Title: Nuclear fallout survival roleplay
Post by: Lord Isscarus on February 03, 2017, 08:02:10 PM
You live in a small city in Ohio
Bombs have been going off, you know it's the apocalypse, so you gather all of your supplies and loved ones and head for the nearest safe house

However the safe house you are in is full of other people also looking to survive, all of you most work together to survive the fallout at all costs
P.S. I will be participating in this roleplay

Darwin rose from his feet, slightly dozed off and confused, however he had a good sleep regardless, he looked outside the window, expecting a sunny, peaceful day with his furry friends

What he saw was horrifying, there was radiation everywhere, mutated people brutally killing and beating up others, and lots of explosions going off in the distance, Darwin knew he couldn't stay in his home

He went to grab a gas mask from his basement, then he proceeded to go into his weapons closet, he grabbed a backpack and loaded it with assault rifles, handguns, and grenades, he also armed himself with a combat knife and a shotgun, he was ready for war

However due to skinny frame, it was extremely difficult to carry all the food and weapons, so he took out a couple weapons, which made it a little easier to carry

He then proceeded to put on a heavy bulletproof vest, the weight almost made him collapse, but he knew he would need the protection, he got all of these supplies from his father in case he was in serious danger

He also put on a helmet for head protection, he then exited the basement and head to the front door, just before opening, he secured his belongings and made sure he had everything he wanted, he knew this could possibly be his last day alive.

He slowly opened the front door "keep your head up, maintain a steady aim, stay alert..." Darwin was remembering the tips his father gave him in case of dire situations like this

The sky was a thick, musky, yellowish green, with tons of dead bodies

Tons of property was vandalized or destroyed, Darwin took a quick look around at the broken down, irradiated place to scan for hostiles, nothing, he was safe for now

There were also flipped cars and ruins of buildings everywhere, Darwin wanted to know what the hell was going on, he was only 19 and scared
He slowly clunked forward each step, getting tired every time he took another one, he then saw a subway entrance that he used to go to a lot, he went down the cracked and worn down staircase...

He saw the outline of a door, he went to go touch it, as he knew this subway, and he knew this was the safe house entrance. He pushed the door open, rushed inside and quickly slammed the steel door shut, locking it. He knew others would come here, so he braced himself, but before that he took off his insanely heavy equipment and gasped for air, happy that he made it, but now he knew that the journey to survive had just begun

Sailor knew that this would be coming eventually.

Through the small windup radio she had secretly kept in her room, she had listened to warnings every night. Her mother had forbidden such things, saying that it was bad for her mental health to be listening to the government lies and what on earth did they know anyway? An apocalypse certainly wasn't going to happen in this day and age, and it was her duty as a parent to persuade her daughter that such things were never to happen. But Sailor had been smart. The number of planes that had been flying overhead had dramatically increased in the last few days, and people weren't acting like themselves.

Now, she had woken up to the sound of someone breaking down the door downstairs and animalistic screaming coming up the stairs. Leaping out of her bed, she stumbled over to the window, and her breath caught in her throat, and a sick feeling came up in her stomach. Everything was a mess. Dead people, wrecked buildings, gas filled skies... She needed to get out.

She hadn't been allowed to prepare anything. Her mum had convinced herself that this would never happen, and had banned all talk of it. So now she had nothing, apart from her simple radio, which she grabbed. Could come in useful. Then all she could do was run out to the safe house. She had heard of it from friends and the local newspapers, but it was quite far away. She would have to run, and dodge everything in her path if she wanted to stay alive. The hanging from below became louder, and she concluded that she would need to leave now.

But what of her family? Flinging open her bedroom door, the first thing she could see was her younger brother lying on the floor, obviously dead. A sob caught in her throat, but she had no time to think about how he died. That would need to come later. Skidding down the stairs, the young sheep came across her mum flung over the kitchen counter, slaughtered with her head bashed in. Screwing her eyes shut, she made her way to the door, but was pushed back by a mutated dog who snapped out at her throat. Screaming, the 15 year old kicked him down viciously, then sprinted out into the open road, holding only a wind up radio and dressed in only pyjamas.

She covered one mouth with a hand as she ran on. The gas was licking at her lungs, burning them, and she started to cough violently. This caught the attention of the live people around her, and two started to chase her in hot persuit. Choking and panting, she tried to increase her pace, making her way round overturned cars and rubble. She almost had no idea where she was going at one point, but found herself on track again after a small diversion around what used to be the town hall.

Then she could see it. The safe house. With the energy left in her legs, she made the final stretch to it, before collapsing at the door, screaming and gasping at it.
"LET ME IN! PLEASE! THEY'RE GOING TO GET ME!" She sobbed, helplessly watching as her two predators approached swiftly. Sobbing, she continued to bang at it, pushing her mean body up against it in fear. She tried the handle, only to find it was locked.
I'm going to die, she repeated in her head, hyperventilating.

An old blue fox, the age of 76, swung the heavy, rusted, metal door open to meet eyes with a hysterical young sheep-gal.

"Confoundit! I told you hooligans this isn't a safe house! This is mine! My property and you-!"

This was the last thing he expected. The last few months he'd had knocking on his door, it had been nothing but reporters trying to ask him about his secret bunker. "It's a SECRET bunker, dagnabbit! And it's private! Now get off the property before I call the police!" That's what he'd told them. And he read the papers online; they advertised that his place was a safe place to go incase of an emergency - his place! It was an outrage! He'd never agreed! And the cops only laughed when he reported it. What was the world coming to?!

A redundant question, to say the least. He knew precisely well what was going on. He prepared for it. That's why he had the bunker built fifty years ago and never came out. Others had called him crazy. Others had labeled him as a "conspiracy theorist." Crazy, no. But look whose theories turned out to be correct! Who's laughing now?!

The old fox scratched his head and fixed his glasses and nearly jumped out of his fur as he was brought back from his deep thoughts.

"Goodness, girly!" He gasped. "Come inside. Come on! In you come! In, in, in! Hurry now! Don't want to let any more radiation in, now do we?"

He held the door open for her. As much as he disliked visitors, he was obliged to help anyone in need. He'd made a promise to himself long ago: that no matter what happens, no matter how much the isolation of the bunker may change him, no matter who it is... if anyone needs aide when 'things go down,' he will provide. And he's determined to keep that promise until the day he dies. or if his name isn't "Blue the Fox."

Darwin proceeded to shoot the 2 madmen to Armageddon, rapidly blowing bits of flesh and face off their bodies, Darwin's was in shock of the gore, he had never killed a man.

He reloaded his assault rifle and immediately helped the woman up to her feet.*Hands the old fox and the sheep lady some food and weapons*
"OK guys, can anyone tell me what the hell is going on!?" Darwin said with a noticable tone of rage and fear in his voice, he asked if the 2 civilians were OK and they nodded.

The two looked concerned, obviously the sheep gal was more worried about what was going on than the old timer, Darwin decided to be generous and give the old man his gas mask and told him to keep an eye on the door in case any crazies try to break in. He told the lady politely to help him look around for other supplies or rations they might need. Darwin wanted these people to survive with him, and he knew that among the people that would enter, Darwin would have to supply for them.

He sighed about the thought, but he knew he had to if he wanted to keep these people alive, he was a good man with a kind heart.
"Do you guys have a radio?" The old fox slowly shook his head but the sheep lady raised hers in the air and happily said "I have one! You can use it!"

Darwin thanked her and set the radio on the table near him, it was dusty and worn out, but it was better than nothing, he attempted to tune it to a channel, while tuning he took of his gas mask, the 2 civilians stared at him, he wiped his face with his other hand, he was a winter fox living in a warm city, his kind weren't usual here

He eventually found a news station "finally" Darwin angrily muttered quietly.

"It seems that a madmam had purposely detonated a nuclear explosion in a small city in Ohio, reporters have been saying to have seen mutilated and mutated figures ripping apart and killing other people while also stealing their belongings and destroying city property, however tons of other countries such as Europe, japan, and Canada have also been experiencing nuclear attacks, someone is clearly trying to kill mankind."

Darwin was shocked when he heard the news reporter speak.
"Thus wasn't just a nuke, this is worldwide nuclear war..." Darwin thought. He told the old fox to keep his eye on the door and the lady to keep looking for supplies, he knew this was going to be a long trip, and he wouldn't like it at all.

Ray had woken up to the eerie quiet of the city, and awoke to find the world demolished. He immediately went into apocalypse mode; if he didn't die in the blast, he wasn't gonna die by any other yahoo out there. After collecting anything and everything he thought useful, Ray moved outside. His more-than-lean body made his visage slightly imposing. Now clad in chains, a large jacket, a gas-mask, tan cargo pants and combat boots, he looked more like a vicious killer than his normally peace-loving self. Ray let his mind go blank, and started out into the wastes. It sounded earlier like his neighbor, an older fox, had some visitors. Ray cared for the old fox, the young raccoon remembered spending days on his own porch, having a conversation with the old fox.  Keeping in mind his now-slightly fearsome visage, Ray moved quietly to the old fox's place. Ray knocked gently on the old fox's front door. "Mr. Blue? You still around?"

"Thank you sir, t-thank you!" The young mess of a sheep cried as she stumbled into the house, before falling on her knees and commencing to cough her lungs up. This was the consequence of not having a gas mask or any protection whatsoever; she could've easily died out there, and she probably had taken in a large quantity of radiation on her ten minute spring here. It was obvious that they would barely be able to go outside, and if they did, they would have to use tons of protection.

She glanced up as someone rushed by and commenced to shoot the two people that had been chasing her- fliching, she kept her head down until the door had been closed and they were safe. And when they asked her for help collecting rations, she could only agree dumbly. She got up, her legs incredibly weak and her vision and head swimming, then followed them down into the house, and into what she guessed was a bunker.

When asked about a radio too, she held up the one she realised she was still clinging onto. The only item that she had brought with her, hopefully to be used in order to help them. No doubt that more people would come- even from where she was, she could hear someone knocking at the door above.

The stranger beside her had managed to get the radio turned on and fixed it to a appropriate channel. She listened in intently to the news, and bit on one of her hooved fingers, recalling what the world was like outside.

"When you're through, feel free to come inside!" Blue yelled to the young fox, over the mayhem. "'Preciate the help, stranger!" He tipped his make-believe hat to him. Of course, he wouldn't be able to come in himself, but if he knocked, Blue would certainly let him inside - provided he left his arms inside the bunker against the wall with all the others. No one in the bunker would need weapons, but if attackers came, they would be ready to grab for the bunker-dwellers to defend themselves.

He pulled the old, heavy door closed and turned back to Sailor. "Go on and get yourself to Decontamination, missy," Blue said to Sailor. "It's the room with the bulletproof-double-door seal on it. If you don't get there soon, you'll sadly begin to feel the true effects of radiation. You won't turn into any sort of superhero, I'll tell you that much. And carry a bottle of iodine with you at all times. It will help with any more rads."

Now, he could hear a faint knocking at his door. He was cautious this time, thinking that maybe someone had followed Sailor  and wanted in to get to her. He grabbed his old pump-action shotty and slid the barrel up the crack of the door as he opened it.

His eyes widened in surprise when his old eyes met Ray.

"Goodness, boy, I was beginning to worry about you! Come inside, quickly now!" He held the door for Ray and scanned the area behind him with acute vigilance while he made his way inside.

Blue never came out much anymore, at least before the nuclear apocalypse and whatnot, but when he did come out, he had always passed by little Ray's house. The little guy always seemed to be able to spark up a conversation that Old Blue was hiding somewhere inside him. Needless to say, he liked Ray. And he was more than glad he was safe.

"Avert your eyes from the Decon Room until Ms. Sheep is finished, then go on and step in there yourself. Need to try and clean yourself up, boy. Those rads won't go away quickly otherwise. And don't forget your complimentary iodine," he chuckled, pointing to the shelf that housed hundreds of small bottles of the stuff.

Ray stepped inside and turned to face Blue, so that he could both avoid this 'Ms. Sheep' and talk with the old fox. He pulled his mask off, and sighed. "I didn't know you opened this place to the public." Ray shook his head again. "Anyway, I'm glad to see you too, Blue. So, what's the plan?"

"Ugh!"
Blue rubbed his wrinkled eyes in annoyance, then fixed his glasses.
"Don't believe what you read in the papers or hear on T.V. Those daggum reporters... I told them this place was private. I told them. But... I am willing to help out anyone who needs it," he finished apologetically.

Blue seemed taken aback at his last question.

"'The plan'? Sonny, the plan is to survive. I don't know about you, but I have no intention of leaving this place. Additionally, I have no intentions on retaliation. Someone like me can't take them on by myself, I'm 76 years old! Do you know who dropped these on us, Ray? Do you? We didn't bomb each other, Ray. No, countries aren't fighting each other. It's a sham! A false flag! WE dropped them on ourselves! Our own governments did! And they want to point the fingers at everyone else! They want to end the world while they sit safely in their secret underground complexes that go sprawling out for miles beneath the surface. And then, when everything is all over, they will come up out of their little foxholes, excuse the pun, and start all over again. It's like some sort of evil, twisted Noah's Ark thing! It's tragic, but true!"

He then went into a violent coughing fit before continuing. "But you don't have to believe me," he wheezed. "I know no one else does. I'm the 'Crazy Old Fox,' remember?" He put up his paw to lean against the door to his bunker while he caught his breath.

Ray placed a paw gently on Blue's shoulder, in an attempt to keep him from collapsing.
"Easy, old timer. We don't need to lose you yet. I'm not writing off anything, who knows in this day and age. All we know now is Hell's broken loose. We're gonna stick this out, someone's gonna come and we'll be safe. However, as for staying in this place, that's just not an option. You've got food in here for, what, a few dozen years for one old fox, right? Now you've got two more, unless you're lookin' to stick it out down here alone. I wouldn't blame ya, but you've got company right now. I'll be more than willing to scab around for you, I'd honestly rather it be me than the Ms. Sheep in decon."

Old Blue's muzzle curled up in a small smile. "Yeah, you're probably right about that. I have to admit, I was only expecting one or two visitors at the most. That's what I get for poor planning. Well... less-than-exemplary planning."

He cleared his throat. "I'm sure there will be plenty of places to scavenge from once the heat dies down. It's likely best to go at night, though. And as your elder, I can't permit you to go alone. I'm sure you're the 'baddest of the bad,' as you kids say, but I say 'teamwork or get the fuggout,'" he chuckled to himself. "Sorry. Always wanted to say that to someone. If you want to go out, you'll have to go with someone else. Teams of two or more That's the rule that I just made up. Maybe that fox fellow outside, if he's not too keen on taking the role of sentry all day and night. Or mayhaps there's someone inside that may be willing to go with you," he shrugged. "Your call - just don't go alone. Unless you're Jon Cena... which you clearly are not. Yes, I know who Jon Cena is... or was. Not too sure at this point."

Darwin finished listening to the reporter and walked over to the group of citizen's to tell them the news.

"Sorry to say it guys, but not only is this city suffering from nuclear fallout, the whole world is as well!"
"I want you guys to tell me your names"
Darwin asked them, the sheep girl replied with Sailor, the old fox replied with Blue, and he already knew the other ones name.
"Good, my name is Darwin, I'm a winter fox that came from Antarctica, and I will be providing for you three."

The three civilians faces suddenly brightened up a little bit, even Blues.

Darwin handed Ray a handgun and some food. "Look Ray, these people are obviously terrified of what's going on but we have to make them calm and make them feel like their safe, now I'm no soldier, you now I'm a scrawny guy, but my dad was, and he told me to keep yourself and everyone in the area calm and safe during dire situations like this, and right now, I'm trying to keep that rule in order, I have Blue keeping his eye on the door, and I have sailor gathering supplies, I'm the leader of this group so far, I'm giving you people food and blowing anyones heads off if if they try anything, you can't trust anyone out here, but I want you to load this handgun and eat some food, we have to survive out here."

Ray simply nodded and took the food, he knew exactly what Darwin was talking about.

Darwin walked over to sailor and blue, they stood a head shorter than his surprisingly tall frame.

"Everything's going to be ok, no need to worry about anything, I called my friend to be here just a minute to help guard the place. We should be okay, if anyone needs anything, and I mean anything *winks at Sailor* then just come to your pal Darwin."

Darwin charmingly walked away to go do his own business, he looked around, Sailor was giggling at how Darwin winked at her, and blue was lost deep in thought of his family and what he thinks might happen during this strive to survive, Ray was eating and enjoying his food, still trying to figure out how to use the type of handgun Darwin gave him.

Darwin was happy everyone was doing well, he needed calmness in here.

But then he heard distant screaming Blue yelled at Darwin to get over here, as he heard the screaming as well, he screamed for everyone to get back and he aimed his assault rifle at the door, the 3 civilians scurried back behind him for their own safety.

Soon after that a large slam followed the door, Darwin quickly looked up and saw a heavily disfigured face, most likely by radiation.

"LET ME IN YOU SON OF A BITCH!" He yelled at Darwin.

"Why? Your just another irradiated outcast that's gone insane and will only betray us sooner or later if we allowed you in here, I only accept people who don't look like ghouls" Darwin calmly said to the man.

He pulled out a grenade, and Darwin quickly shot him in the head, blood splattering over his head and face, he didn't want these people to die.

He turned around and wiped the blood off his face. "I'm sorry you had to see that." Said the Artic fox. "Blue you can take a break from door sentry, Ray that's your job now.

Ray sighed but knew he had to do it "ok" he muttered and slowly walked to the door.

Sailor thanked Darwin for killing the madman, Darwin gave her a reassuring "I had to, it's my job to keep everyone safe" kind of vibe and walked to go eat something.

He turned back to see Blue and Ray, he took a quick glance at their expressions on their face while conversating with Sailor. Ray was tired and worried, but he was still watching the door regardless, he knew what had to be done. Blue was just sitting there, eating a sandwich, his face was slightly concerned but mostly blank and expressionless.

He continued to talk to Sailor, as he was lonely and needed a mate, and he hoped to get that out of her, she was young and pretty, exactly what Darwin was looking for, she was at least a whole foot shorter than him, but Darwin could accept that, he was a tall guy, so they kept on talking about what theories could be true about this whole nuclear detontonation, Sailor also loved to change subjects, she talked about pets and how mean people can be, Darwin followed along and tried to keep up by responding in the most genuine way to her questions as possible, while keeping a smile on his face.

Everyone was happy, and he was talking to a pretty lady, he gave Sailor compliments, such as "I like your hair" or "your eyes really bring out your personality" and it seemed to work somewhat, but Darwin kept trying to charm her

At least no one is dead yet, Darwin thought.

(I like that we're telling a story here, Darwin, but what I don't like is when people put words into my mouth, thoughts in my head, or actions in my character. A little bit is fine, but you're making too many things happen at once without giving anyone else a chance to respond. Sorry, but there's just too much power playing for me to handle...)

Darwin started to talk a bit about himself during his conversation with Sailor.

"Did you know that my father was a military soldier? A strong one at that, he stood at 6'4 and weighed 240 pounds,he was a huge guy, now *chuckles* you would expect me to get his kind of body but no, I'm just a skinny indoor person, I'm no powerful leader like he was, he gave me all this equipment in case of emergencies if he ever died, and he did, of terminal cancer, it was sad but I had to move on, we all do at some point."

Darwin waited a moment for the group to soak in the truth, then he continued.

"My mother went missing about 2 years ago, her friends told me that she was mugged and kidnapped by someone, others say she died in a car crash, no one really knows, it's still a mystery to this day,and I'm still a bit worried about her Everytime I think about it, but I know she's a strong woman, and she can survive just about anything, so I can't fret too much, but as her son, I have to worry a little every now and then."

"I was going to be an astronaut when I moved to Ohio, but I had to be good at math, and I am NOT a math person, so I decided to back off of that job, and I'm still looking for one, but I love space, I really really love space, now I could talk for hours and hours of space facts and information but I didn't want to kill you guys of boredom *laughs lightly*".

"I have a twin brother, he lives in Norway right now, he's just visiting his friends and family there, he has a YouTube channel and he's pretty popular and most of his fans are Norwegian, so he decided to visit to greet and hang out with his fans."

"I'm just telling you guys some stuff about me to keep everyone calm."  The group understood and nodded.

"So I'm still looking for a job, my dad's dead, my mom's missing, my brother's in Norway and I'm kind of a space nerd, now you guys know who a bit more about me, who else would like to talk about themselves?" Darwin asked, he leaned back and crossed his arms, waiting to hear any replies or life stories of the people in the group.

He wanted to get to know his friends here, so he sat back and waited for reply.

Sailor did as the old fox said, and headed into the decontamination room. Once inside, her head was instantly starting to clear; it was like a plague had just been purged out of her body. On her way out, she spotted the shelves of iodine and took a small bottle, as Blue had advised. Then, she slumped down in a corner, staring blankly at the floor.

It was then that Darwin started talking, both to the group and at her. I'm 15 dude, she thought to herself as she picked up on the subtle compliments, and she felt herself giggle along- her mind was a mess at the moment, so her emotions were running freely. It then struck her that, yes, they were in an apocolypse right now, and she, Sailor, was the only female in the room at the moment. If it remained that way, then it would be her responsibility to carry on their race. She was young, and would be able to mother children, if they survived so long. With a sickened swallow, she pushed that thought to the very depths of her mind. Thinking about what sort if attention she was likely to get wasn't going to put her in high spirits any time soon.

From outside of her mind, she picked up something about what everyone's life stories were, and listened in on Darwin's. At the end, she gave him the biggest smile she could muster (which was not very big at all), and commenced to start speaking.

"Well. My name is Sailor. I'm 15, going on 16 in 2 days time, and am frigging terrified of what's going to happen to us.

My family were killed this morning- or last night, I can't tell. My mum went mental in the days leading up to this. She said that a apocolypse would never happen, and she banned all talk of it in our house, so we were never prepared. My brother was 6 years old, and he's gone too. My dad left home ages ago, and we haven't heard from him since.

I wanted to be a vet, but that's clearly not an option any more. I was doing alright at school; getting good grades, was friends with a ton of weebs, and was generally quite happy. But yea. This happened. And now we're screwed, aren't we?

There's not much to me really. I used to draw stuff, and I like to read. That's about it." She finished off with a shrug, and looked up at everyone else. There honestly was more to be said, but she didn't feel comfortable with sharing it. She knew she would give up all her secrets eventually, but now was not the time.

Darwin listened to Sailors story, and he was honest about it.

"Well at least your straightforward and you get to the point, I'm sorry about your brother and your father, I'm sure they were both nice people."

Darwin put himself in sailors shoes, having her family killed just overnight, it was something he knew no one could handle, he thought as he snuffed back a tear in his eye.

He pulled himself together and looked up.
"You said you were in school?"
Sailor nodded, she said she was in high school, Darwin acknowledged the fact that he was possibly too old for her, she did look like a freshman or at least beginning sophomore, Darwin just started college a month ago, he knew he was too old for Sailor.

"OK, gotcha"

Darwin looked at his shoes, covered in blood from the grenade freak earlier.

"Ugh" Darwin gagged at the sight of blood and flesh bits on his shoes, he took off his jacket and used it as a towel to wipe it off, he then proceeded to put it back on unzipped

Sailor had a look of disapproval that Darwin used his clothes to wipe blood off and just put it back on without thought, Darwin saw the look on her face and wondered why she was looking at him strangely, but then he quickly realized what he did and apologized, sailor accepted the apology but was still disgusted, understandably.

Darwin stood there with blood on his jacket and shirt, he had a blank expression on his face, he was thinking about the look on his father's face right before he died, it was sad and monotone, like a wise old man that knew he was going to die soon, but didn't care

He cleared his mind of the horrible thought and looked up at Blue.

"So Blue, what's going on with your life? I would like to know more about you." Darwin asked with a noticeable tone of sadness and depression in his voice.

The Blue fox looked up and thought for a moment, Darwin was waiting for a reply.

Blue dipped his head sympathetically at the youngun's stories, and wiped the lenses of his specs clean with a tattered handkerchief which a stuffed back into his pocket.

"So you want to know about me, do you?" he sighed as he leaned back in an old squeaky rocking chair. "Not a whole lot to tell. Used to be a student at the local university. 'Brightest mind in seven states,' they told me. I remember days and days of intense research. Still doing research. The one thing I keep finding from all my years of researching is that this world is doomed to kill itself. And here we are. As for my loved ones... Every time I try to think of my family, I start crying. I don't know why," he admitted. "I don't know who or where they are. I can't even remember their faces anymore."

A tear fell from his cheek. He briskly wiped it away.

"I'm not even sad. Really. I'm just confused. I don't think I have Alzheimers or anything like that, like we old people tend to get. But there's huge chunks of my life missing. But... my research..." He tapped the side of his head. "...is still there. All of it."

He nodded at Darwin. "You wanted to know, now you do. That's all I got. Figure someone ought to know it sometime."

Darwin realized that kind of everyone in this town had a dark past, including his own.

He looked at blue who was in his rocking chair, he saw him snuff back a tear, he probably thought about his family again.

Darwin thought for a moment. "So, you were a smartie, nice, I'm pretty sure a lot of people came to you for advice, I'm sorry for your family."

Blue looked at Darwin with a face of exhaustion and carelessness, he knew that Darwin's words didn't reassure him at all, and Darwin quickly realized that too, and quietly apologized for the inconvienence.

Darwin sluggishly walked towards the upward rectangular window, it was sunset, they had time for one more story before somebody was going to scavenge for food and supplies.

The white fox scratched his ear, and looked at his grey palms, pooling with sweat, Darwin was getting tired just as fast as everyone else in the group, but he knew someone had to provide for them, and Darwin promised them that very order.

He looked at Ray, arms and legs crossed while leaning back on a wall across from Sailor and Blue, he was clearly waiting his turn, but didn't want to seem desperate so he waited for Darwin to talk.

Darwin started to speak, his voice noticable parched, "it's...." He stopped and took a quick drink of water, he sounded much better when he spoke now.

"It's near sunset now but we have time for another story, Ray, you look like you have a dark past, tell us everything."

The raccoon waited a moment but then stood up and brushed off his shoulders, he looked at Darwin who was eager to hear his life story, and was about to speak, but waited for everyone to get ready, as he knew they want to hear this.

"Hah, yeah, I don't really feel like talking at the moment. And my life story really isn't that interesting," Sailor said with a shrug, in response to Darwin's comment. And after that, she kept silent. Even after hearing herself saying it, she couldn't accept that her family were really dead. Part of her thought that it was all fake, and she hadn't seen their bodies in the house. Instinct told her to go back and save them, but reality was that it was hopeless. She played with her fingers aimlessly as she listened in on Blue's story.

It reminded her of her grandpa. He forgot stuff to, but she had always been close to him. She sniffed sadly too, memories and sympathy flooding over her mind, and she looked up at him sadly. She felt sorry for him too- he had also lost his loved ones, and she knew how much that hurt. And she could tell that although he was tough and cranky on the outside, he was lovely on the inside. Knowing this made Sailor's idea if the future just that little bit brighter. Sharing a bunker with people like him wouldn't be as bad as she first imagined.

{Just a word to Darwin- As Blue has said before, you're doing quite a lot of godmodding. If you can, I would recommend limiting down the control of other characters; leave posts open to interpretation, and don't control other people's actions. Thanks! c:
Also, feel free to do whatever you want to Sailor; she'll get over her depression soon, and she's the only gal so far  XD }

"I'm sorry that your family is dead, but, what happened to your mom? How did she start to lose her sanity? Sorry if I sound nosy, I'm just curious." Darwin said with a patient look of wait on his face, he was extremely interested in everyones life stories, and started to ask personal questions to give Ray some time to think.

He looked in the mirror next to the iodine bottles, he remembered what he said earlier and quickly took one in case he dropped his gas mask and couldn't find it when scavenging, he hoped no one noticed and put the bottle in his pocket, then quickly checked himself in the mirror to make sure he looked decent, he took off his jacket and rolled up his sleeves, revealing his skinny forearms, covered in white fur, however the palms were gray, and so were his fingertips.

After doing so, he swiftly turned around and crossed his arms, waiting for Sailor to reply, he wanted to know everything.

Darwin was looking out the window, the sunset was beautiful, a mix of red, orange, yellow and a bit of purple put in there, it was like a fast food restraint smoothie, but with beauty to it (kinda stupid I know but try to bare with it)

He was thinking about what happened to his mom, is she dead? Is she taking a new identity and starting a new life? Is she trying to survive in the wilderness as we speak? Is she being held hostage by some maniac? Darwin had so many questions, one day he would start a search for her, but now was obviously not the time, he and the group are still trying to survive.

He brushed off his pants and rubbed his eyes, he couldn't see straight, he was exhausted, but remained vigilant in case any attacks happened or if it was dusk yet, he seriously wanted to sleep, but knew that if he did, who would protect the civilians? He was the only one that was prepared for attack, of course blue had his shotgun but he was thinking and was in a vulnerable position, Darwin had to remain alert and awake, anything could go wrong in a time like this.

He was expecting another crazy to attempt to break down the door, but it was silent, extremely silent, the only noise in the room was Blues rocking chair and radio static from Sailors radio, no other noise was heard, but Darwin accepted it, a little peace and quiet was what everyone needed every once in a while.

Darwin was also hoping his brother was doing well in Norway, he cares deeply for his family and wished him a good trip.

The friend that Darwin called earlier in the day wasn't here, he responded and said that he would be here, but he said he was lost, as Darwin's friend lived far from him, and it took a while to get to any area that Darwin usually was in.

He had a worried look on his face, they needed another gaurdsmen in case Darwin fell asleep, he tried his best to keep his eyes open, but he can only stay awake for so long, he would fall sleep eventually just like the other three would.

He stopped to look at the ground and walls, it was dusty and covered in dirt and food/water stains, he under stod that Blue was living here for over half a century, but he would try to tidy it up a bit if he were the old fox, as he didn't like dirty places and was a clean man himself

Speaking of clean he took off his gloves and walked over to the sink, he slowly turned on the faucet and water then started to run, he writhed and turned his hands in the semi-cold water, and even splashed some.water in his face to help wake him up, the sink was dusty and covered in grime, so he tried his best to not touch it, getting an illness while in a nuclear fallout is the last thing you want to happen.

He washed off his gloves too and then put them back on when he was finished, they gripped his fingers much better now.

He turned around and stumbled away from the sink, he sluggishly turned around, just barely avoiding falling over from exhaustion to face Sailor, he was still waiting for a reply. Maybe she didn't want to talk about it, and Darwin would perfectly understand, but he was still curious about her mother's mental health, as Darwin was always a curious person.

He fixed his posture and stood up, attempting to look at least half awake, he patiently waited for Sailor to reply.

"You okay there, lad? You don't look took good," said Blue to young Darwin. "Lie down awhile. Try to relax a little. I know a lot is probably going through your head right now, but there will be plenty of time later to do whatever it is you're thinking of. But for now, you need rest. There are people out there counting on the fact that we're too exhausted to fight back. Let's prove them wrong, see? There are some blankets and cots in the other room, feel free to use whatever you need."

He gripped the armrest of his chair. He knew he wouldn't be able to stay awake all night either. Someone would have to watch the door. If he had to, he would sleep in front of it alone, but he wasn't sure he could count on himself alone to keep the children safe. His senses aren't what they used to be.

"If, um... if you are up for it, do you think you could help me guard the door tonight? We will just have to sleep by it. We'll hear if anyone tries to get in. Normally, I don't have to worry about it, but now-... well... it's hell outside. I just want to be sure it stays out there."

Ray shook his head. "Far from it, friend. My past is pretty normal, just wanted to make others wary."

As Blue said something about watching the door. "I'll watch the door, old man," Ray said with a grin, "I don't normally sleep much, anyway."

"I'm alright, but really tired, I need to take a nap or I'll fall asleep in the middle of the night, just in case, here's some ammo for your shotgun."

Blue had plenty of ammo but hey, more was never a bad thing.

He went to go get a blanket and set an alarm for his phone a few hours from now and set it on the end table beside his cot.

"Ray, I thought you would have a darker past, you seem like the kind of guy that would, but anyway that's not the point, if blue falls asleep, can you wake him up or take his place?"

Darwin wanted to hear an answer from before going to asleep, he wanted to make sure these people had someone protecting them.

Blue smiled as he scooped up the shells out of Darwin's hand and tucked them into his breast pocket. "I certainly do appreciate your eagerness to help out," He said to Ray and Darwin. "Both of you. Looks like we have an all-right team here. I think we're going to be just fine."

He yawned and went on. "But tomorrow is when the real struggle begins. Need to... stay alert for... survivors... scavenge... supplies... bandits... mutants...." Blue trailed of and spoke even fainter as his eyelids drifted down over his eyes and he fell into a sleep fit for an old man.

"Zzzzzzzzz....."

"I think she kinda went the opposite of paranoid, y'know? Or maybe she was paranoid. But she went mental over this apocalypse business. The radio I brought with me is the 7th I've ever had to buy. The rest she trashed, saying that the government were 'filling my head up with lies' and that 'no daughter of mine will ever fall for their conspiracies'. And she was basically mad before everything happened. She had extreme OCD and always yelled at my brother and me. But hey. I guess that's over now. Time to move on." Sailor finished with a sniff, before giving Darwin another smile, slightly stronger this time, before watching everyone go off in their separate ways. She lay her head back against the wall, and looked up at the ceiling. She knew that she would be sad over the next few days, or even weeks- it was only natural. But then, she wouldn't be getting her old life back, and there was no way that she would be able to. She would have to move on, and fast. Sighing, she closed her eyes for a while, and tried to relax herself.

She couldn't. Getting up silently, she made her way over to where Ray and Blue were seated at the entrance, and stood awkwardly, before whispering, "I can't get to sleep. Is it okay if I stay here with you guys? Can I help in any way?" She rubbed one arm nervously, before brushing her messy hair out of her face.

{You're doing much better Darwin c: I think you've got the hang of it now cx

Blue woke with a start, and his glasses flew off the end of his muzzle.

"Amen! What? Oh. Hi there, missy. Sorry. Must have dozed off. You said something about wanting to help out, am I right? Well, There is one thing that will need done eventually, and that's cleaning out the Pump Room. When the skies started raining ashes, I flipped the water intake over to my personal reservoir. Problem is, though, the pump needs turned on. I don't know when the pressure in the pipes will drop, but when that happens, we'll have no water unless the pump is turned on. the Pump Room piled high with boxes and shelves and old books."

"The pump actually runs off radiation. Clever design I made up myself. See, there's a collector up above, and it absorbs the energy required to make the pump function. Completely safe, too. The pump also has virtually no wasted energy. The perpetually circulated water flow in the pipes keeps the power on. That's what knowledge will do for ya, kiddo," he winked.

He was about to say something else, but the power suddenly shut off, leaving the whole bunker in pitch-blackness.

". . ." No one could see his expression at that moment, but if they could, it would look something like:  >.>

"Flashlights to your left, doll."

Sailor would've said, "Great, I'll get to work," very cheerfully and glad that she could be of service, but the power suddenly went out, and she let out a small bleat of surprise and fear. After a few moments, she heard Blue telling her where the flashlights were, and she felt her way to where they were. Grabbing one, she faced it down at the floor before turning one on, in order to avoid blinding anyone. She did that to her brother once upon a time, and he didn't appreciate it in the slightest. Pointing it to the shelf where she got the torch from, she grabbed another one and held it out to Blue.
"I think you'll need this. Just in case." She said, smiling at him. Out of all the people here, she had warmed up to him the most. She was also adequately fascinated with how he had made a pump that ran off radiation. She loved science, and this interested her a lot. But questions would have to wait- she had a job to do.

Darwin thanked Ray for his response and slowly dozed off to sleep, he loved his cot, it was smooth and cozy, he wondered how something so old could be so comfortable, he slowly dozed off while thinking about his family and others life stories.

However just an hour later he heard a large snap and heard people start to panic, he got up but couldn't see anything, it was pitch black.

Darwin grabbed the phone from his end table and used it as a flashlight to observe his surroundings. Once Darwins eyes adjusted he got out of bed, his clothes were wrinkled, he quickly looked in the mirror with his phone, he always cared about how he looked.

His hair was frizzled and messed up, he had bags under his eyes, and looked like he was dying, obviously he was fine and just ignored this look, he quickly ran into the room and saw Sailor hand blue a flashlight, he was wondering what was going on, he tried to turn on the lights and quickly found out the power went out, he looked the iodine bottle shelf near him, under it were flashlights, he took one just in case and asked if where Ray was and if he had a flashlight. He was slightly scared but at least knew what was happening.

Darwin was hearing about the pump right before he woke up, he was a fox and thus had excellent hearing.

"Runs off of radiation?Your clever, I don't have that kind of brain or anything....." Darwin started to feel like an idiot for not having something that smart.

"I could go turn it on and regulate the pressure, you just need to tell me how" Darwin said, he was willing to help but not without the information he needed to do so.

"Well, thank ya, darlin,'" Blue said as he clicked the light on from Sailor. "You're too kind to me."

"Oh, good mornin' bright eyes!" Blue chuckled at the appearance of Darwin "Have a good nap?"

After hearing the young fox's comment about wanting to help out as well, the scratched his chin as he thought everything over.

"Ah... Well," Blue said to Darwin. "Let's see now... first you'll have to make a path to the pump. There's so many old trinkets and odds and ends between that door and the pump that you won't be able to get it on right away. Then, once you find the old gal, you'll probably have to make sure there aren't any broken parts. Shouldn't be since I don't go in there often, but you never know. Next, give the wheel a good spin. Turns on like an old plane's propeller. Pressure should already be regulated, but there's a control panel on the wall if you need to double-check. I believe there's a paper in there somewhere that shows the correct levels should be. Then just flip the big ol' switch, and voila! Power. Oh, and if you could, sonny, if you could give 'er a little oil, I'm sure she'd appreciate it." He winked.

He flicked his wrist to the side, directing the beam from his light to the table with another flashlight on it. "Don't forget yer daylight."

Darwin heard a knock on the door, he walked up to the door and heard someone talk "Darwin, Darwin you there man? It's me, Santos, you called me to get to a safe house but I didn't know which one, is this the right safe house?" Darwin sighed and facepalmed, he forgot to tell him the directions to which safe house, Darwin immediately opened the door but put on the chain so he couldn't break in if he was an imposter, he saw a masked man about 5'8-5'9, and had a somewhat stocky build, he asked to come in.

Darwin took off the lock and let him in, he gave Darwin a hug and asked him how he was doing.

"I'm doing OK, but Santos, do you have any idea what's going on around here?"

He took off his mask, he was a lizard, he replied with a tone of panic in his voice. "Yeah there's bombs going off, some secret organization is trying to take over the world, there's tons of radiation out here and-" Darwin cut Santos off.

"Secret organization?" Darwin asked Santos if he knew who they were. Santos took a deep breath and started speaking.

"My sister told me it was a super secret organization called The Gemini Corporation, but we know nothing about them, they live in some part of Europe, however they were immigrants, we don't know their actual nationality."

"When did you hear about this?" Darwin aksed

"My sister told me when the whole thing started, we weren't able to contact anyone, our signal on the radio took way too long to get, and only my sister heard about it, me and my family are separated, my parents said they were trying to blend in by dressing up as bandits and raiders, but I have no idea where my brother or sister is."

"Damnit!" Yelled Darwin "I'm tired of people losing their family members!"

Santos put his scaly hand on Darwin's bony shoulder "don't worry about it, we can look for them while we look for supplies."

"I guess so...." Darwin said with uncertainty.

He introduced Santos to everyone.

Santos:Statistics

Coloring:red with green spots all over his body, he has one large spot on his stomach and shoulders, and has irregular shaped spots all over the body, including the face.
Eye color: Orange
Species:Lizard
Height: 5'9
Weight:215 lbs
Build: somewhat stocky and chubby, has almost no muscle definition in his entire body, it's mostly fat. He has large, broad shoulders and thick skin, giving him a stocky appearance.

Santos waved at the group, his beady orange eyes shot around the room, as he scanned Sailor, Blue and Ray and the room itself, he wasn't good with meeting new people, so he started to shake nervously.

"Afternoon, stranger," Blue said cheerily to Santos. "A friend of a friend is a friend, in the end... err, something like that." He rose from his chair and extended his paw in greeting. "It's good to see that another good soul made it. Just a tick, there, did you say 'Gemini'? I think I recognize that name. They must be the ones who influenced the world's governments to blow up everyone on the planet! I bet they have bases here in the U.S., too. Ooh, if only I could get my paws around their necks, why I'd... I'D-...!"

He was starting to get red in the face with anger.
Title: Re: Nuclear fallout survival roleplay
Post by: Lord Isscarus on February 09, 2017, 12:59:53 AM
Santos nervously Shaked Blues hand he could feel the fur from his hand rub against his scales.
he was a very shy person, he heard Blue ask about The Gemini Corporation and started to get mad, he could clearly see his face turning red almost instantly.

"Calm down, dude! Being angry isn't going to help us!" Shouted Santos, he wasn't as good as calming people down as Darwin was.

Santos got a hold of himself and started to speak more calmly.
"Yes, The Gemini Corporation is an agency full of top secret agents that are planning for world domination, im not sure why, but they live in Europe, however they are immigrants, their real nationality is unknown, some people say they are doing it for money, that they would label themselves at "Earths Savior". They would make people see them as a prophet to save humanity, and people would donate money to help shelter them and keep them safe, and then at the very end, they would use all the donated money to upgrade their facility and get more advanced equipment to empower them selves, and that they would rule the world with an Iron Fist and make themselves the most powerful government on earth, and not only would put us in a worldwide fallout, but would also put us in a cruel and unfair communism government with no rights for everyone, forcing us to do slave labor for them, and pretty much making us thier bitch, sorry about the foul language."

Darwin was surprised at the brilliance of the theory.

"Who told you this?" Darwin wanted to know everything about The Gemini Corporation and how to stop them if this is actually true.

Santos red scaly body shifted towards Darwin's direction, his large, beady orange eyes focused onto his face, making sure he pays attention.

"My sister, some conspiracy theorists online, some survivors who found about them, and one of my friends."

Darwin was interested. "Well at least we have your sister to turn to, and some people online, but we can't always trust them, that and the power is still out."

"The power is out?" Santos asked, he was a lizard, band lizards can easily see in the dark, but then he saw Sailor and Ray holding flashlights, and then could tell that the power went out.

"Yeah, there's also radiation outside, good thing you covered your face but just in case go to decontamination, you want to get rid of any radiation possible, it has some pretty nasty effects on you, and YOU DO NOT want to live through to see them."

Darwin pointed to where the decon room was and Santos got up and walked over there, he entered and closed the door behind him, he took off his clothes and started the decontamination sequence.

Darwin looked at Blue, with a look of surprise on his face he began speaking.
"His theory is actually very plausible (believable) but we need more information, we don't know if this is real, and that theory is still just a theory, Blue, you said you know about them, could you tell us everything you know about The Gemini Corporation? If what Santos is saying is true then we have to shut them down, so try to tell me everything."

Darwin leaned in closer to Blue so he could hear him better.
Title: Re: Nuclear fallout survival roleplay
Post by: Blue Fox on February 09, 2017, 03:22:05 AM
Having calmed down a bit by now, Blue rubbed his chin thoughtfully."Gemini... He's right about them being based in Europe. That's where they began as a corporation. By the time I'd heard of them, they'd grown to an immense size already. They underestimated their ability to keep this whole thing quiet with the hundreds of thousands of employees they had. Eventually word got out that yes, they existed, and yes, they were doing private scientific research. Some time later, I heard tell that one of the janitors had somehow managed to smuggle out a damning file which he leaked to the internet. They silenced him quick and plotted a cover-up that made it seem like a hoax. That's when they decided it would be in their best interest to operate completely underground. So they shut themselves off from the world. Now, nothing - not workers, not trash, nothing - leaves. It's a one-way company. Once in, never out. Or so I hear. I heard tell that they branched out, having at least one facility per continent. Heck, may even have one right beneath our feet; we'd never know! Not fer sure about that, though. May just be a rumor."

Blue sighed. "'xcuse me a moment." He slowly got up out of his chair and, with the aid of his flashlight, made his way over over to a box. With a grunt, he bent down and snatched a couple plastic bottles of water. He uncapped one of the bottles, took a swig, then shuffled his way back to Ray, Darwin, and Santos. He set the bottles on a small nearby table and slowly slumped back into his rocker.

"Water if'un you fellers need some. Now where was I? Ah, yes. That bastard company. Gemini is so powerful and has so much influence that it has contracts with the highest people in government. No, I don't mean the king, the queen, the parliament, or the president. I mean the puppetmasters pulling the strings. Gemini has contracts with them and have offered to keep them safe if they made happen the end of the world as we know it, and if the puppetmasters occasionally tossed a pretty penny their way. Now, if you peek outside the doors, I'm sure you can guess where they are. They want a factory reset. And when they appear out of the ashes as 'the good guys,' they will help the world - meaning whoever is left alive at that point - gets back on its feet, the puppetmasters are promised that their countries would be returned to them, and that they would rule supreme. Unlimited power. No resistance. We are their cattle. It's disgusting."

Blue cleared his throat.

"That's my understanding of it, anyway."

Ray took a water bottle, and grabbed a gas-mask. "I can't guarantee you'll be safe, Darwin. I can guaranty my own safety." He looked at Blue a moment. "I know it's dangerous, but as long as I look threatening, it'll stave off the less insane." The raccoon sighed semi-audibly. "I don't want anyone to die on my watch."

Darwin was in deep thought but he heard about everything anyway.

He snapped back to reality and started to talk.

"So they build their corporation underground so no one will notice? Smart, they've also had tons of contracts about keeping humanity sae, so we know that parts true, but the donating and putting us into a communism part, is that true?"

Darwin wondered and thought about what The Gemini Corporation just might be up to.

They all heard the decontamination sequence end, and saw Santos walk out, still trying to put his shirt on. He used his lizard speed by getting on all fours and started to scurry over to where they were. He then proceeded to stand up and sit down next to Blue and Darwin.

Darwin looked at Ray, he blinked and cleared his throat.
"More than one person must go, beside s I believe I would have the most imposing figure, I'm the tallest one here, I'm 6'3, sure I might be skinny but height still makes you look threatening.

Darwin looked at Santos.
"Santos, here's the plan, me and Ray will go look for food and supplies in just a minute,  you, Blue and Sailor (he pointed to the sheep lady to tell him where she was) stay in here and try your best to guard the place, do not open the door for ANYONE, keep it locked and watched at all times so no one gets in, if someone does, you blow their head off, got it?"

Santos agreed to the plan and nodded, but he waited for the other 2 to reply, he then looked at Darwin and listened some more into his plan.

"Me and Ray will disguise ourselves as bandits or raiders, and we will go out and look for supplies, but we're trying to look like we are also bandits like they are so they won't mess with us. Santos I want you to try to contact your sister and learn more about The Gemini Corporation, me and Ray are about to go here in a second, I'm still trying to get that pump on."

"I'll try to reach her if I can but I can't guarantee its gonna be easy Darwin, I brought my phone with me, ill call you guys every 5 minutes to check on you, but put your phone to vibrate so others won't hear and get suspicious."

Darwin was still trying to pressurize the pump, he was waiting for Sailor to help him with the job but he kept on doing so anyway.
He quickly got out his phone and put it on silent, then he put it back in his pocket.

He looked at Ray
"Ray, we will be wearing gas masks, bulletproof vests, army helmets and we'll be armed with rifles and grenades, they won't want to mess with us, don't worry about it, as long as we try to sneak around quietly and don't start any beef, we will be in the clear."

Darwin kept signaling Sailor to come help him operate and depressurize the pump while he was attempting to do so as we speak.
After he was done with the pump he would get ready and arm himself up with everything he can, then he would go out with Ray.

He knew this wasn't the best plan but they were well equipped for this would likely survive the trip.

{Sorry for the late replyyyyyy :c}

Sailor went down and followed all the instructions that Blue had given her. She navigated her way to the pump room (only tripping over once), and set to work clearing away the piles of boxes that blocked her way, whilst gripping the torch in her mouth- she needed both her hands to move the heavy objects. Soon, she could precariously step over the remaining objects and got up to the pump. Looking around, she spotted a large leaver, and seeing no other obvious switches, she pushed it up. It kicked into life, and she waited a few moments, before making her way back up, reassured that it wasn't going to blow up.

When she got back up, she heard an unfamiliar voice, and she nervously slipped into the hall where she spotted Blue and Darwin engaged with a lizard she had never seen before. She presumed immediately that he was friendly, so she stepped back against the wall, smiling politely in the shadows.

"Ray," said Blue, putting his paw on the boy's shoulder. "You're a smart boy. I understand if you want to go out alone. I won't stop you, but that doesn't mean everyone else would let you go so easily. You'll have to take that up with them. And sorry, Darwin, if someone needs help, I'm going to have to let them in. It's just what I got to do."

Blue perked up and blinked rapidly as the light flickered to life once more.

He chuckled. "By golly, she did it."

Movement in the shadows caught his eye. "Was beginning to worry a little there. Glad you're okay. Good job, Sailor!" He smiled and waved at her.

Darwin looked at Blue.

"Listen Blue, I understand that your a good person, but only let in people who you are absolutely positive won't try to betray us, if they seem shady or suspicious, at least question them OK?"

"Do you have a second bulletproof vest? I only brought one with me here, I did bring a second helmet though."

He handed the helmet to Ray, he also gave him an assault rifle with ammunition, he told Ray to go get a pack or bag to put stuff in, they would need it to store the supplies.

He grabbed his backpack and emptied it out, he was going to use it to store supplies but he wanted Ray to have one of his own
After giving him the ammunition, rifle, and helmet, he proceeded to put on his bulletproof vest, that he strapped on his gas mask, then put a helmet over his head, then he bent down to zip up his backpack, after he did he grabbed some weapons and ammo, he had a shotgun on his back and an assault rifle in his hand, he also had a knife and handgun in his pockets, both in opposite pockets with his phone.

He was noticeably struggling with the weight as he appeared to be hunched over like the equipment weighed him down, but he was able to tolerate it and get to the door, he started to ready his weapons by loading them and switching the safety off, he cocked his weapons and turned around to face Santos.

"The worst part about this is that I don't have a permit for any of these weapons."

Santos looked at him with an eyebrow raised.
"Oh no, bombs are falling and mutants are everywhere, tge whole world is flooding with radiation that could disfigure and possibly kill us,but that's NOTHING compared to Darwin's lack of a weapon permit." Said Santos with a noticeable tone of sarcasm in his voice.

Darwin and Santos looked at each other for a brief moment and they both started to laugh, a little comic relief was what Darwin needed.

Darwin eventually stopped Laughing and looked towards Sailor and Rays direction.
"Thanks for the help Sailor, without you I would have been trying to find how to use it for the whole time we were here!" Darwin chuckled.
"Ray, you done yet? Im waiting for you to get ready so we can scavenge for supplies!"

Darwin stood there waiting, but then he quickly turned his head to Blue
"Seriously though, do you have a second bulletproof vest? You know Ray will need one."

Santos looked at Sailor, he decided to fight his shyness by getting up and walking to her, he stuck out his large, scaly hand and waited for her to shake it.

His large, beady eyes looked up at her, he began to introduce himself.

"Hey, my name's Santos, I'm 17, I believe I've seen you at my school before, how are you?"

"As a matter of fact, I have three in the closet there," said Blue as he raised a shaky finger to another heavy door. "Don't know if they'll fit or not, but you can give them a try. And as for letting people in, you can trust my judgement. I'm a paranoid old man, remember? Heheh." He chuckled. "If you're going out now, I wish you boys the best of luck. Please come back in once piece?"

Darwin walked over to the closet and opened it, he saw a bulletproof vest hanging on the bar, he took it off and threw one at Rays direction, landing right in front of his feet.

Darwin thanked Blue for wishing him safety.

"Santos!" Santos quickly turned around from Sailors direction and faced Darwin "I'm talking to the lady! Come one dude!" Darwin walked over to Santos in an aggressive manner, he firmly placed his paws on his scaly shoulders and looked him straight in the eye through his gas mask.

"You protect these people with everything you have, got it? Blues is 76, he can't defend himself forever, and Sailor isn't even 16 yet, she barely knows how to defend herself, wellaybe she knows martial arts I don't know, but for all I know she's defenseless and vulnerable. If someone tries try to break in and if they oberpower Blue, you take this and shoot them down, you know how to use a Magnum right?"

Santos looked up at Darwin "of course! I've had tons of practice shooting with my dad before, but I'm 17, I'm a bit too young to use these things."

Darwin was looking at him in disapproval through his gas mask.
"I don't have a permit"
Santos remembered and started to chuckle about what he said earlier, Darwin handed him the Magnum, and Santos swore he would try his best to help gaurd the place.
"It's just like a pellet gun, expect its way more powerful and this isn't practice."
Darwin threw him some ammunition and told him how to load the gun, he told him to turn the safety off and he did, he immediately aimed at the ground so he wouldn't shoot some one in the face accidentally.
"Those things can blow holes clean through your head, no joke, they are powerful things, turn the safety back on so you don't kill someone, I just taught you how to use a Magnum correctly, if someone gets in and tries to kill you, you turn off the safety, aim and pull the trigger, it's that simple."
Santos nodded and looked at the gun, it's large size made it a bit heavy in his hand, however he admired it's shinyness, it was one of the silver magnums that were expensive.
Santos turned on the safety and hid the weapon in his backpocket.
"Don't die on me Darwin, your the only friend who I can trust out here"
"Don't worry, I'll be fine, and uh....... We'll try to look for your parents OK?"
Santos nodded.
Darwin walked to the safe house's door and waited for Ray to get ready, in the mean time Santos turned around and kept on talking to Sailor.

"I'm the guy that does the announcements every 4th period? You know me right?" Santos hoped she knew, he went to the same high school she did and was tired of not being recognized as one of the schools announcers. He patiently waited for Sailor to reply.

Ray scooped up the vest, and threw it on. As he approached the door, he turned to Darwin and spoke softly. "I hope that you remember me as I am in here, and not out there." He slipped his mask back on, and quickly stepped outside. The purple raccoon now had a different air about him, one of absolute determination and abject ruthlessness. Ray started towards the destroyed town, leaving Santos and Darwin to catch up.

"Oh God, yes, I do now! Oh Jesus, sorry!" It struck her when he mentioned that they had gone to the same school. She recalled seeing him around a couple of times before- then again, there were loads of students at their school, and she generally only took the time to know those in her classes. She took his hand and shook it quickly, nervously looking to the side. "Hah, you could say I'm doing good. The apocalypse started and my family were killed this morning, but apart from that, I'm doing fine!" She knew she sounded sarcastic, but at the moment, she genuinely didn't feel all too bad. The 'get up and get over it approach' seemed to be already working, and she knew the key to success was to keep up good spirits. That's what they recommended when lost in the wild. Although this was a totally different situation, it wasn't that different, right?

Santos saw how nervous she was, but was glad she recognized him from the school.

He heard her talk about her dead family. Santos was extremely empathetic, he put himself in her shoes, imagining his loved ones killed and could never interact with them again, the thought made him cry, he started to whimper lightly for a few seconds while crying, bit then quickly stopped.

He looked at blue, queitly watching the door for intruders, he could see him have trouble staying awake, but he knew a tough man like him could stay awake.

"Wanna see something cool?" Santos said as he wiped off his eyes, he crouched with his arms bent behind his back, and jumped to the ceiling, he stuck to it and started to scurry around like an actual lizard.
"It's the many things lizards can do!" He said, he wanted to impress sailor as he thought he wasn't really good enough for anyone.

Santos thought about Darwin as he was running on the ceiling, he was worried about him and hoped he would come back safe.

Blue pulled an energy bar from his breastpocket and tugged at the gooey block until he got a piece to break off. He may have been old, but his teeth were still good. He chewed vigorously, expecting a gradual wave of energy not too long after. He turned at the sound of Santos speaking to find him clung to the ceiling.

"Don't start getting weird on me, sonny," he said between chews. "Though, I must admit that is quite the talent you have there. Say, are either of you music lovers like myself?" He asked Santos and Sailor.

Santos "well, I like instrumental music, but in like a dramatic battle/war kind of instrumental, I also like techno and rap".

"Also I'll get weird if I want to, I'm my own person OK?"
Santos said defensively.

He noticed the energy bar blue was holding.
"Hey do you have any other energy bars? I haven't eaten anything today, I'm starving."

Darwin and Ray were walking slowly, trying their best to not make any sound to allure other raiders, he could hear his loud, filtered breathing through his gas mask. He looked at Ray, he was ready and alert, probably ready to shoot down literally anything that came at him, Darwin looked around for any shopping places,  food was the first thing they needed.

He looked around at the place, everything was much worse than in the morning, there were cracks in almost every wall and corner he saw, there were dead bodies at least every 5 meters of ground he covered, cars were now not only flipped, but had parts destroyed, stolen, or on fire, people obviously did not react well to the crisis, there were also tons of building barricaded or locked, windows were shut and cracked, with tons of graffiti writing on the walls and doors of the buildings, saying things like "KEEP OUT, SAVE YOURSELF, DONT TRUST ANYBODY." And other phrases similar were written as well.

The place was also flooded with much more radiation, so much that Darwin had trouble seeing through it, it was like a yellowish green smoke.

He could feel dust particles brushing against his skin, he didn't know this was even possible, he ignored it and kept on walking with Ray.

He saw a market ahead, most of the letters of its title were stolen or fell down, and the front doors were locked up and boarded, but besides that it looked like it withstood the fallout pretty good.

Darwin shook Rays shoulder and pointed to the market ahead of them, signaling that they should go there.

The white fox turned to the purple racoon.

"There's food in there, if we find any tools or ammo, you take it, but food is our first priority, food and water, don't forget to look for water as well."

"It's boarded and locked up, we could go to the roof and enter through the ventilation shaft, but how do we get up there?" Darwin asked Ray if he had any suggestions or ideas, but they kept on moving, as they could not waste any time.

"It's got nothing to do with personality, friend. Ah!" Blue grunted as he got to his feet and found his balance.

"There's a lot of strange things happening out there. We have to keep an eye on each other. You saw some of the creatures while you were out there? Well... that could happen to any of us. Don't know what causes it. We start acting strange, it could be a sign that we're being affected. I don't mean to scare you by telling you this, but it's the world we're living in now."

He shuffled down the hall out of sight, and a loud squeaking sound could be heard before a loud crash and a curse in a different language. Mumbling and then another loud squeak and more shuffling. Blue could be seen around the corner now, carrying an old wind-up gramophone with a few records under his arms.

"Now about that music. It may not be the best, but even old music can make your heart dance." He kicked out a stool from beneath a table against the wall and sat the gramophone down on it. He clung to the records with his left paw and started to turn the crank with his right.

When it was wound up, he shuffled through the few albums he'd grabbed. "Ahh, let's see now. We got, erm... Jimi Hendrix... Johnny Cash... Pink Floyd... Rolling Stones... Orrr... The Who. Sorry, I dropped The Beatles and Elvis back there."

"I guess your right, any kind of music can make you happy, hey is Johnny Cash any good? He sounds interesting." Said Santos, he heard his dad talk about Johnny Cash occasionally but never actually heard his songs, so he wanted to hear them.

Sailor found herself laughing as Santos climbed up the walls. In all her life, she couldn't say that she had ever seen someone climb across the ceiling, and no matter how outlandish it sounded, she told herself that they were living in the apocalypse now, and anything was possible.

Pure logic.

"I like music," she replied to Blue. "I'm into basically everything. Old and new. But I like folk quite a bit." And when he came back holding a gramophone, she smiled again. She had heard of most of the artists he listed, which was a comfort.

Blue smiled at Santos' mentioning of Johnny Cash. "Ahh, Mr. Cash. A role model of mine. He's a respectable man. Passed now, but he still lives through his music."

He set down the other records and slid out the aforementioned one from its sleeve. He set the record on the turntable and lowered the needle, making the room fill with a gravelly static before a folk song began belting from the gramophone. Blue smiles as he walks back over to his chair beside the door. He picks up his shotgun and lays it over both the arms of his rocker and began to hum the familiar tune.

"hey that's pretty catchy! I can see why my dad liked him." Said Santos, he dropped from the ceiling and landed in his feet, he wiped off the dust and particles from his clothes, and sat down next to the gramaphone, he enjoyed it's catchy and unique tune. He turned his head to Blue and Sailor.

"Do you guys think Darwin and Ray are alright?" Asked Santos, he was worried about them, and thought about them for the most part of the time they were there.

"Me too," Sailor chipped in after Blue had finished speaking, her gaze instinctivly heading towards the door. The thought of losing two people she had just met already would make her feel even worse than she was already, so prayed to nothing in particular that they would come back soon. She hated playing the waiting game, and when it had people's lives on the line, it made it even worse. She hummed quitely along to the song in order to distract herself, picking up on the tune quickly. Before long, she started singing it to herself quietly, determined to blank out her mind. Thinking about death was not a good option here. Avoiding it at all costs was the best she could do for now.

In the distance near the place Blue, Sailor and Santos were in. A loud truck could be heard. It stopped somewhat close to them, soldiers jumped out from the back of the truck. Their uniforms (https://i.ytimg.com/vi/zI8pP9W5QL0/maxresdefault.jpg) looked Russian, one of them was screaming, "Получите полную победу! Убейте любого, кого Вы находите!" The soldiers are nodded and began searching the area. Whatever they were. They weren't soldiers from Russia... Mercenaries maybe..

Blue perked up as he heard a sound that triggered his inner soldier. He jumped to his feet with as much vigor as a child and pumped the old shotty and rotated the thick slab of metal that was covering the door's porthole, and he peered through the tiny peephole. His jaw fell slack, and his tail frizzed up.

Without turning away, he growled, "You young'uns grab your weapon of choice o'er here. I smell trouble. And don't tell me you can't shoot either. Our lives may depend on it, now. Just always point the hollow end at something you want to kill, pull the trigger, and expect a bang."

"But not yet," he added, still watching through the peephole. "Wait 'til I give you the 'okay' to fire. Meanwhile: Sailor, grab a couple flashlights, stay quiet, and breathe easy. Santos, hit the override power switch there on the wall, then join Sailor."

He gripped his gun tightly and murmured under his breath, "Damn Russians...."

Upon hearing the vehicle and shouting outside, Sailor was immediately on edge again- just after she was settling down as well. Panic written over her face, she looked up at Blue and listened to his instructions, before getting up and following them as quickly as she could. Whoever was out there, they weren't friendly. Even if she couldn't understand what the hell they were saying, they obviously weren't here to make peace. In fact, it seemed to be quite the opposite.

She trotted quietly back over to the self where she had got her torch from earlier and grabbed three, just to be safe. She swallowed and walked back over slowly, focusing in on her breathing. They may have guns, she thought to herself, petrified. They could have bombs. They want to kill us. I don't wanna kill anyone. I can't... She found herself licking her lips repeatedly, and her hands shaking. Maybe it wasn't so safe here after all. Even if they were living in an apocalypse at the moment, she had made herself believe that they would live through it in this very bunker. But now it struck her that her logic was flawed- the apocalypse is the end of the world. There will be no getting out of it. And now, she was faced with possibly having to shoot someone. 3 days away from being 16 and she may have already become a murderer. She stifled back a loud sob, then instantly closed her mouth and screwed her eyes shut. She was panicking. There was no need to panic. Blue would sort it out. And it'll be all over in a bit.

Santos quickly jolted his head towards the doors direction, he quickly latched on to the ceiling again.

He whispered to them while pulling out his Magnum with a free hand.

"Shhh, as long as they don't look up they can't see me."

Santos whispered.

He turned off the saftey by pressing the back of the gun with his ceiling, then he aimed at the door, still grasping to the ceiling.

He didn't think anyone would actually be here, he thought everyone was dead, Santos never expected any trouble, however he was only being himself, Santos never expected the unexpected, he never really thought about possibilities, however he did now, and as long as he stood on the ceiling, be could unleash an ambush on the enemey or sneak behind them and snap their neck unnoticed, or something sneaky, but his life was depending on it now.

He squinted his large round eyes down the center of the Magnum, getting his aim perfect, he steadied as his arm was starting to tire, he set it down for a moment to rest then aimed again, the gun was loaded and ready to fire, he just hoped he would make the shot and not svrew it up.
