Title: IMVU Anthro Outfit Contests
Post by: WingedZephyr on December 08, 2007, 09:02:06 AM
Today's (Saturday's) outfit contest for IMVU is "Dragons." I entered myself, and thought some other people might be interested. (Be sure to vote! ...Not necessarily for me.)

Tuesday is for furry outfits (finally!) as well, so maybe prepare an outfit or whatever for that day.

How lame.
They're having an anonymous contest...
How are we supposed to know who to vote for?
I don't vote based on which one I like the best.
I vote for friends and vote against everyone else. :p
Maybe if I see someone using my stuff for the furry one I might vote for them.
Unless they're making my stuff look bad. :p

If anyone wants to vote for me, I'm the Wind Dragon Princess.  :P

Maybe if we had a mass of FF members go in on the Furry contest... that would be interesting.

You know what's so funny...?
In over half of the top voted pictures, the avatars are human.

Seriously. Imagine how I felt after spending HOURS getting my outfit and snapshot the way I wanted it to be, and then being placed behind a human wearing a back tattoo of a dragon.

grr
Thankfully I've moved up at least.  :twitch:

What's your outfit called...?
I wound up just voting down for those human ones.

"Wind Dragon Princess"

...Basically the only one using one of the full dragon sets of my own design.

(And I should be anywhere within the top 10 places)

I just voted on around 500 entries.
You were at 5th place last I saw.

When Tuesday rolls around, does anyone think that I should join in?

I think you should. I might give it a go... But I'm not sure yet.

Is it just "anthro" for the topic or does there have to be a particular theme?

Any of us should.
And then report back with your entrant name if it's another one like this one was.
I'll do it.
My outfit might not be too spectacular.
I'll probably use one of my furkinis. (marketing purposes only :p)

The exact theme for Tuesday is "Half Man Half Animal" - which we all know is essentially the same as "Anthro."

And I ended up placing 6th in the Dragons contest, which isn't too bad since I still got a prize, though I still don't think some of the ones ahead of me deserved the places they won.

Well normally I wouldn't even think of entering an outfit contest, but I might give Tuesday's one a go. Got an outfit lined up ready just in case I do.

Well, technically half man half animal isn't anthro at all.
So, I'm out.

If people can call someone with a back tattoo a "dragon" I'd consider "half man half animal" to be anthro. It's an animal with human form, and I don't think anyone else is going to be strict about being exactly 50% animal and 50% human.   :peek:

I just figured this may be as close as IMVU is going to get to a "furry" contest anytime in the near future.

The closest they'll come without alienating the mundanes.
I was only speaking technically. :p
I agree, I'd bet you'll even see completely unrelated entrants.

If you want to get into it though...
An anthro or 'furry" is an animal where as a were creature is only half and therefore not one.
Just like how Nekos/cat girls aren't furries. They are human with additional traits.
Anthros aren't human at all even though they have human characteristics.

Just go on ahead and enter Eph.... they have no reason to deny us.

nah, I'm not interested in the half and half.

I know, silly. I just wasn't being technical.

 :P

But oh well. Do what you want, we can't make you enter of course. I'm gonna go for it.

Does anyone know how to submit the outfit to the contest?

When you save an outfit it should give you an option to enter it.
I think...

On the outfit contest page (http://www.imvu.com/outfits/contest/index.php?nav_section=shopping&nav_subsection=outfitchallenge), in the box titled "Enter the Outfit Challenge" at the bottom of the menu at the right there will be a link to submit, click the link and it'll lead you to a page where you can pick one of the outfits you have saved and submit it.

I'm now entered as "Nivios Girl" if anyone wants to vote for me.

I went for "Oriental White Wolf."

I'm currently 282nd of 700+ and Altair, you are much higher up than mine.

I'm somewhere around 60th...

Some of the higher places in this contest DO NOT belong there. Seriously.

Edit: Make that 75th. Merf...  +++2

Well... the contest has come and gone, but the thing is that LadySaturnyne's banner is still going...

And I only saw three entrants I recognize, including myself.

Me too. Well actually, 4 for me. I noticed my sis's avi on there too. I don't remember my final position but I know I wasn't on the first couple of pages, which is a shame because near the beginning I was 30th for about 10 minutes.

Question does arise... about how many people normally enter these contests? There was more than 700 in this one, and I feel somewhat good I was above most of the rest for a long time, but I'll have to say that there were quite a few who deserved higher placement than me for originality and 'coolness' as IMVU put it.
Title: Re: IMVU Anthro Outfit Contests

Well for me, this one was a first. I don't normally enter because, well let's be honest, how many male avatars have actually managed to win these things? But when ever I look there's usually around the 1000 mark.
Title: Re: IMVU Anthro Outfit Contests
Post by: Vosur Aekira on December 12, 2007, 01:33:47 PM
True... not many males do win these things.
Title: Re: IMVU Anthro Outfit Contests

Not many males enter either. The majority are females.

There are indeed often around 1000 entries, though I don't tend to keep track of the numbers.

The contest just isn't organized very well. I don't know what would help it, but it's true that a lot of entries don't get the place that they really deserve.

And also, if anyone wants to help me out, I entered today's contest as well, as "Holiday Tigers." I was 44th last time I checked. (This will likely be the last contest I'm entering. I'm sick of the whole stupid thing.)
