Title: Greetings.
Post by: Silaluk on February 27, 2016, 04:09:59 AM

Uh, hi. My name is Silaluk.
It's a name that means "storm" in my native language, though most name websites will tell you it's "Inuit".

Yes, I'm an Alaskan Native, and please don't ever call me Inuit, because it's actually more offensive to say than Eskimo, despite what many people believe.

If you couldn't tell, I'm very proud of my heritage. I mean, how often do people get to meet an Eskimo? Needless to say, I get asked a lot of questions. I do get easily offended at things like culture insensitivity, or the glorification of mine or another's culture for the sake of writing or creation, but I guess I should get used to it, haha.

I've been a furry since forever. I have a very strong connection with animals and nature because they're vital factors of my culture.

Besides browsing online, I love to hike, camp, hunt, and sled with my dogs. I have a team of seven dogs and one wolf-dog. I sled only for recreation and I honestly have no aspirations to participate in the challenge of the Iditarod. I also love to read and I play a few video games, but not very much anymore.

Want to know more about me? You'll just have to ask. <3

Hi!

@Firox: There isn't much where I live at all, unless you're a nature person, haha. The closest corporate consumer enterprise is a 7-Eleven about two hours away from here.

@Alex: I like Legend of Zelda and Pokemon. Only video games I was really allowed to have anyway, heh.

I do sometimes struggle to make sure my animals get all of the love they deserve, but usually they're content with just staying by my side.

Prefer nature over living in the middle of the city

Hi, and thank you Zinski!

@Firox: It gets boring over here after a while though, and my neighbors aren't very fond of my people, though they don't say it to my face.
But living here does have it's upsides, like how I can see thousands of stars at night and the air is very clean here.

I get what you mean.
After a while I'm sure it gets lonely
I guess I find it interesting since all I known has been urban living, did spend a week with relatives living in Oregon out in the deep woods, their home far away from other homes, only a dirt road leads to their home. I fell in love with that scenery.
I don't get to see that many stars in the middle of the city.
