Title: Cringeworthy things you've done in your life/stupid things you regret?
Post by: Ginger Ale on July 02, 2016, 02:13:25 AM
We all have done stupid things to embarrass ourselves. Share your stories here.
I'll start with a short one. When I was little, I memorized the lyrics to Smash Mouth - Allstar. I remember every word to this day.  >.>

Oh god.... Um, I didn't do this but this one time I was sitting by the rather strange girl, she then turned to me and said, "I'm a vampire." I was a little startled by it because this girl that I wasn't even talking to just turned to me and said she was a vampire! I then asked her, "Then why are you in the sun if your a vampire?" They got very very defensive and said that there a day walker. So I was like k, then my friends come over and ask wtf is going on. Before I could tell them she just blurted out, "Oh I'm a vampire." I had to walk away because I cringe to hard.

That sounds terrible.

I have another moment that I really regret.
So, near where I live, there is an Asian steak house that me and my family go to every year on Christmas Eve. After eating there one year, I went over to the guy making sushi rolls and said to him;
Me: Excuse me sir, do you mind if I watch you make this?
Sushi Guy: Uhh, Lunch? We do not have Lunch, no no, is late.
Me: No, no, I meant can I watch you make sushi?
Sushi Guy: You...want sushi Lunch, yes?
Me: No, no, I mean,
(Guy calls over another employee in another language)
Other Employee: Sushi lunch? No sushi lunch today, it is too late.
Me: Oh, sorry, does he (sushi guy) speak English?
Other Employee: No, he does not speak English, no.
Me: Oh...sorry.
(walks away quickly)
So that was really embarassing.

Oh god.

OH OH that reminds me of something I did a sushi place. I went there with no money, and they had a huge buffet, so my friends went to grab food while I sat there poor and no food. So I would take food from there plants when the employees weren't looking, but one of them caught me and asked if I paid for that, I said no. It was then a awkward battle of I jusT hAD ONE CALIFORNIA ROLL LEAVE ME ALONE. Then right when he walked away my friend next to me said rather loudly, "Oh herro." I had to leave because I was so god damn embarrassed.

Bit of an old topic, but I thought it was pretty cool.

My old crush put a 'love calculator' quiz on his bio on Instagram. It was actually one of those prank sites where they email the results to them. Something like this. http://lovecalculator.ws/ (http://lovecalculator.ws/)
Being stupid, I put his name into it.
It was a bad idea after I realised that results were emailed.
I eventually gave up and just told him I liked him.
Got rejected haha.

At school I got breakfast and I wanted both milk and orange juice...
But no
I said "can I have orange milk?" The lunch lady was so confused... And I kept repeating myself, she figured out what I meant. Then when I sat down to eat my breakfast before realizing what I said.

I was at Disney World and we were going to get on one of the rides, and there was a muslim woman with a hijab in line with her kids. I, being nine years old and not knowing about Islamic traditions, said "Woah! We get to ride with ninjas!"

I don't think anything could top that for being the worst thing to ever say at Disney World. X3

The first time I went to Starbucks, was on a field trip... and I was a hundred percent out of it that morning. I went in looked around, asked for a coffee , I think it was a size smaller than grande. And they asked me what flavor and I was like what? I was actually confused. [I thought it was like dunking donuts and there was only one flavor: coffee flavor.] So I  think I ordered Hazel and walked out. Started drinking and was like, ' huh my parents are right Starbucks coffee is nasty.' Then my friend is like what did you put in it? I forgot to put milk and sugar in my coffee.

Once in middle school i bought my girlfriend one of those heart boxes of chocolate for valentines day. There was a really ugly wrapper on the box so i took it off because it was ugly and put it back in my backpack. After school i gave her the gift, and when i got home i looked into my backpack realising the wrapper i took off was holding the box closed, all the chocolate spilled into my bag. So i gave her an empty box of chocolates. It embarrasses me to this day.

Tried to be 'cool' in middle school honors while watching The Odyssey. The 1997 version.

Yeah so when they reached the Scylla, which ate a number of Odysseus' men, I kicked my seat back and stood up shouting 'COOL!' at the fact there was active gore and blood. This was at age 13. I was on the internet. I also stayed standing until after they'd all fallen into the jaws of Charybdis.

Looking back I now realize how **censor** over the top I was being and that my teacher had even rolled her eyes. My class was annoyed as well, and I just never really put thought into it at the time.

Had a total facepalm moment a day ago.

> Be me, meeting new person for first time
> Greet person by asking how it's going
> They say "good hbu"
> "I'm good thanks, how bout yourself?"
> Person gives a confused look and says I just asked that
> Total awkwardness sets in

My dad: I'm going to be home late.
Me: VVA (In the middle of a smite match. Basically code for okay.)
Me: I mean, okay!
My dad: What does that mean?
Me: It's code for okay in a game.

When smite takes over your English vocabulary ;-;

(Or that time in College.)
Crush: (Looks like she's looking my way. I'm unsure.)
Me: (I frown and wave, still not sure.)
Crush: (After a second, Notices, smiles and waves.)
Me: (Acts normal. On the inside: CRAP I MESSED UP! I THOUGHT SHE WAS LOOKING AT ME! I want to go sit in a corner now lol)

Then that other time in College during an art break:
Me: So how'd you get into art?
Person: E.t.c. e.t.c. How about you?
Me: Oh... That's a secret. :D (Tries to play it cool.)
(Because if I opened that can of worms I would have to explain a whole bunch of crap that happened. Why did I decide to ask a question? Because it was awkwardly quiet okay >.>)

(Sings Bon Jovi's 'It's my Life' song except 'It's' is replaced with 'Screw').

The other day I came across a really old picture I took of something I posted on a forum when I was 13. It looked like I thought I owned the world, and I have no idea what I was trying to say. I'm going to post it, 1. For the sake of the thread and 2. In hopes one of you will understand it.

I went to the Great Wall a couple years ago (not the monument, the Chinese restaurant) and when my grandfather, brother, and I were done ordering our food-- the lady working at the desk wanted to throw me my fortune cookie, and I couldn't understand her. So, being the idiot I was, I made her repeat it oh... 23 times. Then I finally realised what she was saying and I was so embarrassed and just so uncomfortable with myself.

When I was a little kid I had a bright red hula-hoop. This thing was my jam. I was 5.

One day I accidentally threw it over into my neighbour's garden and, being the plucky young pioneer I was, hatched a daring plan to scale the wall and retrieve my beloved hoop. Drew up plans, packed a bag of "gadgets" (read: Spy toys I got for Christmas), everything.

So the time for action arrives, I scale the wall. It's about a metre high, but I am also about a metre high. I climb up the wall like Bear Grylls, perched ontop of the wall...

And face-plant into my neighbour's garden. They had rocks instead of grass. They watched this happen and laughed.

I wandered home with my hoop with blood exploding out of my face. My mum confiscated the hula-hoop.

daredevil here.. used to jump my bicycle, race it, etc.. one evening I was riding fast down the hill right in front of our house at the time, dad was standing at the end of the driveway watching me. As I blew past I thought he said something so I turned back to look, as I did I pulled the steering slightly to the right as well.

Short story:  4 houses down, van parked at the curb with a heavy steel bumper, kid on a bike (pre-helmet days) going too fast. Bike ended up staying upright as the front wheel bent in to match the shape of the bumper, rider (me) flying forward and hitting the back doors with side of head (still looking back, never saw it coming). wouldn't be SO bad, but hit door handle just in front of the left ear... no stitches, but a heck of a concussion, and start of my future neck problems...

In Elementary school there were multiple occurrences where I accidentally referred to a teacher as "mom".

I think I might have done it once in middle school too... :o

If you think 'mom' is bad, try calling your 8th grade teacher grandma x.x

Ooh I called my 6th grade teacher mama too. XDD (And I think the teacher's son was in that class as well) XDD
...
wait I hope I didn't say that already.

In any case. There was another REALLY stupid incident. I was walking and looked the other way (Maybe towards a crush when I was like 10.) And I walked umm... Private parts first into a small fence post. x.x Ouch.
