-
PORTAL! but also fallout new vegan, the sims, stardew valley and slime rancher ^_^!
Love games that don’t require toooo much skill, cuz I am awful at video games
-

My favourite games... I'm very much a 2d Platformer guy; it will surprise none to hear that I am a sucker for Sonic 3 & Knuckles .. Or really any of that lot; Sonic 1, 2, & 3 are absolutely solid games. Sonic CD also has a special spot.
MegaMan... Ooh, well, if I'm honest - the full sweep of 1-11. If I had to pick a favourite, I'd be torn between 3, and 5 - just entertaining to play all round. Though I'd assume, like most, I play 2 most often.. It's just satisfying to get a clean sweep of that game, and you can do it in about 40 minutes, if you're good.
MegaMan sort of taught me how to play videogames as a whole - I thought I sucked, but I'd never sat and tried to 'git gud' at a game before. With MegaMan, I picked up MegaMan 2 on the NES, and as I started to play it - dying a lot - I felt ... Well, I'm learning little by little each time I play this level - boy, I'm starting to progress through it! Some of the deaths were unavoidable, until you knew to duck here, slide there, jump over... And then I didn't feel so bad about losing lives; it's how the game is supposed to be played! I'm supposed to lose lives! And it didn't feel so scary.. I didn't feel like I was bad at it at all (though I definitely was!) -- If you weren't supposed to lose lives, they wouldn't give you lives to lose! And quickly, I got better at videogames... Very quickly! I reckoned; if the game was easy enough to beat in one go, it'd only be a 30-40 minute game - how boring would that be?! No, no, it's a skill that I've had to hone to beat it this fast. And oh, how exhillirating it is!
Other than that... Ape Escape is phenominal... 1, 2, & 3 - I think my favourite is probably 2, which I'd consider to be the hardest one.. It's challenging! Plus, you can play as Kakeru in that one, if you beat it - which is such a fun easter egg. My favourite character, though, is Hiroki, who only appears in Ape Escape 1, then again in Pumped & Primed.. And in the back of a comic in Ape Escape 2, joking about how everybody forgot he existed! I didn't, Hiroki! I have a badge of him on my jacket (by some divine miriacle, Sony put out a line of merchandise which included Hiroki in the little designs.. Only Acrylic Stands and Badges, but that's incredible!) -- On that note, Pumped & Primed was great fun. I enjoyed what I played of Million Monkeys. I couldn't get on board with Ape Academy, and the Move controller for On The Move doesn't work with my disability, which was a shame (though I'd picked it up as a rare store demo disk for my partner as a birthday gift - it contains the whole game, somehow! It's no big loss for me) -- I've yet to play PipoRacer or SaruSaru Big Mission.. But I am excited.
Katamari Damacy is another series which has captured my heart; We <3 Katamari is my favourite one - boy was I excited to see it get a re-master! I would always be willing to put in the effort of puling out the PS2 to play the original... But there's also somethign wonderful about being able to pull it out on the go! It's one of the best 2-player couch co-op experiences I've ever had. I'm also a huge fan of Katamari Forever (I guess I'm still doomed to whip out the PS3!)
And oh, oh, the Mother series... My favourite being Mother 1, and not without it having to struggle its' way there! The first time I'd played it, I was having a good time, but I wanted to get through it - I didn't let it take its' time to express itself. I was impatient. The second time I'd played it, it was beautiful and poignant - that I wasn't rushing it, I was letting myself sit and play for as long as I'd need to. I really find peace, now, in the quieter moments of that game. Mother 2 & 3 are incredible games; but Mother 1 has clawed its' way up into my heart. (Now, if only I could forgive it for Mt. Itoi.......)
And.. Oh, I've written so, so much 0:)

I personally enjoy a lot of different types of games, so it's hard for me to pick just a few games or even genres. :/
However, the Half-Life/Portal games are some of my absolute favorites I've ever played, especially Portal 2. They can be challenging but also not annoyingly difficult (looking at you, Geometry Dash). Plus they have S tier lore and amazing characters/dialog.
I also enjoy a lot of sandbox games like Spore, Garry's mod, Terraria, and especially the old beta versions of MInecraft. I like it when they're simple but also provide a ton of creative freedom (which is why I like the beta versions of Minecraft more than the newer versions. My ADHD brain gets confused by all the newer versions features @.@)
Horror games also interest me, but I've only played a select few of them (mainly some of the FNAF games and Amnesia: The Dark Descent). Amnesia's definitely my favorite though with its interesting plot scary environment, especially ambiance wise.
2d Platformers have always interested me, but I've never really played any for some reason. I did play the original sonic game on the Wii over 9 years ago, and really enjoyed it, especially its art style, but I never played any other 2d Platforms afterwards (unless you argue that Terraria counts, which is really pushing it). I really gotta play some soon lol.
Fallout's another game series that seems interesting but that I've never played. I'm considering saving up some money and getting some of the games though ^_^

I'd somehow never gotten into these games... I really had ought to! It seems my favourite games lean more towards platformers as a whole, but I feel like it's part of the 'Gamer's Creed' for me to get into these ones XD
-
I'd highly recommend trying them! They're action packed but also not overwhelmingly intense, each with their own unique styles (the Portal series are puzzle games while the Half-Life games are FPSs) The lore of each series is interconnected as well, if you're interested in that :)
-
Oho, I very much am interested in that!
I'd watched my older brother play the first Portal game when it was new; I found it fascinating! Well, I'll very much have to get on board finally! 0:)
Another series i've been looking to try out is Metal Gear . . . So many things still to experience! That one, we've already got the games, just looking for the time - but the partner and I, we've been playing through the Mega Man games again recently - currently, working through Mega Man 5. . . And getting some 'Mega Man Battle & Chase' done - that one's a cart racer based on the main series.
And on the side, a game which two of our friends had independantly recommended to us - Signalis! Oh, it looks like it'll be a good one. So many games to play and re-play... Oh, what fun!
-
Hope you enjoy it, I know I did! :)
Both Metal gear and Maga Man are other game series that sound interesting and that I've heard lots about but just haven't tried yet for some reason.
Also, 'Mega Man Battle & Chase' looks pretty fun from what I'm seeing of it online! Signalis also looks pretty cool. Has a pretty unique art style from what I'm seeing!
I guess I also have a lot of games to play lol. Looks like I'll have to make some time on the weekends to game ^_^
-
You and me both!! XD
Oh, I would -so- recommend Mega Man, it's such a solid platformer series... I think a good place to start is Mega Man 2; the Legacy Collection has some quality-of-life features, such as a dedicated save, and rewind; but I like to play them raw ^_^ and... I would definitely recommend reading the manuals for 1 & 2 before you start.. It's one of those ;)
Metal Gear, I have no idea where we'll start - but we'll get round to it, I'm sure - can't hurt to start on 1, right? 0:)
-
I think I'll try Mega Man first this weekend since I got nothing better to do. It's good to know that there's a manual for it, I'm guessing I'll probably need it! XD
-
Woot! You're gunna have a great time with it! If you need any help with anything, feel free to ask about it~ there used to be a tip-line for these things, but these days, you're better off asking somebody who knows! Googling it tends to give you alllll of the answers, and that's no fun at all for a game like this ;) I happen to maybe know one-or-two things... Maybe. X3

Thanks for offering! I just started playing the NES version of Mega Man 2 on an emulator (I don't own an actual NES yet and I need to setup my Nintendo Switch before I buy the legacy collection) like an hour ago and I just beat Air Man. ^_^
You were right though, that manual helped a lot and It's a fun game! I was wondering what these things were though. I don't think they're mentioned in the manual and I kinda just have to run around them since I haven't been able to destroy one yet . Is it possible to destroy them? :?
-
Yay, I'm so glad you're having fun with it - I'd hoped as much! :3 It's one of my favourites, ever! That's so funny that you beat Air Man first - there's a running joke in the community about how you 'can't beat Airman' - it's even the name of a popular song!

So, that enemy is called the Scworm - Metal Man's weapon can take them out in one hit! Or else, if you time three shots with your regular buster (or 5, on difficult mode) to the body of it (it's a little hard to aim, but you can do it, I believe in you!) then you can defeat them in this way, as well!
Good luck with your game! ^_^
-
Fire song in all honesty! X3
Thanks for the advice! I'm going to try to beat Flash Man tonight since they're one of the first enemy robots that the manual suggests beating as a beginning player. Wish me luck! XP
-
Good luck with Flash Man~ I love his stage! ^_^ and you are very welcome! I actually booted up the game to double-check, then I ended up going for a run of Megaman 3 whilst I had Legacy Collection booted :nerd: :nerd: :nerd:
Oh! And on our end; the partner and I are going to start Portal when they get back from their travels afar, so I'm excited! XD
-
Thanks! I beat Flash Man 20 minutes after that post. :D
I am curious though, what are these (doors?) and how I can get through them? Is there secrets that I'm missing out on? :o
You guys will love Portal! I'm happy to provide some tips and stuff if you guys need it! :) Or you can just search up a walkthrough online
-
NICE! Great job in dishing it to the big man~ :P
Those walls are destroyable using Crash Man's weapon! It'll help you to avoid enemies, pass through the stage quicker, and most importantly - paired with your Items, it will help to grant you access to parts of the map which have the 1-UP, and the E-Tank -- which refills your health! You'll also be in the path of Weapon Energy and Life Energy, to help you to complete the stage ^_^
And, cheers~ I suppose there's not much to spoil gameplay-wise for Portal XD XD but if I have questions, we'll come running!
-
Thanks! ^_^
That's good to know! I guess I know which robot to beat next... >:3
True, but I'm sure you'll still have fun with it. :)
-
Don't worry -- The walls only come into play in Flash Man's stage! 0:) See, there's a bit of an order - but half of the fun of the game is figuring out that order! It's like the most convoluted game of Rock, Paper, Scissors... And it is so gosh darned fun! I was so glad when they released MegaMan 11 in 2018, because I got to go through it all again!
