(Open-In Progress)
Synopsis: A world once at peace is overpowered by an outside source. Forced to live in constant fear we created factions, divisions (guarded posts across our nation). Our lights stay on 24/7 because the Shadow creatures live in the dark. Our fate rests in the hands of our chosen runners who journey out during the day for materials. These could include: medicine, fuel, clothes, food
Disclaimer: I will be Trinity Zane as well as the 'creatures' or 'others'. (BE WARNED) OCs will perish and some may not. With that being said I will assume small roles if needed to accomplish plot scenarios.
Requirements: Your character must be a runner. You may be from other forts or from Lazuras (Trinity's home). The only restrictions I have on content is if it alters my PG-13 rating.
Please NO FREELANCING, if you join you must have some sort of contact with the characters (when introducing your character) in this forum-no exceptions.
Name: Trinity Zane
Age: 19
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 175lbs
History: not yet revealed
Appearance: Has a jacket which fits his profile nicely, underneath is a red hoodie, carries biker gloves, long hair (which hangs over his eyes), lean, wears an eye patch
Personality: Anti-Hero. Distrustful. Though he has been a Runner longer than all Lazerus Runners besides 01 he's kept it that way by second guessing his and others' every move. He tends to be distant, sometimes cold but underneath he's quite kind and caring.
Let us begin shall we:
They're called Shadow Runners. Brave heroes who risk their lives to retrieve supplies.
For what lurks out there...beyond these doors is Evil. An embodiement of fear no one has seen or lived long enough to tell about it.
We were told the stories as children but had no way of knowing if they were true.
The proof, it died in the possession of its owners.
Fort Lazuras is one of the few resistance colonies left. Some of our sister forts were destroyed- Bambridge and Cora. Our survival depends on getting these supplies, on our Runners. Without them Zoo-manity faces extinction once again.
I'm Trinity Zane (Runner 9) and I'm from the future...your future. I live in the shambles of the life you know now.

Trinity's eyes captured the sunlight as it came down on him. He could feel it now-that familiar rumble of earth as the giant stone doors slowly opened.
The start of another day here at Fort Lazarus. Another run for supplies or some 'damn materials' he recalled.
It was midday when they sent him out to the closest town. The town of Hazel, a place he journeyed often. When he had arrived the wind was harsh, unwelcoming and he couldn't help but shake the presence of someone or something. It wasn't so bad though they had paired him up with a Runner named Zaida.
-
~Another day.~ she thought looking at the clouds roll by the shadows castes down soon her... A beautiful sight. Zaida, already ready for what awaited her. Although didn't enjoy the thought of transferring, working with some new anthro.
Sadly this wasn't her choice, whether she liked it or not she had to follow those in control of these forts. Hazel was the town she stayed for now. Awaiting her new running partner for missions in the future, runner 9 from Lazuras having the name of Trinity.
-
Being out here always gave him a severe case of the heebie-jeebies. But honestly who wouldn't find the empty stores, abandoned cars and unkempt roads slightly unnerving. His mind though was in other places.
'Kaida' he practiced saying the name in his head and yet it didn't seem any more familiar. She had replaced the recently deceased Runner 11. They were suppose to meet somewhere in an old stadium parking lot according to Overhead. He came up to a car, kneeled down and pulled out the binoculars. A small thermal signature wasn't far from his location. It was a woman's body, a body that filled out her clothes nicely without scant.
-
Zaida continued looking at the clouds with her glowing eyes must escaping her nostrils. Eventually the clouds broke apart from the wind which slowly grew stronger. The hybrid ears flicked, knowing there was another presence in the area. Her tail swaying in a vertical motion as it has always kept her balanced and rarely touched the floor.
She turned her body to face the direction the anthro scanning the area before spotting the fox with binoculars behind the car, raising a brow slightly. For it had to be the runner. Without a word, She had her arms crossed over her breasts starting her way over her ears laid back.
-
Trinity resituated himself and adjusted the lenses on his binoculars. It was Runner 11 alright. The vulpes doffed his backpack and drank some water, they had to be about 4 miles from Lazarus. She was close now, enough for him to smell a slight perfume and female underneath it.
As he turned around she was there nearly on top of him, almost startling. There was an awkward pause before he shook her paw. Dirt stuck to his face and as he lifted his sunglasses a clear outline of where they had been was visible.
"G'day mate, just taking a gander at the new meat! I'm Trinity, your safari guide. You may also know me as Runner 9." He joked.
-
She was fast when the fox had turned to face her as there was a pause...she studied him before he grabbed her hand, and They shook. Her cold paw having oddly shaped teal pads, it was seen she had retractable claws as well, the Serynx gave a tight firm grip until loosening up then gently letting go.
Her ears laid back, while She looked slightly up at him. Giving eye to eye contact with her cold glowing eyes having and expressionless face not someone who would joke... Or perhaps just not in the mood for one right now. "Zaida...runner 11" she replied in a quiet soothing voice, fixing her jacket.
-
The ridges of his hoodie settled down on his shoulders. He tried at times to make things light, but given the circumstances now wasn't the best time.
Trinity slightly turned, the smile fades from him "We should get moving."
Another eerie breeze sung through the buildings, rustling some trash.
He bent over and tightened the laces of his boots "You have the list don't you?"
-
The wind slowly grew stronger the dead tree's rocking back and forth as trash rolled across the floor. The whistling heard in the air, Possibly a storm rolling in or perhaps it was just the winter breeze.
Zaida's fur gently swaying in the wind having her pull up her hood.
With a hushing voice she replied "Yes, I do." she pulled the paper out carefully from her pocket, folded neatly. The Serynx extended her arm to hand it over to trinity.
-
The vulpes reached up and grabbed the paper, she seemed a little introvert. He wasn't going to complain 'nothing wrong with quiet'. Except there was, the terrible ringing in his ears drove him near to insanity at times. Some nights he slept by the generator at Lazarus, just to give him something to listen to.
The list read:
Ibuprofen
Tape
Lightbulbs
Fuel
"Looks like our first stop should be the supermarket on the north side of town. Try to keep up." He glanced over in her direction briefly before running down Main Street.
-
She looked at the paper in his hands, Familar with the list as she had read it already. As he read out loud she nodded slightly, knowing he didn't miss anything.
The vulpes starting to run off, As he started his way down deeper in the city. She caught up and followed in a fast jog to save her energy. staying by his side while heading to the market. Her ears leaned back as she kept her eyes sharp and guard up in this new area. The Serynx thought, curious how the base would be like but kept herself focused more on this small mission to gather the materials listed.
-
He stood up straight, breathed stiffly through his nostrils and surveyed their surroundings. As they entered deeper into the city an obnoxious wind died down. Trinity weaved through the maze of empty abandoned cars. As they passed the third set of stop lights he could see the store.
The shopping carts were unorganized and scattered throughout the parking lot. An inch of dust had accumulated over everything. He had to pry open the sliding door so they could enter. Trinity was prompted to get his flashlight, as the isles sat in an eerie shadow.
-
Some cars crashed into poles or even eachother. Carts knocked over and scattered about, shopping bags and trash laying about. Definitely due to panic. Moving past the discorded mess in the parking lot. A pole in the distance caught her eye, flickering off and on as sparks flew from it.
She have a long quick sigh before turning back to follow him into the store.
As he pried the doors open she stepped in after him. Her glowing eyes having items around her softened by the dim light. It was a mess, they were lucky there was even items.
-
"After you." He gestured, his tail flickering slyly as he once again took off his sunglasses.
The fox's ears pointed towards the door carefully listening for any sounds. There was an unsettling sensation, one that filled his stomach with butterflies. The freckles under his eyes barely noticeable under a layer of dried dirt. Every step it seemed something made noise-glass, plastic, rocks.
A pungent odor filled his nostrils and gave an urge to cough. It must've been the freezers, once the power was down the meat inside was rotten. His flashlight cast out a puny 20 feet before being totally subdued by complete darkness.
-
She walks forward as she scanned the store carefully. Somewhat in between crouching and standing just to keep her a little low. Her ears stood up listening to anything and footsteps nearly silent.
The food isle wasn't worth checking as they were most likely rotten... Except canned good which may be useful. However she would get back to that as for now the hybrid searched the area for any of the materials floor, shelf. A bit of a mess but it couldn't be too hard.
"If you get anything, tell me so of don't need to waste my time looking for it..." She said in a cold soothing tone which slightly echoed

The serynx hissed as she stopped in place. "I wasn't very worried if you were going to 'kill' me, especially with that ego like yours I doubt it. I smelled you once we entered, just thought you were dead due to the rotten food laying about... Too bad I was wrong." she said simply.
Before answering "yes we are in fact, runners... That's all you need to know" She replied her ears leaned back and glowing eyes narrowed at the anthro. "Why are you concerned?" Zaida said with a cold tone waiting for his response.

((may i start now?))
He walked through the wreckage. Cursing in his head, Had to leave my *censored* Bike behind, now where are these runners. He thought as he heard talking in a building near him. He quickly moves toward the building and, kicks in the door gun raised. "WHO'S THERE!?" He yelled while scanning the room.

Trinity's muzzle wrinkled with an angry snarl but the growl coming from deep in his belly stopped. Kaida was speaking now and he was slowly, carefully reaching behind his back. He could feel the handle and focused his fingers around the rubber grip.
There was a second noise as someone entered the store. His arm went up to stop Kaida from advancing.
"Don't give him any more information. We don't need any rogues knowing more than they should." His eyes returned to the silhouette.
"Pretty stupid thing to do. Threaten a complete stranger." A glimmer of sunlight shone off Trinities stainless steel blade as it left its sheath "At least introduce yourself. Rogue."
He stopped to think about them, about the odds. He didn't know who else entered the place but prepared for the worst.
-
Tand started moving through the store making as much noise as possible. Quickly moving, sniffing them out, listening from where the words were coming from, "I KNOW YOU'RE IN HERE!, I can smell ya." He turns a corner and spots a red hoodie. He puts his shotgun back up to his shoulder aiming and walking slowly.
He walked up and slightly tapped the hoodie on the shoulder, "Boo."
-
"Not a threat" as I inspect the wreckage "a fact you walked in split up, I was once a runner. Actually everyone thinks I'm dead." Spinning a chair around I sit on it resting my arms on the back "pull up a chair and I'll tell you about the shadows, I've survived them.

((like no offense but I think this needs some minor adjustments, umm cause what do you mean "'A fact you walked in split up, I was once a runner'" It's like it's going all over the place Like I said before no offense it's really hard to follow.))

(Sorry Draak. Perhaps I was a little bit rash before I told you to jump in. Perhaps if you wait a little bit like a day or so we can find a better scenario. Again my apologies. I will touch base with you in a PM when we're ready.)

Trinity came to an office chair the one his rogue was sitting in. He impaled the desk with his bowie knife, and leaned over it.
"I know enough about them. I've seen one." His eyes glazed over him deep in thought "They're killers, nightmares, assholes."
-
((no no it's not that, its his wording its all that is confusing me, yknow what i shouldnt've said anything on the subject I can follow it. Just tell me when you notice my character behind you.))
-
"I'm not interested to hear your story... I know enough, You'll only bore me." she hissed coldly. Zaida walked over some trash before leaning on a wall.
The darkness hiding her, but her glowing eyes revealed where she stood. She studied the anthro carefully before she gruffed impatiently with hers laying flat against her head.
-
"Oh it's interesting alright, you might learn something" turning to look trinity in the eyes "do you? Do you truly know of how they stalk, communicate, even kill." Tapping the scar on my head "see that? Where I was ambushed from behind wrapped it's claw around my skull and threw me over forty yards. I've spent my life learning to kill them, ever since they killed me."
-
A morbid silence settled over the conversation, Trinity could see faintly the deep scars "I've been a runner for 8 years and I've only ever seen one. The same one that's been here for years."
He stopped looked over at Zaida and thought over his words carefully "When I was in training one of our students was taken. The trainer me and a few good men went looking for him....we never did find him, in one piece."
Trinity paused "And the only reason we could see him...was because of the student's blood. The fact you're still alive is a miracle."
-
((*censor* it I'm going to force myself to be noticed))
"I remember my first encounter fondly." He says rubbing his muzzle scar. He puts his shotgun on his back, because he thinks he can take all three.
-
"Put down the gun" I say lowly "we can't kill each other anymore we must unite, I can teach you how to survive, to kill" as I said this a wicked smile Come over my face "so you willing to listen now?"
-
"Sorry to burst your bubble old man but I for a fact don't need any advice... Who said we didn't know how to kill." she said in a low growl. Her eyes darting over to the other anthro with the red hood.
She kept her distance not fond of others... She wasn't even comfortable around her new partner. "We should get going, we're wasting our time" she hissed calmly to trinity.
-
"I don't doubt you can kill, but these are different they have one blind spot and its directly in front of them. There armor is so thick my magnum won't penetrate it point blank, there claws can shear through steel and there teeth drip poison. They have one weakness, two bullets in the mouth and it will ricochet inside them only problem is to do that you've gotta see them and be close enough for it to have a open mouth."
-
*Grunts* "Look, I don't need advice from a rogue." He says his eyes slightly glowing red. "But I do agree runners need to work together to survive, so let me introduce mahself. I am Draak Tand, you may call me Tand or, runner1."

((Im going to be without internet for a bit))

"There's one problem with your little theory. Say we could by some chance lure IT out and get close enough. How can you shoot something you can't see?" He looked over at Kaida.
"We've got more important things to do than play suicide." Trinity loosened his knife from the table and returned it to the sheath.
"Get that damned thing out of my face 01! You know we don't use guns anymore. They're attracted to sound." He was walking over to Kaida turning his back to them.
"You want to kill yourself. That's your business. Stay away from Lazuras and us." His eyes narrowed and brows tensed.
There was a storm coming, another sandstorm-he could feel an early autumn breeze. It had an uninvited presence, lazily hanging in the distance.
"11. We need to beat that storm, this took longer than it should've." His paw wondered into the pocket of his hoodie.
He put the eyepatch over one of his good eyes, and entered the outside gusts. His profile fading into a turbulent sandstorm. All the while his gut telling him he'd have an early return to this rogue.
-
"Oy first of all, I use this only when I need to, secondly, I'll come with. I'm not stupid enough to travel, alone when there's perfectly good partners around." He says following 9. "But, I don't trust that guy." He says pointing his thumb at the shirtless man.
-
~About time~ she thought, pushing herself off the wall to stand straight. Zaida gave a last glance at the stranger. "Don't get in our way... Goodbye" She growled soothingly before turning to follow the two runners.
She then pulled up her hood, her gasmask hanging on her neck like it always have. The Serynx stayed a bit behind the group keeping a sharp eye. As well as Prepared her paw near her leg holster which held a slightly rusty and jagged machete, dirty rags wrapped on its handle.
-
Draak wasn't far behind him when 09 stopped "Wait. Where is your partner?"
The fox turned and stood on his tippy toes to meet the anthro's eyes. He could verily see over his broad shoulder and see runner 11 closely following.
~I don't know who that rogue was...but how did he survive so long out here? Such a thing was unheard of.~ and yet his eyes drifted back over to 01 ~Runner 99 was the last partner paired with him.~
"Where's 99? Did he make it?"
-
Standing I say loud enough to be heard "hey take this" throwing a walking talking towards the runners "when you need me call" I turn grimly and say to myself "it's only a matter of time till someone leads it back to your base" then I walk into the darkness and disappear
-
"She got ripped to shreds a couple days ago. So no, she didn't." He said thinking what a shame it was that she had to die. "And no, I'm not being sarcastic." She was a good runner, but in the end, she wasn't good enough. "But I'm more than capable of handling my self. I've survived this long haven't I?"
-
(Don't feel like you need to be a bad guy if you don't want PO5ID3N25. Im trying to get to a template we can all work with which is coming very soon!)
Trinity grabbed the radio tossed to him-stared at it and then back again to the anthro. The rogue was gone as quickly as he came leaving Trinity wondering if he had even been real.
When the words left 01's mouth there wasn't an emotion found in him "Runner 1 or not you're only as good as your team."
Just a listless nod, he tried not to acknowledge his and her history. The partnership they once shared. A sense of duty over the years had replaced the emotions...well, most of them anyway.
That night when they had returned to Fort Lazuras, he hadn't said more than a few words. Meaningless words with no expression.
"11 this is your first night here. Unfortunately we are not as well equipped as Velox. Sleep wherever you like I'll be in the paddock sleeping if you need me. I'll see you both in the morning @ 0500hrs." He tried to slept but mostly tossed, turned, stared at the stars and thought.
The grass was moist and even through his seeping bag made his body shiver. In the middle of the night he tried to sneak pass all the runners. He made his way to the tent where recently deceased Runners' personals were kept. He found 99's stuff and rummaged through it and took a small paper. He wasn't alone for long however because someone was coming...
-
Far away from the tent I stirred in my sleep bolting up out of bed as something seemed to move outside the window "they've come" I vaulted the bed and headed out the back as I did I sensed as much as anything it above me so I dove to the ground hearing the shadow land behind me as I rolled over it stepped on my leg shattering the bone I scream as it screeches its victory I draw and unload my gun in its maw as it staggered forward it crashed to the dirt "damn it" I cursed as I crawl to my hut "this is going to hurt" as I anticipate setting the broken leg
-
PO5ID3N25: ("Disclaimer: I will be Trinity Zane as well as the 'creatures' or 'others'."- pg 1 of this forum. I will allow this scenario just this once but keep this in mind for later dates. If you'd like to fight a shadow creature contact me directly. Thank you.)
-
Tand heard someone in the night and, decided to follow. When he got found 9 just sitting there looking through 99s stuff. "Watcha expecting to find?" He asked out of the blue, and crouched down next to 9.
-
As he slyly slipped the paper away in the collar of his shirt Trinity stopped "She had something of mine."
The fox remained still, looked over at 01 and stood up. He wasn't sure if Draak would buy it or could see through his poorly executed lie.
-
He knew 09 was lying but, for some reason, he trusted him. "Whatever man do watcha gotta do." He said showing no intentions to move. He says "Ima stay here for awhile..." as he trails off a tear comes to his eye. Why did you have to die 99?
-
Zaida didn't mind much, she got comfortable before she decided to sleep away from others. She laid on the bag facing the wall of the fort... Her tail wrapped around her waist, as she curled up. However didn't sleep much, not trusting to anthros here nor very comfortable at this fort that she was transferred to. Soon she would get use to this, eventually.
Zaida opened her mouth wide and yawned. Keeping herself warm In the old sleeping bag. Zaida shut her eyes lightly, the room dimmed with little light. The Serynx beginning to get deep in her thoughts. Hoping to drift asleep soon, if she could.
-
(Talked to someone here who was confused by the layout of Fort Lazuras. Picture a stadium with no roof, essentially with solid steel walls)
He watched him leave, his eyes reflecting the moonlight coming from the door. His paw went down his shirt and pulled out the paper when Draak wasn't looking. On it were coordinates to a place no one knew about. There was more than one freelancer out there like the rogue today but this one in particular was on to something big. He and 99 had been working secretly together with her-the Labrador.
"She was a good Runner. You were a good team." He padded 01's shoulder.
The fox abandoned him believing he needed time to grieve. Everyone here had their own stages of depression. Trinities were more abnormal, mostly making his conscious more and more callous. His eyes browsed over the sleeping bodies looking for 11 but couldn't quite spot her. He quietly moved over to his sleeping bag.
-
After two hours of just sitting there, he went through her stuff. He found her locket, it had a picture of them together. "More than you ever knew 09," he whispered.
He walked outside and thought about going back to sleep. He decided it wad better to be on watch and patrol around. He put the locket on around his neck. Welp, too late to grieve. and he started his rounds letting someone get some sleep.
((They were best friends, not lovers.))
-
((My bad
))
As I sit in my hut I take a shot of morphine "**censor** leg good thing it was a fracture it felt like hell" I shook my head "gotta stop talking to myself" i splint it and test my weight "I won't be running for a week or two but it'll work" I limp to my desk and record the kill more luck than anything as I do I stare at the radio its partner in lazarus

A few hours had passed and he was awake, though tired. Trinity check his watch and wiped the sleep from his eyes.
0430hrs
He'd gotten up slowly and rolled up the sleeping bag stowing it with other Runner's gear. Everyone was taking down their tents/putting away their pads, bags. Getting ready for the day shifts. Naturally he was the first to the food trailer for breakfast.
As he perused over his plate once more, played with the broccoli and returned his attention to the paper. The fox pulled out the hand held global positioning device. The one he took from 99's equipment.
After putting in the coordinates he left to the command post just south of the paddock. Trinity stood a fair distance away waiting for the night shift to leave the supply tent.
-
Tand, seeing the morning come in, walks to get some breakfast. *Yawns* He picks at his food, thinking about last night. What was that thing 09 had. He decided he might ask about it later. He looked for things to workout with. he picked up the heaviest things and started lifting. Nobody thought it was strange because this was his ritual every morning. He spotted 11 and decided to go make some small talk while he waits for his mission. "Hi, how'd ya sleep?"
-
Zaida was laying still on her sleeping bag her eyes opening as she heard runner 1's voice and sat up, and faced him. "Good, I suppose." she replied in a quiet soothing voice. A hand going through her short hair and her tail unwrapping from her waist to sway in its regular pattern. Looking around the fort some anthros sleeping still others already up, a few gone possibly on missions.
-
Jacob walked along the deserted road, his eyes scanning for any sort of movment as he held his M-14 tight in hand. His fellow runner walked behind him, a technician named Aaron, who was a smaller husky whos nose had practicality been in a book this whole trip. It figures that Jacob would get stuck on a tech run, having to escort and protect Aarons scrawny ass while they scoured the ruins in a far away place for lord knows what. The only thing they had managed to find was some type of small generator motor, one Aaron was able to carry strapped to his back. And taking a glance back at the husky, Jacob was surprised he was able to carry it this far without assistance.
"How far out are we?" Aaron asked, without looking up. The grayfox stopped and pulled out a map, looking it over before answering. "We are about a day and a half from The Reach, I think over by Fort Lazarus." The technician looked up with a raised eyebrow. "Perhaps we should stop in and say hi. Maybe trade for some supplies." Jacob didnt see the point but kept his opinion to himself, Aaron after all out ranked him. "Fine." He growled. "We should be coming up on it soon."
-
"Good, good." Tand decides to leave her alone and, go on gate duty. With his binoculars he spots two people coming closer. "Who goes there!?" He asks hoping not to get into a fight.
-
Trinity was coming around from the command post and amongst the number of anthros his eyes skipped over their heads to Runner 11. His face grimaced a little with a peaking sun coming just over the wall.
There wasn't an Overhead to be spotted from here. From his position and it made me feel at ease carrying a bag of equipment.
As he drew closer to Kaida Trinity spoke "I went to Planning, got a new map of our district and orders from Ops."
His eye patch uncomfortably rested over his left eye, once in a while had to shrug his cheek to resituate it "We need to find 01. We've got work to do."
-
Jacob puts an arm out and stops Aaron a good distance from the gate, keeping his rifle pointed at the ground but still ready. "I dont like this, we should just keep moving. We dont need help from anyone else."
"Nonsense, things will be fine. Our Forts havnt had any major problems with each other, so therea no need to be hostile." Aaron replies, crossing in front of Jacobs arm and waving at Tand. "Greetings Lazarus, we are from Fort Skyreach! We were out on a scavange run and thought we'd pass through to see if the neighbors were still alive."
-
"That's a relief! I didn't want to have to kill anyone today!" He said, hoping they weren't fibbing. He yelled up to the people at the gate, "We have people comin in, prepare to open the gate!" He waited for them.
-
"It wouldnt be you who would be doing the killing..." Jacob mumbled, earning an elbow from Aaron. "Play nice." He whispers to the fox, the two approaching the gate. "Yes, we'd hope there will be no killing today. If youd like we will leave our weapons at the door." Jacob only glared at the husky for his last statement, shaking his head.
-
She looked over at the fort's gates to what the commotion was. However was unable to as anthro's got in the way walking about or some to see the two guest from skyreach.
Giving a long sigh she saw trinity approach her. Giving her news of a mission. She stood up fixing her clothing before speaking "Runner 01?... I am positive he is over at the gate, last I saw him." She replied in her natural soothing voice looking back at the fox.
-
"Well I don't care as long as you don't shoot anyone. By the way the names Tand, or 01. Who're you?" Tand asked, knowing full, well whoever they were he could take em. "The trader is three lefts then a right and, if you're hungry the mess is in the middle."
-
The vulpes ears perked and pointed in the direction of the doors. They were opening slowly and creaked as they did. His teeth ground against themselves in frustration.
~now what?~
Trinity was coming to the entrance and stood motionless. His eyes narrowed and he concentrated his vision on the lonely three profiles. It may have been visitors from Port Station or Skyreach. He remembered reading something on the map that friendlys might be in the area.
Other forts seemed less trusting than Port and Skyreach. Velox had once stolen supplies from a pair of Runners a couple months ago. Their relationship with Lazarus was in flux. He was surprised to see that Lazarus traded with Velox for some supplies and Runner 11, Kaida.
Hopefully the newcomers we're bringing good news with them.
-
Aaron walked in with a smile on his face, Jacob following behind with a blank expression. He looked around Lazarus, his eyes shifting to yhe many people that had gathered around the gate, already wanting to leave. "I am Aaron, or Runner 23, and this is my escort Jacob, Runner 17. We were just on our way back to The Reach when we were in the area and thought we'd stop by to see how the fort was doing. Maybe do some trading?" The husky began, adjusting his glasses. "Yeah, but I dont think we'll be staying for long." Jacob added, his annoyance obvious in his voice.
-
Tand walks up to 09 and says, "The big ones not very friendly but, the small ones nice enough." Tand then just watches as the two people walk around. "Wonder how long they can last, you seem pissed, what's up?"
-
Zaida decided to walk over to the guest from skyreach. Her eyes narrowed. It was enough being here and guests didn't make anything better.
She held her hands behind her back studying this but not close. Sighing quietly she looked over at trinity. "Can we just go on the mission already, whatever the OPs told you... It would be better than this." She huffed.
-
Trinity stood tall, crossed his arms as Draak came by. His response was slow but it was a forced silence as he kneeled down and opened his green pack.
From this area no one could see him crouch, not the security cameras, not any Lazarus personnel or Overhead.
The fox looked up at Kaida smiled and handed her one of the three helmets he had taken it was old, somewhat warn-bleached by the sun. A scratched chrome dome almost complimented the navy blue shroud tucked inside it.
"We're going for a little hike." He slung the pack over his shoulder after handing one to Draak.
-
While Aaron was busy talking to traders, exchanging things Jacob could care less about, the fox was keeping a watchful eye, looking over everyone in the fort. What he wouldnt do to be home right now. As he scanned he caught Zaida looking at them, narrowing his eyes at her and scowling. "Hurry up any trade transactions you have, I want to leave as soon as possible." He said, Aaron simply rolling his eyes. "Fine fine, I have what I want, but we really should keep more in touch with these guys, its to bad the airport is so far away."
-
Tand, grimaced, "Hiking sounds horrible." He grimaced, "Welp, sure beats doing nothing." He hopes it won't last long. "So where, we hiking too?" He asks hoping for some excitement.
-
"You'll see." Trinity stood up, his back towards the supply unit where 23 and 17 were.
He felt the eyes of someone rest on his shoulder, Trinity caught the Runners stare. The fox wasn't afraid to stare him down but felt rather impolite. They were nearing the door when the trio met 23 and 17.
-
((Is anything major gonna happen soon if so I'll stay up if not I'm gonna hit the hay))
-
She made contact with the fox giving a snarl, before her glowing eyes broke away looking over at trinity. "Hiking sounds good, I don't like being around this many anthros..." She admitted following behind her hood up as she gruffed. "The sooner we leave the better."
As she followed followed Trinity having her distance. The Serynx stopped as she kept her hands in Her pocket looking over at the husky and fox... Runner 23 and 17
-
Aaron and Jacob were about to leave the gate when the husky turned back and saw the trio behind them, turning around and offering a wide smile. "This is quite a nice place you have here, we appreciate you letting us in." He said. Jacob simply kept his back to them, instead glancing out over the waste, swinging the M-14 over his should. "We should get going if we are going to make it to someolace safe before dark. Day and a half walk remember?" "No wait a minute Jacob." The husky replied, making the fox give a heavy sigh. "Where are you runners off to?" He asked Trinity.
-
Tand, crouched down putting his shin armor on. He looks up, smiles a glaring warning smile, as he catches up with the other two. *nods* "So we all set?" His face turning emotionless, his eyes still slightly glowing. He gives off a grim feeling to some.
-
A slight pause fell over the conversation as the fox-Trinity put on his helmet. He fed his ears in through the ear holes so it fit him appropriately.
"There's some maintenance required on the towers by Port Station. You know our communications are vital in those areas." His eye studied them, 23 seemed typical.
He could easily identify the escort however with his gun, it seemed like a rather moot point to have a rifle. Mostly likely if you used a gun the shadow creature was close. Then again you could never be too careful here.
"I'm 09. Maybe you've heard of me I'm the Arch-Runner here. This is 01 and 11. If you'd like to come with you can. Seems like Port is on your way to Skyreach." His fist clenched when he said it, he hated lying.
They really were going to Port but for reasons undisclosed. He had hoped they would part sometime, go their separate ways as it were once they passed Port Station. There was a small static charge from the radio in his pack, the one the rogue had given him. But it was faint and quiet.
-
Tand puts his helmet on, keeping quiet. He didn't trust the newbies, not like he trusted 09 and 11. "We need to go soon, you know, too make good time." He says, impatience in his gruff southern voice. He pops his soldiers, fingers, neck, waiting for the order to move out.
-
Aaron followed Trinity's gaze to Jacob, before looking back at the fox with his eyes glowing in excitement. "Yes! We'd love to come along! Maybe I could help you the repair, Im one of the lead technicians at Skyreach." The huskys grin only got wider, readjusting his glasses once more, leaning in to mumble to Trinity. "And dont worry about Jacob, hes... well, its a long story, but he wont cause to much trouble." Leaning back up Aaron took a notebook out of a satchel, scribbling a few things down. "Ooh this is so exciting! See Jacob, this trip wasnt to much of a waste after all."
-
*facepalms* This is goignt be a long walk.
-
It was close to midday when the oppressive heat pushed down on them. He was contemplating a way out, but alas there wasn't one. 23 was too nosy, sooner or later he had to break the truth to him...to all of them.
Trinity could see it now the glimmering mirage of the Port Station. The sea was long gone, dried up by the deep recesses of a starving earth. Little by little he was straying from the usual path. Every so often he check the GPS and the coordinates 99 left behind.
The sand hills were hot and pretty much radiated the heat. Kaida was closest to him now and he had an urge, the gut feeling to tell her he was lying and that they were going to see the scientist. He was confident enough that despite the lie they would all trust him, his reputation as a skilled survivalist would ultimately win them over.
At one point yet again another transmission came over the radio, this one was loud and clear. It came from someone close and he swore softly. He had forgotten to rid himself of the Rogue's walkie. What used to be the cove now remained a giant island of rocks. A mountain of one giant stone carved by the water into four separate pieces.
He lead them to the mouth of the canyon when the Rogue hailed him.
-
"They're here" I mumble to Ripley "I'll guid them in, odd you knew they'd meet me earlier" creepy actually I thought to myself as I walk to get the radio as I broadcast to the runners "enter the canyon walk two hundred and ten paces enter the cave on your left go to the back and knock on the eastern wall, I'll be there to guide you in"
-
Trinity held the radio for a moment. Didn't know what to say, what was there to say? The directions led straight to Ripley the scientist. He was dumbfounded and then began to think...
~They knew 99 was dead. That rogue was Ripley's assistant, she sent him to retrieve us.~
Somewhere, somehow they could see them approach the cove. He tried to locate him but couldn't, Trinity knew he owed an explanation to 11, 01, 17 and 23. He sucked in one deep breath and turned to face them.
"As you all know by now this is not Port Station. I and 99 when we were partners ran into a rogue named Ripley. She was a scientist and unlike all other rogues she sought to better help us understand who these Shadow Creatures are. When 99 died I had to come here. Ripley believed to have found out something that could change our world. If you follow me your questions will be answered."
-
Aaron had been completely oblivious, his nose in his book up until now. "What do you mean?" He asked, a confused look on his face. "Are we not fixing communications?"
Jacob on the other hand had not been so naive, knowing something was off the moment they started to go off course. But he didnt say anything, instead slowly making his way to the back of the group so he could keep an eye on everyone. "What exactly are you trying to pull here? Who the **censor** is 99?" He growled, stopping in his tracks.
-
"Ahem" I crackled over the radio "everyone be calm please I would absolutely hate to have to shoot anyone, please follow mister trinity all will be explained"
-
(Don't mean to be a jerk here Jacob just wanted some drama. Also will be going to bed after this post.)
The fox-Trinity smirked slightly and kicked the sand with his combat boot.
His paw went up over his mouth grazing his chapped lips "I don't have time for this." He pulled out a pistol which had been secretly holstered in his vest.
09 had 17 in his sights "It's too late 17 for cold feet. By the time you get back to Lazarus it will be dark. What will the odds be then? Pull off the rifle and hand it over."
He had to bluff time was of the essence. Besides he'd get the answers he wanted. It's not like he'd actually shoot him it was an unloaded gun, but he didn't know that none of them did.
However he did now grasp that the trust they shared was gone, that was a small price to pay compared to 17, 23 or any of them dying. They would die for sure if they left now, the Shadow creatures were quite active in this area. Maybe because of the shadow from the rocks.
-
*Cocks shotgun* "Put down the gun 23." Tand says because he trusts 09, like he did 99. "09 knows what he's doing." He doesn't bring up his gun but, he'll do it in a split second if it comes to it.
-
Jacob growls and looks over each of them, the gun still tight in his paw. "Im wearing a vest **censor**, you think youll be able to get a head shot on me with that dinky little handgun before I raise my rifle a and shoot you all down?"
"Please please there is no need for this! We'll come along and do whatever you say, we dont need to fight!" Aaron pleaded, turning to face Jacob. "Just put the gun down Jake, they are to much of a match."
"Aaron you cowerdly little bastard." Jacob hissed, tossing the rifle to the ground. He reached down and unsheathed his trench knife, figuring they would want it also. Once he was unarmed he walked grabbed ahold of Aaron, yanking the husky behind him while he glared at the other three runners. "For now on you stay behind me, is that understood?" He growled at the husky.
-
"Oh thank god." He says relief evident in his voice. He puts his shotgun back on his back. *Bends down to pick up the rifle, tosses the knife back at 17* "You might need this." He then goes back into his position in his back.
-
(That might not of been the smartest idea : P) Jacob bends down to pick up the knife, raising a confused eyebrow at Tand. The idiot gave him his knife back, but he wasnt complaining. He didnt need a rifle to kill. Lacing his fingers through the brass knuckle handle, the fox kept the knife down at his side and a little behind him, trying to conceal it the best he could.
-
"Can we move today" I drawled across the radio "your squabble is boring me, follow the directions and I'll meet you." As I stand up and check my rifle again through the scope I can see the runners
-
Tand realises the dude might think he's an idiot but he remembered, he has his brass knuckles. He also has his shotgun, and the rifle. "Don't get any ideas, there's more of us than you." He continues on.
(My character knows what he's doing... mostly, I'm trying not to be a jerk.)
-
"Any more questions? No. Good." His eyes fell on 11 the guilt prickling him as he shouldered 17's rifle.
Trinity kept his .40 the crosshairs of his pistol fixed on them. He gestured for 11 and 01 to follow 17 and 23 in with his firearm. The fox followed them into the cave, the darkness submersing then.
There was a panic a moment as he lit the road flare, he hated being in the dark even though his sixth sense hadn't tingled yet.
Trinity threw the flare at 01 since he was between them "Here."
His paw flipped the eye patch up so he could see. He had always kept one eye in the dark, it gave him somewhat of an upper hand in the darkness.
17 and 23 had journeyed to the beginning of a slope leading yet deeper into the pit, 11 and 01 arrived there also. Meanwhile Trinity had maintained the rear watching behind him, his gun steadily in his paw though it gave him no prowess.
The Arch-Runner dropped the satchel and instructed 01 to take out the rope and tie it around one of the stalagmites. He nervously reached down and keyed the radio on his belt. There was a hiss of interference, Trinity knew instantly they weren't alone. 'Shadow Slayers' we're know to emit an electrical charge which interrupted radio traffic in a distinct squeal.
His fear was confirmed further when a trilling echoed down the cave "Open the damn door, there's a Slayer out here!"
01 had tied the rope and Trinity fired several poorly aim shots at the mouth of the cave. He didn't know where it was since the naked eye couldn't see them. He just wanted to hold it off for a few seconds.
"Climb down the rope. Now!"
-
"Come.... Dow... Paces... Left" shit I thought there's something in there I cleared it earlier "running down the stairs I unbolt the steel door with the rock like surface on the other side "over here" I yell hoping my voice would guide them since the radio wouldn't
-
Zaida stayed calm, as much as she hated following orders however they were in danger of a slayer so she didn't argue. Grabbing the rope first she began to climb down watching her feet carefully.
Looking up to see if the others would make it, keeping her pace before reaching the bottom. The Serynx let go falling on the floor her knee's bent slightly to avoid damage when landing.
-
Jacob shoved Aaron over ti the rope first, ordering him down as he watched behind them, adrenaline rushing through his veins. The husky dropped down and quickly followed after Zaida, turning back once just in time to see Jacob begin hus decent down the rope, not even bothering to climb, but slide down it, landing on the rock floor with a heavy thud before trailing after the other runners.
-
Tand says "09 after you, I'll hold them off." He pulls his shotgun off. "Go now." He put a few flares around. He saw some movement he fires. "GET YOUR ASS DOWN!"
-
His mind was drifting back in time and he stood paralyzed in fear as the creature came closer. And then he saw 01 grabbing his shoulder and rocking him alert. There was a whistle as something traveled through the air it landed right between the Lazarus Runners. They couldn't see it but judging by the explosion it was nearly feet from their position.
The force of the impact blew them back and down the slope, Trinity landed unconscious. His body slumped over in pain but 01 was nearly there in time to grab him. They brought 01 and 9 to safety.
They could hear it angrily screech as it paced back and forth above. Her-the monster's profile barily visible except the footprints it left behind.
When he was gaining consciousness in the arms of 01 Ripley and the rogue were pulling them inside.
-
"Damn it that **censor** thing has been tracking me the last week" as lifted trinity's body and carried him to a bench "I never thought it would attack now of all times" turning to the rest of the runners "now why are all of you here I was told that only two, three max, runners and we have five showing up on our door step" the last words addressed to Ripley the scientist
-
"Well, that hurt." Tand says feeling the pain seep into his side."Who's idea was it anyways?" He asks looking for wounds/scars. He gets up and asks 09 and 11, "You both okay?" He then asked 17 and 23, "and sorry for threatening you guys." He thought *censored* i need some medical attention. his leg slightly bleeding.
-
"I'm fine." Zaida huffed as she was on her knee's. The Serynx had a cut on her arm and some bruises as she had fell on her side, getting to her feet she brushed it off. She ran a paw through her hair before giving a soft sigh. "Does it really matter how many of us are here? I don't appreciate being lied to as well" she looked at the unconscious fox "this scientist better know what he's talking about... I'm already getting frustrated." she said coldly. "This better be worth it, some of you almost got killed and Velox taught not to **censor** around..." she finished with a hiss.
-
"Oy, Scientist, Rogue we need medical attention over here!" He said as he winced and limped up to them. "Make sure she gets attention first." He said pointing at 11. "I'll be fine for now." He said steel in his face from emotions and pain.
-
"Fine come over here and sit down" as I pull out bandages and other medical supplies "I'll patch you up"
-
"No need to waist material. I don't need medical attention, I'm perfectly fine." She said soothingly "The damage is like falling off a motorcycle. I'm sure I'll live." she said crossing her arm over her breasts.
-
"Thanks but ill be fine." Tand says "but 09 needs healing."
-
"He will be fine just concussed possibly a busted ear drum I checked him earlier" moving over to sit 09 up "okay this will wake him up" popping a ammonia packet and wafting it under his nose "come on buddy wake up"
-
Aaron sat on the ground and held his face in his hands, running his fingers through his fur as he shook with adrenaline. Jacob knelt beside him, taking a look over his shoulder to glare at the other runners before turning back to the husky. "Pull yourself the **censor** together, we need to find a way out of here. I just need to get my rifle back and we are getting the **censor** out." He mumbled, taking one more glance back as he thought up a plan.
-
"What *censor* was I doing trusting, 09 its like I was n a trance." He whispered to himself, "It was probably because he knew 99." Never trusting anyone I don't know to well again, except people who haven't lied to me, he though about 11, 17, 23. He gets up "Welp, ima go see I its still out there."
-
As the door slide shut behind them. An ominous sense of claustrophobia hit. Trinity was slowly recovering from the concussion, the room spun as if it were on a platform. The false mirror was replaced with a window which gave a visual of their laboratory. Down below was the scientist, she was concocting a new experiment.
Ripley saw the room rotate and eventually made her way up to the room. Her lab coat was long enough to drag on the concrete floor. Upon closer inspection they had realized this used to be the old hanger the Air Force used.
She slid into a chair and rolled over to look at Trinity. Not a word left her mouth just an obvious sigh of frustration as she played with the hair in his face.
"Taero. Get me a shot of that Dilaudid." She pointed to the syringe on the metal table.
After a moment of administering the medication she happened to glance over at 17, 23, 01 and 11. Her eyes stayed on 11 as if a slight jealous of her.
The Labrador-Ripley, stood up her high heels clicking as she moved over to the holographic image hovering over her main desk.
She collapsed the hologram and returned her tired, jade eyes to them "Do you know what this is?"
A piece of wreckage sat in the middle of her desk. There were wires all hooked up to it and at times glowed.
"This is what remains of our physics observatory in Port Station." Her eyes kept on it and they could see almost vicariously how many hours shed spent before hand like she did now....just looking at it.
"These beings aren't what you think they are. They're not aliens, they came from our world."
Trinity by now was starting to wake up and groan.
-
Stepping to his side "are you okay sit up easy not to fast" as I help trinity up turning to Ripley "I offered them medical care but they refused" gesturing to the wounded runners
-
Her glowing eyes met the scientist. However ignored, not fond of her as well, and wasn't much of a competition...but the faster this goes the sooner the Serynx can leave, all she wanted was a bit more information.
Zaida crossed her arms over her breasts as she listened leaning against the wall. She stayed silent however she knew a fair amount about the shadow creatures that lurked around the world.
-
She was walking over to Trinity, holding him up as well "Get this one the cell reconstructor." Ripley grabbed 01's arm and led him to the bench opposite of Trinity.
The scientist returned to Trinity, leaned over his her hair tickling his face "I'm sorry. It was a mistake. All of it has been a mistake."
Trinity sat up, his paw resting on her cheek "What? What's wrong?"
"The Slayers..." She couldn't look him in the eye could only look away "...we just didn't know."
A distressed tear rolled down her face and she hugged him tightly "Dr. what do you mean?"
He dangled his feet off the bench, wrestling through the dizziness the Arch-Runner watched the chunk of electrical conduit on her desk.
The fox limped over to it pushin her gently aside, the scale reading the activity off it beeped and flatlined irregularly.
"Back when I was a member of the board we were measuring physics and they're reaction on a molecular level. At a base near Port Station." She cradled her head and sobbed.
"We had set up an abnormally large current of electrical magnetic energy to splice an atom. The day I left there was an accident. The entire operation was shut down because of an explosion." Trinity held the wreckage.
"With that amount of electromagnetic energy science can't even begin to explain what happened. It fried the molecules in the atmosphere and combined them to create a physical mass. One not easily visible to the naked eye. However it blew gravity out of the equation and the energy was able to bond."
The Arch-Runner felt a heartbeat through his gloves coming from the metal conduit, he dropped it onto the table and turned to Ripley horrified.
As he looked down at it the same noise interrupted the radio on his waist just like the Slayer "We did it. Trinity. We created them."
09 pulled out his gun and shot the block of metal until it disassembled "That's impossible!"
-
"WHOAH STOP YOUR DAMN SHOOTING! THAT COULD RICOCHET!" Tand yelled, worried more for his companions safety rather then his own. "Jeez is it really impossible? No it isn't, think about it." He said knowin full well it coulda happened. "Now put the gun down, and ill feel safer."
-
Jacob walked up to stand next to Tand, jabbing a finger at the scientist. "YOU created these things? Oh man, well isnt this **censor** GREAT." He growled, his paw gripping tighlty around his knife. "The whole world is gone, and has become a living HELL because you couldnt keep your paws off of something you shouldnt of been messing with!"
-
"Well ain't this dandy," Tand says walking towards the door. He opens and here's a screech. "Your children don't seem to like you." He reloads his shotgun, and cocks it, "So how do we kill these things?"
-
Ripley backed up against the wall as Jacob pushed her back "It is the beast 01, we created them. The whole reason you're a Runner is because of them-the Slayers."
Trinity sat his gun on the table "You're right 01 there's no reason for unnecessary risks." The red fox looked over at the circuit "So you're saying this energy formed a body, a being? Why does it want to hurt us?"
"Is it so hard to believe every living thing gives off its own inner energy? It's drawn to you just like electricity magnetizes. It needs it." Taero grabbed Jacobs shoulders and pushed him off Ripley.
"But if it were a form of electricity wouldn't we be able to see it?"
She couched holding her throat where Jacob had his hand "You can't see electricity only the spark, this occurs when the oxygen particles in the air burn."
"But it's a living conscious. And we've seen them! I've seen them they're reptilian creatures!"
"When the mind is under an immense amount of stress you can project what something looks like. You're greatest fear. In all of your cases they were believed to be aliens so you assumed that's what they look like." Trinity held his head.
"It threw something at us. Didn't you see that?"
She moved to the window "Slayers can send an electrical charge as if it were a bomb."
-
"Fantastic" she chuckled coldly, the Serynx grabbed the bridge of her snout beginning to snarl. "Watching my parents get mauled as a child, getting chased and thrown around, losing my sanity... Because of your testing?" she hissed coldly, Pointing at Ripley her claws retracted.
"A good amount of people died, no one is safe now, you DO understand that!... You think your crying it's going to **censor** work. Perhaps make us feel bad for you 'scientists'. Your crying?!" She chuckled. "Of course pity, pity, pity." She shook her head. "There must be a special place in hell for you" she growled lowly crossing her arms. "An i'd love to escort you there..." She finished.
-
She turned to 01 "If we created them with electricity then we could destroy them with it."
There was a reflection of laboratory light as it shined off Ripley's glasses "I can assure you I'm not at fault. That explosion was a malfunction caused by the schematics our engineers designed."
Trinity glanced over at 11 saddened by her loses but returned to the scientist "What are you suggesting we do?"
"There's an old abandoned Power Plant in Port Station. It's where our equipment is, if we could some how lure it there we could conduct a charge powerful enough to kill it." She laid out a map of Port Station.
"You're forgetting something...it's pretty much invisible. How would we know where it is?" 17 was coming to the table also.
"Any ideas?"
-
Tand gets up, "we see it by making it see us, I volunteer as bait." He said wanting vengeance for 99. He cleans his weapon "When do we begin?"
-
"You're gonna need a good team effort this cannot be done alone." Ripley spoke to Taero "You need to go with them, you'll need all the help you can get."
"Wait! Before we do anything. How do we know this...thing won't know what we're planning? We don't even know what kind of intelligence we're facing here."
"That I can't help you with, you'll have to just trust your instincts." She walked over to a chest or rather heavily armored box and opened it.
"This is our sonic pulse emitter. Every 15 seconds it emits a sonic wave link which will pick up any electromagnetic energy within one mile. You'll be able to tell where it's at." The Labrador came up to Trinity their eyes locking for a moment.
"There are suits also we have that won't save your life but they're durable and lightweight. Beyond that there's nothing I can do."
"We will need a better plan than that 01 if we're going to catch this thing." Trinity came up to Draak.
-
Jacob growls and walks away from the scientist, going over to Tand and ripping his M-14 off his shoulder. "**censor** give me that. And making it see you is the stupidest idea ive ever heard, that thing will tear you apart the moment it catches you. No, if these things are truly electric, then we need a conductor."
-
"Listen up I've killed more of these than you've probably seen" I calmly reload my pistol "they are the worlds greatest predator, rely on your senses instincts of you randomly feel like diving forward do it" turning to them showing the scar on my chest "instinct, I had a gut feeling to jump backwards so it's only grazed me, there armor is almost impenetrable a fifty cal at close range may do it but I've never tried your only chance is there mouth no armor but typically if your that close your already dead since they are electrical in nature your best warning is when your hairs start to static" starting forward "oh by the way they don't track multiple targets it will pick someone to kill make sure you stay close together"
-
"Unfortunatey we don't have access to that kind of technology yet. Right now there isn't a conductor out there strong enough to hold this energy. Believe me, we've tried me and 99." Trinity put the pistol back in his holster he leaned up against the wall and lit a cigarette with the match he stroked on his boot.
"Course that was when we thought we were dealing with an alien attracted to energy. We were only half right. The Slayer blew the conductor into pieces." The red fox flipped down his eye patch and cast a glance at 11.
"01 if you're going to be bait then someone else who's agile should go with if I'm running the sonic emitter. Someone smart like 11."
-
"Deal," Tand says gruffly, now how to get their attention he thought while scratching his chin. "Sooooo when do we start?" He asked excited finally gonna get my revenge.
-
"You don't understand it is going to pick a target it's as likely to be anyone unless you shoot it then you'll just piss it the **censor** off" oh well I thought they wanna hunt we will hunt "all I can say is everyone be prepared for it" then I unbolt the door and step into the darkness
-
"We need live bait but 17 may be right. If we can lure it to the power plant we could turn on the conductor it doesn't have to destroy it, just keep it in one spot." He went into the separate room and turned in the light.
There were two rows of suits, space grey colored which looked slightly snug. The fox closed the door and changed into it, it fit his figure nicely and accented his body. The helmet was odd tho, he could not tell which side was the front.
There were six holes in the mask/helmet glass windows two for his eyes two down by his cheek and yet another pair above his chin.
They grew smaller as the went down and the helmet's opposing side was similar. He guessed this was a tactical advantage, like the Slayer wouldn't attack him if it thought he was looking at him. The gloves also had false hands attached to the back of his hand.
As he came out the fox garnered some attention "Why do they like the darkness?"
"Radio waves are electricity. Ever noticed how much of a better signal you get when the weather is cloudy? It's because the signal is forced downward and becomes more powerful instead of skipping over the atmosphere. They like the shade because it's more comfortable to them." Ripley's eyes hit his shoulders slowly slide down the rest of his body.
"Looks like you found the right fit." He held up his arm and pinched the fabric around him, "It's quite tight actually."
Trinity turned to 17 "You coming?"
-
"Am I coming?" Jacob said, almost as if Trinity had offended him. "You see that guy over there?" He asked, pointing to Aaron. "Its my job to protect him, get him back to The Reach in one peice. And might of been able to do that, if any of you were even half competent! Tand and Mr Hunter over there want to just take a **censor** walk through the dark and grab its attention and **censor** wing it from there, in the middle of a pitch black cave, which is **censor** SUICIDAL! Thats like walking through a minefield blindfolded! And you want to drag us with them!" The fox scowled, leaning against the wall. "You are all morons, Im quite surprised any of you have managed to last this long because its quite clear logic is not any of yours strong suit. Im not going anywhere until we have a plan that dosent involve us becoming cannon fodder. Actually you know what? I have an idea. You guys can go out and grab the things attention, and while its tearing you apart, Ill sneak past and leave."
-
"17s right we would die if went at it head on, I got distracted for a sec there." Tand says trying to salvage his reputation, "We need a real plan."
-
Trinity blank expression turned into a smirk "Boy one little dark cloud on your horizons and you go all to pieces don't ya. These are the best chances we've had to stop these things..."
He took off the helmet his long white scarf blowing in a subtle breeze of a ceiling fan, the long strands of blonde hair fell over his face "...and you're too coward to do it. What happened to Skyreach I thought they had 'tough personnel'?"
There was a glimmer of his pearl canines as they revealed an impish smile "If any of you has a better plan spit it out? We have an emitter to see the damn thing, bait to get him there and a trap."
-
Tand, realises he was questioning manliness everyone's manliness. "Lets he to it," he barked "I will have my manliness questioned!" He stare at every one,"but In order for this to work we need everyone" he addressed them. "So are we gonna sit on our asses, or actually fight?"
-
Jacob scowled as he got off the wall, walking over to stand meer inches from Trinity. "Skyreach does have some of the toughest personnal, and yourr looking at one of them. But you see, toughness and intelligence have to go hand in hand, and I can ignore your petty insults because I actually value my life. The "plan" you have can only work if we get out of this **censor** pitch black cave, which is the perfect hunting ground for these things. Using yourself or other people as bait are only going to end in shreaded carcasses." The grayfox crossed his arms and shook his head, simply not fathoming the stupidity of the vulpine in front of him. "We cant leave, not while its dark in there anyways. We need light, bright enough to chase that thing back into the shadows."
-
Tand looks at Ripley and smirks, "You got lights?" He asked ready to get this done excitement overflowing his gruff southern accent. "I'm still the bait," he said mot wanting anyone else to get hurt.
