Title: Rules clarification
Post by: Bricket on September 18, 2017, 08:54:12 AM
Let's start with a positive note  :)
When looking at this forum, and the members, we can only conclude one thing: we're a very vibrant and international community  :D
This gives us the oppertunity to learn about each others' country, habits, even personal situation if we knew them well; this is an absolute great concept.

However, there is one minor issue here: with all these international members and stuff: what law do we follow?
For instance: some countries have a different age limit regarding what you can do and can't do.
My suggestion: put in the rules that, too make it easy since we have a relative larger american crowd, the American law and thus the American age limits are used

When you sign up you agree to the rules, laws and regulations that this website follows you're registering to. That goes for any website you register to, they should mention clearly what laws of which country/area they follow if it is applicable.
It is mentioned clearly when you register to not do anything that is against

International or United States Federal law

It is also mentioned in the rules.

Anything that is considered illegal will be removed based on US federal law or majority state law. Even if something is not illegal in your country the content may still be removed if it is illegal in the US.

Give me a moment and I'll post the screencap here of what you see when you register.

That's the issue: you tend to forget that after many years.
Repeating that same rule wouldn't seem to be a bad idea since it would completely get rid of any potential source of discussion  ^_^

Please note that when we talk about "illegal activities" or "minors", we typically act on and refer to USA laws, as that is where the forum's owners and servers are based.

Added that to the top of the rule page, as it was easy enough.

Actually the server is UK based :P

US laws work for me though, they are similar enough and if something different comes up specifically then it can be dealt with on a singular basis.

The UK seems to be in an interesting time regarding online legislation and it woud be indeed wise to orientate us to the demographics.
Thanks for listening guys  :)

The server is indeed UK based, but the Rules page still mentions it's US based.

Sorry, didn't have much time to check on this earlier. It's been fixed.

Yep, if there are any changes we'll be sure to update though! :)
