Title: IMVU copycats

I dont know if this has happened to anyone else...
But Does anyone else have someone stealing their Exactly.
I mean like, Same hair, eyes, skin, accessories, shoes and what ever
else you can wear.
Or does anyone else have someone who steals an avatar picture that they
made for themselves?


Just random and I just felt like seeing if it has happened to anyone else apart from me
and my Brother.

Sure. Happens all the time. Not a whole lot you can do about it since IMVU makes it hard as heck to protect stuff that's yours.

But clothes and hair and skin and eyes?
Does it REALLY matter?
I mean devs makes them for a reason
for EVERYONE
so i mean...
unless it was specifically made for you
it shouldnt matter...

Personally I don't care if someone steals my look, its flattering that they wanna look like me and since I made 80% of the stuff I have on I make a profit when they do buy the stuff to copy me.
The only way it would bother me is if they had a name like DragnMastrAlex1 or something trying to BE me and they do a bunch of bad stuff to try to get me banned.

though i dont play imvu, i gotta agree here, isnt is just a good thing if they like your looks so much that they decide to mimic it?

I had someone Like that. But then I changed my Name to Nareiko
and they then lost me and didn't end up finding me again.

you can make your profile private to everyone but your friends so they can't wander onto your page and steal your look. the avatar pic is way too small everywhere else to try and copy everything and only shows your head.

well that's sort of the reason for the "My Outfits" panel isn't it? but you can keep your outfits hidden so no one else can use them...like Dessum said to me...I looked REALLY close to one of his ex mates' which just happened to be coincidental...

But I have seen someone that had the same fur hair and top as me...it was kinda freaky o.o

I don't think Luna means just when they copy some of the things in your outfit, that's not really problem as you said. I think she's referring more to them buying every single item in one of your outfits, saving it as the exact same outfit and passing it off as a look that they claim to of came up with all on their own.

It gets irritating to come across said persons friends who then get all "why did you steal my friends look?" when you were in fact the one who combined those items in the first place.

EDIT: by the way sis, it's alot harder for people to steal your pic for themselves on IMVU if you put your name on the pic like you did with your other ones. The only reason that girl got away with it that time is cause she took your picture that didn't have a name pasted on it.

Easy answer to that outfit thing
If you dont want someone copying your outfits HIDE THEM. Keep to the logical answer instead of being ***** and saying "SHE STOLEDED MY OUTFIT!!??!!11111
If people werent suppose to own atleast one identical item there wouldnt be Devs and everyhting would be hidden from the public eye

they are saying that people are copying the look from the avatar picture or the pictures in the persons IMVU album. Not off the outfits area.

I put a sticker over both my Album and my "view my album" link on my avatar area and my Avatar pic only shows my head and shoulders so unless they actually chat with me and take screenshots of my guy there is no way they know how I look in the first place.

true...but during the  chat they can also see what items you're wearing unless your outfit is hidden.

If you really don't want people to look at your album it can be taken off your page or hidden from view.
Making it visible to your friends only is nice. If you're worried about the link in your about me panel then copy the about me panel code into another panel
like maybe your video panel, hide or turn off your about me panel, and replace the album link in the code.

People have been known to steal avi pics even when someone else's name is on them.  :squish:
