For the benefit of others.          (That could be a great motto right there. lol)

Quote

mot·to (mŏt'ō) pronunciation
n., pl. -toes or -tos.

   1. A brief statement used to express a principle, goal, or ideal. See synonyms at saying.
   2. A sentence, phrase, or word of appropriate character inscribed on or attached to an object.
   3. A maxim adopted as a guide to one's conduct.

   1. A usually pithy and familiar statement expressing an observation or principle generally accepted as wise or true: adage, aphorism, byword, maxim, proverb, saw, saying.
   2. A rallying term used by proponents of a cause: battle cry, call to arms, call to battle, cry, rallying cry, war cry.

Examples:
Quote from: Hank Aaron
My motto was always to keep swinging. Whether I was in a slump or feeling badly or having trouble off the field, the only thing to do was keep swinging.

Quote from: Robert Baden-Powell
Be Prepared... the meaning of the motto is that a scout must prepare himself by previous thinking out and practicing how to act on any accident or emergency so that he is never taken by surprise.

Quote from: Voltaire

Weakness on both sides is, as we know, the motto of all quarrels.

Quote from: Thomas Jefferson
Commerce with all nations, alliance with none, should be our motto.

Quote from: E. M. Forster
Think before you speak is criticism's motto; speak before you think, creation's.

3. I could be worse off!

2. Better to die for something than live for nothing.....

1. Fight with mind, body, and spirit not just blind rage.

"I have traveled far from where my search began over seas of blue and shores of sand." XD tell me what thats from if you can

"Life's to short to waste working to have things you don't need go to your roots spend a month in the woods then you will taste what life is truly meant to be.  Only through the hardships of hunger and thirst will you appreciate life and when you return to civilization you will always stop and smell the roses"  thats one doozy of a motto considering I just made it up of the top of my head.

Mine? Well, it goes something like this: "Let them come, for I am sure of my place and I shall not give it up. My place is beside you and they will have to go through me to harm you, my love. And let them rip me apart, it is my love for you that makes me invinsible. I love you and I will never stop how my heart beats. You cannot kill what is already dead, and thus, I am here."

Also: "Let them come to tear me down, I will not stay caged for much longer. THey do not know the power that lies, unbidden, beneath my wounds. I will crush you soon enough, the fools. Enjoy your lives in those prisons, boys. I am to be gone tonite. My death will be in fire, my element. JOIN or DIE."

Not sure if they're mottos, but they're definitely my favorite quotes/ quotes I live by. xP

"Seeing death as the end of life, is like seeing the horizon as the end of the ocean."

Then there's this quote that kinda became popular in away messages.. D:
but it's always stuck with me and I find it a really good quote to live by.

"You have to take the good with the bad,
smile with the sad, love what you've got,
and remember what you've had.
Always forgive, but never forget.
Learn from mistakes, but never regret.
People change, things go wrong..
but just remember: life goes on."

Annd there's this poem that I'm in love with.. It holds a lot of meaning.

"I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings:

The free bird leaps
on the back of the wind
and floats downstream
till the current ends
and dips his wings
in the orange sun rays
and dares to claim the sky.

But a bird that stalks
down his narrow cage
can seldom see through
his bars of rage
his wings are clipped and
his feet are tied
so he opens his throat to sing.

The caged bird sings
with fearful trill
of the things unknown
but longed for still
and is tune is heard
on the distant hill
for the caged bird sings of freedom

The free bird thinks of another breeze
and the trade winds soft through the sighing trees
and the fat worms waiting on a dawn-bright lawn
and he names the sky his own.

But a caged bird stands on the grave of dreams
his shadow shouts on a nightmare scream
his wings are clipped and his feet are tied
so he opens his throat to sing

The caged bird sings
with a fearful trill
of things unknown
but longed for still
and his tune is heard
on the distant hill
for the caged bird sings of freedom. "

After I heard that poem for the first time, I couldn't stand to see birds in cages.. still cant. ;_;

I don't have a motto persay, but I do live by a quote from Robert Frost's poem "The Road Less Taken" this being

"Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference."

I have always tried to walk my own path and not go with flow of things. Especially while in school.  :D

Yeah.. :/ It's just not right.
I get that people love animals and just wanna be close to them..
but why go so far as clipping their wings and caging them? ><

It's like how people declaw their cats so that they don't ruin the furniture,
yet they still let them outside all night.. how ignorant and selfish can you get? D:
