Title: Sign Language
Post by: HollowOfHaze on August 26, 2016, 08:53:41 AM
I have been recently enrolled in ASL lessons at my school, and I was wondering if anybody has had experience with it themselves. Any tip for learning more efficiently? I have been taking the time to converse with a friend whenever possible using ASL, as long as I have been in touch with him so far.

In the short time I was studying sign language, I found spelling out random words or names was quite fun to do, and then double-check if they were correct.
Maybe you can use sign-language during a part of the movie, try to translate what they say?
Things like that.

Not sure if this helps, but that is something I liked to do :)

The problem is that knowing how to spell does not teach the actual sign.

I learnt most of my Auslan from an 8 year old.  She was an enthusiastic, energetic and forgiving teacher.  Kids as teachers ftw!

I don't think I only mentioned how to spell in my original post :3
I hope the other tips help though ^^
