Title: SERIOUS Art Feedback Thread (Read First Post)
Post by: PossumDeMort on June 07, 2016, 12:37:18 AM
Alright so the Purpose of this Thread to to create a place for artists to get SERIOUS feedback. People on these forums are very nice, so when somebody comes forward looking for things to improve with their art, they rarely get constructive feedback, it's mostly “looking great!” and “well done”.

I want this to be the place where those who create art of any medium and post their work and others will take a serious moment to examine and give suggestions from issues they may have seen, dont be afraid of saying what needs to be said but also no being a jerk lol.

So if you wish to post and get real feedback here is a few things to know for both artist and commenter:
1. The purpose of this is serious feedback, so artists expect to have your feelings hurt, but if you comment provide constructive criticism and avoid comments like “Durr u suk”.
2. Artists, only what you post here will be commented on, and commenters only comment upon what is posted.
3. Commenters when possible provide links and examples to what improvement you are trying to recommend.
4. Commenters don't forget to also state what you did like about a work so an artist knows they are doing that well.
5. And all normal forum rules apply.

So i'll post a recent one to get us started! Any questions and such shoot me a message.

OK so to start out here's my art for feedback! i'm using a link cause the forums wont allow large files.

possum  i believe what your art needs improvement on is its shadowing (shading and highlights), you do have a bit in you art..but it could use more dynamic shadowing in the clothing and i think if you made more defined details that would help too

like adding wrinkles and creases in the cloths or adding details into the eyes or try to get in multiple strokes for the fur to make it look more like fur, and for that picture the only comment i have is that the tail should be thicker at the base, removing that odd dip it does

for the multiple lines for fur you mean as the outline or as the texture in the color?

the texture ..thats the word to get good texture i usually use different tints and shades of the same color and alos remember a shadow is never actually black just a very dark version of the color of the object that cast the shadow

some of the added material needs extra cleanup like the guys hair in the 1st and 4th picture, and flatter backgrounds like the first one make everything stand out as "pasted on"

the 3rd picture is great cause the light source matches pretty much and the background contrasts well while the bus doesn't stand out in a bad way.

the forth seems to be missing a little on the right and more seems to be happening on the left.

maybe try doing some themed ones, like a toaster destroying paris, so everything is toaster related.

not sure if the 2nd or 3rd will be my new background...

Thanks for the feedback.
It's just something I do in my sparetime so possibly I won't come to the fase where I can deflect reality  :P

But with more themed pictures, do you mean something like this? (I know it is bad, I just want a reference)

yeah thats wat i mean, kinda an over all message going on ya know or a story that make people stop and look to figure it out instead of discounting it as randomness

Thanks for that  :)

(randomness is a bit of my style: I like being impulsive and most of the time I am just curious where I am going to get with it)

rando is good, its more if you want people to notice your art a few "arty pieces" helps grab attention.
