So this is a story I've started writing. It will mostly be written by me, but Flames might also write some of the chapters.
Characters are all copyrighted by me, except for the character of HoKaze no Flames, who is property of Flames.
Chapter One: Memorizing the past
It was a warm day during the spring, as HoKaze no Flames sat on a cliff, with his eyes glowing like fire in the sunlight, as he was looking over the grass plains near what had once been his home.
It had been 5 years since he had been separated from his older brother, and Flames was wondering where he was, and how he was doing. And as he sat there, wondering, memories of that fateful day came wandering back into Flames' mind.
It had been a usual day, just as this one, when he had left for the town. He was only going to go try finding some work, so that they would be able to get some money for food and other necessary supplies, so Flames waited as usual at their home during he day. But as the day was drawing towards a close, his brother still hadn't returned from the town, which had gotten him really worried by now.
As the night fell upon the sky, Flames couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong... And as the gazed one last time over the fields with his fiery eyes, tears started to run down his cheeks.
He tried to keep strong, and wiped away the tears as he walked into the empty house, hoping that his brother would have come back by the time he'd wake up.
It was a sleepless night for Flames, and he woke up many times during the night, shaking from the nightmares he'd just had, with his muzzle and pillow completely soaked with tears. And every time he had woken up during the night, he had looked over towards his brothers bed, only to see that no one was there.
When he woke up in the morning, Flames had forgotten most of the things that had happened the day before, so he jumped out of his bed and went outside, because Vince was usually outside getting some fresh air during the morning. But as he got out, Flames didn't see anyone there.
At that exact moment, the memories of despair and sadness from the day before came all rushing back into his mind.
He didn't want to believe that Vince wasn't there, so he ran back into the house, shouting for his brother as he looked through the house, trying to find him the best he could, before coming back out to search there. He shouted and shouted out into the distance for his brother who was nowhere to be found, while running back and forth around the house.
He shouted until he couldn't shout any longer, before falling down to his knees in front of the empty house, with an endless stream of tears running down his cheeks... He punched his fist into the ground as hard as he could, before lying down on the soft grass from exhaustion, falling into restless sleep as a red sun started to rise in the horizon, marking the beginning of a new day...
-
ooh Hehehe, it's well written brother. You were able to write my character well and captured the emotion of the scene. Well done :)
-
Thank you brother.
-
I like it, it looks to be the start of what will be a pretty cool story. Its a similar idea to what me and Flames were gonna do but I just didnt have the time to idle lately. Im sures yours will be better though
-
Very nice, Vince. Three thumbs up! :P
-
Thanks for the compliments guys. Here's chapter two.
Chapter Two: Beginning of a journey
The sun was setting as Flames woke up from his endless nightmares, shivering and with his eyes red from all the crying while he had been sleeping.
He still didn't want to believe that Vince wasn't there... But as he sat up, he froze still for a moment. This wasn't were he had fallen asleep! And as he looked around, he saw that he was back in his room, rather than outside, lying in the grass.
There was also a scent of food in the air, which got Flames up on his feet before he knew it. It had to be him... It had to be Vince!
He rushed out of the bedroom, full of enthusiasm. “Brother you!...†He had made it to half sentence, before making a sudden stop as he came the doorway, when he saw that the person standing there wasn't his brother, so all his happiness was washed away in an instant, turning into anger.
“Who are you?†He growled at the stranger, who had now noticed that Flames had woken up and moved into the center of the room.
“I'm no one special... I just happened to walk by, when I saw you laying there in the grass. So I though that I'd carry you inside and make some food. Unless that's too much trouble for you.†The stranger answered, trying to figure out what the fox-like anthro was thinking.
Flames stood still for a moment, trying to see if the stranger, an anthro wolf, was of any threat to him. After a while, he than asked another question, keeping his voice calm this time. “Why did you do this? Help me, I mean?â€Â
“Can't one show compassion towards other nowadays? Oh well... Your still young... and have much to learn.†The wolf replied, with a saddened tone to his voice.
Flames looked curiously at the wolf, wondering what he had meant with his answer. But before he was able to say anything, the wolf continued speaking.
“Just out of curiosity, why were you having such awful nightmares?â€Â
Flames looked when he heard the sudden question. Had it been that obvious? He put his paw to rub his cheek, noticing that it was still soaked, which meant that he must have been crying through most of the day while he had been asleep.
“It's my brother... He hasn't still come back...†As Flames tried to continue, his voice gave completely out on him, so that he wasn't able to continue as tears started to roll down his cheeks, wetting his orange fur once again.
The wolf took some steps closer to the small fox, and putting a paw on his shoulder.
“It's alright. You'll find him one day... What is your name, child?â€Â
Flames looked up at the wolf who was now standing in front of him, his eyes glowing from all the tears. “It... It's Flames...†He then replied in between sobs.
What a suitable name, the wolf thought. As he looked at the child's orange fur and fiery eyes. And if you looked at it from a certain angle, it looked like he was surrounded in flames... He then looked up from his own thoughts, remembering the food he had made.
“Come, you should eat something. You must be starving by now.â€Â
He then showed Flames to the table where he had put out some food that he had made while waiting for Flames to wake up from his nightmares, because he just couldn't make himself to wake up the poor child who had apparently had a very hard time lately.
Flames sat down at the table, eating what he was given with a healthy appetite, for he hadn't eaten anything the whole day.
Once they had eaten, the wolf gave Flames a serious look. “ You are going to need to train hard before you can find your brother. It's a cruel world out there.â€Â
“So you would teach me then?†Flames said a bit sarcastically as he looked back at the wolf.
“I could... But if so, you are going to have to endure the training and never look back during the time we are training. It will take years to finish the training, and I can understand if you don't want to. But it is the best way.â€Â
The wolf was still as serious as ever when he said this, which made Flames really confused, for the wolf didn't seem to be that powerful. But even though, he accepted the wolfs offer and became his student, training for five long years in difficult terrains, and various different circumstances.
Now he had returned back to his old home to start the journey to find his brother who had so suddenly disappeared one day. Both physically and mentally stronger now, Flames sat off on the road that he had last seen his brother on, and as the sun was shining, it looked that the fields were on fire, but never spreading, as Flames walked through them with a determined look upon his face as he headed towards that, which he had waited for for five whole years.
-
Chapter three: A heart clouded by darkness
As Flames got closer to the town that his brother had went to all those years ago, he couldn't help but to feel that there was something sinister there, keeping an eye on everyone. So he decided to be aware of his surroundings as he walked into the town, looking around at all the other furs that were walking on the streets, purchasing things or simply going out for a stroll.
Flames could feel an ominous energy flowing through the town, so he tried to locate the origin of it.
It was a trick he had learned throughout his training, to detect what kind of energy there was flowing in the surroundings, and locating the source of them.
But as he tried to locate the source of the evil presence, he found it odd to say the least, that there was something familiar in it, something that he couldn't quite get in his grasp. He tried to figure out what it was, but still couldn't find the right word to describe it.
Then, as Flames walked into the town square, he could almost touch the evil that came from someone.
As he looked around to see if there was anyone there that looked out of the ordinary, his eyes were caught by a dragon, who was apparently standing in one of the corners of the square, but was behind all the other people, so Flames couldn't get a clear view of him.
But the little that he had seen, he looked so familiar, and he had the the strangest feeling that he had seen the dragon somewhere before.
Flames though to himself. Could it be him? After all these years, could he still be here, although he'd never returned home on that day?
He then nimbly made his way through the crowds, trying not to loose sight of the dragon as he moved forwards. But as he got, he started to feel the evil aura, emanating from somewhere close by, so powerful that he could almost touch it, which made that Flames couldn't ignore it anymore.
He hadn't felt an aura this powerful before, so Flames had to keep his guard up the whole time, while trying to get through the flocking crowds that were covering the town square.
As he had gotten to the other side of the square, he saw that the dragon had started walking down the street, away from the market-like square full of people.
Flames continued to follow the dragon as he walked down the streets, but still keeping his distance as he walked through the swarms of other furs mingling near the stalls.
After a while, the dragon turned down onto an alleyway, cutting off from the main road.
And as Flames turned into the alley just a short while later, he couldn't see anyone there. Did he get away? He thought for himself as he stood in the middle of the alley, lost in his thoughts for a moment unaware of the darkness that was flooding over everything as he stood there, blocking him off from everyone and everything else.
As he then looked up from his strain of thoughts, Flames noticed that everything had become dark and silent, all the noises from the street had just disappeared in an instant.
Then, a scaly paw touched Flames shoulder, making him spin around in an instant. Now being face to face with the dragon that he though to be his brother. And as he now had a good look at him, he could see that there were some resemblances to him.
But there were some differences too. Most of this dragons scales were black, and he had red markings on his body.
Flames' brother hadn't had such dark scales, but the resemblance was still stunning. And as Flames looked at him, he almost jumped back when the dragon started speaking.
“Why are you following me, little one?†The dragon spat out, his words echoing through the darkness.
“I just thought that you looked like someone I know.†Flames answered, trying to maintain his calm while facing the dragon.
“Whom, exactly?â€Â
“My brother...â€Â
“Your brother!?†The dragon laughed at the thought. “A fox and a dragon? How pathetic!†The dragon spat out, mocking the anthro standing in front of him.
Flames tried to keep himself from doing anything irrational as the dragon tried to get a good reason to attack him. But he managed to keep his calm, and found a way to be able to be certain if this really was his brother or not. But the odds was against him if he would be able to make it out of the situation that could come out of it.
But he had to take the chance, because he might not get another one.
Flames trusted himself towards the dragon, using all the power in his hind legs to get enough peed into the movement. And as he had expected, the dragon moved backwards avoiding any serious damage. But Flames had hit his target even though the dragon had been faster than he had expected. He had torn the dragons shirt into two, so that Flames could now clearly see the dragons chest. And much to Flames' shock, there was the exactly same symbol on his chest that his brother had, burning like fire as you looked at it.
The dragon looked down at his torn shirt, a dark force starting to emanate from him.
“You got me there.†He said in a dark tone while still looking down. But then, in an instance, he was out of sight, moving at such speed that Flames was unable to keep up with it. Before trusting his elbow into Flames' stomach, making him kneel in pain while gasping to get some air back into his lungs. But as he looked up, he could see the dragon holding a sword over his own neck, ready to give the finishing blow.
Flames looked in shock at the dragon, whom he now knew to be his brother, holding the sword against him.
“Vince, no...†Flames pleaded, gasping for air.
And just as Vince was about to strike, a small light shone up into the darkness, shedding some light into the darkness, like a flame cutting it down.
A single tear fell down through the dark. Seeming like and eternity before it came to rest on the cold ground.
The darkness had faded away, but so had Vince with it, leaving Flames down on one knee as he looked at the teardrop beside him freeze to an eternal ice that wouldn't melt.
Flames now knew what had to be done. He would go searching for his brother even if it took him to the end of the earth if need be. Because he knew that there was still some hope left. A lone fire in the darkness that now was his brothers heart.
-
Thats awsome :sparkle:
-
Here is chapter four, giving some more info before the story going back to Flames' situation.
Chapter Four: Remembrance
Vince staggered through the fortress he had been whisked to as the darkness he had created had so suddenly disappeared. He had no idea how it had happened, and the tear stain on his cheek was also of unknown origin to him.
He dropped his sword as he continued to stagger through the empty halls of the dark fortress, but went back to pick it up a minute later. He gave a look at the craftsmanship of it before throwing it out of the window in a burst of rage, making the sword fall down into the small courtyard surrounding the inner parts of the fortress, and impaling one of the creatures of darkness that were roaming it, killing it in an instant.
The black dragon then made his to the throne room, and sat down on the large chair at the end of the room. He was deep in his own thoughts as he sat down, utterly confused about what had happened just a few moments ago. He had so many questions in his mind that he wanted answers to, but when he tried to think back, all of his memories were from the last five years, and everything before that was just covered in a thick mist that he couldn't see through.
All he could remember was that he had been brought in front of a great anthro dragon, whom everyone referred to as Malakar. And although Vince's memories were somewhat vague about how he had gotten there in the first place, he could remember the happenings from about a year later and to the current date as perfectly as if it had just happened.
As Vince was deep in his own thoughts, a dark flame appeared in front of him. It was the way that Malakar kept in contact with all of his higher ranked warriors.
A pair of red eyes glowed inside the dark fire, emanating an fierce amount of mystery and fear into anyone that wasn't used to it. And the voice that could be heard was dark and had some hissing sounds to it.
“So I see you met your brother today...â€Â
Vince's had shot up and he looked straight into the red eyes staring out of the darkness. “How did he know what had happened today?†He thought to himself. And before he could hesitate, he had opened his mouth and asked.
“Was that really my brother?...†There was some hesitation in his voice as he said it, but Vince wanted to know the answer.
“Yes. It really was your brother.†Malakar answered without hesitation. “But now... I'm not in the need of your emotional side...â€Â
When that was said, Vince suddenly felt like his head was about to burst, so he stood up and put his scaled paws to his head, staggering for a bit before falling down on his knees while trying to struggle against what was happening to him.
But after a while, his fiery eyes turned completely black and he stood up again, as if nothing had happened, and sat down on the chair again.
“Finally! Took you long enough.†Vince said, but his voice was now much darker and cockier this time.
“You know the rules. You can only come out if his emotions are getting in the way.†Malakar then said.
“I know, I know... But seriously, do you think that I want to just sit in the furthest reaches of his mind, while he has all the fun?â€Â
“I think it's better if you stay in charge for a while, so that we can dispose of this... 'Flames' without any more complicationsâ€Â
“Good call. So how should we dispose of him?â€Â
“I think the old fashion way should be enough. Nothing too fancy. He doesn't seem strong enough to withstand much.â€Â
“If that's the way you want it, then it'll be so.â€Â
“Good. Now go and take care of that little runt before he has a chance to do some harm to my plans.â€Â
The dragon nodded and stood up. “As you wish.†He then walked over to the weapon rack, grabbing a double katana, his favorite weapon, and started to make his way towards the balcony.
The fire in the throne room faded away as Malakar had finished talking to the dark entity that was now in control of Vince's body. After this night, no one would be able to stop him.
The entity in Vince knew that he had a long night ahead of him, but the thought of getting to kill someone cheered him up as he took flight. He'd take the as much out of it as he possibly could, and torment Vince with letting him see his brother die in his arms. A perfect revenge for all the times he'd had to just wait for his turn. Now, it was his time to have fun.
-
:sparkle: Sheer awesomeness brother. This adds a whole new layer to the plot and makes things even more interesting. The use of memory, emotion and evil entities in such a fashion really adds to the story.
I can't wait to see how this goes! :)
-
Thanks brother.
I've been really productive lately, so here's chapter five and six. Go me!
Chapter Five: An unsuspected gift
Flames was still kneeling in the alleyway, not being able to comprehend what had just happened. He had found his brother, but then he had been beaten badly by him, and was now looking down at a crystallized teardrop.
“How could this happen?†He thought to himself. “The once so gentle and loving dragon that he had loved as his brother. How could this be the same one?â€Â
Flames picked up the teardrop and inspected it closely, wondering what it was for before getting back on his feet again.
“But what could it be for? One teardrop that crystallized itself after being shed.â€Â
There were many questions that bothered Flames, but now was not the time. He had to find his brother again, and make him remember everything. All those times in their childhood that they had had so much fun together. Nothing being able to separate them.
But first, Flames had to find himself a weapon, or he would be defenseless if he had to face someone that had one.
He walked out of the alleyway, letting the sunlight warm him as it danced on his fur, making it glow all the more brilliantly. There has to be a sword smith somewhere in town he thought, so he started looking for one.
After a while of asking around, he finally found a smithy, and made his way inside.
As he stepped into the small smithy, he looked at all the swords hanging on the walls, showing the smiths talents in its full glory.
As Flames looked around, one special sword case caught his eyes. The sword was unlike anything that he had ever seen.
While Flames was looking at the sword, the smith made his way behind him unnoticed because of Flames' attention being on the sword.
“The X-sabre. Truly a piece of art wouldn't you say?†The smith grunted out from behind Flames.
Flames flung around in an instant as he heard someone speaking behind him, facing the Doberman that had been standing behind him.
“It truly is splendid.†Flames replied, trying not to sound too taken aback from the smith sneaking up on him. “Did you do this yourself?â€Â
“That I did. Greatest thing I ever did.†The Doberman looked down at the anthro standing in front of him. Taking a good look at him before continuing. “And I want you to have it. As a gift.â€Â
“What!?†Flames' burst out, not believing what he had just heard. “I can't take it. It is the labor of your finest work. I couldn't possibly...â€Â
“Yes you can. And you will too, before I shove it on you.†The smith started taking down the sword from its case as he spoke.
“But why?†Flames asked, wanting to understand why he was given this magnificent sword.
“Because a wise old fur once told me that I'd give it away to a young lad with fur like fire, needing help on his journey. Of course I thought that he was barking mad. But now I have been proven wrong.†He finished taking down sword, and offered it to Flames. “Here. Take it.â€Â
Flames could but agree to the smiths offer, because he was in the need of a weapon, he simply hadn't been thinking that he'd be given one as magnificent as this one.
“Thank you.â€Â
“Don't mention it. Just promise me that you help your brother, okay?â€Â
Flames looked up at the smith, hearing his words. “How did you?...â€Â
“It's a long story, maybe some other time. Now go. It's getting dark soon. You never know what terrors the night brings with it.â€Â
Chapter Six: A town ablaze
Flames woke up to the sounds of screams coming from throughout the town.
He had found an in to stay in the day before after coming from the smiths shop, and had been sleeping somewhat peacefully until now.
He sat up on the bed, wondering where all the screams were coming from, and made his way to the window, drawing away the curtains so that he could see outside.
As Flames looked out, he couldn't believe what he was seeing. The streets were filled with panicking furs that tried to run away from the town, while others tried to extinguish the fires. The whole town had gone into chaos in mere moments.
Flames quickly pulled some clothes on himself, and grabbing the X-sabre before running
out of his room, making his way out of the inn.
Wondering who in their right mind would do such a thing, Flames ran out into the streets, trying to find out who could do such a horrible thing. Putting a town full of innocent people ablaze with no apparent reason at all...
But as he ran for a while through the burning streets, Flames suddenly heard screams of pain, coming from somewhere nearby. He made his way towards the direction where he had heard the screams from, and before long, he found the reason for the screams.
Flames stopped in shock as he saw Vince cutting down other furs as if they were wheat, but before he could say anything, a dark and grim voice cut through the air.
“So you finally came... I've been waiting for you.â€Â
The dark entity in Vince had noticed Flames' arrival, and was now standing still, looking towards him.
“Brother... How... How COULD YOU!?†The shock in Flames had now turned to anger.
“Because it would draw you out. And frankly. Because you're not my brother.â€Â
“You!...†But before Flames was able to say anything, he noticed that there was something wrong with the whole picture. It was his brother all right standing in front of him, but something was wrong. As he looked at his brother, Flames noticed that his eyes were completely black, and not the usual fiery red that they used to. And that the dragon was emanating a dark glow that was hard to see with the whole town ablaze around them.
Before Flames could come a conclusion about what was happening to Vince, the dragon had lunged himself towards him with an incredible speed, so that Flames had mere seconds to draw out the X-sabre and defend himself. After that, the entity tried to deal a series of quick blows towards Flames, only to see that Flames was parrying most of them. After a while of swords clashing together, the entity saw its chance with Flames' defense growing weaker
while doing some things, so he took his chance and lunged himself towards the fox, making him lose his balance.
Flames stumbled backwards, landing on his rear end as he fell, but managed to keep his defense up while being on the ground, only to have the X-sabre to be thrown away by a powerful blow.
Flames was at out of options. He was both defenseless and had nowhere to run. It looked this would be where he would meet his end. In the middle of a burning town...
Vince raised his sword and aimed straight for Flames' heart, looking at the scared anthro's face with a devilish grin as a loud explosion went off somewhere in town, only making the dragon grin even more.
But as the dragon was about to pierce Flames with his sword, something started emanating a powerful glow from Flames' pocket, stopping the dragon in his attack.
Flames reached into his pocket and drew out the crystallized tear stain that was now shining blue and emanating a powerful light that was almost blinding.
As Flames looked closer at it, he could see an image inside the small crystal, only to regret looking at it and turning his head the other way, as a small tear formed into his eyes.
Inside the crystal, Flames had seen the image of a young dragon, being tortured over and over again, beaten half to death. The dragon, which was his brother no doubt, chained down in a cell.
The images continued, rolling on and on, one worse than the earlier.
Flames looked over at his possessed brother, seeing him stagger slightly backwards, his eyes starting to go back to their original fiery red, instead of having them filled with darkness.
“Brother. Run! I can't stay in control for long!†Vince shouted out suddenly, while fighting to stay in control of his own body.
“I can't just leave you!†Flames shouted back, sadness in his voice. “Let me help you.â€Â
“The only way of helping me right now is by staying alive. Malakar fears what you will become, so he'll try to kill you by any means necessary. So go already!â€Â
Flames let out a sigh before turning around and starting to run away, leaving his brother behind. He grabbed the X-sabre before running out of sight, and made his way into the dark night as an angry roar could be heard from inside the burning town.
-
Brilliant continuation, brother. You make me proud...
I find it interesting that you decided that the X-sabre exists in this world too, albeit in a different form. What also intruiges me is "the wise old fur" the smith mentions and how he is related to the storyline. Based on how the smith refers to the old fur, it seems as if the conversation occurred years ago, before Vince vanished and perhaps even before Flames' birth (in this world). It makes one wonder how this old fur knew that such things would happen and that Flames (AKA The Hero Eternal) would re-incarnate and need that weapon...
Hmm...
-
Wow.. Nice structure Vince. Keep it up!
-
Thanks for the comments guys. And yeah Flames that was completely my subconsciousness going there. Here's the next chapter. Enjoy.
Chapter Seven: A New Acquaintance
Flames continued running for a while before coming to a halt as the thick forest gave way for an open field. He tried to calm down his breathing as he stood there in the faint moonlight, by the edge of the forest.
He reached for the crystal in his pocket, to have a proper look at it this time, but it had stopped shining as soon as he had gotten further away from his brother. But the memories that were stored inside it, they were the key to releasing Vince from the darkness that was controlling him. That much Flames was sure of.
As he continued to look at it for a while, he came to understand more about the whole situation, from having seen the memories that his brother had somehow forgotten by the hands of the dark entity controlling him.
It filled Flames with great sadness to know what his brother had had to go through, during the time that he had been tortured. Being tortured over and over again...
Flames shrugged the thought away. He didn't want to get caught up in those thoughts, for there was no changing the past. It was the future that mattered.
Flames had now started to walk again, taking a straight route through the field. He let his paws go over the hay as he walked through, taking in the calmness of the night around him. It had been a while since he had been able to simply take a stroll without having to beat down something at the same time.
As he continued walking, Flames suddenly tripped on something. Or rather someone, that was laying in the middle of the hayfield.
“Watch where you're going!†An angry voice called out from amidst all the hay, making Flames snap out of his thoughts and look around, trying to locate the source where the voice came from.
“I am very sorry about waking you up.†Flames said out, not knowing who he was speaking to. “But I had no idea anyone was laying here, and even less that I would accidentally walk over them.â€Â
“Oh... guess you're right.†With that, an anthro husky rose up from all the hay, standing mere inches from where Flames' hind leg had been a while ago.
Flames looked at the husky now standing on front of him, trying to identify if he was a possible threat or not before saying anything.
“So why were you laying here in the middle of the field anyway?†Flames then asked.
“What does it matter to you? Not like you would care you care anyway.†The husky answered bluntly, while looking at the anthro that had stumbled upon him.
“And what if I did? What would you do then?â€Â
The husky looked peculiarly at the other and flipped his head to the side while still continuing to look at Flames. “Who are you anyway? Because you sure aren't anyone from around these neighborhoods.â€Â
“Well... I'm not denying the fact that what you say is true, but I am now wondering what makes you say that?â€Â
“Very simple.†The husky said with a mischievous grin. “You're not at my througth by now, trying to cut it open.â€Â
Flames looked slightly confused at the husky. “Oh... But back to your question. My name is HoKaze no Flames, but you may call me Flames. And you then?â€Â
The husky reached out his paw. “My name is Fay. It's nice to meet you Flames, at least considering that it could have been someone who knew me instead.â€Â
Flames circled around Fay, so that he would get a good look of him, trying to understand what he could have done to upset so many, getting them ready to kill him for something he had done. “So what is it that you did exactly, to get them that angry at you?†Flames then asked, after making a full circle around him.
Fay looked at Flames, not quite certain if he should answer, but decided to go for it. Not much he could loose anyway. Right? “Let's just say that seducing all the guys in town isn't all fun and games. At least when it comes to their fathers and pitchforks...†Fay blushed slightly after saying the last part, for because of his playful nature, he had been kicked out of many towns by now.
Flames looked curiously at Fay, trying to grasp what he was saying while still being on his guard. “I guess that's... reasonable...†Flames said, not entirely sure on what to say.
“I guess...†Fay paused for a moment before continuing. “You wouldn't mind me tagging long now, would you hon?†Fay quickly put his paws over his muzzle as he heard what he had just said, cursing his lack of control. “Oh what the hell...†He then thought and gave Flames a quick kiss, keeping a slight distance to him afterwards.
Flames was thrown aback by the sudden kiss from Fay, not being able to comprehend what just happened. “I... You... Wha?...†He then went silent for a moment, trying to gather his thoughts before opening his mouth again and trying to say anything. He took a deep breath and drew out the X-sabre, pointing it at Fay. “Don't EVER, do that again.†Flames voice was very serious when he spoke. “Otherwise I'll kill you myself.â€Â
Fay looked at Flames for a little while before speaking, letting Flames calm down for a moment. “Does that mean I can come?â€Â
Flames just let out a low growl before starting to walk again, not looking back at the husky. His face was completely emotionless, but his mind was still going on at full speed. He could come along as long as he didn't do anything stupid or sudden again. But still... He wasn't all that bad looking either...
-
Expertly handled, brother. As I said to you earlier, this chapter brought a smile to my face.
-
Good story, I like how its comming along keep it up.
-
Thanks again for the comments guys, really appreciate it. And I'm glad that you find it interesting. Here's chapters eight and nine.
Chapter Eight: A cry from the distance
Flames was still going as the sun rose up in the distance, shedding it's light and banishing the darkness of the night. Fay had been following Flames through the night, but was keeping some distance as not to upset Flames again with doing something hasty or stupid ending with him having his throat cut open.
As they came to a huge cliff, Flames made a stop at the edge, looking over the landscape that didn't seem to have an end. Fay made his way beside Flames so that he could see it too, as there was a soft wind going through the air as the sun rose from behind the distant mountains.
The husky sat down, admiring the beautiful sunrise and stretching out his arms as he let out a yawn. It had been a long night, yet Flames didn't seem the least bit tired. It confused Fay. No one should be able to go without sleep and not be the least bit tired.
He looked towards Flames, seeing his emotionless face and simply letting out a sigh.
The lack of sleep was getting to him, but the husky didn't want to be left behind, so he had simply kept going through the night, keeping up with Flames' pace.
Flames felt the wind against his fur as he stood on the cliff, looking down at the small villages in the distance, wondering where to next. He then made a sudden turn towards Fay, looking at him sitting as he spoke. “You wouldn't happen to know anything about someone who goes by the name 'Malakar', would you?â€Â
Fay thought about Flames' sudden question for a while. “Hmm... I'm not quite sure... You wouldn't be meaning The 'Malakar'?
But before either had time to say anything more, there was a scream that echoed through the otherwise silent morning. Both anthros gave each other a quick glance, and Flames was the first one to move to the edge of the cliff, there the sounds had apparently came from , with a couple of nimble movements. He looked down the cliff, but was unable to see what was going on down there.
Fay had also made his way to the edge by now, and was peering down the large cliff, trying to see something. “Can you see anything?†He then asked Flames, having tried to see something for a while.
Flames ignored Fay's question, and didn't even turn towards him as he spoke in a calm tone. “I'm going down...â€Â
“You're doing WHAT?!†The husky burst out. But before he had a chance to say anything else, Flames had already jumped over the edge, running down the side of the cliff. Fay let out a sigh and shouted over the edge as he looked at Flames go. “You sure are making this hard for me huh, Flames?â€Â
With that, he started to walk down the fastest trail down the cliff, not being in the mood for all the theatrics.
Chapter Nine: An inner battle
The entity had regained control of Vince's body a little while after Flames had run away from the town, escaping from the turmoil.
The dark character living as a parasite inside Vince was boiling by now, going into a fit of rage and madly slashing the burnt remains of houses and other things that were left standing by the fire.
This was getting personal to him by now, and was fed up with Vince interrupting everything when he was supposed to be in control over the body. He decided to go face to face with his host on this one, because he had had enough of this pesky dragon intervening with his plans.
Vince was locked up inside the darkness of his own mind, but somehow Flames had managed to break that seal for a moment, allowing him to regain control over his body and and get him to run away, instead of meeting his demise by the hands of something that wasn't even supposed to be there.
Vince looked up as something started to materialize beside him, looking at the dark entity take a serpentine form beside him.
“Looks like I really upset him this time... He's never come here before.†Vince thought to himself, smirking at the thought.
As the serpentine being had finished taking it's form, it lunged straight ahead at Vince, punching him hard in the face. “You idiot!†He hissed
Vince was slightly thrown aback by the punch, staggering slightly backwards and softly touching his now sore cheek. “Oww!... What was that for?â€Â
“You know why, you pesky dragon!†The snake hissed, clear anger in his voice. “You let him get away!â€Â
Vince grinned. “So? He is my brother after all.†He now went for the serpent, but as he tried to punch him, he simply went through the entity as if he was a hologram.
The entity crossed its arms and looked towards the dragon. “You still have much to learn. That's why you're so easy to control.†He smirked giving a content smile.
Turning back towards the entity, Vince let out a snarl. “What are you doing here anyway? It's not like you're supposed to be here.â€Â
The entity let out a hissing sound before speaking. “Because we want to use your power. Nourish it and control it. Plus you could have become a major nuisance if we hadn't intervened.â€Â
“Son of a...!†Vince went rushing towards the entity again, but much to his surprise, his blow actually connected this time, sending the serpent flying a short distance before crashing down on the ground.
The dragon looked amazed at his paw after hitting the entity. He had done it, he had really done it!
The entity cursed under his breath, he hadn't expected the dragon to be able to be this powerful... The anger must have made him able to connect the hit, so he had to get the dragon chained up before things took a change for worse, for him that was.
As Vince was readying for another blow at the entity, chains started coming out of the walls, chaining down the dragon before he had a chance to fight back.
The entity let out a pleased smile.â€ÂNow that that's done, I think I'm off to have fun with your body again.†With that he gave an evil grin and turned away, preparing to leave the dragons subconsciousness.
“What?! You can't leave me here like this!†Vince tried to struggle free from the chains. “Come back here you insolent pile of scales!â€Â
The entity made a sudden stop, hearing the dragons words echo back and forth, and turned around. “What did you just say?†He was now moving back towards Vince.
“I said...†But instead of continuing the sentence, Vince spat out flames towards the entity.
The entity jumped back, avoiding being burnt by the flame be mere inches, but still feeling the heat of a raging inferno in front of him. “Sneaky aren't we?†He grinned again. “Stay there.â€Â
Vince could nothing but look as the entity vanished and took over the control of his body again, not even daring to imagine what he would do now.
When the entity had taken over control of Vince's body, he started making his way out of the embers that remained from the town, taking flight after a short walk.
He had to find Flames again, but he had gotten half a days head start so I it wouldn't be finding him again. Because if he didn't bring the anthro's head to Malakar, he would have his own head along with this dragons on a plate instead.
He tried not to think about it as he continued to fly over forests and fields, trying to locate Flames once again.

:sparkle: As I said in my PM, brilliant work brother, just brilliant! The story is keeping me hooked, the whole inner struggle between Vince and the parasite that had took over his body had me on the edge of my seat and your depiction of Flames is highly accurate. Truly, you make me proud.

I agree with flames awsome

Thanks again for the comments, they are very appreciated. And I finally finished chapter ten, although I'm not completely satisfied how it came out, but still... Hope you like it.
Chapter Ten: Friends or foes?
Flames wondered what awaited him as he run down the side of the cliff. He drew out the X-sabre as he went, now prepared for anything that might await him as he came closer to the ground. He then jumped before reaching the ground, making a neat turn before landing on his hind legs, only sounding a faint thump as he landed.
He now looked at a huge cave that went into the mountain. It had to be more than 25ft tall, because it looked like it could fit a full-blooded dragon inside it. Not that Flames ever had seen a full-blood dragon, but he had heard many stories about them.
From what Flames had heard, the full-blood dragons had diminished in drastic numbers as of late. Most had suddenly just disappeared without leaving a trace. But there were still some known to be found, scattered around the world as they tried to save their own race from extinction.
Flames wondered if there was a dragon living in his cave, or if there only had been one, because full-blood dragons were much more powerful than anthro dragons, outmatching them in both brute strength and cunning.
As Flames wondered on this, another scream sounded through the otherwise silent morning.
Flames was now certain where the scream had came from: Somewhere deep inside the cavern.
As he looked towards the trail leading down the mountain, he saw Fay rushing down and not taking much time before he was standing beside the Flames, looking at him after looking at the cave entrance. “We going in there?â€Â
“So it seems.†Flames replied as emotionless as ever, looking steadily ahead. “If there is someone in there needing help, then it is our duty to protect that person. There is nothing more to it.â€Â
Fay sighed, but as he was drawing out his sword, something caught his eye inside the cave. He took away his paw from the hilt of his sword peering inside the cave to see what it was that had caught his eye. The husky's eyes widened as he saw what was coming straight at them from inside the cave. He quickly pushed Flames to the side, landing on top of him just as a huge burst of flame made its way out of the cave, taking a while before making a stop.
Fay let out a sigh. “Phew... That was close.â€Â
“That it was, but now get off me.†Flames voice had turned serious again as he pushed the husky off of him.
“Oh... right... Sorry.†Fay got up and dusted himself off.
Flames grunted as he got up, also dusting off, and gave a look towards Fay. “You should be glad that the X-sabre didn't pierce you as you knocked me over.â€Â
The husky went slightly pale at Flames words, now thinking about the scenario as he looked at the X-sabre. “Gulp...â€Â
After gathering himself again, Fay turned towards the cave entrance, taking a good look inside before going on in case of another sudden burst of fire. “You coming?†He then said towards Flames.
“You're in a hurry now? What made you change your mind?†Flames said with a hint of irony on his voice.
“Hmph... I'm just not as keen as you on burning my fur off, thank you very much for asking.†Fay had started walking into the cave as he spoke, while still being on his guard as he moved.
Flames followed amusedly the husky as he followed into the cave, thinking about every possible escape route as he walked, but not showing any of his deep pondering upon his face.
As they ventured deeper into the cave, they came to a huge chamber. Amazed by the sheer size of it, both anthros took a while to look around, and as their eyes reached the center of the chamber, they saw the huge dragon that seemed distracted with something and didn't notice the two coming.
Fay looked amazed at the grey full-blood dragon. “Whoah... I thought they all vanished.â€Â
“Almost. There has been a couple of siting but not many.†Flames corrected. “Now let's see what's going on here, shall we?â€Â
As they walked closer, they could see a figure slashing away at the dragon, trying to get it's sword to cut through the hard scales of the dragon. And with closer inspection to the figure, they managed to identify it as a female anthro wolf.
“Why do you persist to continue this futility.†The dragon roared at the wolf.
“Because... I was ordered to...†The wolf gasped, feeling tired from trying to evade the mighty dragons shard claws and fiery breath, while attacking it at the same time.
The dragon finally caught the wolf in his huge paws, holding her with a firm grip. “I'm tired of Malakar sending his troops here to try to get rid of me! Why does he so badly want me gone anyway?â€Â
“You're... asking... the wrong... person...†The wolf was noticeably out of breath by now, and also having hard to breath because of the dragons tight grasp on her.
The dragon snorted and threw the wolf aside, snarling. “Leave!â€Â
The wolf landed just in front of Flames and Fay, getting a glimpse of hope in her eyes as she saw the two and got up. She made her way to Fay, being the nearest one to her. “Well well well... You guys can surely take it from here.†She spoke in a very seductive tone, trying to get them to go against the dragon instead as she moved her fingers over Fay's chest.
Fay eeped as the wolf put her fingers on his chest and quickly made a retreat behind Flames, looking back at her angrily over Flames' shoulder while growling. “Get her Flames.†Fay said, looking at the female angrily. “Take her down while she's weak!â€Â
Flames looked amusedly at Fay standing behind him before starting to walk forward, past the female anthro and towards the huge dragon.
As he came closer, Flames approached the dragon cautiously keeping his guard up if the dragon decided to attack. “I apologize for simply bursting into your den, great dragon, but I couldn't help but overhear that you seem to be having some problems with a dragon called Malakar.â€Â
The dragon turned around as he heard Flames words to see who had spoken to him, showing his sharp teeth towards the anthro, giving out a very intimidating look. “Eh?... What's it to you, fox?â€Â
Flames took a step closer before speaking. “I suggest and alliance, because we seem to have the same enemy, Malakar.â€Â
Fay had made his way beside Flames, and wasn't all that comfortable with the ida of an alliance. “Um Flames... Do you think this is wise?â€Â
Flames ignored the question and quickly grabbed the husky's muzzle before he could say anything more and to keep it shut. “Quiet!†He growled without even looking towards Fay.
The dragon thought about it for a moment before deciding. “Very well then. But only until we defeat Malakar.â€Â
“Good. Then it's decided.†Flames said, and kept a small pause to think. “Ah yes, we haven't been properly introduced yet. I am Hokaze no Flames, but you may call me just Flames, and the husky is Fay.†Flames made a motion towards Fay who was standing beside him.
“It's nice to meet you both of you.†The dragon answered. “I'm Ravuscale.â€Â
Flames then went on to ask a question. “Do you know where Malakar is located by any chance?â€Â
“He's located far away from here. In the deepest heart of the dark lands.â€Â
Everyone turned towards the exit of the den as they heard a voice echoing through the place. The voice was arrogant, yet somewhat familiar to Flames. “Not that you'll ever get there alive.â€Â
“Who...?†Flames started to say, but before he could finish an anthro dragon had stepped out of the shadows. Flames could only make himself utter one word as the saw who it was. “Brother...â€Â
There is a bit that I had to leave out at the end, because of the nature of the last part of the chapter, just so that people know what happened without going further into detail is, that Vince killed the wolf. I can of course send the bit to anyone who wants to read it, just can't put it up because of it being a bit violent.
And as a note in the end, comment all you who read it! I want to know what you think about it.
-
Brilliant as always brother. Fay's reaction to the female wolf made me smile, as did the dialouge between Flames and Ravuscale. You continue to write the characters quite well, especially Flames. All of his behaviour perfectly fits in with his character and his experiences in this story. The contrast between now and the first two chapters really shows the development of both the characters and plot.
(Good idea about removing the violent part. Perhaps I should have done that or something similar in the past with many pieces of writing I've posted which may not be 100% suitable for the site)
-
Send the rest to me I wanna read ^^. and you have my ego to a t *chuckels* Good job!
-
I'm glad that I've been able to portray the characters so well. Thanks guys. ^.^
Here's some more to read.
Chapter Eleven: End of hope...Or beginning of a new one?
All three looked at Vince as the wolf fell down to the ground, everyone filled with different emotions about what they had just seen.
Ravus was boiling with rage at this point from seeing what the anthro dragon had just done. “Why?!†He shouted out at Vince. “Why did you have to kill her, she'd done nothing wrong to you!â€Â
Flames turned towards the large dragon, amazed at his words. Although being fierce, the dragon was now showing a soft and caring side to of himself, although he hadn't known the wolf.
Vince smirked as he looked at the dragon. “She'd served her purpose through her failure. There's nothing more to it.â€Â
Ravus let out a roar as he couldn't keep himself calm any longer. He rushed towards the anthro dragon with all his power, readying his fiery breath.
Flames didn't have the chance to stop Ravus as he went past him, only having the time to say the word 'no' as he feared for what was about to happen. He tried to quickly think of some way to avoid what was about to happen, but found no possible solution that he could think of. And to his horror he saw that Ravus was readying to shoot fire at Vince.
Flames couldn't just stand and watch his brother be burned alive, so he started running towards the two, just as Ravus got to Vince and managed in knocking him off balance.
But as Flames ran, he soon felt something stopping him and not letting go. As he turned to look what it was, he saw Fay holding on to him so that he couldn't move any further.
“No! Let go of me!†Flames cried out. “I have to do something! I can't just stand here and watch my brother be burnt alive!â€Â
Fay continued holding on to Flames, not letting go as Flames struggled to get loose. “I'm sorry...†Fay said into the fox's ear and tightened his grip.
The dragon had caught Vince off guard, making him lose hos balance and as he tried to get back up again, he saw the mighty dragons maw open up in front him, a faint red glow coming out from somewhere deep inside of it. His eyes grew wide as the entity figured out what was about to happen. “Crud...â€Â
Vince got back up on his feet just as a burst of flames came out of Ravus' maw, engulfing him inside the fire.
Flames' struggling became fainter as he saw his brother being consumed by the flames. “NO!...†He fell down on his knees as Fay let go of him, tears starting to run down his cheeks as he looked into the fire coming out of Ravus' maw.
Flames' whole world started to fall apart around him, and the only thought running through his mind being; “He's gone... His brother was gone...â€Â
Fay looked saddened at Flames, sitting down beside him as he looked towards Ravus. “I think that's enough...†He wanted to show Flames but didn't know how to put it, so he went with giving him a hug, not knowing of anything else to do. “I really am sorry Flames... But it had to be do... WHAT!?â€Â
As Ravus had stopped breathing fire, both he and Fay looked shocked towards the point
where Vince had stood before. And to their amazement, he still was. Not a single mark from the flames on his scales, but very exhausted and only barely standing.
Flames looked up, wondering why Fay had suddenly shouted out in amazement. He wiped away the tears to be able to see clearly before looking towards Fay, then Ravus, before turning his head to what they were looking at.
He couldn't believe his eyes as he saw Vince standing in front of Ravus, even though he should have been burnt to ashes by now. “B-Brother...?â€Â
The dragon looked exhausted towards Flames. “N-Nii-san...?†Then everything went black in his eyes and Vince collapsed to the ground.
As soon as Flames had heard Vince speak, he was sure that his brother was back again.
He jumped up on his feet again and rushed over to his now unconscious brother as Fay and Ravus stood by and watched them.
-
As always, the chapter is an enjoyable read and leaves me craving more. The depiction of Flames is this scene was, once again, masterfully done. I salute you, brother.
-
Nice thats freakin awsome

Chapter Twelve: Nightly pacts
Vince woke up beside the warmth of a fire, warming the bunch of furs sleeping around it although the fire was growing weaker by now. The last of the embers were still glowing and a small fire could also be seen in his eyes, symbolizing the burning fire inside of him.
The dragon looked over at the others who were asleep, and then settled his eyes on his dear brother, Flames, noticing that he was sleeping somewhat restlessly. Vince tried to stand up, to see how much strength he had left in him for the time being, and got up after a while of trying. He then made his way besides Flames, softly stroking his brothers head before heading off to find some more wood to keep the fire going.
As he walked into the dark forest, away from the fire shedding its light into the dark of night, Vince's steps grew heavier by the minute to the point where he fell down to his knees. His eyes started to flicker, the color switching from red to black, and then going back again, not being able to decide on where to stop.
The dragon punched his fist hard into the ground as he tried to stay in control, but then, the color of his eyes finally stopped, one staying it's normal fiery red, the other turning to pitch black.
“Did you think I'd go down that easily?†Vince heard himself say, although he knew he hadn't said it, not wanting to believe what his mind was telling him. “Interesting reaction we have here, isn't it? From one in control to both..â€Â
Vince tried to think of a way out of the situation, wondering if he could warn his brother before the entity did anything.
“Ohh? Trying to warn your brother now, are we?†The entity said, now being able to read the dragons ming because of the combined control of the body.
“Darn...†Vince muttered. “But that means I can read yours too.†He then said with a glimpse of hope in his voice.
“You think so? We'll see about that... So be a good dragon now and lets walk back to camp.â€Â
“Why?! So that you could kill Flames right when you get the chance?†Vince was practically shouting now, cursing his lack of power to not have been able to stop all this from happening.
The entity sighed. “I'll make a deal with you... And I can't even believe I'm saying this... I won't harm Flames, if you finish off Malakar. Although that in itself is as good as suicide.â€Â
Vince listened to the entity's proposal, letting out a sigh afterwards. “What choice do I have? But you have to promise you won't touch Flames. And what's your business with Malakar anyway?â€Â
It took a while before the entity said anything, making it obvious that he was thinking of some way to put it before finally saying anything. “Let's just say that he won't be all that pleased with me for not being able to keep you in control, and most likely wants my head on a plate anyways for failing so many times by now...â€Â
“I guess that's valid enough... Shall we go back to the others then?†Vince then tried to move his legs forwards, trying to head back towards the camp and the others, seeing that the entity wasn't resisting.
As they came back to the fire Vince put some more logs into the fire and sat down beside it, enjoying the warmth a bit before laying back down again and going back to sleep, unsure of what the next day would bring with it, and hoping that the entity would keep his promise about not hurting Flames.
-
(Plot twist!) That was a brilliant chapter and was totally unexpected. It was definately well worth the wait.
-
Glad you liked it brother. ^^ There'll be more where that came from.
-
Sweet keep it up
-
This is a guest chapter written by Flames, so the style of the writing is different from mine, but I hope you guys like it as much as I do.
Chapter Thirteen: Dreams of Hope
Flames stirred ever so slightly as Vince and the entity returned, but he remained asleep with an oddly peaceful expression on his face, even his breathing as silent as the dark night outside. Had it not been for the steady rise and fall of his chest Vince would have swore that his brother was dead. Disturbed by that thought, the dragon couldn’t help but wonder as to whether the entity could really be trusted and what had happened to his brother these past few years.
Meanwhile, within the depths of his brother’s mind, a whirlpool of emotion was spiralling wildly in direct contrast to the fiery anthro’s exterior. And there, in the midst of it all was Flames himself, deep in thought. He knew he was dreaming and so was using this time wisely to reflect on what had happened not only today, but also on everything that had happened since his brother’s disappearance.
His training had been harsh, his heart fragile and in agony. It had been very trying on him, but he had kept a little light within the darkness of his despair, a shred of hope…and somehow he managed to go on; day after day of brutal, body numbing, mind shattering, heart wrenching pain. Flames never gave up. It was with this attitude he started his search for his brother and it was with this raw determination that he swore there and then to protect his brother from the darkness that had tried to enslave him at whatever the cost.
Believing at last that his brother would be okay when he woke up, Flames kept a tight hold onto his hope and drifted into peaceful sleep…
-
*sigh of relief*
Finally finished it! After agonizing moments of not coming up with how to write this chapter I finally did it so I hope you all like it. ^.^
Chapter Fourteen: Flames times two?
Flames woke up the next morning as the sun started to rise in the sky, throwing its first rays over the treetops. He had no idea about what had happened the night before, but he could feel something being different with his brother, although not able to put his finger on what it was.
Flames decided to take a stroll in the woods before the rest would wake up, thinking about the dream he had had last night, and still going on about the happenings of late, trying to get some sense to it all. His training, the kidnapping of his brother, and generally everything that had happened in the five years since Vince had gone missing.
And all this seemed to somehow revolve around himself, as if he was something special.
It didn't make much sense to him at the moment, so he decided to make go back and see if the others had woken up already.
At the camp, the others had started waking up and noticed that Flames wasn't there, although they took no bigger concern about it, knowing that he'd be back in a while. Vince, who was one of the first ones to wake up from the group by the fire, took a good look at the others while they were still sleeping. A husky and a full-blood dragon. What on odd bunch, he though.
Ravus and Fey woke up soon after Vince, and after a moments silence they started to chat. They then talked about Vince's and Flames' past, not knowing of something that was heading right at them from the sky at high speed...
The anthro at inside her mechanic pod, trying to steer it down to the planet without getting burnt up at the same time. She moved her paws with quick movements over the different buttons and controls, keeping an eye on everything, not able to afford any slip-ups. Just ten minutes ago she had been fighting a hard headed evil scientist, and now she was stuffed into a pod, somewhere in space. She couldn't believe she had fallen for such a trap, but there was not much she could do about that in her current situation, so she tried to focus her mind on the task at hand and survive through this.
As the pod hit the planets atmosphere, it started to glow red, getting warmer and warmer, so the anthro had to do something fast or she would be burnt alive. She hit a couple of buttons, getting the pod to slow down its fall, but it still wasn't enough.
The fiery anthro cursed her lack of knowledge about this kind of technology, and slammed her fists into the control table. And just then, the pod seemed to slow down just enough so that it wouldn't be burnt up while going through the planets atmosphere.
The anthro looked out the the main window, seeing all the trees down below, noting that she would hit ground in a couple of minutes.
“This is going to hurt...†She thought to herself.
Meanwhile, Flames made his way back towards the camp, looking at the trees around him. He was still deep in his own thoughts as he came to a clearing up ahead, looking at it from side to side.
The fox anthro took a while crossing the clearing, looking at the peaceful scenery around him as he went. When he had waked a bit into the woods at the other side, he suddenly heard a roaring sound from behind him, following a loud crash. Flames turned around quickly to see a huge pile of dust coming from the same direction where the clearing he had just walked through was. Not knowing what had happened there, he spurted back into the direction of the crash, back to the clearing.
As he came to the edge of the trees, Flames looked at all the dust in the air, trying to see what had crashed there. With slow, cautious steps, Flames made his way closer to the crash site, soon covered inside the smoke. As the dust cleared off, a metallic pod came into sight from under a pile of rubble.
Flames, curious to what it was, went towards it, having drawn the X-sabre and having it ready at hand if needed, when the pod suddenly cracked and opened up.
A slender paw, covered in fiery fur, pushed open the hatch of the pod, peeking her head out and looking around before jumping out of the pod.
Flames could nothing but let his jaw drop as he looked at the female anthro that stepped out of the mechanical pod. She was like and exact copy of him: the fiery fur, the fox-like characteristics, although being much more slender and having such elegance.
If someone had seen them, he would have thought he was hallucinating, because the two were so alike, yet so different at the same time. One male, the other female...
-
No comments... Now that's boring...
Here's chapter 15.
Chapter Fifteen: Introducing, HoKaze no Blaze
As Blaze jumped out of the pod, she looked had a quick look around the spot where she had landed, although not noticing Flames, who standing only a few feet away from the pod. Blaze then started looking at how much damage the pod had sustained from the crash, muttering to herself as she looked at the damage.
“Great job guys...†She muttered to herself. “This is just fantastic... They said that they had taken everything into calculation and then this happens?!†She then kicked at the pod, hurting her hind paw. “Blasted piece of... Ouch!â€Â
Frustrated, Blaze looked into the pod and taking out a piece of metal that had been a sword at some point, throwing it aside after looking at it.
“Ah... The glories of time travel thanks to an evil mastermind...â€Â
Blaze then looked around another time, and this time noticing Flames who was still just standing silently and looking at her.
“Oh. Heya Flames.†Blaze said, turning back to the pod again. Then something struck her, making her turn around and look curiously at Flames again. “Flames?â€Â
Flames, who had simply stood silently watching her, finally snapped back to life with the mentioning of his name.
“What?†Flames replied, before remembering who he was talking to. “Wait, how do you know my name? And who are you..? You look like me, but at the same time anyone can see that you aren't...†Flames looked confused at the other anthro, the sheer impossibleness of the situation hurting his brain.
“Ah... Still walking in the dark eh, Flames?†Blaze turned back to face Flames, leaning backwards on the pod. “But I'll shed some light into the situation, to help you out a bit. I, am HoKaze no Blaze. And I am you, as you are me.†Blaze then smirked, continuing to look at Flames and leaning on the pod a bit more. “Well... Somewhere in space and time at least.â€Â
Flames tried to understand all that Blaze was telling him, but even as he tried his hardest it still made no sense to him. “HoKaze no... Blaze? That makes no sense at all!†Flames held up his paws to his head, starting to walk in a circle and rubbing his hurting head.
“That's delusional! No, completely insane!†He made a stop and turned towards Blaze, his gaze trying to drill its way through her very being.
Blaze shrugged. “Flames, Flames, Flames... Snap out of that illusion of yours and start believing your eyes.†She then started walking towards Flames, looking around. “Although... I can't find any memories of this place...â€Â
Flames noticed the small loophole that had shown itself with Blaze's last sentence, deciding to go for it. “And that proves that you can't be me, because otherwise you'd remember this place, and have my memories.â€Â
“Not exactly†Blaze replied shortly thereafter. “It just means that these memories are locked somewhere deep inside my mind, or, I have yet to experience them.â€Â
“And in plain English?†Flames answered, simply more confused from the way the conversation was going.
“Which means I just need to unlock them first.â€Â
Blaze had now started moving towards Flames, taking gracious steps forward.
Flames took a few steps backwards as Blaze moved towards him. “And how do you intend to do that?â€Â
“It's pretty simple actually. I just need to activate the parts of our brains that hold the memories while touching each other.â€Â
Blaze was now standing right in front of Flames, looking at him.
“And how do you intend to do that?â€Â
“It's easy, just relax and it'll be done before you know it.†Blaze gave a reassuring smile to make Flames relax, before suddenly leaning in to kiss him.
As Flames tried to relax, he didn't have enough time to react to what Blaze was doing before her lips had locked on to his own and his cheeks went to glowing a bright red. Flames every muscle became stiff as his cheeks continued to glow red, making him unable to move until Blaze broke the kiss and stepped back.
“There, all done. Now let's see what we got, shall we?â€Â
Blaze then started going through the short bits of memories that she had unlocked inside her mind, noting the major things that showed up over and over again.
“Hmm... Traveling... Meeting people... X-sabre... Brother... Kiss...†Blaze then suddenly stopped her counting of things that had happened to Flames. “Hold on... Brother? You have a brother?! And what was that last thing now? Ooh...†Blazed growled for a short while before hearing some movements from the bushes a short walk away from them and stopped.
After a short while, Vince, Ravus and Fay come out of the bushes, stopping with a confused look as they see Flames and Blaze standing face to face in front of them. They weren't able to say anything, simply look at the two with a confused look on their faces.
-
It wasn't what I was expecting, but the suprise made everything so much better! :)
I love the way you wrote Blaze, Flames' confusion and the whole scene in general. Heck, I think you wrote Blaze's personality better than I could! I'm impressed and really enjoyed that chapter!
-
wow.... there's no way that came from you....
That was awesome!!!! ^_^
-
Thanks guys. ^-^
And Flames, how could I write your characters better than yourself? That's a bit weird, isn't it?
-
Thanks guys. ^-^
And Flames, how could I write your characters better than yourself? That's a bit weird, isn't it?
Not really, I'm not always that good at transferring my crazy ideas into words. You however, were able to seize the "essence" of Blaze and write her into your world masterfully.

Chapter 16, ready to be read.
Wow... Can't believe I'm this far already in the story. Hope everyone's enjoyed it so far, also the ones that just read it.
Chapter Sixteen: Confusions
Vince, Fey and Ravus had been talking for a while when they heard the sudden crash and the cloud of dust that had been shot into the air. They had rushed over to see what had happened, but nothing could have prepared them to what they were going to see next.
As they came through the bushes and to the clearing, they firstly saw Flames, but the second figure was what amazed them to the point of confusion.
A female anthro that looked exactly like Flames, even though her obviously more slender and gracious female body. She truly was like an exact copy of him.
When the silence at last broke, Flames could do nothing but blush because of Blaze's kiss, although it had only been to serve the purpose for giving Blaze enough knowledge about what was going on.
When Flames then gathered his thoughts, he made a gesture for the others to come over to them, the obvious confusion of the situation still apparent on their faces.
“Blaze, these are my friends...â€Â
But before Flames could continue with his sentence, he'd been interrupted by Blaze who had stepped forwards towards the group.
“It's okay Flames, I know who they are.†Blaze then gave Flames a smile. “Shared memories, remember?†She then turned towards the others again, searching the scattered memories in her mind for their names. “Let's see now... Vince, is it? Brother, against all odds...†Blaze then made her way to Vince, eying him as throughly as she could before moving her fingers over his scaled chest, making him blush. “My my Flames... You really made a good catch with this one.â€Â
With that, she made her way to the next one in line: Ravus.
“Ravuscale, a powerful dragon and one of the few survivors of his race... I'm sure he'll prove useful in what's still to come.â€Â
Blaze then made her way to Fay, starting to growl as she stood in front of him, making the husky take a step backwards.
“You... You should just feel lucky that I'm not more than five inches away from hurting you very badly.†Fay let out a whimper hearing this, taking another step backwards.
Vince and Ravus looked even more confused at Blaze now, wondering how she possibly could know their names and relations to Flames, although, in their eyes Blazes reaction to Fay was more than odd considering the circumstances.
But in Blaze's eyes, Fay had done something that not many others never had. Fay's kiss might not mean much here, but fact was, that it happened so rarely that Blaze could possibly use her own fingers to count them. So many tears shed because of what never came to be, so many friends lost through time...
Blaze turned away from Fay, a faint tear running down her cheek.
“Damn...†Blaze murmured to herself, wiping away the tear from her cheek before anyone noticed it. “I've gotten soft with all this time...†She then looked up again, turning towards Flames. “Shall we get going then?â€Â
“What?†Flames looked up from his thoughts. “Yes, of course.†But before Flames had time to take more than a few steps, he remembered that he hadn't introduced Blaze to the others. “Oh yeah... Everyone, this is Blaze. She'll be accompanying us from here onwards.â€Â
Blaze tilted her head to the side as Flames spoke, before turning around and bowing to the others with a slight grin on her face. “HoKaze no Blaze, at your service.â€Â
-
*Claps hands* Bravo! Yet again this scene flowed together perfectly. Blaze's sadness and how she reacts to the kiss Flames was executed masterfully, the mentioning of its rarity and her own feelings both were very true to Flames' series.
The group's confusion, Flames' deep thinking and his hesitant, absentmindedness all enriches this even further. Might I also add that Blaze's attitude towards each character (especially Vince) made me smile.
Excellent chapter brother!
-
sweet like it ^^
-
Whoo... Just read the entirety of 16 chapters in one sitting. Guess I just couldn't stop after a while!
Great characters, definitely. Each one is different, unique, and really well thought out. :) I gotta say that in the time you've been writing this you've gotten quite a bit better. The story's intriguing, and the subtle hints and foreshadowing keep me on my toes ^^
After looking a bit, I realized something. I really can't find anything to criticize for the most part... The only thing I can really find are a few spelling errors, but those are unavoidable unless you go back and reread everything. I'm watching this story, that's for sure! :P
-
Heh. Thanks a lot Devault, and everyone else for that matter. :D My reply is somewhat late because I've been kinda busy lately, and I was hoping to finish chapter 17 before posting.
But anyways, here it is then chapter 17, after a long wait and lots of hardships for my part. But I can say that I can see that end coming in the distance already, don't know if that's a good thing or not, but every story has to end sometime, right?
Enjoy everyone. :)
Chapter Seventeen: Towards darkness
“Who is she?†The same question had been going through Vince's, Ravus' and Fay's minds during the whole time they had been standing still, looking at Blaze. And when she finally did say her name, after Flames reminding her to do so, none of the
three could hold back the next thing that formed in their minds, hence why it came out as a loud burst from everyone.
“WHAT!?â€
The whole thing about Blaze knowing so much about them was confusing itself, but that her name was almost completely the same to Flames' was even more confusing, making the three look at each other in disbelief before turning to Flames for an explanation.
Flames simply shrugged off the looks and walked up to them, taking his time before saying anything.
“I'm just as confused as you are... But somehow, it just feels true... I can't really explain it, but she is who she says that she is.â€
“Hold on a moment...†Vince took a step forward, motioning to Flames to wait a second. “Does that mean we're related, nii-san?â€
Flames hesitated a bit before answering. “Yes and no. Although the fact that she is me, somewhere in time and space, I'm not sure if you can relate her to you really...â€
“Yeah, I guess so...†Vince took another look at Blaze, who was standing a bit away from everyone else. “This is all just really confusing right now.â€
“You're telling me...†the entity mumbled inside Vince's mind.
Vince was shocked by suddenly hearing the entity inside his mind, quickly turning away from Flames and walked to a short distance from him. “Hey! Don't you start poking your nose in other people's business. You've caused enough trouble as is.â€
“Me? Trouble? Oh come on... You know you liked all the power and fear,†the entity answered, clear sarcasm in his voice.
Vince went silent, unable to fight back against what the entity had said, but just then, he felt a paw on his shoulder, making him turn around. It was Flames who stood there, looking concerned at his brother.
“Is everything alright, nii-san?â€
Vince looked at Flames for a moment before answering. “Yeah, everything is fine. Don't worry about me.â€
“You sure nii-san? Flames took a closer look at Vince. “Hold on a sec... Your eyes, they look different somehow...â€
“It's nothing. Let's just continue, okay?†Vince turned away from Flames, starting to head on forward.
Flames let out a sigh and shook his head as he wondered what was going on with his brother, he was always so warm and compassionate, so this wasn't like him at all. But yet, Flames gathered his thoughts and turned towards the others.
“Okay, we're heading onwards everyone. And Blaze, could I have a chat with you as we go?â€
With that, the group was on the move again. Vince, who was lead the way, kept silent for the rest of the day, but the others were having eager discussions behind him; Flames talking with Blaze, and Fay talking with Ravus.
Flames looked at Blaze as they walked. “How far does your memories of this place extent now, thanks to what you did?â€
Blaze looked back at Flames. “I'm not sure... But for now, it looks like I only have parts of the things that have happened to you so far, although...â€
Flames continued looking at Blaze as she lost herself in her own thoughts. “Although what?â€
“Spoilers.†Blaze had quickly snapped out of her thoughts by Flames words, but didn't give Flames the answer he was hoping for, though her mind was exploding with different images from all of Flames past lifetimes, some good, others bad. And it was at times, that she had a hard time stopping the flow of distant memories from popping up in her thoughts. But what was different from all the other times this had happened was, that many of the images she was seeing now, were such that she had never seen before.
But there was something connecting it all, a figure always standing in the shadows, barely visible, but always there, looking over all that happened.
Blaze didn't know who the person was, but he, or was it a she? Had some strange resemblance to someone she had seen before. She couldn't help but wonder what this person enclosed by shadows had to do with what was going to happen, but his, or her, part would be very big in the end.
Fay and Ravus had been talking about their thoughts about Blaze a while, exchanging their different ideas and speculations about her. A person who looked almost exactly like Flames, and he had just taken her with them, not telling the others why.
“I wonder if it really is a good idea to take her with us?†Fays asked after a while of talking with Ravus.
“I don't know.†Ravus replied. “But it is his choice in the end so...â€
“I guess you're right, hon.â€
Ravus gave a sharp look at Fay. “How many times have I told you not to call me that? Can't you get that into your little brain, or is it too full with images of all the guys you've seduced?â€
Fay blushed hearing Ravus' words and looked away for a while. “It's just a habit. And as you know, old habits die hard.â€
They then continued walking, chatting about things that had happened as of late.
While continuing further, everyone started to notice how the landscape was becoming more rough by the moment, and after a while longer, the sky itself had started to turn pitch-black. At nightfall they came to a high cliff, looking over a huge wasteland. And in the middle of it all, Malakar's fortress...
-
What can I say? Another great chapter bro, although it's a little sad knowing that it'll soon be over. I can't help but wonder what everyone is talking about...
In any case the characters are as well-written as always, with the interactions between Vince and Flames being handled well.
You should take a nice long break now :)
-
I think I should actually write now what they were talking about, to get some more into the chapter. And I'm not going to take a long break from writing, I just did. :P So expect there to be a modification of the chapter sometime in the future, before the next chapter.
-
Go ahead and take a break, I take breaks every once in a while from my story XP All writers deserve rest!
And another good chapter as well ^^
-
Okay, I have now added some more to the last chapter, so go ahead and read it again if you could everyone, because there's new things there to read.
And thanks for your thoughts Devault. ^.=.^
-
that's..... ~stops, mouth hanging open~ way chic. (shee-kk)
-
Thanks. :D Really appreciate it.^.=.^
-
Heh, no problem Vince.
I like the new little portion you added, made me laugh ^^
-
you're welcome. ^^ Always glad to give compliments. ^,^
-
^.=.^ Now I just need to keep it interesting 'till the end. No problemo. :)
And now this dwaggy is off to bed and think off what will happen in the next chapter.
-
Heh, thinking time is always good. If you sit on the computer and just type, it's going to come out how you want it to... Planning is good ^^
But seeing what you've written so far, keeping it entertaining shouldn't be a problem.
-
Very good addition bro, Blaze's thoughts are done perfectly and feel very true to her character and her reply of "Spoilers" made me chuckle. Ravus' & Fay's dialogue flowed very well too, keep it up 'til the end! :)
-
Thanks guys. ^.=.^
I should be getting around to posting the next chapter in a few days time, schoolwork allowing.
-
I look forward to it. :)
-
Gyargh!!!!!!!!! That was a frustrating time of not being able to get this damn chapter done... But here it is, at long last! Chapter 18!
Chapter Eighteen: Marching towards the end (Taking on the fortress)
As the next morning dawned over the group of anthros that had camped on the cliff, everyone could feel the tension in the air as they slowly woke up and started to make themselves ready for the decisive battle. After checking all the equipment they had, everyone started to think of a battle plan, because simply rushing into the fortress would probably not be the wisest of ideas.
It was well over mid-day before they had come up with a plan that might actually work, and with that they started to head off. It was a good walk to the fortress, and the air seemed to get thicker the closer they got.
After a while, the group split into two; one group consisting of Vince and Ravus, the other one of Flames, Blaze and Fay. And before long Vince and Ravus took flight and headed onwards to the castle by air, ahead of the others.
Ravus looked at Vince as the come closer and closer to the dark fortress. “Do you think this will work?â€
Vince looked back at Ravus as he replied. “I'm not sure... Even with all my knowledge about the place and what awaits us behind those walls... I have no idea how this will end. Well, there's only two ways how this can possibly end... One good, and one terrible.â€
Ravus was hoping for the better option as they came closer and closer to the fortress.
As Vince looked around at the wasteland, he noticed that it was oddly barren, and foremost, it was completely empty. Where were all the monsters? All the creatures of darkness that roamed around these parts, making up a fearsome wall of evil that none had been able to push through. Where was it? He thought.
They couldn't have this much look, it couldn't be possible. And as he hard as the dragon though, he just couldn't find a possible solution to it. It didn't make any sense.
As Vince and Ravus came close to the fortress, and saw into the courtyard, things started to suddenly fall into place. As they looked into the courtyard, they could see that it was colored red with blood, tons of it, which did explain why there weren't anyone to be seen anywhere. But it still left one question unanswered; how?
Flames, Blaze and Fay had been walking towards the fortress, mentally preparing themselves for battle. But as they came close enough to the fortress, they saw that Vince and Ravus had made up a small camp outside the large stone gates, much unlike what they had planned earlier.
The group ran up to the two others, wondering why on earth they had camped there, the place was supposed to be squirming with danger.
Vince looked at Flames with a slightly confused, yet scared, look to it. “Not anymore it seems...â€
Flames looked confusedly at his brother, not understanding what he meant. So he decided to go look inside th courtyard for himself.
“I wouldn't do that if I were you, nii-san.†Vince said, but didn't get up to stop his brother from taking a look, though he knew what awaited behind those gates.
What awaited Flames when he looked inside the courtyard were huge amounts of blood, scattered throughout the place, and an overwhelming stench of rotten flesh and decay. It made Flames want to throw up right the instant he peeked his head through the open gap between the gates. The fox put his paw over his muzzle, quickly covering his nose from the stench from inside and made his way away from the gate, holding back the overwhelming impulse to throw up at that instant.
It was like nothing Flames had ever experienced before.
Flames looked in horror at his brother who sat a few feet away from him. “What... What happened here?â€
“Beats me...†Vince had now turned towards Flames, looking into his eyes. “There doesn't seem to be any life anywhere in the fortress either...â€
“So you're telling me... That everyone that was here... Is dead?†This was all going way over Flames' comprehension. It was too much to try to understand at the same time.
“We can't be sure if we don't go in there, but from where we're standing right now, it seems pretty dead in there.â€
Flames thought about it for a moment, thinking about what options they had. “I wonder... Are you two able to carry the three of us over the courtyard and into the fortress if when flying?†Flames looked at Vince and Ravus as he spoke, wondering what it looked like inside the fortress itself.
“I guess we could...†Ravus replied to Flames. “But Vince will have to carry Fay, because he is certainly not coming up on my back.â€
Fay poked out his tongue at Ravus, hearing this, but didn't make any bigger deal out of it. “Okay then, mr killjoy.â€
“I should be able to do it.†Vince said. “And I think I saw a good place on the roof where we should be able to get in easily.â€
Flames nodded. “Good. Then let us get moving, and try to find out what on earth happened here.â€
So it was decided. Vince carried Fay, and Ravus took Flames and Blaze to the roof of the large fortress. When they landed, the stench wasn't all that powerful there, as it had been down on the courtyard. They then slowly entered the fortress, walking down a set of chairs to find them walking into a large hall. The room wasn't all that well lit, so it was fairly dark, and there were no windows to let in any light so the only light-sources were the faintly burning torches on the walls.
Flames was very weary as he stepped forwards into the large, chamber-like room, glancing around for the slightest hints of movement or life besides them as he grabbed a torch from the wall.
There was only silence in there to meet them, and the only sound that could be heard were the steps of the group as they slowly made their way to the center of the large chamber. They stood as a group in the center, peering around, looking for clues about where they were. And before long, Flames saw something in the darkness, that looked like a person sitting on a chair, leaning backwards on it as if he were asleep.
With a few steps forward, and trying to get the light from the torch to light up the figure covered in darkness, Flames tried to see who it was. He took a few more steps, and when
the light finally shone on the character in the chair, that came out as a throne, Flames jumped back in fear as he saw the twisted face of a dragon-like creature sitting there, a dagger sticking out from his chest.
Flames gathered his strength and lifted the torch up again, shining the light over the character as he took a second look on him. “Could it be...†Flames thought and shook away the thought. “It couldn't possibly...â€
The others had by this point noticed Flames finding something, and made their way over to him and looking at the dead dragon on the throne. Vince, recognizing the character stepped forwards and stood besides Flames, a smirk on his muzzle. “It's Malakar...â€
-
:shcoked: Plot twist! DUN DUN DUH!
What can I say bro? Unexpected but brilliant, this just gets better and better! :)
(I already have a few crazy ideas starting to form about what happened...)
-
Heh. Thanks bro. I was pretty quick with finishing chapter 19, and decided to post it on Ravus's request already now, instead of tomorrow. :P Won't Flames be surprised? Heh.
Chapter Nineteen: Malakar
Everyone looked shocked at Vince, not being able to understand how this could possibly be the mighty Malakar everyone feared, that was now sitting dead on his throne, stabbed to the death.
But Flames was distracted by something else as the others were speculating about what had happened, something was calling out to him, a faint voice, just loud enough to be heard. It was talking to the fox, telling him to go closer to the throne. And as Flames got closer, the voice had made him to grab the dagger that had pierced the fearsome creature and pulled it out.
Blaze, who had looked around from the rest of the group, noticed Flames standing awfully close to Malakar's corpse, and tried to see what the other fox was doing. To her horror, she noticed that Flames was about to pull out the dagger from the body, making her shout out to him as she rushed forward. “Flames, no!â€
But it was too late, Flames had already drawn out the dagger.
At first, nothing happened, but that's when everything started going wrong. The torches in the room had suddenly started burning brightly, lighting up the whole chamber. And with the light flowing inside the room, a large hoard of shadows started moving around on the floor and surrounding the group as they looked in horror around them.
The shadowy characters were everywhere now, and they started creating black orbs in their hands and sending them flying towards Flames who was holding the dagger that had pierced Malakar's body.
Flames, trying to shield himself with the small dagger suddenly realized that the orbs were all sucked into the dagger, and after a short while of infusing into it, a large lightning of energy went flying through the room and hit Malakar's body, lifting it into the air as his eyes flew open, dark energy flowing out from his mouth, nostrils and eyes as he slowly glided down to the floor, standing on his two hind legs again, dark energy flowing through him as never before. And those eyes... Those blood-red eyes of his, that went over the room as he came back to life again, scanning through every being, after being trapped in the dagger for ages. “So... I see that you were after all weaker than your father had thought...†Malakar's dark voice made the group tremble. It was so fearsome, and so evil that the smallest whisper could be frightening.
Flames looked in fear at the dragon, looking confused at the same time. “My... My father!?â€
“Pesky little thing, he was... And the disgrace to all of the dragons... Marrying a being as lowly as a fox.â€
Flames growled as Malakar spoke, Vince also starting to get angry at the dragon, because they were his parents too, after all.
“How dare you!? How dare you speak of them like that!?†Flames was shouting at Malakar, shaking with rage.
Malakar shook his head. “I don't think you're in much of a position to make any threats here, Flames, neither are you, half-breed.†He had turned his attention to Vince for a brief moment. Before raising his paw, holding his paw out as he looked back at Flames. “You know... That dagger is cursed...†And with a snap of his fingers, Malakar made the dagger flue itself to Flames' paw, starting to shake and making him point the dagger at himself. “Whoever happens to draw out that dagger and release me... Has to die.†Malakar grinned now as he spoke, holding his eyes fixed on the male fox. “Guess you're lowlife of a father never thought that the one to draw it out would be his own son.â€
Flames couldn't fight it all that well, his paw wasn't obeying him, and was with a huge force trying to push the dagger into him, while Malakar looked with content while the poor fox tried to struggle for his life.
“It's no use fighting it. It won't stop until it has had its share of fresh blood.â€
Flames started crying as he looked at his friends. He had brought this upon himself, and now he had to pay the price. “I'm... I'm sorry everyone... I guess... This is ...Goodbye...â€
Everyone else of the group looked with horror at Flames, not being able to do anything. “No... Not like this...†Vince had stepped forward towards Flames, but he was quickly pushed away by his brother. He started to cry now. “There has to be some way other...â€
Flames looked at his brother who was about to brake, his cheeks completely wet now from tears. “There's no other way, nii-san... You must fight on without me... Farewell... My friends...â€
He then stopped resisting, letting his paw do what it wished and thrust the blade into his chest, welcoming it for the chance to let the others continue fighting, and as a punishment for what he had done... He closed his eyes, waiting for the rush of pain to run through his body as the dagger would pierce his smooth skin and make his blood flow out through the cut, coloring his fiery fur red with his own blood...
-
awesome I liked it
-
Whilst it all being a trap by Malakar was something I guessed would happen, this particular sudden turn of events is something I had not anticipated.
Very well done bro, and something that oddly enough would fit in extrememly well with my writing considering how often Flames tends to end up in these sort of sacrifice-situations :P
(And yes I was quite suprised nii-san!)
-
Wow, really good job there. I like the ellipses at the end, showing that it's not quite over yet... Or is it? Gah, I'm torturing myself ^^;
-
Thanks guys. Really appreciate the comments. ^.=.^ And these last few chapters have really been interesting for me as well while writing, and also sentimental at some points. Specially chapters 19 and 20. So here we have the continuance to the story! Chapter 20!
Chapter Twenty: Unexpected reunion
But it never came. Even though Flames paw had stopped and he could feel something running down on his paws, there was no pain at all. Flames slowly opened his eyes again to see what had happened, and to his amazement and shock, Fay was standing right in front of him, having put himself in the way of the dagger and looked at Flames with tears in his eyes as he coughed up blood.
“Why...?†Flames had started crying again now, looking at his friend stand there, slowly but surely bleeding to death.
“Because... You were the first one to accept me for who I was...†The husky was coughing a lot as he spoke. “And I wanted... To repay... Your kindness to me...â€
Fay then wrapped his arms around the fox and giving him a passionate kiss, whispering three words into the others ear just before his body went limp in Flames arms, falling down on him as he closed his eyes for the last time.
Flames was crying more than ever now, holding they husky in his arms, shaking him in vain to try and wake him up. “No!†He shouted. “You can't do this! You can't leave me!â€
Flames put Fay's body down on the ground, burying his face in the husky's chest and pounding on it at the same time as more tears ran down his muzzle. “You can't... Not after that...â€
Everyone had fallen silent as Fay had put himself in line of the dagger, holding their breath as they watched at what happened.
Malakar was the first one to break the silence. “Oh well... Guess you can't always get it right on the first try...†The dragon shook his head, glancing at Flames kneeling over the now deceased husky. He then snapped his fingers for a second time, making Fay's body disappear from under Flames and making him growl in anger at Malakar.
“Now now... I was just doing you a favor there, fox-boy. You'll need your concentration.†Malakar then turned his back towards the others, raising a paw over his head so that it was completely visible to the rest. “And I still have a few tricks up my sleeve, so to say. I've been researching your background, Flames. And I'm not talking about here, but everywhere. And what did I find as a result of all my researching you may ask? Let me show it to you!†The dragon snapped his fingers for the third time, lighting up a corner of the room that no-one had bothered investigating earlier.
There was a strange-looking machine there that suddenly started moving and making odd sounds as the machinery came to life. Suddenly there was a sudden flash of light that went through every corner of the room, bouncing off the walls as a figure had materialized inside the machine.
To the appearance it looked like a female, but she didn't have any fur on her, and was pretty much everything that an anthro is not. She was... Human?
As the group looked at the confused human that had been sucked there like out of thin air, it suddenly it Blaze who she was, as the disoriented human continued to look around, holding a blaster in her hand and trying to gaze through the room at all the people standing there.
Blaze now started panicking as her thoughts came up with possible things that could come out of this, running over to Flames who had just seen the human but hadn't had a good glimpse of her and covered his eyes, muttering to herself. “No, no, no, no! You can't remember, you mustn't remember!â€
Flames struggled against Blaze's grip, managing to get her off him so that he could take another look, just as the humans eyes had contrasted after the teleportation and settled on Flames, leaving her speechless. “F... Fla... Flames..?†It was all she could manage to say.
Flames looked confused at her, not being able to understand how she knew his name before it suddenly hit him. A large strain of memories, long since gone had started rushing back into his brain. A whole lifetime came back to him in an instant. Everything he had forgotten: Neo Babylon, Phantom, Xan, Omega... and then her. That one person that had meant so much to him.
Flames shed a tear as he remembered it all, saying only one word: “Levi?†He then dropped to the floor, unconscious from the sudden rush of lost memories that made it feel like his head was about to burst.
Levi rushed over to Flames, now noticing Blaze who was looking at her. “Long time no see... Leviathan 'Levi' Aquaous...â€
And to make things clear for all the readers, I suggest you read Flames' story, The Hero Eternal: Warrior, to close up loose ends in this chapter. It can be found here:

Woah, just when I think I have you figured out bro you throw that into the mix! Very unexpected and very clever nii-san, brilliant chapter! :)
-
Awesome story, Vince (Yep, I finally found the time and patience to red it xP)
The last chapters were... *trails off*
They were simply amazing, I can't wait for the rest.
-
Arougrhsögjhuerg! This chapter is taking me forever to write! One month without getting a new chapter up is really frustrating... Thank you all for your patience with me guys.
-
Hehe, good stories take time. It happens, getting stuck on some part.
-
Finally! Chapter 21 is finished! Took me forever, but here it finally is! :-[
Chapter Twenty One: The Last Stand
Flames had drifted into a sleep that was filled with memories, long since past. It was like a never ending nightmare, as image after image passed in front of his eyes. Flames tried to shut them out, but all in vain as the images continued showing up and almost torturing him.
At the same time, Levi was still trying to wake him up, shaking the unconscious anthro, while Blaze stood beside her, shaking her head. “It's not going to work, give him some time...â€
“The question is, do you have that much time to offer him?†Malakar, who had been watching amusedly at what had happened, stood now beside the two and looked down at Flames.
Levi looked up at the dragon, still somewhat confused about what was going on. “W-What do you mean?â€
Malakar bent down closer to Levi. “The question is, my sweet... If there's anything left of him by the time he wakes up.â€
Blaze started growling at Malakar and Levi stood up, aiming her blaster towards the dragon as Vince and Ravus also moved between Flames and Malakar.
“You're not laying on paw on him.†Vince said, the rest of the group nodding behind him as they took an attack stance and looked towards Malakar.
Malakar looked amused at this, not the scared at the least. “Pathetic... You couldn't defeat me even if you were twice as many.â€
The dragon then clenched his fist, dark energy gathering around his paw, creating a huge energy-wave that sent the group flying backwards as he moved his arm horizontally in the air ahead of them. “Truly pathetic... You have absolutely no chance of defeating me.â€
But to Malakar's surprise everyone stood up again, not wanting to give up.
Levi looked at Malakar standing beside Flames' unconscious body, aiming with her blaster and pulling the trigger, sending an blast towards the dragon which was then dispersed by and energy shield that had formed around Malakar. “It's not a matter of who's stronger that tells us how a battle will end...â€
“That's why you got to keep on going, whatever happens...†Blaze had stepped forward as she spoke, lunging towards Malakar, trying to lands blows on the dragon, though all in vain and having to jump back beside everyone else.
“So we have to give Flames all the time we can, because... We believe in him...†Ravus had now stepped forth, readying his fiery breath and sending a burst of fire towards Malakar, though the other dragon had avoided it with his energy shield again.
“That's why we fight... Until we can fight no more... Flames showed us that.†Vince lunged forward now, grabbing his double katana and sending blow after blow towards Malakar, and finished with a shot of his fiery breath towards the dragon from close range, before jumping back to the others.
Malakar looked at the four in front of him, starting to see the potential they had in them as he wiped away some blood from his cheek, because Vince had managed to land a hit on him, though a very small one at that.
This time, all for of them lunged towards Malakar, making the dragon evade and counter attacks more than he could keep up with, although he did manage to block most of it.
Punches, slashes, fire blaster shots came flying towards Malakar, making him back away from Flames who was still unconscious.
“Damn it...†Malakar thought, starting to see that he was outnumbered pretty fast when they came at him, all at once. He then sent another energy wave towards the group, sending them flying backwards again and giving him some more time to gather up more energy, so that's just what he did. Malakar started absorbing the dark creatures that were gathered at the walls, who were blocking all ways out of the chamber, now making him stronger.
Vince, Ravus, Levi and Blaze could nothing but watch as Malakar grew stronger than before, the dark energy flowing into him, and magnifying his powers immensely.
But then, the flow of energy into Malakar suddenly stopped like it had hit a wall, and a cough could be heard. Everything stood still as Malakar then looked down after a moment looked down, seeing a sharp object sticking out from his chest as he started coughing up some blood, feeling at it and watching his own blood covering his paw.
“Who..?â€
As he then looked back, Malakar saw to his horror that it was Flames who stood there, having pierced his chest with the X-Sabre.
Malakar then growled angrily at Flames as he was about to turn around to grab the anthro fox, but suddenly feeling pain from his heart, making him turn around and look what was causing it.
The rest of the group had just sat on the ground, wondering what had happened when Malakar had all of a sudden stopped absorbing more energy, but Vince, or rather, the entity inside him, had noticed what had really happened and plunged forward, sinking his claws into Malakar's chest, right in front of the dragons heart and started muttering an incantation, making all the dark energy in Malakar transfer into Vince before it had time to disappear into nothing as the demonic dragon fell dead on the ground.
Flames let out a sigh as Malakar fell down on the ground in front if him, having woken up just in time. “It's over...â€
But as Flames was surprised to see his brother standing on the other side of Malakar. “Brother, what are you..?†But to his horror, Vince had started to glow from the dark energy he had absorbed from Malakar, his eyes having turned completely black again, after having had one black and one red.
Vince looked up, feeling the newly acquired power flowing inside him, sending Flames flying into the wall as a rush of energy was released from him. “Over? Far from it.â€

Wow, just wow...I am speechless bro, you truly have outdone yourself this time and blown my writing clear away with this chapter. Sheer brilliance.
I was very touched by everyone's efforts and whilst I can honestly say I expected the entity to trun against Vince at the last moment and seize total control again, I didn't quite imagine it like this and it suprised me nonetheless. Masterfully executed brother, I expect the next highly emotional chapter to be amazing too.
-
.......... Wow......
I don't know what to say. It's simply amazing. And the way everyone joined to help Flames.....
Why did the chapter end like that?? I can't wait for the next one :3

Chapter Twenty Two: Through fire and darkness
Flames looked petrified at his brother after having forcefully flown into the wall. This can't be... He though to himself in shock. Not now... Not like this...
As Flames tried to gather himself, the entity inside Vince was already taking action and wasn't leaving the fox much time to get his act together. The entity knew that one of Flames' only weaknesses was his brother, so he intended do take full advantage of the situation now that he was in control over the dragon again. He felt at the newly acquired powers, quickly summoning an orb the size of a fist between his paws and smiled as he felt the power flow through him. It was like nothing he had felt before.
At the same time in the other side of the room, Levi, Blaze and Ravus were simply looking at what was going on, not sure if the should intervene or not, but Levi was the first one to take make a move, having grown angry at just standing and watching as Flames had flown into the wall. But as she took a step forward, Blaze suddenly stopped her, shaking her head.
“Let me go!†The human shouted, trying to get past the fox that was holding her back.
“No...†Blaze then said in a calm tone, standing her ground as she made a glance towards her counterpart. “This is his battle, not ours.â€
Levi was growing impatient now, struggling more to get loose and to be able to run over and help Flames. “Why!? We have to help him!â€
The female fox closed her eyes, letting out a sigh. “Because... That dragon, is his brother.â€
“What!? Brother!? How is that even possible? They're two completely different species!â€
Levi was loosing her calm by now, her rational thinking going down the drain at that moment as she tried to understand all that was going on, but not getting any of it. She had been brought there from another place in time and space itself, so she had no possible way of understanding things, and all this was giving her one major headache.
“We have to help him...!†She cried out pleadingly. “We have to...â€
Blaze then turned to look seriously at the human. “Do you honestly think you can stand a chance against Vince? You'd be torn to pieces in an instant!†The fox knew that she was talking about, because she could sense the power that was emanating from the black dragon.
“But...†Levi tried.
“No but's... This is Flames' fight, and we have no part in it. We can only pray that he's the one left standing after this...â€
Meanwhile, the entity had sent a powerful shock-wave of energy at Flames, making the fox yelp out in pain as he was shot towards the wall a second time.
“Fight, you despicable excuse for a life!†The entity shouted at Flames with his dark voice, sending another wave of energy towards the fox.
But Flames simply took the hit, whimpering as he stood up again and again even though all the pain. “...No...â€
“What's that I hear? No?†The entity cackled, making sure to speak loud enough for everyone to hear him as he walked around the middle of the room before making a sudden turn and seeming to vanish as he moved with such speed that normal eyes wouldn't be able to catch the movement. And within a second the dragon then appeared in front of Flames, having slammed his fist into the chest of the fox, whispering into his ear. “Then you're as good as dead.â€
Flames coughed, clenching his chest as he tried to regain his breath and fell down on his knees in front of Vince. “I... ugh... Can't fight you...â€
“You're pathetic! Pathetic!†The entity shouted, making fun of the fox's weakness and grabbing him by his throat. “You're too kind. You lack that killer instinct when it comes to fighting.â€
Flames coughed, wheezing as he tried to breathe and put his paw on the dragon's arm, trying to get him to loosen his grip. “I... Can't... It's... Still him...â€
“Okay then...†The entity said and snapped his fingers, making Fay's limp body come back into existence from wherever Malakar had sent it. “Maybe this will inspire you.†The dragon was now smiling malevolently, and when Flames saw Fay's body, he went into shock again. He had never experienced death in this way, never a person that had been close to him and he had know, so the magnitude of the shock was enough to petrify the fox again.
For a brief moment, everything stood still in Flames' eyes, and the only thing he could focus on was Fay, the once so lively husky was now laying lifeless on the floor.
But suddenly something came in the way of that image, a bright blue light that shone from somewhere just outside his field of vision. Flames turned his head, and to his utter surprise, he saw Vince crying, even though the entity was still in control of him. And it was the tears that emanated that strange shine that had gotten Flames' out of his petrification. And what was even stranger, was that the tears were floating into Flames' pocket, forming something inside of it.
The fox slowly reached his paw into his pocket, pulling out something that looked like a hilt made of crystal, though every teardrop added to it, building it up.
Flames looked at it, and as he did, he felt the paw around his throat loosen it's grip until he feel down on his own legs again, free to breath again. “What... Is this?â€
The entity first touched his cheeks, feeling that they were soaked. But what made him lose his grip of Flames' throat was the hilt that had formed out of the tears. “...The hell?â€
Flames continued looking as more and more of what now seemed to be a dagger formed into his paw, wondering what the meaning of it was and looked up. “What are you trying to tell me, nii-san?†the fox was gaining more confidence from holding the crystal dagger and putting it away, and then drew his X-Sabre after, pointing it towards his brother. “This ends now.â€
The entity nodded, drawing Vince's double katana and holding it at the ready before lunged forwards towards the fox, weapon at the ready for action.
Flames did the same, and as their swords clashed, dust started flying up into the air, starting to generate a massive dust cloud that you couldn't see through around the two.
The watchers were holding their breaths as they heard the swords clash for a moment, subsiding and then starting again from another part of the cloud.
Flames was putting all he had into the fight, not ready to give up now that he had gotten his confidence back.
Another short pause came, more dust whirled into the air and then silence. Time seemed to stop in its tracks as the silence continued, everyone held their breaths as the dust started to settle. The same thing was running through everyones minds: Who had won?

This long and you end in a cliffhanger?
It's just as good as ever, and I know we're all glad you finally posted this. :D
-
This long and you end in a cliffhanger?
Heh. I just had to keep the tension at the end, because I'm so close to the ending now. But I'm glad you liked it hon, and I'll try o be quicker this time with writing the next chapter, this one took far too long.
-
YOU!! *points at Vince* T.T WHY?! So long and it ends LIKE THIS?!
CRIME, I TELLZ YAH! :th_PyongLlora:

YOU!! *points at Vince* T.T WHY?! So long and it ends LIKE THIS?!
CRIME, I TELLZ YAH! :th_PyongLlora:
Well... At least it seems that I'm good with writing cliffhangers it seems. Will have the next chapter up shortly, so don't worry.
-
Yeah, I'd have to say you're the master of writing cliff-hangers bro. Well, it definately met my high expectations and you certainly didn't fail to deliver! Truly exceptional, worth the wait in my opinion for sure, your skill as a writer has come forward in leaps and bounds.
I feel that your portrayal of Blaze and Levi here was incredible. Levi may be a logical, calm person, but in situations of high stress like this she loses it and would indeed act just like that. Blaze's understanding of everything and holding Levi back is also very much in-character.
As for the writing of Flames...well, as always you've done this incarnation of Flames near-perfectly, quite likely better than I could do in this scenario. The refusal to fight and loss of confidence before suddenly building up and doing what must be done fits his character perfectly.
You truly have outdone yourself yet again brother :)
