Title: The Trenches
Post by: Rayle on November 07, 2007, 12:36:57 AM
*Rayle kept her head down as she ran down the trench, towards the thich smoke roiling from where the shell hit. She swore under her breath, her rifle slapping her in the back as she vaulted over a collapsed beam*

Jesus, right on top of a medic bay!

*She turned the last bend, then gasped as she saw the destruction. A huge black crater adorned the ground where a row of beds used to be. Gore covered the muddy walls of the trench. A fox stared up from the ground, gurgled once, then died, blood leaking heavily from his destroyed leg. She stood there, shivering. Finally, she plucked up the courage to walk over the body, up to another feebly twitching fur. She lifted the fur up, cringing as her hands became covered with arterial blood*

Hold on, a medic is on it's way! MEDIC!

*Her calls faded away as the noise of constant shelling and rifle fire drowned it out. The fur in her hands, a female wolf, started to convulse. Her eyes rolled into the back of her head and a thin film of bloody foam started to appear around her lips"

MEDIC!

Lythis crawled from under some debris: a shattered medical supply locker, his helmet scratched, but the cross was still plainly visible. Other then then a couple of minor cuts and bruises, he seemed unharmed. "Christ on a pogo stick! this is a med bay! Are they INSANE!? The Geneva convention was put int effect for a reason!" He looked around, grabbing a med pack and was checking the nearby bodies, finding all of them dead. He heard a call for a medic from a short distance away. He leaps into action, vaulting over a pile of debris. As he reached Rayle, he spotted the injured wolf, recognizing it as a patient that he had treated for a bullet to the leg previously. He instantly cleared a bed of a dead soldier, and shouted quickly, "Put her down, quick and gentle! ..Shrapnel..."

*Rayle strained and slowly lifted the patient, carefully laying her on the bed. She nodded at the medic*
Start fixing, i'll check for incoming...
*She climbed up the side of the blackened wall, positioning her K98 carefully, scoping*
3, incoming...Volksgrenadiers...
*She sighted on the first one, ignoring the hatred in his eyes. She slowly stroked the trigger, then pushed hard. Her rifle bucked, and a loud bang emitted from the rifle. Sighting again in the aftermath, she spotted the splattered remains of the target*
Medic, you got a minute tops before they storm us. Get to it!

"Get me two minutes, minimum!" he quickly made an assessment, and went to work. one hand reached into her neck and pinched the opened artery shut while he stuck a pair of needles in her, one a concoction of painkillers and the other an anticonvulsant. After a few seconds, she stopped convulsing and he went to work, suturing up the various parts inside the neck that were damaged, and stitched it shut in a hurry. He covered it in a bandage, and shouted over, "I don't know if this'll saver her, but I've done what I can. I need to see if I can't salvage some more supplies." He ran back to the shattered cabinet, and found some vials , pills, and needles that were usable, as well as more bandages. He rushed back, saying, "I think I got all we can. Let's get her somewhere safe, even though this place was supposed to be..." He stuffed the supplies carefully and quickly into the little case , and slung it's strap over his shoulder, then carefully lifted the wounded fur, cradling her head so the neck wasn't bending far enough to reopen the wound he had just finished closing. "Don't you dare die on me." he whispered to her.

*Rayle reloaded her rifle, then pointed to her left*
Go, that way. They're regrouping in command. Take her there and fix whoever you can up. I'll join you later...
*Rayle removed a pinapple from her belt, pulling the pin*
Go!

The medic shook his head, saying, "But that's at least an hours walk, We need to keep her stable, or we risk opening her wound again and losing her. Just carrying her is a risk in and of itself. Is there a vehicle left?" He wasn't straining while carrying her. He was used to carrying the injured in the field, after all, that's where he started before he got moved to a med-bay, and her light frame wasn't all that hearty. He started heading to the exit, picking his way over the debris carefully.

*Rayle threw the pineapple, then shouted"
Head Down!
*A muffled boom echoed across the landscape, followed by a scream of pain. Rayle checked her scope again, gave a satisfied nod, then turned back to the medic*
Good, we have a bit of time. No medic, there are no vehicles left...but I can get one. Can you shoot?

The medic steadied himself when the grenade went off, facing away to protect the injured fur. When he was asked about firing a weapon, he visibly paled, shaking his head, "No... I'm a doctor not a soldier! The most dangerous thing I've used is a scalpel. Besides, I can't. I've taken an oath to do no harm. To anyone. That's what was supposed to keep those nut jobs from shelling the med bay. They've just pissed of the whole UN doing this, now let's go, I don't want to have to stitch you up too."

*Rayle shakes her head, muttering under her breath*
I've already been patched up. Look, see that red smoke? You understand what that is? That is a artillery signal flare. They are going to creep artillery across this trench. We have about 5 minutes. Where can we go? Where do you want to go?
*Rayle suddenly sights again, then falls back as a snarling pitbull leapt over the trench wall, tackling her to the ground"

http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j82/molinamaniac/imvu%20stuff/nyxgargoyle.png <---Keyi.

The gargoyle swooped down noticing the three furs, mainly the one being attacked by a pitbull. Her wings were tattered from dodging bullets and extreme flight, but hey... That's only what you can expect when you're a messenger. She landed alongside the two, throwing the pit to one side and perking her ears as it yelped when it hit a pile of debris. "What are you two soldiers doing out here alone?" She questioned showing no emotion... It's what she'd learned to do. Through all the bloodshed she'd seen, she was sure that it was impossible to feel anything anymore. "All the others have retreated. You better get a move on." She adjusted her helmet with authority, but it was obvious it wasn't hers. She wore minimal armor, which made her vulnerable on the ground... But since her aerial grace made up for it, it did not matter. The armor she had was stolen from soldiers who no longer needed it.

*Rayle drew her Luger and shot the pitbull, blood exploding onto the wall behind it. She holstered her Luger, then looked up at the newcomer*
Lady, I want to go. I'm waiting for the medic here to make decision! LOOK OUT!
*Rayle unholstered her Luger again and fired twice, the shots grazing past the gargoyles face to slam into the chest of the diving gryphon about to swoop her*

Keyi stepped to the side to allow the Gryphon to nosedive into the ground. When it began twitching from the shots delivered, she stepped on the neck hard enough to crack it. "Nice shot, and my name's Keyi. Not lady." She said, her tone still cold and emotionless. Turning to the medic, she noted, "I suggest you make your decision fast. The enemy is merciless... They will not wait because a soldier is on the verge of dying."

*Rayle shook her head*
Jesus, is everybody a smartass in this war?
*She stood up, then looked down at her leg*
Oh...
*A piece of shrapnel had pierced her pants, embedding itself into her thigh. Blood was flowing steadily from the wound. She reached down, and with a muffled yelp, pulled the piece of twisted metal out of her leg. Casting it away, she knelt beside the gryphon, and started ruffling through it's pockets*

By this time 'the medic' was a little upset. "I'm no soldier, I'm a doctor, a surgeon!" He nodded his head, showing the red cross on his white helmet. While he spoke, he continued picking his way over debris carefully, reaching the exit with his charge in his arms. It was at that tie he saw Rayle pull out the shrapnel, he huffed, "I told you I didn't want to have to stitch you up too, now come on!"

Rayle spun and grabbed the medic, staring coldly into his eyes
Listen, Medic, I don't want this guy to die either. But it's better he dies then all of us. Now we have about 2 minutes before those shells hit, so you need to lead the way NOW. Forget my wound, it's fine. Just, lead us alright?

((Lythis never gave his name...and I've only referenced it once in his first action. Edit your post.))

The medic didn't flinch, replying in monotone, "Fine." He led them out the back silently. There were no forces to speak of outside, but no vehicles either. He started off in the direction of the Command Post without waiting for them.

*Rayle followed, not checking to see if the gargoyle is following. She suddenly vaults towards the medic and throws him to the ground.*
Rocket!
*The rocket from a panzerfaust sails overhead, heading into the trench where they just left. A huge boom, followed by a flash from the trench*

Post by: Goblin Cat 😸 on November 08, 2007, 11:29:17 AM
Keyi dove down to avoid the rocket as the others had. She was only walking on foot because she hardly had the strength to fly; but she showed no signs of fatigue. Deciding that it would be best to get to a command post to rest, she followed the others. Her tail swayed with slight annoyance for the dying soldier the medic held. That wolf will be the death of us if we keep this up. she thought to herself as she kept trudging along.

"Careful!", He hissed. He got up carefully, and picked up the pace. "...Thanks. I Appreciate you not letting me take that to the face... hey, don't those things have a really small range?" ((Panzerfaust? What war is this based around? That thing's a relic.))

((The Trenches, World War II around about. I'm willing to be flexible and let it change ^^))
*Rayle gets to her feet, raising her rifle and shooting at the rocketeer*
Yes they do, but they can be lobbed, like shells. Now, go lead. I'll cover you.
*She turns her head slightly*
Gargoyle! Can you shoot?
Title: Re: The Trenches
Post by: Goblin Cat 😸 on November 08, 2007, 02:38:58 PM
"I can give it a try." Keyi replied. She'd been trained to shoot, but had never actually done it because she was just a mere messenger, "I've been trained to, but I've never had the need to."

*Rayle drew her Luger and threw it to the Gargoyle*
Just point and pull the trigger. You run out of ammo, call me.
*Rayle turned back to the medic*
After you medic. Whats your name anyway?

Keyi caught the gun and aimed, keeping her eyes sharp for enemies as she followed the two; her back facing them. "Will do."

*A loud shot rang out suddenly, and Rayle was pitched off her feet. The pain was terrible, and she looked at her chest blearily. Blood was slowly spreading on her uniform from her chest. She layed her head down, the world swimming around her. She managed to draw enough breath to expel one word*
S...sniper...

((ok...hold on...You have a luger? And a Panzerfaust was used on 'our' med bay? I'm confused now. Do you know history? The Panzerfaust and the Luger are both German weapons in WWII, the former's case late WWII. What side are we on? and how did you get a Luger if, I assume from our RPPing so far, we are on the allied side? Did you take it from a German officer? Really these things should be explained BEFORE an RP starts, not during, to avoid unnecessary confusion. Also, I didn't bring this up earlier, but since all this is bothering me as well, I'm bringing it up now. You are aware that the Panzerfaust has a shaped charge? It's an anti-armor weapon. not general purpose explosive.

On a second note. Since we three are in the same area, we might want to consider some kind of posting order. I was just about to post, and now I needed to change half of it. Theres' a time lag where now the first half of my post has to be posted, but there can not be an in time response because of this. You might also want to check to see if some is currently posting and hold off until they're done.))

He started walking at a good clip, just short of a jog. He responded sullenly as he carried the wounded fur carefully, "Dr. Lythis Garland, drafted. You two?" He kept a sharp eye out, but, as he has explained, he is no soldier. "If we keep up the pace we might make it to the Command Post in half the time." He glanced back, "Your leg's looking pretty bad. you should let me patch it up soon, maybe give you some of the painkillers. You're limping a little."

He heard the shot and froze, then heard Rayle hit the ground. He rushed over, and dragged her by one leg with his semi free hand over to some cover. He stopped after he thought she was safe, and set down the other wounded soldier. He took off his med pack, and started to work quickly. "Don't talk." He unbuttoned her shirt and flung it open with one hand as he pulled a long tweezer like instrument out of the pack. He smirked saying, "Just be thankful I'm ignoring my training and not just cutting the shirt off, ok?" He pulled the bullet out, tossing it to the side. He began his ministrations, which had to have been painful, since he hadn't anesthetized the area. "Good. You'll be in some severe pain, but it didn't get past your breastplate. It's going to be a bastard to breathe with it broken, but there's nothing I can do about that." He sewed it up, and then bandaged and anesthetized the area. "You! Button her shirt up again for me, I'm going to go ahead and suture up that other wound while I've got her under the knife. She'll become totally useless out here if she dies of blood loss."

"Any dead soldier is useless." Keyi muttered as she buttoned the injured fur's shirt up and scooped her up into her arms. "Name's Keyi, by the way."

Meanwhile, a lone wolf stood on a ledge overlooking the battlefield below. He shifted his MP-40 to his left paw and used his right to wipe the sweat, dirt, and grease from his brow. He then took out his binoculars and spied a couple of Allied riflemen and a medic making their way along the outskirts of the field. "A dragoness.....a skunkette...and a wolf, probably." He said to himself. Placing the binoculars back into his pack, he slowly made his way down to the three troops, hoping to stop them before they reached the other side, giving the Allies a foothold in this battle.

The medic did his best on the second would, again, not really bothering with painkillers, just suturing it closed. "Alright, now we need to get out of here, pronto. But the sniper...We're pinned until someone can take care of that thing."

After several minutes of sneaking up to the Allied troopers, the wolf took cover behind a ravaged Panzer. Peeking over the top, he managed to catch a glimpse of the skunkette tripping and falling over a dead corpse. "Clumsy frauline." He snickered, then he just sat...and waited.

She growled and looked up, lifting her head to catch some crazy furry duck behind a ravaged Panzer.

((Whatever...))

*The wolf immediatly ducked back behind the Panzer, fearing he had been spotted. He sat, and waited for the girl to jump out and gun him down. Nothing... He began to breathe a little easier, then noticed a dim light shining into his eyes. He looked closer, and realized it was the sun reflecting off a sergant's triple bars. An Allied sergant. Dead. The wolf crawled closer, and saw that the sergant's uniform was in perfect condition. Dirty, but nontheless in good shape. Suddenly, a idea popped into his head, and a small smile crept across his face. Then, as quickly as it had come, the smile faded and turned into a twisted grimace. "No." He said to himself. "No..."I can't believe that I, a SS officer who commanded in the first blitzkreig would even consider doing somthing so low." He began to ponder his situation, then with a gruff sigh began to take off his own uniform and donned the late sergant's poorly made one. "Only for mein fuhrer." He muttered.

Keyi spotted the sniper from a far... She took aim with her Luger and shot, hitting him square between the eyes. He toppled over dead. Looking to the medic, she tipped her helmet, "After you, sir." and scooped up the injured fur.

((Darius. Not 'Whatever'. That was your cue to edit your post. Do so.))

The medic didn't see the shot, so he just looked at her like he didn't believe her. "Are you sure? That's quite a shot to take, isn't it?" He was more then a little reluctant to poke out from cover. He heard a voice call, and he looked to the messenger and asked, "Friend or Not, o daring sharpshooter?"

She smiled wickedly, This was going to be way too much. It was too easy. She crawled over and puled out her dagger, silent as a brreze across newly cut grass. She let the sunlight catch it and prodded him in the back with it. "Boo." She purred.
