As im at work today, my boss find out im a furry and fires me because of it. About 3 hours later my friend got fired to because he was a furry. I was one of the best worker there. I worked the longest, almost the cheapest, and almost never was wrong. (worked in computer tech stuff) Just because im a furry isnt a reason to fire me. Least i got another job already....
Just though i'd share this with you.
(BTW  :fu: <-- to you, my old boss, and all you other furry haters out there.)
Please leave a comment too.
-
As far as I know, it is illegal to fire anybody for belonging to any kinda social group. If I'm right your friend could press charges.
-
i could but that wouldnt change anything. I would still be a furry and my boss would still hate me. people would look down on me and would be the ONE TO ASK anymore..... besides, i got another job already.
-
He cannot fire you because of it. Did he fire you right away? Do you have an ''union'' at your work? If so well here you can request 2 weeks of salary, looks at yours.
-
Ya I think he got away with it by "laying me off" IDK i dont want a furry hater as a boss anyways. My new job has more pay anyways! lol :)
-
Sew him, cause 1. it was wrong 2. it'll #^*%(*#* his reputation up.
Seriously, people find out he's a retard bigot of all things and....maybe not.
I guess it depends on your principle.
-
There are too many haters in the world. At least your new job seems okay and it'll only be a matter of time until more people realise what your old boss is really like.
-
Did being a furry in any way interfere or cause a commotion at work?
Did you volunteer you where a furry or did he find out some other way?
Does he fully understand what a furry is?
If so does he think that its some sort of sexual thing?
Did he fire you in person at work, on the phone, or in the office in front of everyone?
and lastly, was he calm when he fired you or was he mad and abusive?
all these will tell if you can take action, if the firing was just, and if your boss is a moron that doesn't know jack just assumes.
-
I knew there where furry haters at work so i tryed to keep it un known.
Im not really sure how he found out but he did. No he called me a sick animal (i dont know if i could post the last word on these forums but i think you know what it is.)
He fired (well i should really say fired. i should say laid me off) me in private but i think he told some people cause some of my friends at work wont talk to me anymore.
He was calm but i could feel his happiness in getting rid of a furry.
since he laid me off (just said fired cause i know that ill never work there again. happened to one of my cousins. (not a furry though)), i dont think i could really sue him but i dont really care. My new jobs better anyways. Even if i did *$##*% his reputation, he is still gana hate me. Also i cant really get the money for a lawyer right now but that ok cause i want gana sue anyways. My new job i get 50% more pay anyways. In a way, im kinda glad he layed me off.
He made me more money.... =3

If you live in America, I'd at least contact the ACLU and see what they say.
-
Your probably better off. Work is work why throw personal things into the mix. Now that you know how he feels work would never be the same. But at least you didnt deny your being a furry. Thats respectable. Some people would crumble in that kind of situation.
-
Get a lawyer and sue for discrimination. if you can't have that job, and already have another on, why not make out as much as you could from a civil suit?
-
I would just put it all behind me, unless he continues to harass you such as calling you and such like that, then you sue for discrimination and or get a restraining order. Speaking of which don't use work computers for personal usage because others have ways of finding things out. Just recently there was a huge drug bust near me because someone used a work computer to contact the people to sell them the drugs. Keep personal things personal. :)
-
I'd say if your new job pays more and you're happy with your new job I don't see any reason to sew him. As far as I know my boss is no where near like that. He maybe ex-marine but he's one of the coolest people you will meet. I'm guessing someone found out by, if one of your friends from work had found out by being on your computer at home and telling your boss...or you were on a work computer and had furry related stuff on it and someone was in your account or elsewhere...and saw that...and told your boss...
There's one guy at my work who knows I'm a furry, I'm not sure if anyone else at work knows it though...as him and I are both on lX-Box ive...and my signature thing on it says "Furries United Recon" it's my Clan Tag for COD4 [FUR] and he hasn't treated me any different since he found out...
But yea...in general Keep work and personal stuff separate...

Who said yes!?! WHO SAID YES?!!?!?!
-
Bumbers...you're crazier than I thought you were o.o....virus?
-
just thought i'd randomly participate, you could try to sue him (although really you found a new job anyway) but for some reason I doubt it would work. If it was because you were a different ethnicity or something, but society is odd that way >.>. Wonder if any of my friends know <.<, >.>, /gets suspicious
-
Lawyers are expensive, it's hard to say whether or not suing him would be worth it. It would just be more time and hassle, and you're happy with the job you ended up with. *shrugs* It's up to you.
-
yes but you'd get alot of money at the same time, or lose it depending on the outcome <.<
-
I agree, sue him.
Its the same discrimination as "laying off" someone who is Gay/Lesbian/Bi, Black/Hispanic/Other, or based on their religion.
I'd highly recommend sueing him also so their wont be another case like that agianst anyone else.
Atleast you have a better job now :P
-
i'm not sure how the society would feel about cruelty to furries though >.> so that could change the ruling.
-

Hehe, I couldn't help but laugh..

i may come across if a (censored), but why the heck would someone fire a furry because he's addapted to a lifestyle he likes.... i dont believe its just that, there's no such thing as "furry hate" its all exagerated truth of people being annoyed with some parts of the fandom because they dont understand what this lifestyle is about, and IF your boss fired you because he found out, it be because he doesn't quite understand the fandom
or have you been doing (by society) unaccepted stuff at your workplace?, in that case its not a big shocker.

ok, here's when i start wondering
first of all, everyone on this board is human, furry is mostly a online identity/social group, and i fail to see how he could call you a sick animal since he's probably been knowing you, and knowing how you are probably just as much human as anyone in that workplace.
and seriously, lay of the hater talk, its just gonna get you people depressed, i said so before, and i'll do it again, there's no such thing as a worldwide hate against the furry fandom, there's no group against it, there's no serious crime going on because of it, i think you should find out how big the meaning of the word hate really is before you start accusing people of hating you
and the thing of him being happy to get rid of a furry, IF it was true, he probably saw the wrong side of the fandom, and saw it as something perverted, because thats easily the most reknown part of the fandom.. ah well, congrats on your new job anyways

Get a lawyer and sue for discrimination. if you can't have that job, and already have another on, why not make out as much as you could from a civil suit?
its not discrimination, thats the whole problem, furries arent in any way different from regular people, so its just as impossible to sue discrimination on furries as it would be on (for example) goths or punks
again, i seriously dont want to come across as a idiot, but im looking at it from a logical perspective
-

That we are on the good side or the ''not so good side'' part of the fandom, it a whole and we are part of it. It is up to the person to choose what they want to see-do or not. We will never change people perception. And if he don't understand both side of the fantom then it was up to him to explain it to his boss.
Everyone have their perspective on thing-people and we need to be more open than by the first thing you read and see or get talk about. Me as a professional I can deal with that but it is hard for other to do it and won't be able to change someone if we don't make the circonstance clear.
Sueing is not the option in this case but yea guess we cannot change people from usa.

We have a furry hater on the forums......
Thanks for all your support guys (and girls). I may not be on for a wile cause of work so ill see yall around.

O and Deus Ex, I think he got his furry info from godhatesfurries but idk. wish people would really learn about us more before jumping on conclusions like that but o well.
Thanks again everyone for the support and see yall around.
-

We have a furry hater on the forums......
wait, what?? who?
-
Someone voted YES.
-
You guys are so quick to assume. DragnMastrAlex may have voted yes. I can agree with someone firing a furry if them being furry interferes with their job or performance... Not their social lives like in this case. That doesn't make me a furry hater, though, does it? That's the same as if someone was a D&D nerd. If I fired a D&D nerd because them being a D&D nerd affected their performance for the worst, would that make me prejudiced? I think not. That's just me cutting off dead weight so that my business doesn't lose money.

i agree with this, un-interfering business is ok, but dont let your social grouping interfere with your work under any circumstance, that goes for everyone part in any kind of social group
-
To me it does not matter who you are you should still get the same as everybody else, that is just not fair and also stupid
-
From what I understand, being a furry wasn't interfering with Dokota's job, so no, I don't it was right for Dokota to get fired. But I agree about the fur-hater part. :twitch: :umm:
I didn't say it did; I agreed that in this case that it wasn't right. DragnMastrAlex may have voted before getting all the facts. I don't think we have a fur hater here.
-
I haven't voted yet, but it's kinda hard to mention to say anything besides "only if it interferes with the job would it be feasible to fire upon social life judgement"...
-
I didn't vote yes.
I ask questions about the firing but thats all.
I mean its very likely that he isn't a furry hater but misunderstood moron.
See most people see furrys as beastiality and think its people having sex with animals.
They are ignorant and think that it has something to do with the occult and satanism.
Thus your boss may have thought this and was trying to get rid of you because he thought you where a threat to the workplace.
Its our responsibility as furry's to educate people as to what a furry is and that it is in no way satanism or is it having sex with the family dog.

My bad for assuming, but I didn't want people to bash anyone.

"People" are ignorant beings... a "person" has the capability to be an intelligent, understanding individual.
-
Erm I can relate to that already happened to me when I was working at superstore I figured out from one of the higher ups the manager was going to fire me because he did not wish me to have such interests so simply I quit before the jerk could fire me simply put so no it is not right unless it directly interferes with your work performance.
-
well at least im not the only one....
its still stupid.
-
"People" are ignorant beings... a "person" has the capability to be an intelligent, understanding individual.
True wisdom is knowing that you know nothing
We are all morons trying not to look stupid in public.
When a person of normal inelegance comes along we all call him genius.
After all in the land of the blind the one eye'd man is king.
