Title: Good morning, gentlefurs and ladies!
Post by: Darkerius on December 30, 2016, 10:30:38 AM
I'm pretty much new to the website. It would be a pleasure to meet you all! It's intriguing to see that the RP section is alive and kicking, as I would like to express myself through several RP ideas I have in the near future.

A little bit about myself: I'm 15, turning 16 in March. I adore anthropomorphic animals although I wouldn't call myself a furry. I don't fancy that label due to it being merely a word. I don't see how it's necessary to label myself a "furry", since it doesn't minimize or affect my experience of the fandom. Speaking of the fandom, it's great! I sincerely love every aspect of it, ranging from art to roleplay.

I find the English language to be particularly attractive, especially British English. I'm certainly not a linguist, though. I hope that excessive roleplay with you guys and girls will help my vocabulary and grammar improve drastically.

I'm not very social in real life. Anxiety and depression are oftentimes hindering my efforts and optimism. I'm learning how to deal with it.

If you want to know more about me, drop me a PM or ask me right here! Don't be afraid to ask. I may have forgotten a lot of what I originally thought of presenting here. It's a real pain having to write this on my mobile phone... I would use to computer, although I wouldn't want my family to find out what I'm doing here Ha-Ha! In addition to that, it's almost always occupied by either my older or younger brother. So, yeah.

Welcome to the forums (and the fandom), Darkerius :D

What kind of RP would you most enjoy? (Theme, setting, etc.)

As of which, there isn't anything to be ashamed about being on the furry forums, or being a furry :P
It's simply "enjoying artwork of anthropomorphic animals". (Noticed how many cartoons have main characters being animals? :))

Hola  :3
First things first-
This is terrifying.
I'm 15.
And my birthday is also in March  :o
Coincidence, I think not.

Anyway, welcome to both the fandom and TFF  ^_^ I'm sure you will love it here, as much as I have grown to (I'm pretty new, so I know how you feel  ;) )

If you wanna roleplay, then I'm always here! I'm up to basically anything, and if there's any plots you want to do, or have a certain genre that you like, I'm sure we can work something out  :3

Anyway, a big welcome from me, and hope to see you around soon! <3

(I know how you feel about writing on mobiles and such. I only come on here on my Kindle Fire and DANG it's horrible ;;)

Welcome buddy!

I'm an RP enthusiast as well. It'll be nice seeing a new face amongst us RP 'veterans' so to speak. Relatively speaking, I'm not really that old here either though.

I'd recommend checking out the 'Rants and Advice' section of the forums for help with your depression and anxiety. I liked to spend a bit of time there when I was being dragged down by negativity and stress.

Just saying, I'm 16 turning 17. With my bday being the 1st of March.

I hope you enjoy your time here, and can't wait to RP with you soon  :D

It's a pleasure to have met you, fellow 15-year-old! My birthday is on 25 of March. You? Don't say that we were born on the very same day XD , now that would be terrifying!

Coincidence? Maybe you and I are destined to be great buddies  XD

I prefer serious RP's and am absolutely disinterested when it comes to "cute/silly" RP's. My by far favourite theme/setting is human vs furry. Self-explanatory. That includes warfare, and romance, sci-fi, fantasy (one of my favourites, along with sci-fi) and recently - secret government lab testing/experiments with a lot of sci-fi mixed into it along with some post-great war / post-apocalyptic elements. I'm planning to start an RP very soon in which I'd RP the facility staff (humans) while the test subjects will be RP'd by other participants. Numerous tests, experiments and choices aimed towards obliterating rationality, compassion and decency... May or may not include security breaches and the eventual escape of the test subjects... It's still just a plan, but a one I genuinely wish to implement. How I try to view it, the RP won't be scripted and already decided in the beginning. Thus leaving the participants with an arsenal of choices which can and will affect the course of the story. Sounds more fun that way.

Is there an OOC section where I'm able to talk about the plans of my RP's? Is anyone interested?

Thanks for the warm welcome! I'm sure that we will become great friends! I wouldn't assume myself as an RP enthusiast yet, but I am attracted by the idea of it.

Why yes, we do have a Serious RP board, and yes, it has an OOC board to go with it :D
Here you go:

Personally, I find the RPs on the serious board to be difficult to reach, mostly because of time-zone differences. However, don't let your disliking of "cute/silly" RPs deter you from the Fun RP section. We definitely have a range of different RPs, ranging from chill-outs to allow your OC to familiarize themselves with others as well as test out new aspects of your OC, to seriously dark and morally challenging ones.

I'm not particularly fond of owning an OC/fursona and doing everything with just that one character. Instead, I prefer to create characters that will only be present in the RP I'm focused on in that moment, and nowhere else.

"Seriously dark and morally challenging ones"

Something tells me that my RP fits flawlessly into that category. It's also important to note that I'm unsure as to whether the community is going to like such a dark theme or not.

Thanks for the info. I appreciate that ;)

No it's not. I hope you like math, because this involves chance.

There are over 7 billion people on this planet. A normal year has 365 days, but once every 4 years there is an extra day. However, if the year can be divided by 100 that extra day is dropped and if the year can be divided by 400 the drop of that day doesn't take place, thus it still has that extra day. This means the last drop of that day happened 116 years ago, but people rarely reach that age. So that means that bit of information is useless and we can work with an average of 365.25 days a year. If you got that, we can go over to the second part.

Since you're born in March, you weren't born on that extra day. This means we can calculate the number of birthdays on one day as is. Take the over seven billion and divide it by 365.25 and you'll see that there would be over 19.1 million people with the same day of birth, given that each day would have an equal number of births and not taking the effect of daylight savings time into the equation.

Now to look at the age. Very young people can't make an account here and probably have a very slim chance of finding this website, and older people often don't use internet that much either. This makes it very hard to guess how big the chance was your day of birth would be either the same or one day apart, so let's leave that out.

So if you met someone on this site with the same age as you, there would be a chance of 3/365.25 that that person being born on the same day or it being only one day off. That's a chance of about 0.82% for one random person of the same age. Admitted, it's not very likely, but definitely possible. Besides, if the group of people that are the same age gets bigger, the chance of finding one (or more!) people with the same birthday goes up.

tl;dr: Read paragraph above. Thanks for coming to the forum btw, it was a long time ago since I had this much fun with maths. :P
