Hey everyone!
Now, I've just come back from watching an incredible movie, and it inspired me to say this. Now, you can ignore this if you want, or you can take it in any way you please, plus I don't want to sound too much of a preacher, but I just felt a need for it to be said:
God's not dead!
-
And what movie moved you to say this?
-
Well, conveniently enough, the movie is also called "God's not dead" :)
-
Oh. I see. So you're just reiterating the movies title?
-
Well, the movie was about a christian guy coming to a high school, where he had an atheistic philosophy teacher who discriminated his christianity (and christianity in general) a lot. The movie was about the guy proving him wrong, and some other stuff. Just like he did, I just felt like spreading the message :)
-
I see, as I appreciate your message but are you Christian?
-
Well, that's good.
And yes, I am. I have been it for all of my life, and plans to being it for the rest of it too, and into the afterlife!
-
Oh wow good for you! That's a BIG commitment! So what are your beliefs?
-
Well, thank you! Now, I won't say I'm one of those people that's crazy about going to church every Sunday, or praises the lord loudly for every little thing that goes right, but I've grown up with it, and now it's just sorta in my brain that... well, I just believe that he is true. Now, I don't like people pressing their beliefs on others, so I won't do that either. I guess that answered the question?
-
I guess. Well, I'm glad to hear other people's point of view, since mine can't be the only one, of course.
-
People become Athiests for two reasons. Thanx for expanding on that answer Ulvus. I just wondered what specific beliefs you have.
-
Yeah, I know. And you're welcome, I just want to answer what I'm asked :)
-
It's rare to find someone who's outspoken like this, I applaud you for that. This subject used to be a civil one we could all discuss but NOW it's like committing a crime!
-
Hey, thank you! It means a lot to me that you think that! :)
And yeah, religion definitely seems to be a really controversial thing nowadays, but I'm not afraid to express my faith. I mean, if anyone doesn't like me because of my faith, so be it. They can feel what they want.
-
That's because 99.9% of them do not follow (exactly) what the bible teaches.
-
Yeah, exactly. I mean, I don't follow the bible 100% either, it's next to impossible. Also, it's impossible to not break some of the few rules it sets, but that's why it feels so amazing to believe in a god that forgives everything you do, no matter how bad it is. It feels really relieving, you know? :)
-
What rules?
I imagine it is a relief.
-
Well, despite there being a lot of talk about religion being really restricting, there're only really two rules in Christianity: Love your God with all of your heart, and love your neighbour like you love yourself. He basically says "Love God with all of your heart, and treat others how you want to be treated". Those are besically the only rules in the bible, at least for the Christian path I believe in.
-
Ok. So then does this (second rule) apply to people over seas or just those in our country?
-
Well, it counts for everyone in the world. The Danish translation uses a word that I couldn't really find a better translation of than neighbour, but it basically means the people around you, or everyone in general.
-
Oh alright. Then what religions remain neutral during war?
-
Uhh... well, I know that Jehova's Witnesses does, I think. Also, mormons, I guess. Christians don't, though. Well, I'm gonna call it a night. I'll see you later.
-
Oh ok. Night.
