Ok, when I joined back in 2014, there was a lot more activity on these forums.
Hell, even back in late 2015, I got lots of reactions from the community and 40+ unread posts when I logged in after school. I posted shit and the latest I would have to wait was a day or two before I got a response.
Now, this forum is practically dead, or maybe on life support, I'm not entirely sure. The community feels cold and distant, replies are few and far between, and new topics are rarely created. Hell, I haven't seen any activity in the therian/otherkin threads for a few days now.
What happened to this forum? I swear, I'm gone for a few weeks to focus on school,, and it's practically deserted when I come back.

The therian/otherkin board have always been fairly slow for as long as I remember. But other than that it does seem like a lot of furs left. I know of a few furs where they have gone to. Some have joined an other forum, some have moved to the Skype group, some are on Discord and probably more left because they're busy IRL.
Well, that's all I know. Hope it helps a little bit.

That''s probably the exact reason, things tend to quieten down when school gets back in motion.

And it has been down often. I know I don't check as often because I now expect it to be down.

I dunno, when you look at the forum statistics as a whole the forum isn't doing that poorly.
Our best year ever in terms of new posts and new threads was 2015 with 3926 new threads and 318206 new posts. We're not even done with 2016 and we have already almost beaten the new posts with 312769 new posts and we are on our way to tie with new threads with about 3000 new threads this year so far. 2016 also has the record for the time period with the most people online being at 161 or 3 times more than the previous record. The only part of 2016 that is lacking is new members, with only 1387 new members so far as opposed to 2015s 2393 new members (our record was in 2011 with over 7,000 new members).
What I feel you are feeling is not actually the forum dying, but more so the community changing, which it does consistently over a short period of time. It's an ailment that many older members feel, the community changes and a lot of people feel unsatisfied because the threads they used to make used to get replies from all their companions and friends, but as the community has changed it has moved on and threads they made before may be mostly ignored by the newer community.
It's not the forum dying, it's the forum changing and it does so a lot and it's a problem that the mod team have only very recently attempted to address. We have some plans to help older members remain active in the forum, but the ideas right now are strictly conceptual.
It should be also mentioned that the months of October and November are usually not very active due to, as tweak mentioned, school and so forth. People post on it not as much.
