Title: Beyond Hallow's Grove
Post by: Kyle MaJoi on November 26, 2015, 05:34:31 PM
This is a RP about a world terrorized by undead fiends.... But with a dark twist.

In a world set in the dark ages of the Salem witch trials, a small village called Darkwood is terrorized by the Hallowed, a horrifying illness that transforms people and creatures into beastly creatures. While the nearby kingdom of the Holy Church does very little to aid Darkwood in these hard times, a group of hunters, raised from childbirth to be killers, have journeyed to the town in search for the Moonlight Crucible, a mystic tool of myth that is said to be able to heal any infliction. However, a tool of such power can only be found in the grove that cages Darkwood, The Hallow's Grove. Defend the town from monsters, make enemies with the Holy Church, find the Moonlight Crucible, and discover secrets behind the lore of the world, as well as other otherworldly presences.

Rules

*Up to Ten Players

*You can have as many characters as you want, but your main character needs to be a hunter with a reason for seeking the Moonlight Crucible.

*Magic is allowed, but you will probably be prosecuted by the Holy Church and accused of witchcraft.

*Character sheets for all of your characters :D

Enjoy, and let the hunt begin...

((Alright!, looks like we've got enough hunters to start! More people can join in if they want, also. Let the hunt begin...)

"Burn the witch!" Cried an angry voice as a crowd of flurries wearing mangy clothing who were gathered at the center of town. Welding pitchforks and torches, they circled around a young, beautiful rabbit girl in a blue dress who was tied up on a wooden stake. She looked unconscious.

The town the villagers were in was very old, being made up of shaggy buildings and dirt roads. However, the one building that looked remotely nice looking was the church, which had a quote engraved above the front door that read, "Fear the Hallow"

"One bad apple." A voice suddenly spoke, silencing the crowd of angry villagers, "One bad apple it all that it takes to ruin an entire barrel!"

It was the voice of an old raccoon, with gray fur and sunken eyes. He wore black church clothing and, like the rest of the village, had yellow teeth. He held an old, moldy apple on his hand, in which he dropped onto the ground and stomped on it with a growl. "This child has demonstrated witchcraft, and has again brought sin upon our humble town! In the name of our sacred Lord, his child must be punished! Sacrificed to the Hallow!"

With that, the town began to hear as their preacher spoke. As he spoke though, the preacher was looking up at the large clock that was on the church, and grinned as it approached midnight...

She could feel the heavy weight of the iron cross collar she wore around her neck, the symbol of her purity in this dark time, grow heavy. This town, and many like it, had been overcome by the witch-hunting craze.

Fear... she knew it too well. When she walked in to the church for the first time in her youth, the pastor and priests reeked of it. She moved through the angry mob, her brimmed had tight over her head, her armored overcoat resting over her form. As she got up to the front she saw the young rabbit, terror in her eyes. She saw no wickedness in her... yet. She needed to know for herself.

"And pray, Father," she shouted above the fervor as she stepped out of the crowd. "Is this child's sin? What witchcraft has she wrought?" she said, the trappings of a Hunter clear on her clothing.

The crowd was stunned by the fox, while the preacher leisurely turned around and grinned. "Do you question the commands of our Lord?" He asked, pulling his book out from his sleeve, "This child was caught demonstrating witchcraft, an act influenced only by the wickedness of the Hallow! And now, she will pay for this sin by being sacrificed the very thing she was worshiping!"

The crowd cheered from the preacher's words, in which one woman cried out, "Witches are the offspring of the Hallow!"

She grinned, stepping closer to the old raccoon.

"For rebellion is as the sin of divination, and insubordination is as iniquity and idolatry..." she said, quoting the scriptures of the book he held. "Tell me Father, as wise a leader as you, for what crime has she commited? What branch of witchcraft hast she used? Or has she been pulled forth for no reason other being in the wrong place at the wrong time, as many are."

She grinned, still hiding her deformities by her cloak and hat, waiting to drop her trump card on this mass if necessary. She felt the handle of her crossbow under the cloak... just in case...

"If this child had indeed committed sin, and is irredeemable, then I will put her down to myself and you can have your orgy of hatred and death."

The Doc was wandering around town when the bruning was taking place..This sadden him to see someone die..and worse yet, he can't use the corspe for his medical research. Now as he walked to the hoard of mindless fur's he saw the precher preach once more...however someone is fighting this...

Interresting..maybe now is a good time to try and help...but it would be good to watch and see were this takes, before action happens..

The preacher was silent as his smile dropped. As a sliver of sweat came down his forehead, he looked onto the crowd and saw confused faces. Would their all-knowing father give this stranger an answer? Suddenly, the preacher's thoughts were interrupted when the bunny girl began to speak through her tears.

"I... Just wanted to..." She said, whimpering, "To... s-save him..... my brother... H-he was so sick, and the preacher wasn't h-helping him."

"SILENCE, SINNER!!!" The preacher screamed in rage, pointing his boney finger at her. He looked up at the clock to see that it was almost at midnight, and grinned.

"The beast will be here, soon." He suddenly said with a twisted grin, throwing the crowd into a panic.

Dr.Zed wasn't going to let this happen..since this time he has help...or at least he hoped so..Soo tappeing his cane as he walked next to his smart girl and flicked his trench coat while his voice was muffed and had a german accsent..

"I must agree, as a man of medicine I understand what is witchcraft and what is nature.." He grinned under his mask as he took a glance at this preacher...

She frowned, noting the preacher's fear, stepping up on the platform with him.

"The beast?" she said cautiously, going on a hunch. "What beast? What kind of creature have you brought here, preacher. You lead the crowd to a frenzy right at midnight... to have a human sacrifice." she muttered under her breath, glaring at him, then turned to the crowd.

"WHICH OF YOU KNOW THIS CHILD'S WRONGDOING? SPEAK, FOR YOUR PREACHER WHO YOU TURN TO HAS LOST HIS VOICE. IF YOU CANNOT, THEN BY MY ANCIENT ORDER THAT HUNTS THE DARKNESS, WE WILL HAVE A FAIR TRIAL. LET IT BE THAT NO INNOCENT WILL DIE WHILE THE REDEEMER HAS COME." she boomed out to the masses. It was flashy, she knew, but the only way to know anything for certain would be in a calm, collected, environment. This mob mentality would just get people killed.

She was met by silence, for the crowd, other than the belief of "witchcraft" being associated with the Hallow, had no clue that the bunny girl had done.

"P-people!" the preacher then called in a faintly panicked tone, stepping in front of the huntress, "The Lord is testing us! For seven months, we have protected this town from the Hallow, and from the beast that plagues us, by presenting a sinner as a sacrifice. And now, this woman insists on abandoning our duties and put ourselves at the mercy of the beast!"

The doctor couldn't help but snicker at this display and suprised by the wise words of this fur..Soo he tought that to add salt to the wound, though he couldn't since after wards he'll most likely put a herb on the wound, but nevermind that..

He took a couple of steps forward and cleared his throat.."Dear preacher, I respect your beliefs..But tell me this...When we have a pest. We remove it.. When he have a problem..we deal with it, instead oh letting it grow..So to let people be in fear of a beast, instead of removing it jsut seems unwise and foolish.." He said in his calm and relaxed voice..

Even though he perfer a bit of blood shed, but now isn't the time or place for such..

Though the newcomer spoke true, she frowned, now knowing what the preacher had intended. Stepping to his side, she hefted out her book, a large metal and leather bundle, strapped to her side by chains.

"And he burned his son as an offering and used fortune-telling and omens and dealt with mediums and with necromancers. He did much evil in the sight of the Lord, provoking him to anger." she read, looking to the preacher.

"Or has your village elder forgotten, human sacrifice to appease any being is a sin in the eyes of our Lord." she looked to the book again, reading: "You shall not worship the Lord your God in that way, for every abominable thing that the Lord hates they have done for their gods, for they even burn their sons and their daughters in the fire to their gods."

She snapped the book shut at the last word and turned to the preacher, righteousness in her eyes.

"Would thou condemn your soul and the souls of your flock to the appeasement of some dark creature? Would thou condemn your souls to the fires of hell for all eternity? No. I will not have that, not when you may be redeemed, old one. I was once redeemed for the heresy of existing. If that is the case, I know too this child and your flock, and yes even you yourself Father, can be redeemed."

She pulled off her hat, her horns, the birth defects they were, showing now in the firelight. "My name is Inquisitor Rhosyn Ilwynog, condemned and brought forth from the darkness, slayer of the night's minions. Perhaps you have heard of me?" she said grinning.

That one was always a crowd pleaser.

((Yay, I love Lawful Good!! :D ))

Ray smiled after Rhosyn's speech, and nodded. "Well spoken, Inquisitor. Couldn't have said it better myself." He watched the child that was to be sacrificed, and his paw tensed about his rapier hilt.

((Sorry about the wait DX. Btw, +2 for being awesome, Rhosyn :D))

The preacher looked at the doctor, then at the unworldly fox with eyes that screamed outrage. The villagers though, gazed at the fox with eyes of awe. From her deep cutting words, many broke into tears, while two walked to the girl and began to untie her. While that was happening, the villagers were crowding around the fox and reached our their arms to feel her arms. She was the very thing the preacher had convinced them to fear, and now, she was a messenger to them.

As the bunny girl was gently placed down by the two villagers, exhausted and shaken up, the preacher looked up at the clock and said, "Damn you all!", running back to the church and locking the door behind him.

Rhosyn crossed herself. "May the Lord have pity on you, Father."

She turned to the little girl, and crouched down to her level. "Now, little one, what has everyone in a tizzy? You spoke of your brother, and something you did. If you are willing to allow me to assist you, perhaps we can find a way of healing him." she looked up at the one who called himself a doctor, and smiled. "I believe there is hope yet. Would you kindly tell me what you did?"

"I... tried a spell that my mother used to heal the sick..." The girl responded, wiping her eyes, "She taught me how to use it... I tried to use it to heal my brother; he's very sick. My mother couldn't heal him because." She then gazed at the stake she was tied up to, and bursted into tears. As she cried, the church bell began to ring a eerie tone, as the villages began to retreat back to their homes, boarding their doors and windows with wooden planks, and arming themselves with knives, farming tools, and guns.

Rhosyn flicked an ear at the villagers, watching the movement of the villagers.

"Can you take me to him? We may be able to heal him." looking up she saw the other two who had spoken out against the preacher.

"Doctor, is it? And you, with the blade. Your assistance may be needed. Let's see what darkness plagues this town."

She looked back to the girl. "I promise you will not be condemned for trying to heal the sick, whatever means you used. There is darkness afoot and any light within it is welcome. You can trust me."

The bunny girl hugged the fox as she then said, tears still running down her cheeks, "Thank you... for saving me."

SCREEEEEEEEEACH!!!!!

A loud, almost unworldly screeched boomed from the forest, causing birds to scatter and wildlife to flee. Judging on how loud the screech was, the beast was about a mile and a half away. The girl's arched arched up and her face streaked of horror as she then ran to a nearby shed and hid inside.

(we should wait for the others)

Ray drew a silver plated flintlock pistol, which were more-or-less rifles that were cut down to pistol size, and tensed. "Something wicked this way comes."

((Wheep wheep wheep! Random encounter time!))

Rhosyn stood, marking in her mind where the bunny girl ran off to, and faced the direction of the sound.

"By the pricking of my thumbs..." she murmered and smiled, pulling off her cloak and lifting the heavy crossbow from her side. It was a mammoth machine, built especially for her four arms to handle, the large barrel drum of bolts fastened tightly. It could fire fast, but was a jerk to reload. Two huge crosses adorned the sides, and the sides of the bow doubled as blades. She whispered a prayer under her breath.

Under the cloak, all four of her arms, covered in leather armor clasps, were visible. Her body armor fully covering her in leather and metal, adorned with pages of scripture and holy symbols. On her back was a two handed mace, for those up close and personal moments. Torches and two small wooden barrels of bolts were attached to her back. Her book still hung loose at her side, dangling on a pair of chains.

"I assume the two of you have fought the darkness before. Come, lets see if this will be the end of our light, or the dawn of another tomorrow."

Dr.Zed was bursting in a almost a madman like laughter as he jumped back and slid out a long and slender blade out oh his cane and flipped it around and made it hit  the ground cuaseing sparks as his masks eyes glows in that creepy red.."I belive the beast of burden will meet it's final fight and be my newest play thing, and it's blood will be my power, and it's flech my newest master piece!"

He kept luaghing until he realised that he was getting odd looks and as almost like a switch he get's back in his calm and relaxed sane figure as he flicks his cape as waits for this beast.."And yes, healing is something I do. However I need resouces, which I have, but perfer not to damaged soo.." He takes his medical sackle off and lays it on the floor next to a house..

((Ayyy! Welcome back :D))

A bone-chilling silence swept the town, a faint prayers were being made within the houses. The grown shook as the beast approached the down, hidden within the woods. Suddenly, a massive mass leaped from the forest and landed on the church, peering it's head around the church tower as it held onto it. It was a beast beyond words....

It glared down at the hunters with it's lifeless eyes, wondering if they were the sacrifices the town presented to it.

((Ooooooh its pretty :D also, great evil doctor RP there Rasha. Quick OOC knowlege question, what is that thing? Is it something one of us may have seen before?))

"I believe your herbs may be needed for more than just the child's brother..."

She looked at the monster coldly, calculating the strategy needed to take it down. It wouldn't do to keep it up there... they needed to keep it on the ground where it didn't have a height advantage. If it had some ranged attack, it was in a great position to pelt them from on high. Depending on what it's last meal was, if the preacher indeed had been feeding it sacrifice, would depend on it's power level...

"Friends, we need to get that thing down here. Fan out so we can give it more than one target to focus on. We may be able to widdle it down, but I want as few collateral casualties as possible." she took a step back, fanning the ground with her tail, muscles relaxed but ready to spring into action.

The beast had it's eyes glued onto the hunters as it stood atop of the church, as if it was waiting for one of the hunters to make the first move. After what seemed to be an eternity of silence, the beast made another ear-piercing screech and grabbed the church bell. It then flung it at the three with it's larger arm.

"Incoming!" she shouted, moving out of the way of the bell, still waiting to fire her crossbow until there was a better shot. Hopefully the creature would come down instead of just throwing bits of the church at them. It would be easier to tackle on the ground than in on the higher vantage point.

"Creature of darkness!" she shouted "I command thee to come down! If thou needest sacrifice, ye will find it harder to manage this night! Come! Take your prize!"

Her mentor had told her once never to goad the darkness in pride, for it would lead to a swift death, but she wasn't doing it to boast. A memory of her arguing with her mentor about strategic boasting flickered in the back of her head, a happy memory in a death filled world.

It was a gamble, but hopefully a well placed one.

The beast made another screech as it then, used it's larger arm, smacked the church tower out of the way with little effort and leapt down from the church to claim what it thought was it's sacrifices. An arrogate choice that will cost it's life.

'Yes,' she thought. 'It fell for it. Perhaps more bestial than human intelligence.'

"Surround it, lets work with it. Doctor, flank right, swordsman, left." she called, raising her crossbow and whispering a soft prayer under her breath, blessing the arrows.

"May your bolts fly true, and find their marks."

With that she tugged on the trigger and the repeating crossbow let out a hail of small bolts at the creature, peppering it with shots. They were custom bolts, one's she had made herself, with iron tips, small cross shapes on it, and blessed by a priest from another town over. She hoped the creature would be affected by iron as a side effect, but if not the metal barbs should do the trick to distract the creature until her comrades could start their attacks.

As the beast snarled in a mindless rage as it swatted at the doctor, It felt two arrows pierce it's skin. One arrow had landed on its knee while the other one landed on it's shoulder. The beast stopped attacking to doctor to pull out the arrows. Villagers from within their homes watch the fight, shocked to see that the hunters were surviving this long.

This would be the perfect time for the hunters to land a good assault on the distracted beast.

The beast screeched as it felt the tentacles wrap around it's legs, and began to pull and rip them off while it tried to block the incoming bullets with it's smaller arm. When it looked back up, it's head was slamed against the ground by the large hammer. Although dazed for a moment, it then tried to slam it's larger arm onto the demon fox.

The beast's eyes suddenly erupted with red energy as it then, with much of it's strength, ripped it's way out of the tentacles again and began to violently slam and pound it's fists onto the hunters, trying to hit them. It's head was badly beaten, but the beast still had some fight left.

The Doc had be shatted earlier and had be sliding on the floor, until he got up and moved quickly while slaming his whip on the ground to once again, make it back into it's sword form and stuck at the beast's ankles. Which he saw that his sackle of herbs was almost smashed so he stuck his cane blade into it's leg and ran..

He ran dodgeing or avoiding his teammates attacks or the beasts mindless rage and finally with a mighty leap, he got to his sackle as picked it up and tried to find a good place to set it as the battle raged on..

Zed was not going to let his flesh pund get away, and even more so since it has his cane blade stuck in its leg. So letting the sackle drop he quickly charged forth and held on the handle to try and pull it out while his team mate tried to stop it's movement.

The arrows penetrated the beast's legs and caused it to nearly trip over. Turing around with a violent snarl, it pulled the cane sword from it's knee and charged straight at the fox with it's horns aimed straight at her. However, she saw that in a small spot on the beast's head, there was a patch of short fur and visible skin.

She grinned. She loved moments like this. With a twist of the handle, the bottom of the large two handed hammer turned into a long spike. As it got closer, she leapt up, swinging the point directly into the bald patch, praying under her breath for protection and that her aim would be true.

It's screech was silenced at the great beast went limp and fell to the ground before the fox. Black goo came out of its head as the beast that tormented this town for seven months, was finally slain. The preacher saw this from with the church, peering through the window, and said under his breath, "No!"

Standing there, she yanked her hammer out of the creature, wiping off the spike with a cloth.

"There we are... another creature banished back to the darkness from whence it came." she frowned looking over it, and turned towards the townsfolk hidden away.

"This, my friends, is the face of your enemy, slain before your eyes. Together, you can accomplish great things, even if you feel yourself to be small and few. The Lord rewards those who do good for the righteous and protection of all!" she raised her hammer over her head, it's decorations and trappings of the holy origin of it's forging gleaming in the firelight.

"There is a terrible darkness descending on this land, and we shall not see it ended in our lifetimes. Therefor, my friends, kin, children... brothers and sisters in this world, the blindfold has fallen from your eyes. A fire is lit: is it a lamp perched over the inscription upon an ancient blade? Or a roaring conflagration consuming the house in which the howling fiends wait?
Things will never be the same after this. Fight back the shadows. You can hide away from it and let it consume you, or you can be like the Lord has taught us, and light the torch against the darkness. It can, and it will be defeated, so take faith in the Lord, your brother and sister next to you, and the torch in your hands!"

The townsfolk slowly creeped out of their homes and walked up to the dead monster to get a closer look at it. Then, with teary eyes and hope-filled hearts, they began to cheer, raising their weapons up.

"This calls for a celebration!" One of the villagers cheered, "Let us hang the beast's head over the church and have a feast of ages!!!"

As the crowd continued to cheer and look at the dead monster, the preacher slowly came out of the church and tried to sneak away from everyone, heading towards the horse stables.

The preacher yelped from being lifted up and said as his legs squirmed, "I-I was just trying to protect this town from the sinister forces of the Hallow! It was the Lord's command that a sacrifice was to be given to the Hallow, was you only way to please it! and then you... children of Perdition, came into our town and poisoned our privacy. The preachers words confused the villagers, much to the preacher's dismay. It was obvious that he was hiding something.

"Privacy to sacrifice the innocent to the darkness? The Lord does not command ever to succumb to the darkness in such a way."

A sadness fell on her face. "Father, I am a Zealot of the holy church, an Inquisitor. You can tell me what has happened. What force convinced you of this need to sacrifice the pure of blood and heart. Your sins will be redeemed."

She lowers him to the ground, hand still on his collar but no longer holding him aloft. "What vision of our Lord told you of this, Father? What darkness clouds your mind. Had we not come along, that beast would have killed another, and continued to do so for many more months, if not years. Privacy in this sense is the breeding ground of the Dark one's work. I can promise you that I am not of this Perdition you speak of. Tell me, Father. Why do you speak of doom and destruction, one follower of the path to another?"

The raccoon's face was twisted in rage, but then he gave in as finally said, lowering her head, "It was on the night when the beast first attacked our town. She was young, and beautiful," he continued, "Almost like a specter, she came out of nowhere. When she spoke to me, she said that... Dark times were aprotching, and that the Holy Church wouldn't protect us forever. She also told me that the Lord has abandoned us... Rhosyn grimaced. She had heard rumor's of that creature in other cities and villages. It had eluded her, but it was most certainly known to her.

"You speak truth, Father. Please, stay. I know your fear is deep, but trust me when I say we can deliver this place from the Hallow."

She smiled. "You have done as your concious has told you, and though your actions are misguided, you did the best as you thought for your people. There is honor in that. However your sin is great. It will be time and honest deeds that will absolve you of that sin."

She looked grim. "Father, are you willing to absolve yourself of this sin of human sacrifice by any means necessary?"

"Then rise again Father. I deputize you as a holy warrior in this town. If you impress in my eyes, and in the eyes of our Lord, you and your loved ones will be spared from the darkness you have wrought yourself. Loose that faith, and I will drag you kicking and screaming into the abyss myself."

She reached into her coat and pulled out a small Iron holy symbol, pinning it on the father's chest. "Your duty is to your people. They are the ones you must apologize to first. Redeem yourself in their eyes father. That is the only way."

The bunny girl led the two to her home, which was a small cottage made of planks of wood and clay. She let the hunters enter her home, and led them to her brother, who lay in his bed with a warm cloth over his head.

She then looked back at the hunters and said, "My name is Susy, and my brother is Tobby." Rhosyn looked around to the town. Celebration was high, the priest, hopefully, had learned his lesson, and after the meeting she would swing by and check up on them. She had faith that everything would be okay.

"Yes, messenger, I am prepared. I will gather my steed and I will meet you here."

She looked around at the celebrating villagers.

"Give me a moment..."

She walked up to the celebrating crowd, putting herself on the platform the bunny was going to be torched on, looking over the crowd, waiting for it to be a little quieter.

((You could say that :D INCOMING SPEECH))

"Ladies, Gentlemen, young and old, the Church is calling me away for a meeting of great import, and in these dark times, we need as many able bodied men, women, and furs as we can find to combat the darkness. Those who have families, please stay to defend the hearth, but to those who wish to fight the darkness at it's font, I offer an invitation to come with me. There will be those who can train you to fight, and perhaps some day become hunters yourselves. Whether to defend your family, hunt for the glory of proving yourself, or for your faith in the Lord above, I offer this path. If you wish to come, gather a horse or transportation, say your goodbyes, and meet me in the northern part of town in two hours. We shall set off then."

She stepped off the platform and turned to the messenger.

"You have your answer. We will be ready in two hours. Rest your steed and we will be there soon."

The crowd cheered from her words, as most of the men and women went to gather their old farming tools, guns, and weapons and began to prepare them as the farmers went to gather as much food as they could carry for the trip. As fast as the meeting had ended, the whole town was busy.

The messenger got off os his steed and grinned at such a sight, swiping an apple from a farmer walking boy to casual enjoy it. Susy walked up to Rhosyn and commented, "I've never seen this town so active."

Rhosyn saw the messenger stealing the apple and shot him an icy cold gaze.

She turned to Susy. "It's hope, child. Hope is a powerful force, and once these people have it, it will light against the deepest darkness." she smiled warmly. Not long ago she would have given anything to see the village that was going to hang her for her deformities turn so quickly. She was glad this village was different.

As the townsfolk went to work preparing, the messenger walked up the dead, headless beast to analyze it's body. "A rather powerful creature indeed." He commented, taking a bite out of his apple, "I guess doing like this is to be expected from a Class A hunter of the Holy Church. Very impressive, I must admit."

As he made his way back to his horse, about eighteen people had begun to gather to Rhosyn with their weapons and gear ready and their horses fed.

And as the crowd cheered, the messenger led the hunting party into the woods and on a dirt path. For two hours, they road through the woods, frightened by haunting gazes from the dark and bone chilling noises. Eventually, they came out of the forest and towards the shoreline, where they were met with a large gate that connected to a bridge that led into the ocean and to a large island, where the Holy Church had build their city and Cathedral.

The gate itself was very impressive, with four guards guarding the front while two manned gating turrets patrolled on top of the two towers that there on either side of the gate.

"State your business!" The guards ordered, holding flintlock rifles.

The messenger stopped his horse and got off, pulling a scroll from his bag as he then said, "As messenger of the Holy Church, I was ordered to gather hunters for the crisis in hand."

Crisis? The messenger never said anything about a crisis...
Title: Re: Beyond Hallow's Grove
Post by: Rho'Syn Ilwynog on December 07, 2015, 12:19:19 AM
Rhosyn shifted on her seat. It was always a crisis with the Church... something would come up, they would be frightened of whatever the darkness had thrown at them this time, and would call it a "crisis". She knew better. Hopefully this was just the council being paranoid and not worse than most...

She looked to her allies, and smiled warmly. "It will be all right. This town is a bastion against the darkness. A light against the night. We will be safe, and I will make sure you are trained."

(I'm sorry for being gone. Got a seasonal job DX))

With that, the gates opened and the hunting party was allowed to cross the long bridge and into the city of the Holy Church. The city had great, gothic styled buildings and small shops at every corner. People and horses crowded the streets as the hunting party advanded. From the looks the townsfolk were giving, they had never been in a  city like the Holy Church before.

"Well, theres plenty of room for them to settle in this city, as well as markets and shops." "At the Cathedral." the messenger then said, "It's at the highest point in the city."
He then road off, leaving the hunting part behind. The Cathedral was arguably the most important building of the Holy Church that contained many secrets. Only Church members were allowed to enter the building, but it seemed that they were allowing hunters to enter the sacred building.

The cathedral, much to Rhosyn's shock, look a lot grimmer and lifeless than the last time she was here. The towers and monasteries had an eerie aura to them, and the one lively parks and sacred shrines and graveyards looked as if they were haunted. The area was void of nuns and children who would visit the Cathedral to play, as the strange beings like the ones at the gate walked aimlessly around, carrying lanterns and sticks. Something was obviously wrong.

Edward looked over to Ray and gave a nod, before turning to Rhosyn and said, "Under the orders of the Council, I am forbidden to give out any more information. But. whoever achieves in giving Paleblood to the church will be chosen to go about with the mission. As you al may know, Paleblood is a rare type of liquid substance that can be found within extremely rare types of infected called Albinos. Unlike normal infected and beasts, Albino infected carry Paleblood within their bodies, and carries the curse of the Hallow where ever they go. In order  for the Holy Church to achieve it's goals, we first need Paleblood."
