Title: Rather be blind or deaf?
Post by: Ventus Fall on January 09, 2017, 07:41:00 PM
Simple question, but a good brain-cracker: Would you rather be deaf or blind, and why?

Please fill in the poll as well as posting a reply here to explain why you chose that option :)

I like to draw and watch random crap online so i think I could get used to reading subtitles much faster than finding a whole new life away from my drawing

Idk why but I rely a lot on my eye vision :p . It would be extremely hard to live without being able to see :p

Darnit, Timmy! XD
I don't know how to even respond to that. But seriously, what would you choose if one had to go? :P

Well, let's see if we put it this way:
Would you rather hear music/sounds, or see drawings/paintings?

Deaf, every time.

A deaf Person can read subtitles, descriptions, and sound effects. A blind person can not "hear" pictures. No matter how hard they try.

If possible I would go mute so I could have both.

if I had to pick than deaf, I still really a lot on vision, especially when having fun here on TFF and Skype

having a disorder that gradually makes your right eye blind I prefer the loss of hearing

Is much as I love music, art is my life, so it's no question for me. I'd much rather be deaf. Plus, I could still drive to work, do my job, use the internet, and watch movies (with subtitles, of course), without too much difficulty. Not so if I couldn't see.

I have a vision disorder which means I have bad vision, am basically blind in my right eye and the vision is only partially correctable, even with glasses I still only have about 50% of the vision of a normal person, not enough to get a drivers license in my country (but enough in the US cause the requirements are laxer).

When I was little someone asked this question and it generally upset me that everyone also chose to be deaf, rather than blind, I dunno but it made me, as a person, feel like I was more "broken" than anyone wanted.

So I just wanted to take this post and assure those who do have vision impairments that no one here means that you're more broken, or have more of a disability. In a way it means we are impressed by how well you are able to cope in a society that is so dictated and reliant on vision, and even though your vision may be going or may even be gone, you still make it in this world and for that you are amazing.

And for those with hearing impairments I want to assure you we aren't trivializing your issue, hearing impairments are terrible and a lot of people would probably be surprised about how often our society relies on hearing. You are still amazing for coping with something you lost, that most of us really take for granted. So you're amazing too!

Wise words, Anoni. I definitely didn't mean to imply that anyone was lesser for their vision or hearing impairment, and I apologize if I came across that way.

Sorry to hear about that Bricket and Anoni.
I do hope you don't take this question as something bad? I'm just genuinely curious and didn't mean to upset anyone who had a disability.

I'd rather be deaf so I can still function normally, no need for a cane or a guide dog. I would also be more able to defend myself. I mean there are blind people who can defend themselves relying mainly on their hearing capability, but that's some next level ninja shit.
Also being blind means no movies, no games and no internet. That would suck.

It is a brain cracker because I'm kind of lazy and blindness would probably lead to early retirement. I'd be like "I'm blind! YESSS!".

I'd rather be blind. I believe in trust and touch a lot. I always felt like beauty is an inside thing for me. I don't feel the need to see something to know the nature of it. Someone who grows up blind can still imagine and define happiness without knowing what it looks like.Well, thats what I think..

But being deth can't stop you from seeing the feelings portrayed through voice because the way you see someone act in love is a beautiful thing. You would still see physical feeling.
