I'm serious about this. My black lab Is sitting on his deathbed. For 13 long years we've had this dog and now, he's dying. I found him today laying down in his 2ft x 4ft x 1.5 foot water tub with his head bareley above water. He's been shivering and had labored breathing for the past hour. I'm not joking about this. My dog, Rowdy, is dying. And there's nothing I can do to save him. My father is now calling a vet to have him put down. T.T

I should add that I had a black lab named hammer. he was 11 when I had to have him put down. overnight he escaped from his pen and got hit by a car. But thats hardly the worst thing about it. The next morning I found him still alive, but broken at the spine half way. He was paralyzed and he drug himself from the road back torwards his pen. You ever want to see a grown man cry? Shouldve seen me that day driving him in my truck to the vet. Despite all that happened he still laid his head on my leg to comfort me. Mans best friend.
I'll never forget it and I kill myself wishing I had a better pen for him ect. But you gotta try to remember the good, not the bad. I really do feel your pain. They are hard as hell to loose and it tears you apart. As I said remember the good times and he will live on forever in your heart.

OMG THATS HORRIBLE!!! That had to be the saddest day of your life. I thank you for the advice.

I used to have a black lab.. But I dont wanna talk about it
-
I understand. It's a painful subject...
EDIT: We're on our way to the vet now. It's 7:38pm here. I'll let you know more when I get back.
2nd EDIT: Rowdy has passed on. They weren't able to euthanize him until 10:00 pm. Turns out he had pneumonia from the water in his lungs which caused numerous other thing to occur. Fever, chills, shortness of breath, loss of energy, etc. But, he died with his family and after they sedated him first, he completely relaxed. I'll spare the rest of the details.

Only thing saddening me is that it was a pet, I despise dogs but I do not hate them. It just seems fitting something that you think differently.
Now story of a couple cats I was around when little (Never had a dog)
1. Died after my birth so I don't know what else about
2. Got killed after I fell down the steps cracked my head open a year later by something... had to be put away...
3. Died to a rare cancer or something "The Stimper" or such, of my grandmal, still cried a lot over that.
I have an oldy still living with me ATM named Scar, he'll die sooner or later now, but my jumpy cat we call Whitey is going to be around for a while. Heard a couple stories back then about like 5 cats my mom had died for other reasons ...

Aw man....i know how you feel....it really hurts inside after.....my dog,Panda, died about half a month ago, salmonella poisoning from a dog food.....it ticked me off....I'm really sorry to hear about you going through this, after 13 long years....

Thanks Jojo, I'm just glad he's not suffering anymore. For the past year, he had arthritis. We had to give him a piece of bread with Tylenol it in a few days out of the month.

I had a golden retriever all my life. I honestly could not remember a time when she wasn't there. She must have been 13 or 14. Then she started having trouble walking, and a few weeks later it turned out she had cancer. That's what you get for owning a purebred I guess, this sort of thing happens to them alot. We put her down in march about two years ago, and I still have her old collar. Two weeks later my cat, a calico as old as the dog, was hit by a car. I was the only one in my family that cat could stand, and she got me through some rough times.
I guess my point is that life goes on, and you can't let this sort of thing ruin the time you have left.
