Hello everyone. My name is Mint and, as you can probably guess, I'm new to the forum. First off, allow me to explain why I'm here. To begin with, I am an animal lover, owning two cats, three dogs, and three blue crested conures. I have spent many days wondering what it would be like to be a cat and prowl the dark streets at night, or to be a bird and soar through open skies.
We all have an image that we hold of ourselves, something that is different from what other people see. It is the person we imagine ourselves to be, that we wish we were. For some, that image is clear. For others, it is not. I know only that I imagine myself as being something other than human, but what it is, I don't know.
If at times I seem a little ignorant, that's because I am. I know now that a furry fan base exists, but that is the extent of my knowledge. This is my first real venture into the furry world, so I guess you could say I'm testing the waters. To begin with, I'd just like to find out who my furry alter ego really is. After that, who knows?
Any information of how to become more familiar with the furry community and it's ways would be most appreciated.

Well, that's a lie. I've been, let's say, "observing" the darker side of the fandom for many years, but I'm not completely fur because of those reasons. Furrydom is about letting go, in all aspects, and sometimes that can be overwhelming. The fandom seems to pick and choose who it wants, as I haven't heard of many people just going from "I hate furs", to "I love furs", as in some acquired taste fashion. Take what you need out of it, however; there are lots sub-sections of the fandom you can learn from and adapt to.
As far as your fursona goes, it may take some time. It took me nearly half a decade to decide on one. I've heard that taking three characteristics of yourself and turning them into a tangible entity works well.

Welcome to the forums! :th_Pyong-1: It's okay, sometimes it takes time to develop your fursona. Usually, people choose what animal they feel the closest with.
