I found this to be pretty scary: http://video.google.ca/videoplay?docid=-8248033921995619429&q=Real+Terminators&total=15&start=0&num=10&so=0&type=search&plindex=1

I don't see what the problem is. Every robot currently being developed to oppose humans militarily is designed with human supervision in mind. The vast majority of these robots are simply remote controlled devices with absolutely no autonomous function. The few that do have autonomous control are usually in place to perform security duties: observe and report. I have never seen a military or government funded robot designed to identify and shoot humans without further authorization. Such sophisticated AI is currently well beyond our capabilities.
All robots that are deployed for the military are there to SAVE human lives. By deploying remote controlled robots into hostile territory we are able to keep our own troops at a safe distance.

Yep, automatic drones patrol ground, eventually shoot or disarm bombs. But I highly doubt that I'll live enough to see real Arnoldish Schwarzeneggerish terminators ;P That's science fiction, japanese humanoid robots cost a lot of money (and still looks so lame) so it's not profitable to start mass production, if you can simple throw nuclear weapon and forget about enemy (the only reason USA and Russia not bombed each other or other countries is the fear about counterattack) ;)

Yes...they're had robots for about...10 years now...they used them to help find survivors after the World trade Centre collapsed...although not fully autonomous they do have cameras and such mounted to them and are controlled by a human operator at a safe distance.
These robots have been used in many applications...defusing bombs land mines...clearing of highly hostile rooms
There's even ones small enough that are just used for recon purposes to gather intelligence about the enemy like where they're hiding, how many, what kind of weapon they have,
there's also UAVs which will survey the ground and take thousands of pictures and relay them back to a computer at HQ or they can have an explosive attached to them and be used to take out a target remotely
There IS fully autonomous robots though...they're just in the VERY early stages...it's being developed in Japan at the moment it talks and somewhat walks like a human. but these are the most HUMAN looking ones
There's been a autonomous robot out for awhile...it was developed by Sony...his name was ASIMO he can walk up stairs run and do pretty much anything...
As well they're working on creating a robot to be used on the space station for outside damages that need to be repaired that are too dangerous for a human to do...

As soon Skynet (or something like that) is not created, the robot will not be a threat for us.
