Title: starting to write poems
Post by: Dakota on April 30, 2008, 02:04:23 AM
sam also inspired me to start writing poems, so here it goes

Connection
he tries and tries,
but he can't.
he is outside,
locked out.
yet he still tries,
he watches as life passes him by.
like a stranger he walks,
just goes with the flow.
watching people living their lives,
trying to make a connection.

The Feeling
He knows that he feels it,
but he doesn't know what it is.
 Should he embrace it,
or should he hate it away?
This love, this hate, this jealousy, this pain,
or is it more than that?
is this the feeling of life,
or is it death?
Is it something everyone feels,
or is he alone?

Anger
He lost control,
he didnt know what he was doing.
It was his fault,
no one made him do it.
Just his stupid temper,
hurting everyone around him.
All it does is destroy,
but all he wants is to be friendly.

heres another, unfortunatly i cant just belt them out like sam does, they come to me slow =3

Someday
One of these days,
the distance between them will not be so far.
Although she is miles away,
when he hears her voice he is there with her.
He wants more than that though,
he wants to hold her in his arms.
He wants to comfort her when she is sad,
to be with her when she's happy.
One of these days,
he will go to her.

Nice one. You seem pretty talented at them. Putting words into art is a great thing. I need to learn to do it.

:P It's not as hard as you think. Its just that I practiced from crappy writings till I was sore handed and I could belt them out like a machine. I used to get so mad when I couldn't finish one and I had to start a new one....Besides, I tend to think  A LOT. My brain is ALWAYS on overdrive. xD

i tend to think more about things other than poetry

I didn't mean I just think about poetry, I think about everything and lines just start coming together. That, and I try to do my best no matter how hard it is. :P

A look inside my head:

Thoughts of random words + natural skill at writing = poetry I'd rather trash
Hearing people say things + irritating poem sense tingling = better poetry
Stupidly random thoughts/phrases picked up from others + having thousands of other ideas crammed in my head = way better poetry

See, it's not as hard as you think. You just need to practice and drive yourself nuts until you CAN belt them out. :P

A trick I've found that allows you to continue writing even if you aren't feeling the right emotions may help you out. If you focus on an event or time in the past where you could strongly feel the emition you need. Visualise the sensation, how it felt, how the thoughts forming in your mind changed because of it; and mentally capture that scene before 'painting it into reality' in poem form. It can be tricky, but it might just help...

That works too, but I just write when I can and struggle through the lines. If something doesn't feel right, I go back later and change it. Or rewrite it as a new poem.

heres another

Lonely
There is an empty place inside him,
there is one inside everyone.
Some people find some one and it is filled,
but for the others it can seem that there is no one.
Every rejection and broken relationship makes it bigger,
farther and farther it drags him down.

It seems that there is no way to soothe this sirring pain,
but he is told that there is some one waiting for him.
He cant even bring himself to try again,
he can not have his heart broken again.
All he can do is sit and watch as everyone loves,
wondering if he is the problem.

All he wants is to be loved,
but all he gets is pain.
Mabey that is the problem,
mabey he loves too much.

Did you by any chance 'borrow' my poem idea and change it up a bit? xD No worries if you did, just curious because I could'a sworn I wrote one like this one...

I tend to churn out a lot, don't I? That and the fact that I don't write them all at once like you guys think. I actually write them over week long spans. Then post them all at once. :P
