I'm feeling in the mood for an RP involving a bunch of guys fighting along side each other in a tournament of fighting. Just something simple, mindless, not much of a plot, just good old-fashioned fighting and team work for those that like action based RP. I would prefer to RP right here. I'm not on the internet 24/7, so a simple forum RP is best. I hope this isn't a problem.

It depends. How infrequently are you on the forum?

Depends on how much luck i'm having with posts. Usually it's a month or two in between if nothing major is going on. I'm always on Skype though, if you'd like to rp on that.

that's understandable, skype does eat up a lot of processing power. I wouldn't mind another IM system (except for facebook IM), if you can use them. If not, I guess we could RP over PMs.

Alright! Thanks for joining. Do you have a character planned? I have one, but I'm still trying to flesh him out right now. He's kind of my usual spiel, though.

Hmmm, I'd say it leans more towards a more historical setting, but the characters can be more diverse. The arena is a bit rustic, but the fighters are very diverse, ranging from magic users to sword-fighters and such. Even projectile weapons are "sort-of" allowed, but weapons that can effortlessly kill someone are not allowed. Besides, this is sort of a non-lethal tourney, and those that get mortally wounded and/or killed are usually healed by magic. I hope that's okay.

No rule against it. ;) Plus, it might work well with my character, who's sort of a funster himself, though still somewhat competent. I'm going to be writing an intro and bio up for him too.
If no one else is going to join, I will allow two characters per person.

Alright, intro here. It's kind of long so bear with me. ...you'll get the pun in a little bit.
The tournament had not yet begun, yet matches were already taking place. These were one-on-one matches where teamless creatures fight to advertise themselves to other teams who were looking to fill slots in their roster. As it turned out, one match was taking place right now: a match between a fan-favorite, and... somewhat of an unintended heel.
"LADIES AND GENTLEMEN!" the announce called out. "TIME FOR ANOTHER ADVERTISEMENT MATCH! This fight will have no effect on your possible standings in the tournament, but is meant entirely to advertise these brave newcomers to other open teams looking for partners. ARE YOU READY FOR THIS WARM-UP ADVERTISEMENT FIGHTING MATCH!?" The crowd roared in excitement as the announcer was raising the hype. "OUR FIRST COMPETITOR! HAILING FROM PLAINS OF SAVARA, IT'S THE MIGHTY TYMAX!!!"
Out of one of the arena doors, you could see a pair of glowing eyes six feet above the ground. Loud stomping noises ensued as the creature came out of the darkness. There, we could see the Mighty Tymax was a fairly impressive looking Elephant with superb muscles, nice brass armor and a belt with a large pocket that seemed to hold a gun. He was also carrying a strange spear. It was round, not pointy in the slightest, and there were pads around the edges of the spear that would stop it from piercing much. You would think at first this guy was an idiot to bring this spear in, when in fact he was given a regulated spear by the tourney officials. Tymax raised his arms as the crowd cheered for him.
"AND HIS OPPONENT!!! ...Eh, some guy who will inevitably make a fool of himse... I mean, HAILING FROM THE WINDING RIDGES OF BELDOME, IT'S EVARON THE ENORMOUS!!!"
The announcer seemed less enthused calling this guy out. You couldn't see much in the darkness, but suddenly the arena started to shake. The shakes kept getting louder and more vibrant until Evaron showed up. The shacking stopped once he stood idle. This creature, actually, lived up fully to his nickname. He was a HUGE bear, about eight feet tall and looked to weigh about 800lbs or so. He was wearing a huge open biker's jacket and a pair of shades, but didn't even bother to put an undershirt on to hide his belly. This guy was also swinging a microphone around on it's cord. He... didn't seem to have any weapons, but he seemed to have some impressive strength in his own right. His width would soak up a lot of damage, and he seemed to have very strong arms and legs, which would allow him to move surprisingly well despite his weight. He actually dwarfed the fairly large elephant by quite a lot. Even though he wasn't particularly puny looking, his entrance was followed by several "boos" and jeers.
Suddenly, Evaron stopped swinging his microphone around and brought it to his mouth. It looked like he was about to talk or something.
"Oh no, he's about to sing again!" The announcer groaned.
But before Evaron could belt out a single word, Tymax pulled his gun out and fired directly at Evaron's hand. The bullet, like the spear, was regulated and fired blanks, but it shot enough force out to knock that microphone out of Evaron's hand.
"Hey! That's not very sportsmanlike of you!" Evaron shouted.
"No one likes your singing!" Tymax taunted. "Now hurry up and lose! I got myself a team to join!"
Tymax and Evaron charged straight at each other. Their running was loud and clear, yet the ground wasn't shaking like it did in Evaron's entrance, which suggested that he was using magic as a special effect. Tymax got the first shot as he swung straight at Evaron's leg. Evaron toppled right over on the ground, landing belly first before rolling onto his back. Tymax then stood on Evaron and was about to thrust his spear into Evaron's torso. Evaron quickly swiped the spear, and managed to yank it out of Tymax's hands.
"Ha! Did you really believe that would hurt me, even if you DIDN'T use a tourney-issued spear?" Evaron asked.
"I don't need that spear to do you in," Tymax taunted.
Evaron then launched Tymax right off of him before getting up. Tymax landed into the dirt a few feet away from him. Evaron took Tymax's spear and started advancing toward him, this time causing the ground to shake with his steps: again, probably using magic to do so. Tymax pulled his gun on him and fired at Evaron. His shots did nothing to him as Evaron grew near. When Evaron was close enough, he thrust his spear at Tymax. Tymax rolled out of the way and managed to get up just in time to jump over another swing of the spear. He then punched Evaron's arm that was holding the spear, using enough force to knock the spear out of his hand. Evaron tried to retaliate by clapping his paws together on Tymax's head, but Tymax charged right into Evaron's gut and thrust his palms into him. He clutched onto Evaron and started to lift him. It was kind of surprising Tymax could lift someone so huge, but eventually he hoisted him over his head before dropping Evaron off into the ground behind him. This seemed to have caused Evaron a lot of pain. ...But not as much as what happened to him next. Tymax decided to finish him off by firing his gun right at Evaron's head. This knocked Evaron clean out, causing his massive body to grow lifeless.
"LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, YOUR WINNER BY A KNOCK-OUT!: THE MIGHTY TYMAX!!!"
The crowd cheered as Tymax started to pose for the audience. Suddenly, some small creatures came out, a pair of lizards, both wearing white robes, came out and went towards Evaron. They went over to him and started to glow as they put their hands toward his head. The blank came out of his forehead, and the wound it left was mending. Eventually, Evaron was recovered and able to get up.
"Aww, man," he said to himself. "I was hoping I would win that one. Now no one's going to take me seriously." Evaron walked out with the two lizards as the crowd continued to cheer for Tymax. Evaron wasn't ready to give up, but this match meant his chances of getting a team for the official matches would go down. This made the eager bear feel very sad.
OOC: Yeah, I'm playing another fat guy. Can't help it, I just love playing as them.
Name: Evaron "The Enormous"
Animal: Bear
Age: 28
Appearance: Mentioned in the intro.
Personality: Evaron has a generally gentle heart, but is a little full of himself. He likes to sing a lot, and hates being cut off. He's also slightly egotistical, but that's mostly towards opponents. He tries to treat any potential teammates with respect, but will get angry any time someone mocks his splendid singing.
Backstory and Motive: Not surprising for one his size, he's a professional sumo-wrestler. ...Or was, until the dojo he was in shut down. Now he works as a freelancer, who takes jobs to get by in life. However, he has a hard time getting work, as many do not take him seriously, so he doesn't get jobs that often, though usually does a decent job when he DOES get them. Sometimes he takes a break from freelancing, and uses some money to fund magic lessons, though so far he's only learned earth-based magic.
Evaron misses his life as a Sumo Wrestler, and longs to one day rebuild his dojo. That is why Evaron went to this tournament, in hopes of making at least ten-thousand dollars to help open the dojo again. ...But he lost touch with his friends from the dojo, and came without a partner. He hopes someone will take him seriously, see what he has to offer, and be allowed into a team.
Special moves/abilities/weapons: For magic abilities, he can shake the ground, summon boulders and cause spikes to jut out, but that is about it. His only real weapons are his immense strength and his microphone, which he often uses as a weapon.
Other: It's arguable whether he really sings, more like raps in a deep voice.

Name:Daichi Akimoto "Lotus"
Species:Sika Deer
Age:31
Appearence:Short, skinny deer, wears dark blue parachute pants, which are ket on his body by very very fancy....rope, being A deer, he wears no shoes, for he has whooves, he wears no visible armor.
Personality:Daichi is Calm and Laidback, He doesn't talk much, and doesn't make very much sense when he does, Spouting stuff about Peace and Tranquility, He respects almost all people, either friend or foe, But gets flustered when people insult his pants.
Backstory and Motive:Being a monk of an unknown order, he was sent on something resembling a spirit journey, he vowed not to come back to his order until he raches spiritual enlightenment, And thought that this touney might help him reach "Enlightment", It might or might not help, but either way, he doesn't seem to notice, He seeks any other members of His order, so someone can finally understand his spiritual mumbo jumbo.
Special Moves/Abilities/Weapons:He is well taught in Pyromancy, and can throw balls of fire, that do pretty good damage, He also has some experience in healing people, but doesn't bother using it on himself (He can heal everyone but himself, basically)
Other: His appearance mathes his physical health, He is squishy and can be easily defeated if one gets close enough, But his fire might make that a challenge

Talia watches the fight and gulps. How ever comical the display she can only cringe at the thought of being locked in a match with any of them, even the ridicuously over fed bear. Like the bear Talia leans to th3 portly side, although not nearly as much and lacking any muscle to make up for it.
It was ironically her love for fine food that led her to sneak into the noblemans feast, and her over indulgence that prevented her from escaping the way she came in. Alas that nobleman turned out to be non other than the judge that gave her this very sentence and the burgler soon found herself here with a nothing more than a leather vest slapped to her chest and a spear thrust into her paws.
She gulped and shivered at the thought of fighting while the lizard behind her practically ate up the combat. "WOOO! That's right! Bring on the PAIN!" the red scaled lizard was hardly much to look at. He wasn't fit enough to be considered muscular, but wasn't skinny enough to be considered healthy either. He was just sort of...average.
Didnt stop him from wearing a loin cloth over his pants and shoulder pauldron and...little else. He carried a sword and sheild. "The shield! Give him the shield!" he shouts. Both stand next to the slitted windows that allow them to watch from the gladiators ready room.
Name: Talia
Animal: pine marten
Age: 25
Appearance: A rather plump and pot bellied pine marten. She wears trousers and an ill fitted leather vest.
Personality: A snarky thief yo! Despite proof to the contrary she thinks she is the only sane and intelegent person in the room. Her vices as well as quick wit tend to come back and bite her in the tail.
Backstory and Motive: A thief by trade she was breaking into a noblemans house while he was having a feast. She stopped by the pantry and ate her fill of fine noble quality meats and sweatw until she could no longer fit through the window she came in. Alas, the beast must now earn her freedom through the games. Its a pitty she lacks any combat skills...

Backstab, run away very quickly! , flail spear, plead for mercy, whine.

Animal: lizard
Age: 23
Appearance: A meakling of a lizard he wears standard gladiator gear but lacks the standard gladiator muscle to back it up.
Personality: First to leap into combat, wild, loud, and over confident
Backstory and Motive: Pello has no interesting backstory, and that is something he has come here to change! He plans to become a legendary legend of the arena! Or die trying...

OOC: I think Evaron and Talia could be good friends. Also, I'm actually considering adding Tymax to the group. I dunno, I just think it's be cooler if he was an ally to someone he doesn't particularly like rather than a rival on another team.
Evaron exited the arena, looking around for a team to join. He encountered a bunch of teams, but every single one pretty much knocked the mic out of his claws every time he tried to talk. No one wanted anything to do with him. He just kept looking.
Tymax exited the arena, but before he did he noticed Pello in the stands. Tymax pointed to him and clicked his face as a sign of appreciation. "That's right. Gladiators are alive and kickin'." He then exited the arena and went up to the stands where he saw the lizard. "Say there, little guy, did you enjoy the match?" he asked Pello. Tymax started to evaluate Pello a bit. He wasn't impressed, but he admired the little guy's spirit. "Yeah, I don't have a team yet, so I'm not "technically" in the competition. Still, I doubt you've seen the last of me. I'm sure there are lots of people who'd want me on their team."
Name: Mighty Tymax
Animal: Elephant
Age: 35
Appearance: Mentioned in the intro.
Personality: Tymax has a true fighting spirit, and an ego to match. Even more full of himself than Evaron, he likes to show off a lot. He's not a bad guy, and deep down doesn't like being hated. Part of his ego drives him to protect his friends.
Backstory and Motive: Nothing too fancy, he's just a freelancer looking for a chance at glory. And yet, he does have plans for the money. He wants to start his own Roman-inspired gym. Tymax is sort of a fitness nut, and is constantly seen working out in other gyms. He also needs the money because his life as a freelancer is almost as bad as Evaron's. His egotistical attitude often docks the pay he gets.
Special moves/abilities/weapons: His trusty spear and gun are his main weapons. Due to the rules against lethal weapons, however, his original spear and gun were replaced by safer versions of them.
Other: He kind of has a thing for gladiators, but also likes cowboys, and tries to mix the two in his style.

"Tymax! My man its nice to finally meet a legend! Is it really true you once punched a man so hard his head flew off?" whether or not this is true the little lizard Pello continues before Tymax can reply. He draws his sword, holding it aloft, "Dude! Can you..." he asks with emarasment, "Sign my sword?"
Talia looks less interested in making friends in this room than making allies.
She glances over the rack of weapons in the far corner, each one appearing more complex and deadly and all she can think of is how it would feel to have them running through her guts.
The thought is enough to tie her stomach into knots. The only way she is surviving this is if she finds the biggest, baddest fighters and gets on their good side.
And also dumb enough to want her on a team...there is that too.
That makes Tymax out. He looks experienced enough to know Talia has no fighting skills. Pello is surely doomed. That leaves....
"Heeeeeey, buddieeeeey." the marten says as she strides up to the bear, "That was a nice fight you put up. You got totally jipped though, that tusked fella totally robbed you of victory. Surpised no one called him out on it.'
And then Daichi the deer enters and the fat bellied thief waves him over, "Howdy mate! Don't be shy! Come join us. We fighters need to stick together, right?"

"You want me... to sign your sword?" Tymax asked Pello. "Well why not?" He took the sword and then took out a strange pen. But it wasn't just a pen, it was a mechanical chisel. It was a fine one, as he needed to be careful with metal. "Now... who am I making this out too?"
Evaron then saw someone coming. It was a relatively plump pine marten. She looked... not so much "muscular" fat. ...More like just plain fat. Evaron was wondering if she was really doing it right. Still, it looked like she had an interest in Evaron, and he wanted to get on her good side before asking about her training. "Well hello there," Evaron said. "You... are actually the only one who came up to me to talk. Well, I wouldn't say I was "robbed" per chance, just that I got unlucky. Not many animals can lift my heavy frame around, and I wasn't expecting it. ...But the next time I fight him, I'll know what to do."

"Oh, hi there little guy," Evaron said to Daichi. "...It doesn't bother you if I call you "little guy" does it? To me, it feels like almost everyone is a "little guy." I end up calling everyone that. It's a habit I really need to break."

Pello practically beams with pride. His eyes widen and dialate, his paws clasp together and his thick tail wags about like an excited cat. "Pello lenonardo fransico montoya jenkins...the third. If you could....just sign there along the middle...preferably with out getting any on the hilt. Iwant my opponants to be able to read the name clearly as I ram it into their face." he says with murderous glee.
Talia rolls her head backward and laughs, "Of course we don't know each other. Not yet at least. I'm Talia." the dear looked like a coat rack, hardly any muscil to him. Still if he could take even one punch that was one less dest8ned for the marten.
Talia steps onto the bench and tries to lean her elbow on the bears head while continuing on. "Listen mates. Im looking for a team, I guess you would say. I'm afraid this is my first time in this particular area. I'm used to some good old tavern pub brawling...with cage matches...and glass bottles strapped to me paws." she lies through her teeth. "Maybe one of yous can bring me up to speed on the rules of these here uh, 'games'."

"Woah... that is a... very long name," Tymax says as he starts writing it into the sword. "Say there, young spirit, you wouldn't happen to have a team formed, would you?"
"Yeah, you and me both," Evaron said to Talia. "No one wants to take me seriously, and that fight didn't help. Do you... do you want to be my partner?"

"Easy fellas easy," says the marten with a laugh. She hops off of the bench and tries to huddle them together in the same group hug...which is impossible do to the distance between them really...and rather awkward looking in all honesty.
"I am in fact looking for a team. I'm a...uh..." she looks at the spear she left propped against the wall, "A lancer...or...spear fighter yeah. I'm that. How about you guys? What is it that you...do?" she glances first at the scrawny deer and then the very...oh what was the socially acceptable term to describe someone so...so...big. It was like looking at opposit ends of extremes. Baring any more entries coming through the doors her options were however limited.
"Me? Team up with you?" the little lizard practically beams, and then immidietly bursts out laughing, "Right...right that will be the day." he leans backward, crossing his arms, "Sorry but, I have a certain...style. See...Pello the Pulverizer only works with certain...tallent I guess you could say. You may be good, and famous...but are you good enough to last the full contest?"

"Hey that's good enough for me," Evaron said. "I... I'm no good at Yoga, but the rest of that sounds useful. Especially the "healing" part. Myself, as it probably comes as no surprise, I used to be a Sumo Wrestler. Besides that, I don't really have any set fighting style, but I'm probably the strongest, sturdiest creature around. ...Oh yeah, I can sing, too. Wanna hear?" His great size caused him to have an incredibly deep voice, which paired surprisingly well with the way he sung. ...But he doesn't actually "sing" so much as he rhymes about himself.
Tymax was surprised at what Pello said. Actually, Tymax didn't truly want to spar with him, as he knew Pello was inexperienced. He could... tell these things. "Okay, then I guess I'll just give you your sword back and, well, I'll be off then." He then gives Pello his sword back and starts to walk off. He knew that as eager as Pello was, he wasn't going to get a much better offer than Tymax's. "Here I go. Good luck. Have fun searching for other brave, strong warriors who will probably not like you as much as me. It's such a shame you're letting someone go who's won countless tournaments. But oh well, it was your move, so audios. Hasta la vista. Aloha. Sayonara. And all that sort of stuff."

Alas, the deer was the only one who thought so.
"Er! What I mean to say is that you could join /my/ team. That would totally be...be..." Pello cringes, "what on earth is going on over there? I someone being murdered?"
The marten only twitches an eye as she struggles to keep a forced smile on her lips. Im going to die, she thought, Im going to be murdered by gladiators while he sings about it. "Fine! You can join! Yes yes! Such lovely singing that is, no NO you don't have to show us any more of it."
"Yeah, for the love of all that is holy STOP." the lizard steps into the same room as the others. Some people just were not music lovers.

His singing wasn't THAT bad. Yes, annoying and narcissistic, but it usually wasn't enough to make people cringe. Still, the deer seemed to like it. "That's kind of my theme song," he said to Daichi. "I kind of use it as a fun way of intimidating the opponent. It's supposed to show confidence."
And then the lizard showed up to say how awful his singing was. And then Tymax came in too. Tymax had a thing or two to say about him. "As terrable a singer as you are a fighter, I see," he said.
"Hey, I didn't think I was THAT bad!" Evaron defended. "Most people are just annoyed by it. And who are you calling a bad fighter? I almost beat you!"
"Riiiiight. Almost," Tymax mocked.
"Anyway, guys, don't let my fight with Tymax deter you," Evaron said, shifting his focus to Daichi and Talia. "I'm very strong, and I'm very hard to deal damage to. I think I could still make a great addition to your team, even if big nose beat me in ONE FIGHT!"
"I could beat you any day of the week," Tymax said. Just then, a cross bear walked up to him and stared him down.
"Wanna bet?" Evaron asked. "Let's have a rematch, right now."
"I accept," Tymax said.
Just then, Evaron put his paw on Tymax's chest and shoved him backwards. Tymax landed in a weapon rack filled with tourney issued weapons, so he wasn't hurt. ...But he did get angry. He then charged at Evaron and the two started to brawl, trading punches between the two. It didn't look like anything would be proven by this.

It was right then and there that the officials stepped in. Two relatively large officials stepped in to separate the two. "Alright, I think you two are looking to get along pretty well," the first one said. The first one had a hissy, sarcastic voice. "Step away from each other."
"This is a tournament of happiness and pleasure," the second one said, seeming kind of... lame. "If you two do not see this, then perhaps there should be some bonding time between you."
"I'm afraid that's part of our rules," the hissy one said. "Two teamless fighters who brawl each other will be put on the same team."
"Whaaaat!?" Tymax and Evaron shouted in unison.
"From here on out in this current tourney, I hearby declare the Mighty Tymax and Evaron the Enormous... FRIEEEENDS!" the lame one said.
"Please enjoy the tourney," the hissy one finished before the two left the scene.
"Ugh! Stuck... on a team... with YOU!" Tymax shouted. "And you guys, if you want a team mate, you can try ridiculously long-named lizard over there. He seems eager."
"If you want, we can still join your team too," Evaron mentioned.

"No, hold it, I think we can make this work out," Evaron said. "This might be a good experience for us to learn more about each other and our strengths and weaknesses."
"I don't WANT to learn more about you," Tymax said.
"Well you heard the officials," Evaron started. "They seem to think we need some "hippie-bonding time" or something."

"What, just happened?" says the lizard. He shakes his head. "No matter. Now is not the time for fighting amongst ourselves, now is the time to be fighting other people!" Pello stands heroically, steiking a pose with his fist in the air, "Come my brothers, and sister, in combat! We shall sign up for our very first match and decimate the compition through the power of team work and herbal grey tea!" and the lizard leaves the room to sign them up for their first match...
"Screw the tea, just give me the whisky..." says Talia

*Daichi grabbed a teapot, almost out of nowhere, putting in Some green tea...powder, beforemaking a fireball with his palm, putting it just under the teapot*

"...So I take it the lizard is now part of the team, too," Tymax asked.
"Guess so," Evaron. "By the way, could you add a touch of honey to my cup of tea."
"Oh, ho ho ho, very funny, because bears like honey," Tymax. "I bet that's how you got so..."
"What? Is it wrong that a bear just happens to like, out of all the foods on the planet, honey?" Evaron asked. "And besides, I got this way through a diet of Chanko Stew and lots of protein."
OOC: Yay! First match. Anyone got any ideas for antagonist characters they want to use?

The marten hardly hears whats going on behind her as she is slowly led to the arena. She is gripping the spear so tightly she is leaving grooves on the wood with her claws. "Dont die dont die dont die." she mumbles and shrieks when Pello places a paw on her shoulder.
"Relax! People hardly ever die in the arena."
"R-really?" the marten says, hope entering her voice.
"Yeah. It would be bad business to kill a star attraction. A little maiming might occure but they have healers for that." the lizard nods. "At least for big attractions. No one really keeps track of how many people die or are horribly maimed in lesser known teams like ours."
"Gee...thanks."
"Anytime"

"So who are we up against?" Tymax asked. "What is the name of this team?"
"Well.. Oh great," Evaron said.
"Don't tell me, let me guess, an anthropmorphic bowl of salad?" Tymax asked.
"Ha ha, very funny!" Evaron shouted. "No. The Jaykal brothers are part of this team. They're twins who used to come by the dojo just to mock the sumo wrestlers. I was their favorite to pick on."
"Sound non-threatening," Tymax said. "Who else?"

With the marten sufficently terrified Pello hops to the team roster board. "Let's see, we have Back breaker Bob the Hyena, and...someone called the Viper."
"Is it a literal Viper or just some kind of generic name for someone who moves like a viper?" asks the marten. Pello just shrugs in reply.
