So, I do not have a species yet.. *flails on floor* I don't know what I want to be but mouse, canine, and feline are something I might like. If anyone could maybe possibly help please comment.. *blushes crimson and hides*

Pick the one that you feel fits you best, and if you really can't decide, don't be afraid to have multiple fursonas, I personally have 3. A snake, a koala, and of course a wolf. Each represents a different part of me, as well as being people in their own right. ^_^

Choose what works for you. Or perhaps what goes against yourself? Some people mirror themselves in a fursona, others create an opposite, or something in-between.
I am biased to mythological species and predators. If my explanation seems vague, let me know.

Hey there! I am a mix of things thrown in a blender, but it needn't be so complex for you. I would think everybody comes to their fursona differently, but I sort of just stumbled upon mine. It may be the same for you, but like the others have said, perhaps an animal you have an affinity for would be best.

In regards to species, before I settled down on Nemael (shown in my avatar), I would come up with random and unusual designs just so they would be unique and stand out against everyone else. Which actually only worked towards leaving me incredibly unhappy with them in the end. I also tended to follow a similar base for the majority of the time, recycling the head for another body and so on.
Only recently I actually acted on putting together the animals my mum said she felt suited me best, which birthed Nemael so to speak. He is a mixture of various birds, a male and female lion, bat, some sort of reptile, the original species I mentioned for the tail and another I created previously for the ears, some seal point blended together from various dogs and cats, and some tattoos/brands that I have always been obsessed with. He is a huge amalgamation of animals that came to create one coherent image and it has been the only concept I have ever fallen completely in love with. I adored my previous, especially my synthetic named Zha (Qi-sha-ri'Zha), but he paled in comparison to this fellow.
I suppose what I am trying to say is that you shouldn't be afraid to make a blend of all of the creatures/animals you love, whether real or mythological. You also should not be afraid to experiment and try on different designs (so to speak). It took me 13 years to actually find and settle on this guy, though you think I would have taken a hint when I kept turning one of my very first OCs into a feline-esque creature from her original Weyuri design (she was half Weyuri, half feathered serpent)!

I've seen quite a few different kinds of species on here so if I was give a suggestion I could let my bias say wolf :P or if you are looking for something different I'd suggest a panther or jaguar :3

As for picking a fursona, it's like Angder said; don't be afraid to have multiple fursonas! I have quite a few, myself, but identify with three the absolute most.
