Title: Give me stuff to draw! (Trades+Requests Open)
Post by: Anteloper on November 02, 2016, 01:51:36 PM
 :D Heya! I have been lurking for a bit now and thought I should finally post something and make myself known. Y'all seem nice here, so I would like to try an art request thread right away.

(http://i1342.photobucket.com/albums/o766/kibex/drag/plaguedragon151203on.jpg)

You see, I Love drawing all manners of creatures, be they dragons, gryphons, sea monsters, pokémon, aliens - whatever, so long as it's "a bit different". However, first thing in the morning I am often fresh out of ideas to draw. So here's where you, the viewer, come in.

If you have any creature characters, please share them here and I might just try sketching them for my daily warm-up. You would really be doing me a favour if you did, as it helps kickstart my drawing brain. heh.

***
Just some things I would like to point out -
One is that I am very slow and nervous, so it may take me a while to finally get something posted. Also there is no guarantee I will be inspired right away, either. : /  That is how drawing works sometimes, but I will give it a shot. I usually do headshots.

Also also, If you want a more specific picture-request that I will for sure draw, I may consider a trade. Those are fun.

And last but not least - You get bonus points for ungulate-looking characters! (It may come as no surprise that I am particularly fond of horses and antelope.)

***
So without further ado, please start posting your reference sheets for me. (I really like some of your characters I have seen on the forum so far.)

When you post, I ask that you also include some prompts for inspiration, as it is very helpful to me. Prompts can be something like an activity, expression or item you would like to see. Favourite colour, environment... Stuff like that. (For example, "angry about burning food on the stove" would be a funny prompt.) (I hope that was worded good enough. I am very tired as I type this and may have to rewrite everything later. pft.)

Oh right! Before I forget, here are some drawing examples. I don't have many sketches scanned, alas. But you get the idea.

(http://i1342.photobucket.com/albums/o766/kibex/cret/creaturexample0608sm.jpg)

Okay, NOW without further ado, get posting!
Thanks! I look forward to hearing from you -

(PS. is there any other forum colour besides this white on black? its very hard on my eyes, which is maybe why I couldnt find a colour option to begin with...) wrar

Oohh I would love to fill up this page with my ideas, but I'll keep it nice and simple for now.

So what I would like for you to draw as of practice. Would be a final fantasy party. ((Is the oringal. Black mage, white mage,warrior, and theft.)) Drawn riding some chocabos , while each of them are a animal that's related to the class, exam: Warrior would be a bear or lion, the theft would be a rat, or monkey, the white mage would be a Crain, or rabbit, and the black mage should be a panther, or bat.

And they should have a look on there faces that express and serious tone. Like they are about to fight the final battle.  :D  So there's my idea, now you don't have to squeeze them all on one space, but just figure something to get you thinking.

Not sure if he's all that different/interesting, but I've got this croco/dino/lizard-dude:

(http://orig09.deviantart.net/1075/f/2016/307/2/b/1476492467_faeseiren_com_chezana_ref_by_zaryte-dan5tzx.jpg)

He's a bit of a mischievous prankster, and almost always have something plotted. Could be kinda fun to see him do some sort of Mr.Burns-imitation (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YKUOB8MN4Kc). (Like, a bust/headshot of him grinning like that while twiddling his fingers.)

Anyways, thanks for the chance ^^
Also, would you happen to have any sort of dA/FA-gallery page?

Your drawings are outstanding. I have two requests/suggestions, if you don't mind. You can do either one, or both, or neither.

First is my fursonas Tsaenoa and Daome. For a prompt, how about sibling rivalry.
(http://orig04.deviantart.net/14a5/f/2016/176/c/1/tsaenoa_and_daome_by_johnraptor-d5j9kms.jpg)

The other is a kraken, but not a giant octopus, more like a giant crustacean. The earliest descriptions of the kraken in scandinavian literature were more like a giant crab and/or whale than an octopus or squid.

Would love to see my dragon in your style!

He needs to be more dragon-like minus the wing and bangs.

If you'd like, could you draw Nori? She's a Fennec fox/wolf, Sabertooth & Hippogryph hybrid. My ref is the link under my avatar, though I'm working on a new one with some changes to match my suit, mostly just the more fennec-like, large ears, and a bit slimmer muzzle. Here's a few pictures of my suit as well :)

I'm trying to lean her character towards more of a meditative person, sitting by a river or out in a prairie field with fireflies at night, kind of like a spirit guide in a way, more centered and aware than I am :P

If you wanted to do a trade, here's some examples of my work, (I also did my reference) I do realistic better, but so far nobody wants a realistic drawing of their sona :P

Hey! Just checking in to say I am still here. I have been lurking and drawing a lot. Thank you for taking the time to share your characters and ideas with me. I am surprised by the response I got, and it has honestly been useful for sparking extra drawing energy in me. Thanks guys. Really.

.....
Due to my shyness and anxiety, I have never kept a gallery account anywhere. I am trying to force myself to do so now and get used to the internet. I only have a few files up so far, but I have more jpegs in the works. I can find very large sites somewhat lonely, and prefer small places like this forum (I am pleased I found a place like this really.) I am still figuring myself out online.

If you are interested and want to give me a watch on your website of choice, it would encourage me to post more frequently (makes the time feel more worth it.) (Also thanks for asking.)

My DeviantArt is Ibexien.  http://ibexien.deviantart.com/ (http://ibexien.deviantart.com/). Likely my main account.
My Tumblr is Antelocapra.  http://antelocapra.tumblr.com/ (http://antelocapra.tumblr.com/). I think I will focus on "Flight Rising" stuff here atm.
I do not use Furaffinity at this time, but I have a name reserved there. It is Artiodactyl. http://www.furaffinity.net/user/Artiodactyl (http://www.furaffinity.net/user/Artiodactyl). Also, I recently remembered Weasyl is a thing and went ahead and made an account there. If you like Weasyl, here u go https://www.weasyl.com/~ibexien (https://www.weasyl.com/~ibexien). I have never used the site before, but I like the layout.

As I mentioned, I prefer small sites like TFF.  ...Should I make an "art gallery" thread here? Would that be of interest to anyone? While it would be more inspiring to me than only focusing on DA, I worry I am too quiet for a forum community. ( I haven't much to say. But when I do, I type a lot.)

....
And finally! some replies.
Sorry, I don't have any drawings for you yet, but I am working on stuff. (Making art takes forever.)

@Vincent Sliver
What a description - Unique and detailed. I tried working on a riding scene, but I ended up just drawing a bunch of big birds  ...if anyone wants to see that. ><

@Cheza
I am trying not to pick favourites, but this guy is right up my alley (crocs and dinos!) I haven't been happy with my sketches though, and ended up doing two things.  ... Btw, is he wearing a skirt? because of his tail??  Just, I never see that and I appreciate the idea.

@Zaida
The description of the nightmare form struck me. I got a sketch done, but then felt I couldn't move on until I knew more about some anatomical details - like the horns (?), fur, lips, and teeth. You seem to be into canines, so I went in that direction for now. WiP here v

@John Red Beard
I find cats intimidating. I seem to only be able to draw a good feline once a year. I worry I wouldn't do your characters justice. I have been practicing though!

I am interested in this alternative kraken. I was trying to find more info on the myth, but the internet is bogged down with the cephalopod type. I have yet to try drawing a "kraken" for fear of finding my creativity lacking, but I think I need to just sit down and try it already. (Ocean creatures are awesome.)

@ZielZorix  @Shoon
I started some digital sketches to get myself accustomed to Photoshop again. I then remembered why I don't draw directly on the computer. :| But it is too late in the process to turn back now. Stay tuned.

@Nori
Hello! I would gladly take you up on a trade - thank you for offering. :D All of my characters are equine-antelope things, if you're comfortable with that. You can draw them in whatever style you feel like.  ... However, I will have to get back to you later about my character references, as I don't have much scanned.

The nature scene you described for Nori is pleasant and I already have an idea I will try to draw.

Peeking at your FA, I enjoy the portrait you did of Winnona the dinosaur. It has a vibrant fun look, with the bright colours and expression. S'cute.  (Random aside - Your profile says you ride horses. I'm stuck in the city and jealiz.)

...
Aaaand that's all for now. Thank you and G'night!
(ps, I love the custom smilies here)

Quite a few people have gallery posts here, I personally love seeing them! Most people post theirs over at https://www.thefurryforum.com/forums/index.php?board=62.0 (https://www.thefurryforum.com/forums/index.php?board=62.0)

I'd love to draw an ungulate, I did a cartoon Elk a while back, but would love trying out something different! And thanks for the update, take your time <3

Of course you should! :P
Don't worry about being too quiet. We have a couple of quiet ones. Some have art threads, others don't. Either way, whatever choice you make is best ^^
Heck, maybe via your art thread you'll get quite a few people responding to it, and maybe it will help you a bit over your shyness ;)
You can post all the art you make in there, from WIPs to sketches to full-on finished pieces :D

The drawing you did for Zaida really looks astounding!

And Nori did a good job linking to the Artwork section ;)

As for a trade, while I am currently busy, if you are ever up for one: Would you also like to do a trade with me? o3o

Ah! I love the sketch so much. I've actually been working on my ref so I'll definitely post it later so you can have a better idea! I'll try to add more info to her nightmare form, maybe I'll sketch something out as well~

I have something that may interest you, since you said you can draw Pokémon. How about my fursonas Tenshi and Akuma? Tenshi is a shiny Zoroark, and Akuma, his twin brother, is a regular Zoroark.

 Tenshi looks basically the same as most other shiny Zoroarks-- Bright purple hair with black spikes and a light blue band in it with a black stripe under it, purple claws/markings, that kind of thing. His eyes are just more of an ice blue, as well as the band in his hair. He also has bangs covering one eye, and his fur is a lighter gray than usual.

Akuma looks a lot like a typical Zoroark, with a few minor differences. His hair is solid red with no black or anything in it, his eyes are bright green, and he has bangs covering the edges of both his eyes. His claws/markings are red, and his hairband is the normal sky blue coloring.

Tenshi's outfit is a black jacket, silver shirt and black pants. He wears a pair of glasses with black frames.
Akuma's outfit is a dark gray vest, white shirt and black pants. He also wears a necklace with a charm that looks like a white fox skull.

For a prompt, perhaps you could draw them standing in front of one another, Akuma with his arms crossed and Tenshi appearing to tap his chin in deep thought, both of them smirking.

Hey, you look like a really talented artist! How long have you been drawing? Everything looks really good!

If you don't mind, I'd like to take up a spot on your request queue. I may not have the most interesting character, but still, it could be awesome to see him being drawn by someone who's really talented (as I haven't had him drawn by anyone else before).

I have a link for a reference sheet in my profile. Yes, it's not the best reference sheet in the world (as I just drew it yesterday), but it's all that I have so far. (I'll probably make a better one, one day.)

As for a prompt, could you maybe draw him practising acoustic guitar? Preferably in a typical teenagers room, but that's up to you.

I hope to hear from you!

(Again: The art you've posted so far looks awesome!)
