You know what really gets my blood boiling? When ever I see some kid with their headphones while they're eating dinner or shopping with their parents or grandparents. I can't even begin to describe how much this p*sses me off. I've seen it where I work where this kid was sitting with his grandma, and he had his headphones in not even talking to her. I wanted to go over there and snatch them out of his stupid head to be honest. I mean your grandma wants to spend time with you and you're too busy ignoring her listening to your sh*tty music. Have any of you seen this before?

Does this include car rides?
Cus whenever I've been in the car with my parents, 90% of the time it consisted of heaving headphones on.
-
Not really. It's mostly targeted towards people who do it when your parents or grandparents want to spend time with you. Like the kid described in the OP.
-
Aaah yeah, that's annoying as hell. Granted, I grew up in a family where during moments like that, you generally weren't "allowed" to have stuff like that out and about. Like if I went to the Christmas party, I wasn't really supposed to bring my Gameboy, music, etc.
It must be another generational thing. *Shrugs* I imagine it's like those kids that constantly text under the table when eating dinner with their parents.
-
Yeah same here.
It's kind of annoying when I see a group of friends sitting at a table, and they all have their heads down on their phone. Like what was the point of even getting together for dinner?
-
Especially when they're either looking down under the table, while scarfing down their food as fast as they can so they can get out of there and not hang out some more.
Like, it seems to be a constant that people don't just take the time to sit and enjoy a meal and their company. I had this with all my friends where their food would be finished before I'm even halfway through mine, because I'm actually conversing and they're just... Yeah.

The Cuboyd sums this up nicely:

Why do kids do that!?!? My sister and I are more huggy and lovey with our parents and grandmother than them!!!
(Edit: I meant huggy. Oops.)

My brother does this at the dinner table constantly checking the computer and watching it (Not headphones but same concept) I turn of the computer and he gets angry at me
-
Reminds me of the other day I was riding the bus like usual, and then I looked up to see most of the people near me with headphones/earbuds in. Made me go "huh". But I guess it's not an issue to me in that situation since nobody really talks on the bus and/or is to tired to anyway.
I don't eat out too often so I don't know how many people near me will just tune others out while eating. To be honest I'm not the most close to my parents but I will at least have a decent conversation, and I never use my phone. I guess it still doesn't bother me too much either, since if the other person really wanted to talk to the headphon-ee they can just ask them to please put the music away themselves.
-
Valentina, your brother shouldn't get angry at you. He is a butthead. My sis would understand if I told her to put her crap away, and if she didn't do it, my parents would tell her forcefully to put it down for at least ten seconds.
-
Its ok ^>^ he listens most of the time and usually my dad yells at him if he doesn't
-
It doesn't matter. He shouldn't get angry. He should listen to you ALL THE TIME.
-
I used to do the whole headphones thing. Always kept one out so I could hear my surroundings and others. Now I can't stand the idea of walking around with any in.
There's so many interesting sounds to listen to in the world and not listening to music 24/7 makes it all the more precious when I do listen to music.
Besides, I hate being robbed of any of my senses!
-
Welp, there's really nothing we can do.

Throw something at them? If they complain, tell them they should pay attention like a good person. Then throw something at them again for good measure. 0:)

That's one way :P
