I actually need you guys to answer a question for me- do you think that there will still be fur meet ups and cons in three or four years? Because my parents won't let me get a fursuit or go to any, so I have to wait until college (Or I might be able to convince my parents to let me senior year). And I'm just really scared that by the time I actually get a fursuit, and I can decide for myself to go to a meetup, there won't be any more cons or meet ups. I know this probably sounds like a very silly and possibly stupid question, but my anxiety's getting the best of me. It's just it looks like so much fun, and you all are such nice people.......
So do you think so?

Furries are a large community, and people in general are growing more accepting, it's vastly more likely for you to drop out of the fandom yourself, than every single convention ever spontaneously stopped happening in under 5 years.
Furries have been around as early as the 1980's, and I have seen no sign of them slowing down recently. that's 30 years of fandom.

Being furry isn't a fad. (Well for some people it is), but for the most part it seems to be hard-wired into humans, or at least we are born with the wiring in place and once it is triggered, then it becomes who we are. I was a furry for over a decade before i interacted with another fur, which was this year. I was a furry before i even discovered furries. I thought i was all alone for years. So that's why i believe it is something that will always exist. In the same way that being gay or black or male isn't a fad, but rather part of who we are.

When you think about it, there are several early religions who made use of animalistic humans as iconic figures in their beliefs. There have always been associations between animals and certain human characteristics.
The underlying motivation to join human and animal traits has existed for millennia. This is just one more incarnation of it.

What if in the future when we have the ability to time travel, a fursuiter goes back in time and is witnessed by ancient humans who interpret them as gods and that led to the hieroglyphs we know today XD

Believe it or not year by year it's growing larger ^^ which is great, even though my parents approve of me in fandoms, especially the furry fandom I don't have enough money to afford or create a fursuit for now... Even or if I eventually do, I'll have to get money for cons, ect. So I might be stuck waiting for four or five years as well, but I'm pretty sure the fandoms will still be around maybe even bigger, so don't stress yourself out

I think that, not only will there be cons in three to four years, but there will be more. Pretty much like Zaida thinks. The chances of the fandom dying in three to four years are fairly low, in comparison to the chances of it growing. Even if the internet shuts down, I'm fairly certain that furs will find some way to still meet up, share art, role play and just be furries. Don't worry girl! You'll get your chance eventually~ I hope that comes sooner than you think!

Yeah i dont see us going anywhere anthrocon is somewhere over 6000 attendees I believe. MFF is over 4000 I believe. Dont qoute memon those numbers. Right here in MN we have furymigration going into its second year with almost a 1000 pre registered. Europe has as many cons if not more than we have in the US, were not going anywhere were here to sit stay.
