The site sometimes takes an unbelievable amount to load. Has it been always like this? I am new here so this is a bit weird for me. I am using google chrome the latest version and I am using a Mac on macOS Sierra (10.12)..
Lumix told me that this site has some issues with DDOS attacks from time to time.. I was wondering if we can install like an anti DDOS protection.. I've seen them in the sites I usually watch anime like kissanime and gogoanime. Before you access the site you pretty much have to wait around 3-5 seconds and they kinda monitor the traffic to be sure if they come from a bot or an actual human.
If DDOS attacks are the problem then I think that installing such protections systems would be greatly beneficial, making the site run faster.
If DDOS attacks are not an issue, pleas someone help me to fix this :p because the site sometimes is so unresponsive it ruins the experience :/

We have anti-DDoS protection and a very good one at that! Our DDoS protection went offline once and within 20 seconds the site was down.
What pages do you load primarily that create the lag? Or is it just any page?

Mainly I load the home page, the forum, profile and my messages. But to be honest I am experiencing this through out the forum. Maybe it has to do with my current location? Like I am in Greece so I am guessing if the servers are somewhere in the US this interferes too? The site tends sometimes to lag at random.. Like you just go to the home page and you wait for ages and ages to load..

The home page is infamous for loading slower than the rest of the forums for I think everyone, unfortunately.
As for the location in the US, it could be part of the explanation, but I'm also from Europe, and the rest of the forums (if there aren't any other issues) run very fast and quite fine for me.

Ventus Greece is kinda infamous for the slow internet :p (7mgbps down, 0.8mgbps upload).. But even when I use 4G from my phone the site still loads slow :/ . Sometimes I wanted to post something on a board and was waiting for the site to load for ages to the point where 2 other people posted before me :/ . It really kinda ruins a bit the experience... And when the forum takes ages to load other websites like YouTube, Google Drive , Gmail etc.. or even programs like Spotify and Skype seem to be unaffected.. So I am guessing it can't be something faulty from my setup :/ . I mean I can stream 720p 60 fps on YouTube.. it's a bit strange that this forum kinda lags :/

Ah, apologies, I didn't know Greece was famous/infamous for slow internet ^^;
The forums are sometimes slower certain times than other times. So it indeed doesn't have to be your side in whatever form (be it because you're in Greece or because you internet company is having issues or whatever the case).
What PC and type of phone are you using? I figured to ask, maybe that can give some extra information.

About my phone I use an iPhone 6s on iOS 10.0.1 (non jailbroken obviously) and I've tried both Safari loading the forum (which kinda lags) and Tapatalk app which seems to be a bit better but its kinda messy and confusing :/

But it's good to know that extra information... Hmm. I feel so useless in helping now D:
For Tapatalk: I personally don't use it (nor am I able to as far as I'm aware of), although I can imagine the problems you speak of ^^'
However, if you have any suggestions to make Tapatalk less messy and confusing, be sure to put that in the Suggestions board :D We'd like to hear anything that might improve the forums.

I'm going to try and replace the current home page / portal with a newer, supported and faster one. I'll attempt to find some time tomorrow to do so, there may be some issues during the changeover.

This has been replaced, things should start to speed up.
