Title: Queen
Post by: Ventus Fall on January 16, 2017, 03:50:53 PM
This thread is talking about Queen and their music :)

What's your favourite piece they played?
And if you're currently listening to one of their songs, what is it called?

I'm now listening to Killer Queen :P

Mother Love,
it's such an emotional song knowing that freddie died in that song.
The lyrics say us what he wanted and what he never got, in the end he never wanted to be the big superstar but he wanted to be loved and held close by someone who can give him the needed love.

Such a great song

It's true, he knew he was dying when he was making this song with his fellow band members. Did you also know Brian May sang the rest of the music to finish the song?
It's somewhere I believe just past the mindpoint. It's hard to notice it, as he (I think) tried to make it sound like Mercury as much as possible.

It's after the instrumental break.
That is what makes it also so cynical, the text that mattered the most for Freddy is the text he never had the chance to sing.
It's also impressive how a dying man can sing such a beautiful song

Indeed, but I'm glad the song he wanted to finish still got finished. Maybe not by himself, but I would like to think he would be happy with how they finished the song for him.

As of which, I've been listening now to Bicycle Race :D

The video clip made for Mother Love also fits the song well.

Scandal, which is according to me, one of the biggest middle finger freddie has ever made to the media

I'm probably going to get lynched for saying this but, in my honest opinion: bohemian rhapsody is way too much overrated

Well Bricket I don't think you are right :p I may be biased but I believe that Bohemian Rhapsody is a very good song. It has both good music, vocals and lyrics something most of the songs that come out lately lack...

But I can kinda see where you coming from. Of course Queen is not JUST only this song.. I like Queen as a whole but you see this song has a special place in my heart since it was the song that kinda made me get hooked to them :p

I like it because its experimental. It is very popular but I don't say its overrated

I may be biased
My favorite song is Bohemian Rhapsody ^_^
I don't see why you would be biased  :P
But to be fair, most of my favourite songs from Queen are from the era between 1988-1991

March of the Black Queen.  Queen II is probably my favourite album.

I'm currently listening to a playlist I made of 51 Queen songs which tries to tell a story.  An epic story of the gods playing with the lives of mortals where a demi-god tragically falls in love with a god, set against the backdrop of a war between good and evil.

It seems clear to me but would probably seem pretty tenuous to others XD

I love Bohemian Rhapsody and I think it is a masterpiece, but not so much better than their other work that it is in a class of its own.  So I would probably wouldn't use the term overrated due to the connotation more than the denotation. It just looms larger in popular culture because of its use in Wayne's World and subsequent re-release as a single.

Either "good old fashioned lover boy" or "all dead"
