir i have just under 1 third power, should we head for the gate" she asked as the sun creeped closer to the horizon, soon the goa'uld would be able to mobilize and it was making her nervious. she looked at vosur, then at arke, belatedly remembering he was the CO now.
-
Arke nods, glancing back down the path. "I'd like to wait for the rest of FG-5... You two go for the gate, and get FG-3 and -7 on standby. If we need them, we'll have a few of those Asland, or Ashoarde, or whatever they are weapons, and that should give us a chance against a larger Goa'uld force."
-
"Asgard." he spoke in attempt to let the new CO know of who were their allies. He did not unhook his legs just yet, even though Arke had given the order to move out, hoping to allow Duo more charging time. "Sir, if I remember correctly, there was to be no rescue mission if SG-11 was to be discovered and not call-back through the 'Gate. So, may I ask what your mission was for here?" He finds a granola bar in one of his spare pouches and starts to eat on it.
-
duo looked at her CO and at vosur, she had been on a few nissions with the wolf next to her, she didn't know thia new guy, but a good soldier dosen't ask questions. she did wonder why she didn't disconnect from vosur, he did tell us to move out, but she did need the power. but still when push came to shove she didn't know who she would follow. don't think like that duo, wait for shore leave, not in hostil teritory she looked at vosur and then at arke. now that vosur mentioned it, she hadn't seen any other soldiers sense she had met this coyote. stop thinking like that! good soldiers don't second guess their CO, and espicaly not in a place like this with goa'uld so close
-
Arke shrugs, looking up slightly. "Well, I may as well come clean... There is a mothership in orbit over this planet. Even better, there's a System Lord on board. Since you didn't know that, I was going to order you through the gate. Then, with the Goa'uld thinking we don't know they're here, FG-3 has orders to use an Asgard beam to get a nuclear device aboard their ship." The captain shrugged. "I didn't want to tell you, in case we were captured."
-
"Alright. Duo, what would you like to do? Do you want to stay and help or do you want to go back to the gate and report in?" He did not disconnect as though allowing her time to think. "As much as I would like to start leave paperwork for both of us, and meet up with the twin female wolf doctors, I feel an obligation to finish things out here so that we don't have anything to worry about." Vosur smirked a bit. "Before you give me a general 'It's up to you' type of answer, I want you to decide if we go back through the gate or if we stay and help out."
-
duo barley resisted the gigantic urge to either panic and freak out or glare at vosur. she didn't know what to do, this was why she wasn't captian, she wasn't ready to make thease decisions. she looked at vosur and gulped. she didn't want to let him down, but she was scared of making a choice that would potentiallt kill off both of them. uggg i'm not ready for this i'm not ready for this. she started to panic. "ummm uggg i ummmm" was all she could say she had to swallow and close her eyes for a second ok come on commander think, we can head back, and start writing up the reports and getting everything fixed up, or they could hang around and help a small strike force we.... wait a second duo looked at arke "sir what would you be doing here on this planet, i mean what function would you serve waiting here on this planet" she asked
-
((Sorry, life interrupted))
"You'd be helping set up the Asgard weapon, and repelling any Goa'uld attackers. And if you go through the gate, you'll do alot less life risking. I'm gonna radio FGC, and call in the cavalry. If you're leaving, just head back through the gate. If you're staying here, well, stay here."
-
trowa unplugged her end of the cables from her core. re attached her helmet and stood up "with all due respect i'd be happy to help" she said, looking at vosur "but the final decision is up to u sir" she said she wasn't going to stay in charge, thats what a co was for
-
He detached the cables from his legs and stood up, stretching a bit. "Well, looks like you're stuck with us." he joked as he went to the supply shack, making sure he was ready to go with the necessary gear.
