So the title might not be clear enough, but basically the question is:
Which fursona are you not, but that you have contemplated/thought about?
Some sub-questions to possible also add to the conversation with:
- Why did you not choose that creature as your (main) fursona?
- Why did not you take it as a second/third/etc. fursona?
You can ask and answer many other questions as well on this topic, but the main focus being 'why not that as your fursona'?

At first I thought in being a white tiger, but didn't feel completely ok with it no matter what, I just don't feel completely as a feline, still I really like them by a lot in different ways ~
At least that have been the only one I really considerated, (thanks to a char in a defense game), and then when I just began in the fandom thought in lot of other animals, mainly sharks, crocs (my favorite ones), but at the end I choosed a snake because lots of reasons that I dont want to write right now because I'm lazy (?

When I was younger I used to always make fursona characters that were very cat based but when I got older and had had a cat living in my house for as many years as I did, I learned I freaking hate cats- most the time (no offense to car furries). I also considered a wolf but I'm not that active nor am i strong and noble like a wolf is. The only other animal I considered before reaching my destined reptile was an octopus because I am fascinated by them and just love the creature but simply wasn't connected to them as much as i wanted to be. Once I reached my loved reptiles I knew Leopard gecko was just the perfect fit for me.
In the future maybe i will have multiple fursona's but for now Fable's enough for me.
Ventus do you have some that you considered before making your choice?

I used to be a dragon, but it stirred up... negative memories. Truth is, all my fursonas are based on characters in my stories. But the story the dragon belonged to turned out to be a great mistake. So. I got rid of both the story and the dragon related. I guess in this case it's what fursona I'm not anymore. But theoretically it falls under the main question.

My character has changed a fair bit over time. Originally I created him as a wolf, but that didn't really fit; then he was a fox-wolf hybrid (a folf), then a fox for a while. I got a bit 'meh' about that over the years, and it was a bit boring and generic too; I changed lately over this year to a horse (a pegasus, in particular), because I've always loved horses and felt a strong attachment to other equine characters I've created as side-characters in stories I've written, and also because of my big interest in MLP.
Since then I've had a really fun time drawing and writing about my character as an equine, and it feels like a great fit for me too.

I know I probably mentioned it in my introduction thread, but I've always had trouble viewing my self as one of my characters.
Even as a child I had this outsider mentality. I'd look into the lives of fictional characters, but never felt interested in joining in myself. Its like... I enjoy spectating sports more then actually playing.
Which is why I'm reluctant to refer to a character as a persona for me, I can't seem put myself in any position besides "creator" "Author" "Watcher" "Spectator" or what have you. It doesn't mean however that I view characters that I create like toys to play with, or like a show to watch, because I am personally involved. They do matter deeply to me. But, To channel them into myself feels unnatural to me. They are their own selves, and I am different from them.
Eh, I still suck at explaining it

The only Fursona that I am is Robert Silvermyst. All of my other characters are made for purely RP purposes, and only for one of my Star Fox OCs, Marcus Caroso, did I have any art made for. All of my other art is about my fursona. Marcus is a bit of a free-spirited cerinian fox/panther hybrid that is a little less vain than his father and has the telepath powers of his mother. Arthur Chesnaught is a bit closer to me, yet not my fursona.

Naake ni is, and probably will be, my only fursona...
Why I picked the wolf? I didn't, he picked me. When I slip into character, or better, let Naake run, it's all done from his point of view, his thoughts, etc. If I ever get stuck about how he would do something I just ask him...
Gotta love being a Therion/twin spirit

So far all awesome responses, it's interesting to hear what animals/creatures weren't chosen and as to why.
Ventus do you have some that you considered before making your choice?
Oh yes, many XD
I mean, Ventus was a pretty quick choice, I should say. DRAGONS. But I do have a couple of other fursonas, yet there are some creatures I was thinking about and never got to.
-Bilturong
-Tapir
-Elephant
-Monkey
-Bear
-Chincilla
-Gerbil
(Even a rabbit until recently too :P)
And more.
All their own reasons too. Mostly because I think they would be cool as fursonas, but I have no further connection to them. Or I would, but feel it wouldn't fit me.

When I was very little I would always imagine myself as a wolf. Later on, when I discovered the furry fandom I was already invested in another fandom, so I didn't feel the need for a fursona. After taking a break from the internet for a couple months, (stepping out to see what I was missing all day glued to my computer and just avoiding drama) I found out a lot about myself. I realized that a wolf didn't necessarily reflect me. I thought of choosing a dragon, a dog, a cat, a rabbit; I even considered something like a sergal at one point!
I decided on the species I did because I share a lot of traits with badgers, notably a deal of intellect countered by clumsiness, and a tendency to hold in emotions until provoked. I chose an ancient, extinct variant of badger, because I still have a lot more to learn about myself. Maybe sometime in the future my fursona will change, but for now, Fulvius Andrzej will continue representing me in this virtual world.

My very first fursona ideas where always cats, then later wolves, and then eventually a fox (who then became a deer, then back to a fox.).
Only a couple years ago I chose a kitsune fursona, but then as always, I changed her. In fact I changed her up so much and she eventually became the dragon I know and love, Jiafene! The eastern dragon that's stolen my heart and will forever be me!
I'm not entirely sure why I didn't want the previous fursona ideas. I guess they just didn't feel right.
She may not share many traits as me, she is more so an interpretation of who I want to be.

My first idea was a cheetah named KatyuĆĄco, whom I used to try furry RP in my early days, and as a diversion from MLP based characters. However, despite my love for wild felines, he did not stick well.
Later I got into an RP with a ewe named Elize. I was quite pleased with her, but she did not feel entirely fit as my fursona. However, she was in the RP alongside another project, the one I finally settled on.

I've had multiple fursonas over the years, but my current one is based off the one I used in 2011 (though that was before I knew that furries and fursonas were a thing but whatever). Before that, well, I don't think the thing I made in grade 5 really counts (it was some weird fluffball dog that had the same name as me?) So I guess Alley was technically my first fursona. Other ones included a stupid Sonic Knuckles rip-off fox named Slashes that I hate, or Dakota the Dog or whatever. There was one character I made that was just sort of a combination of random creatures and it had four arms, but I only really made it as a joke. Then there was the river otter. But I hate that one because of bad memories.
Other characters that I've used like a fursona I don't count as actual fursonas (like Nyro) because they are more like story characters.

I have had a few fursonas over time. Halei is the only one that has stuck. I have always been into hybrids though; I don't think I have ever had a fursona at any point that was strictly one species. I think, very early on, in the ancient days of yore when I was a teenager, my first fursona was some combination of feline and kangaroo. To be fair, maybe I should have kept it as a secondary since that isn't a combination you see very often!
I was drifting in and out of the fandom for a long time, mostly for my own weird reasons. My fursonas changed over time as well. They were always hybrids, and in most cases the dominant species of these hybrids was feline, usually white in coloration. I think later on I started adding some elf into the mix, because elves are awesome and should totally be involved with anything, and also because I am a walking wikipedia for Tolkien stuff. Then I had another of my absences from the fandom for a few years. All of this time I never found a fursona that really spoke to me all that well.
Then, when I was writing some stuff, there was a flash of lightning and a chorus of angels sang immaculate tunes, and Halei-Helai busted into my brain like the Kool-Aid man and I have stuck with her ever since.

I've had RP characters, and fandom characters, but none really ever became "me." Close, but still just a game character, not me.
The closest I came before I developed Pyr was an old cheetah 'sona I used for many years. Some still know me as her. But as I went on, and fell from the fandom for a while, I felt much more disconnected from her. I loved my cheetah- Nakari- but she wasn't a good fit. So I started over and developed Pyr, who serves more as a personal avatar than anything.
So yeah, that's the short story of why I'm not a cheetah anymore.
Though I still love cheetahs, don't get me wrong. ^_^

I wanted a fursona species that represents me as a person and kinda reflects on my personality.
So my first choice was a cat since I really really hate water :p . But I thought this wasn't really myself so..
My second thought was an otter (ironic I know) but I find otters cute ^__^ . But I wanted my main sona to be myself so I scrapped that idea too :p
So I decided to be a wolf because I am kinda a lonely person.. So I thought I am that one wolf howling in the moonlight by himself :p
That's is ;p
