Hey. I'm an electrician...I'm a 1st Year apprentice i'm registered too...great trade to be in. I got my 1st year apprenticeship after I came out of High School.
I'm in a program called O.Y.A.P. it's the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program. it helps students in high school get into trades. also there's no need to go to college for a whole semester...it' like a 1 month course or something and the government pays for most of your intuition
and during when you're in the OYAP in Highschool you do co-op placements at places of your trade..I was with an electrical company called Evergreen: Powersolutions..they did Windmill solar conventional and pretty much anything electrical related...they did

Oh Oh oh I go to collage...Kinda, I'm studying Animal Care ^^
-
I to do animal care in college
-
we didnt have an electrical program in highschool, unfortuanitly the demand for electricians in the residentail field is low.
sorry for such a late response I have been sick at my stomach and havent been able to eat making me weak.

Two years of Computer Specialist (with advanced Routing and Networking) before I joined the military. Now, if I can put that knowledge to use more than once in a blue-moon, that'll help me out.

College scares me :'(
-
Dont worry college isnt that scary if your a social person, my only problem is staying on task, my gpa has suffered for this and now its only a 3.11
Dont even want to mention mine in highschool it wus terrible I wus always goofin with my friends who were as brite as a 3 watt.
But Im not just going to work on residential im also gonna work on commercial, learnin to bend conduit tommorow.
Well bending conduit is fun learned how to make 90 degree bends and a 3" offset!Woopie!
-
conduit is fun to work with...makes wiring so much easier o.o
and Praise The Lord for dropped ceilings!! gotta love them being an electrician!!
I've worked in residential..i've done a whole re-wiring of a house...I did wiring at a campsite in cabins...the camp was on an island so we took a boat with all our supplies...we stayed in other cabins during the 3 day expediion we worked there..plus free camp meals...heh..the cabins we stayed in...had been there since the 40's there were phone numbers and everything written on the ceilings...all of girls too o.O
working there was fun...saw lots of animals...squirrels, chipmunks, foxes.. various birds. and several other critters
then...we worked at a different campsite...we were doing some underground wiring...we used wire that was wrapped around 5 ft diameter spools....that was a chore getting into place...bloody hot too...
I"ve also worked at a dairy where they made goats cheese...we had to wear hair ents and stuff when we were working in the areas where they actually made the cheese...we got free samples out of it :P that project went on for about a year maybe? with a few different electrical opntractors there...
I've done residential, commercial, industrial and....there was one other type...
i'cve ran almost any wire you can think of in almost any possible way...PVC conduit... EMT tubing....wire track...i've done quite a bit o.o
I worked with a bunch of great guys though...fun to be with. Oen was even a Star Wars geek like me o.o he did the best Yoda impression XD

I haven't been into the field work yet but gearing up for it real soon, I have to find an electrician who will take me as their apprentice
-
yea..that's the hard part...i'm a 1st year apprentice...and everyone around me is looking for a 2nd or 3rd year apprentice... :/
i'm not currently working as an electrician though...I'm currently working at a CNC machine router shop....there we build well CNC machines...they're basically programmed robots that will cut out holes....carve...engrave...cut out...etc...
our standard 5x10 machine is about $50,000...and we sent out about 4 of them the past 3 weeks

Really? I am interning for 3D computer animation, I am also taking my advanced 3d computer animation class in High School. What program do you use? I use 3DS Max 2009
-
I haven't really gotten into the animation classes yet, but I'm pretty sure my school uses both Maya and 3DS Max.
-
Well I got my certificate now Im movin on to diploma, as for bending conduit my arm hurts from bending 3/4 and 1inch EMT oww

I'm taking a physical education class at a local college, even though I'm still in high school. Does that count?

It can be a pain to bend sometimes XD wait till you bend PVC pipe...all you do is heat it up with a blow torch and bend it

A friend of mine at school she did that but with a different class...I forget which class she took though...she went to college for the afternoon and did her normal high school classes in the morning
