Okay guys so writing has been on my mind for a very long time and something I have just really wanted to do.
I just want some advice on how I should go about doing this I have a story all idea but I'm not too sure how to continue. I'd like some advice from a author/writer on here on how they actually go about in making an interesting and exciting story to start me off.

I'd say write down everything you think... as random as it can get for about 10 mins then pick subjects and try making something out of it...

Well, I'm not a writer per say, I do a story on here though. For me the start should be simple, just imagine a normal day, write something about it. Where are we? What's the time? What's the weather? The one I did came pretty fast, I like it though.
"The rain started falling from the sky"
Just a day to day situation. Is anything different about that particular day though?
"Mages made sure to inform all the citizens about the weather schedule for this week."
Ahh, so there are mages right? They messing with the weather? Why?
"The farmers from around the city were asking for rain since two weeks ago. The summer was dry"
So, you have a rough idea about the situation around. Then a bit more of a description, buildings, animals?
Then there's the main part:
"Yet there were more pressing matters for the Archmage and the Circle"
Then you go on from there.
Further on it's up to you if you make it interesting. As Proto taught me:
Don't tell, show.
Make the actors move, not only speak.
Keep some stuff a secret, I have these things called Sources, I haven't told anything more than a couple of sentences about them, feels like I shouldn't because it keeps them a bit of a mystery when you read it. Okay, it's condensed magic. But why is it important, how powerful it is? Didn't say too much about it yet on part seven.
And the last thing: Make some notes about the characters, how do they look, how do they behave. Try creating an unique personality for each of them.
I hope at least a thing or two are of use to you, I'll check out the story when it comes! Even if at the beginning it feels like it's not yet perfect don't be afraid to show it anyway. Me and Proto will for sure point out stuff, correct mistakes, tell you what we like and what we don't. And then the second part will be better. And the third one even more so.
Last word from me: don't think you're bad at writing. I did. One of the biggest mistakes of my life. And enjoy the time in your world. I hope I will too! Good luck!
