Does anyone by any chance know of a place to get parts for a Good Housekeeper (not Good HousekeepING) sewing machine? I've searched online but haven't found much. The plastic gear behind the stitch selector dial broke when it was cleaned, and since it was bought used in.. I think she said 1943... the cleaner couldn't find a replacing gear for it. :P
My new Janome HD-1000 machine keeps messing up with sewing my fursuit (it lasted okay-ish with my first one, but I had to take it in already for my second one, and the needle keeps hitting the metal plate covering the bobbin since I need to manually pull the fur through through. I bought a walking foot but I'm still having trouble with putting it on.), but my Good Housekeeper doesn't whine or anything (and hasn't broken 26 needles :P)... it's just I can barely fit two layers of fur under the pressure foot, and I can't find a way to lift it up any higher. And not being able to change the stitch pattern also sucks.
Soooooo any information is appreciated!
Here's a picture of her if anyone has seen one around, I'll take a better one later on.

You might want to check around local antique places/flea markets/yard sales. Sometimes they have these things just lying around, probably not often since it's quite an old sewing machine but it seems it could be worth a try. If not try more modern parts that could fit it as well.
