Title: Greetings Forumites
Post by: Sev on April 25, 2016, 12:26:57 AM

As I no longer dwell on the southern most point of the African continent, my fursona and I are braving the great unknown that is the extra-South African forum for friends and companionship.

I am a software developer who is currently stationed in Yuma, Arizona. I have a decent spread of hobbies, which include listening to and playing metal, rocketing motorcycles on tracks and through mountain passes, and, of course, this fine fandom.

While I used to play Battlefield for one of the top clans in South Africa, I have since relaxed on that front. These days, you'll more likely find me waging war against everyone in a Total War game. I have been playing this franchise since Rome I came out back in 2004. From it has arisen a love of classical history and culture.

Severus Alexander Montgomery, my fluffy alter ego, is an exaggerated extension of his creator. He is a 6'1", 160 pound anthro snow leopard. He speaks with an urban Australian (a country that had a massive impact on me) accent, and has an obsession with the legendary Casey Stoner. Unlike his creator, who simply attends track days, he actually races motorcycles. During trackdays, he chases down liter bikes with his VFR 1200 sport touring bike, which he flings around corners like I would my smallest bike, an RVF 400.

He is the me unaffiliated by Asperger's and bouts of depression; the person who I in many ways aspire to be.

Anyway, I look forward to interacting with you guys.

Welcome to the forums!
And awesome introduction, nice to add a picture as well ^^

Just curious: Have you always affiliated with a snow leopard?

I've always been a "feline" (you can blame Morrowind and the Khajiit for that).

A few years ago, I decided that I needed to choose something less generic. I was torn between a White Tiger and a Snow Leopard, but since I am fairly lithe, the Snow Leopard seemed the more appropriate choice.

And thank you.

Generally, I prefer to stick to the "safety" of my intro thread before venturing out into the greater forum.

I would appreciated at least a few more responses.

Ah, ok :D (And hehe, I'm happy to hear actually that a game had such an effect on you x3)

Wel that sounds like an interesting decision you had there. May I just say, I think you chose well ;D  But of course, if you ever associate yourself more with a Tiger, I'll be just as happy to see you as such ^^

I hope I can help with that then by replying to your messages like so :P  However, I would like to add: The community here is rather open and don't feel afraid to post anywhere else. It's ok ^^
When I first came here, and wanted to try out to delve into rp more, I decided to simply go to the Training Grounds board. I don't know if you already have any specific interests where you would like to venture out to?

I'm not doubting the friendliness of the forum, it's just that it's less overwhelming thank jumping into the middle of an existing thread.
When starting a thread, people respond one at a time, which helps me size them up a bit better.

So you're now a know entity, and someone that I will recognize when interacting with the greater forum.

That makes a lot of sense x3
When you do feel a lot more comfortable exploring the rest, posting in other places, and you have any questions, feel to to ask or send me a PM ^^

It's not the end of the world, but it does make social interaction very different.

In my early days, I was a complete loner. Since I started suffering from clinical depression, I have sought out social interaction as a means of coping.

It worked for two years, but now I'm sitting alone in the US. My former partner doesn't want to talk to me, and everyone else is moving on with their lives.

Heck, feel free to PM me, if anything. I don't mind to chat/talk ^^

If you don't mind me asking, what is a "Lahaian"? Google returns no relevant results.

Just a species of my own design. Part white Bengal tiger, part Clydesdale horse, part red panda, part elf, part kirin, and all moxie. But enough about me. This is your thread :)

I see.

And the point of this thread is to acquaint myself with some of the people on this forum, as well as allowing people to acquaint[/size] themselves with me.

Welcome aboard, Sev!

Enjoy your time on the forum, lots of other furs to chat with and threads to compare other hobbies.

I'm into bikes too but pretty much all motocross. I don't race anymore but it sure was fun back before I got myself banged up pretty bad xD If you want to try racing one day, I say go for it but be careful. You don't need to be competitive to have fun but you'll always want to go fast ;)

Severus is a total badass, I love his gear!

I don't particularly care about the whole sub-genre thing; I guess that you could say that my favorite depends on my mood at the time.

Sometimes I feel like listening to deathcore, other times, I'll settle for something far more mellow.

Bands that I am particularly fond of:

Amon Amarth
As I Lay Dying
Breaking Benjamin
Dimmu Borgir
Disturbed
Five Finger Death Punch
In Flames
Kamelot
Lamb of God
Rammstein
Slipknot
Soilwork
Three Days Grace
Whitechapel

As you can see, I listen to pretty much anything that falls under the metal umbrella.

Lots of great bands though, I listen to them on occasion. Recently I been listening to Death Metal. My favorite bands are on my profile.

I tend to dislike "pure" death metal.

Sure, I'll occasionally listen to Dying Fetus, by I much prefer melodic death metal bands.

Also, I cannot believe that I forgot to mention Scar Symmetry.

Also, Demiurge by Mesuggah. That song is intimately associated with a guitarist that I used to play with who ended up being killed in a car accident. Every time that I listen to it, it leaves me in a very weird emotional state.

Death Metal and also Viking Metal/Folk Metal are my main genres.

Scar Symmetry are really goood band.

In my case, I tend to listen a lot to bands whose songs I enjoy playing on guitar.

I've never really been able to get into playing death metal.

That being said, I really enjoy playing some of its derivative genres like Deathcore.

A Future Corrupt FTW!

Do you currently play anything?

And I also forget Opeth...
