I haven't made a game yet, but I have messed around now and again in a variety of programs to make fun little small things. If that counts :P

Haha, no worries, I understand.
I'm currently still busy with a lot of drawing projects, putting in a game any time soon isn't going to happen, but it's on the planning to some day get there though!

Anyways, good luck searching for someone who makes games. If anything, if they need/want another artist on board, feel free to contact me :P

I've been working on a game (on and off) and have other game ideas, (one started, almost finished, but never ended up doing it)

The game I started making last year I made with 3 other friends, I was the lead. It was a maze game where you played a particle and used concepts derived from quantum mechanics to solve classically impossible mazes. It was good but we got diverged by one of our members and the project fell through, thinking of starting it up again at some stage.

The game I'm currently working on is more of a passion project than a game, it's a game that in a way I never really intend to release, but something I intend to work on for a very long time. Basically it's a sci-fi RPG top-down shooter, based in a universe that I've been building since I was 5. I've worked on it for 3 months and then have had a break since uni started again, but will get back into it soon. I currently have a quest system, inventory system, a basic map (for the first world), combat system, basic weapons, basic enemies, enemy spawners, dialogue system, and so forth. A lot of the structure is there, what I need to focus on right now is perfecting the combat system, making it fun.

I describe the games mechanics as "Imagine the original fallouts (fallout 1 and 2) with the combat of Crimsonland (or alien swarm if you don't know crimsonland)). Basically it's a top down shooter, open world quest-driven sci-fi RPG. You go to different "hubs" which are several large maps filled with quests, each hub represents a planet or a location on a planet (the hubs usually are only a small section of the planet). You do quests, participate in challenges, go on hunting sprees, meet new aliens, collect items, level up and so forth. The game is story-driven but because of the top-down shooter style will offer a unique combination of "endless waves of enemies" and "political intrigue" like quests. It will actually be quite fun if I imagine it correctly, imagine going from just being able to defeat a few enemies at a time, to near the end literally having hundreds of enemies on one screen charge at you and you mowing them down with your power. It has "magic" (but scientifically explained) elements, as well as knowledge-based elements, it may even have an RTS-like minigame in it but haven't decided fully whether to implement that yet.

The setting of the game is relatively complex but in a nutshell is this. Humanity has gained space travel, however earth is destroyed (not completely, but it is basically uninhabitable), only a few remainder of humanity are left occupying a small star-system in the corner of the galaxy. Despite humans small numbers they're still civil wars between humans, humans also have migrated to other races and thus become relatively wide-spread, over 30% of humanity are refugees to other races, living among them. The two major races that exist besides humanity are the Xenox and the Symbias, who are preparing to go to war with each other. The Xenox represent a nomadic conglomerate with no real unified government, however they act in unison through exchanges with different "nation" leaders, they are the most populated race, with more numbers than any other race in this area of the galaxy. Symbias, however, are the most powerful, they are sort of the opposite of the Xenox, with many races living under the one banner in a unified government. Lead by the mysterious and otherworldy "Minders", a majority of their ranks are made up of "Troopers" (these were names made by humans) who are also known as "C's" because of their rank in the Symbias hierarchy (They are third highest). Troopers have an inherently submissive nature and are generally not as intelligent as humans or Xenos, but they do surprise with some Troopers (such as Arkios, one of the main protagonists/antagonists (depending on your alligences) in the game) taking up leadership rolls. Strikers make up the 2nd in command and are extremely intelligent and powerful (though not very numerous) creatures, who often get into political struggles with the Minders.

One of the central themes of the game is the war between the Xenox and Symbias, in which you can play a pivotal role in. Basically the Symbias is the ones who destroyed earth and drove humanity to near extinction, they did so to gather resources so they could stop trade with the Xenox. The Xenox are preparing to invade that sector so they can monopolize on the resources there and weaken the Symbias's dominance over the galaxy. Meanwhile a splinter group of humanity, known as the United Military Front (keep changing the name though), who possess the largest army that the humans have, want to attack both sides once the war is near conclusion and steal the territory back for the humans. You have to decide what side to go to, you can either side with Arkos and let the Symbias maintain control of the sector in exchange for great reward for the player but at great cost to humanity as a whole. Have the Xenox take the Sector and get an alliance with the humans,  strengthening the humans as a political player but also creating a possibly shaky alliance. Or you can help the splinter group with their charismatic general in retaking the sector for humanity, though seemingly a good idea, a short sighted one as the outlook for humanity holding onto the territory seems dim (and this also increases hostility towards humanity).

The actual story for the player is basically this. You grow up on a farming world with your family, you and your brother go out hunting one night and come across a mysterious stone, upon touching the stone you fall unconscious and wake up realizing you have amazing reality-warping powers. You go back to your house but to only find out that it is burned down and your family killed, your brother is still alive but he has been captured by mysterious agents, you go on a quest throughout the galaxy to find your brother, working across species and races, vanquishing or joining cults, settling wars and maybe even discovering the origin of the universe.

Holy sweet wall of text batman! sounds kool though, thinking of doing a choice based rpg based on the Rp i'm running in the big kids section.

I've several times gotten into making an RPG Game with heavy emphasis on choices, either leading you down a path of darkness or light. With the Dark path being canon to the next game in the series (I love Darker stories) but I always lose my flare for it along the way, partly to do with me being busy with other things, but more so because I run out of filler things. An Artist for tiles and the like is something I've always needed, but haven't quite had.

Not really making a game but I am part of a team (I'm not that important but I do some stuff) that works  on an huge mod for GTA V.
It would replace the whole map with the map of a Belgian city called ghent, the project is called Ghent Theft Auto

I'm better in creating story to be honest, but only to a certain degree, and if given the time (and patience that I usually don't have) I can start to learn basic programming to an extent before my mind goes "Nawp, too difficult, not gonna even bother trying to understand that." and I'm sitting here like: What the heck brain? Don't stop now!

I've screwed around with very simple Lua within Minecraft's Computercraft mod, but beyond that nothing major. I might look into Python though. What would it's main limitations be?

well i a cinema arts student, i learn how to write script, everything has a scrip. example: NPC 1 goes to the shop entrence looking towords it, puts his right hand in his pocket and gets out a large golden key, he puts the key in the lock, and opens the door.
this is a rough example.

Ok, as things go i cannot  do art at this  time  due too computer  destruction.

I Have 3 persons in mind for a project  if you all are willing  too give it a shot, i would  have  to  take  a  coordinator  role in project.

It would  be a simple starter  project  just  too see how we work  together.

I'm slowly learning GML. I haven't made anything presentable yet, but I do plan on making a decent two-three hour RPG and sell it for like five dollars or host it on Kongergate once I buy the GML engine. (Right now I have a free copy.) Once I figure out how to do the battle sequence, changing rooms and doing dialogue (Which shouldn't be too bad since my favorite GML teacher has put up a tutorial for all of it.) If it gains a touch of popularity I'll make a full game out of it.  (Unfortunately I have to start from scratch, and relearn a lot of things. Now that I've been stuck in Japan for a month and 10 days I have no clue how to do things ;-;)

I got permission from PossumDeMort to be the manager of sorts!

So... who is still interested in being in a furry game-making team, and what would you like to do in said team?

Me and Possum agree it's a good idea to first start off making something small. Maybe walk in a house or the like.
But then we also need to figure out what type of gamestyle, etc. we'll be using, I think? Like, will it be in 2D or 3D? Will it be a visual novel, or a platformer for example? Etc.

Post what you want to do in the team, and what your qualities and experiences are :)
Let's see if we can start something up! o3o

Here's the questionnaire:

1) Would you like to partake in a (furry) team to make a game?
2) What are your qualities/specialties/experiences? (Art, Story, Coding, etc.)
If you can, mention more than just one quality you have.

(For people coding.making the actual game part: )
3) What style of game could you make? (2D/3D?)
4) What type of game style could you make? (platform, visual novel, etc.)

Title: Re: Game makers?
Post by: Shoon on August 14, 2016, 05:55:00 PM
1) Would you like to partake in a (furry) team to make a game? yes, i would love to.
2) What are your qualities/specialties/experiences? (Art, Story, Coding, etc.): as a cinema student in a art school i learn and already know script writing ceracter creating, story writing,  and what not, i know quite a bit of code but sadly only html css java script and the surrounding area but i understand other launguges mostly, I'm very good with designing and building a world, i know how to plan and orginaize things but not people usually, i also know how to work with photoshop. I'm good with a team and can be a gaet helper, i have experience with making movies, websites, narrating, music, designing, hyping, and creating worlds characters storys and making sure things aren't over powerd.
3) What style of game could you make? (2D/3D?) as a begging a 2d game is easier but if we can make a 3d game, it will be so much better.
4) What type of game style could you make? all, a co-op story driven rpg could be cool, but with a a fighting system like a mmo but with free aim.

Me! Me! I'm working on a game for the Nintendo Entertainment System!
It's going to be a side-scroller shoot'em up game, starring my fursona, fighting agains evil water-mice! (Because he's a fire-cat himself)
I've done some black magic to get some nice things out of the system (like parallax scrolling) with very little outside help in the game cartridge. The only extra hardware is there to extend the base 32kB Program ROM space to 64kB... for the record, it was pretty common by the end of the system's life to have 256 or 512kB of Program ROM.
I have a little screenshot here for you to see!

I moved some code around to make sure that the music wouldn't slow down in case of future lag... this however, has caused some shared temporary RAM conflicts between the sound driver and the screen drawing code... finding the source of this problem was quite something... this has been a busy day.

Is it safe to say that we got a small team then going on?
Here is everyone and the 'jobs' that I briefly saw everyone mention as I write this:

-Baud  -  coding
-shoon  -  story writing, world and character designing
-Vuurniac  -  coding
-Ventus (me)  -  management (I guess? xD), I suppose arting up some characters and the like could be done as well by me (and shoon?). What do you think?

I surely think it's awesome to already have two coders on the team.

Vuurniac, would you care to fill in the questionnaire, so I can get a bit more information from you? ;P

There hasn't been many replies or feedback for a while. Anyone still interested in doing this besides me (and Baud)? :)

And does anyone have an idea how much time it ill take them to work on things?
I'm thinking of finally setting up a planning of sorts as a guideline. I think it would really help to get this thing up and running. Perhaps that was the problem.

Awesome to hear from you two :D

@Kylethefox: What do you prefer? RPG Maker or Blender?
If you do happen to say RPG Maker, I have the program myself, never tried it out (been meaning to for a few years), but I'm a quick learner. Soif you'd like to work together on there, we can?

@Shoon: Cool :D

I think it's time to at least startup with a schedule of some sorts. A general guideline when we can finish what. Delays and such are fine, but I feel some form of deadline would help move this a bit forward.
It's probably best to come up with a very short story we can work on and develop on further if need be. Something that's not too large, so we can see if we can get through this properly and if we like working with each other x)
Anyone have an idea for a short story?

Awesome to see you two (Baud and kylethefox) getting along so well! ^^
So do you think you two are able to work things out code/programming-wise and such?
And any idea for planning you have in mind? (As in, how fast do you think you can and want to get things done?)

I need to check which RPG Maker I have specifically, I'll update you on the version :)

As of which, once again: What short story or concept shall we work on?

Title: Re: Game makers?

I think unity might be better, and maybe we can make a game about a furry who is transfers to a world of furries. Heck, all the main characters can be us!
Title: Re: Game makers?
Post by: Ventus Fall on November 21, 2016, 07:30:26 PM
I think, considering Baud and kylethefox both seem to want to work with RPG Maker and seems easiest for most people, we can go with that. Unless anyone has any further input on the matter?

As for a story, that sounds awesome, Shoon. I'm just afraid that might turn into a long story. We need some small objective or short story to follow first.
We need to try this out, see how we all work together on a small project before starting on a larger project, right? ^^

totally agree! i have some experience with 3D modeling but not in unity in bkender, as for the story i think itsva great idea!! and as for time, im homeschooled and basically have all the time in the world!!
Title: Re: Game makers?
Post by: Shoon on November 21, 2016, 08:38:45 PM
Ventus, I think you should create a discord/skype group for this where all the writers can discuss a story. And as for the length, We can make short adventure prologue type thing for each character and see how it goes.
Title: Re: Game makers?
Post by: kylethefox on November 21, 2016, 08:43:34 PM
that might not be a good idea, because i dont have a phone and im unable to get apps! (sorry) im using a ps vita right know! XD
Title: Re: Game makers?
Post by: Shoon on November 21, 2016, 08:44:55 PM
Huh, but to code you must have a PC or a mac, which means you can get skype or discord or anyother thing.
Title: Re: Game makers?
Post by: Ventus Fall on November 21, 2016, 08:46:15 PM
Ahh, I can understand if that could be quicker to discuss, but I don't use Discord. As for Skype, I can't deal with groups on there, besides that, I barely use Skype to begin with. So far discussing these things have been going well on here, and it's easier (for me at least) to read back who said what and when :)
Besides, Skype hasn't ever worked for me when discussing group projects, let's just keep it at that.

That sounds a lot better with regards to the prologue. I mean, if it works we can always continue with other parts (sequels, as it were). Any rough ideas you have currently, Shoon?

I have lots of ideas. I tell you what, I can write a short story (not script) for myself (it will be a shortened version) and send to you this or next week, if it goes good I will move to the next person which will probably be you and after that everyone else, once we have story sketches for everyone we can decide who is first turn that into a script and move that to the animation team. Meanwhile code team can work on an engine and software and stuff with an artist or 2 that can make temporary art if need be.
Sounds good?

I have lots of ideas.

That all sounds good! :)
If you like to write something up and have many ideas, I'll be happy to read it. Who or what will be the main character for now? Or shall we work on one character first as a prologue and idea, and then work towards incorporating more characters (which are also main characters) to eventually get them all together?

I'll see if I can somewhere post clearly what software/coding/etc. we'll be working with, and who does what, I think that would help a bunch ^-^

Yep, I like this plan! So we're going to update each other on the forums?

So far most, if not all of us so far have agreed to this :)
So yes~
