Title: How Confused do People Get When They Hear Your Voice?

There are many possible occasions where a person might hear your voice before they see your face, or vice versa.
How are you affected specifically?


When it comes to Skype calls, I often have to first convince many people that I'm not a 20-25 year old. When I was being evaluated for a music camp chorus and I first spoke, I saw several people look surprised at the pitch of my voice. Some of the evaluators visibly looked behind me trying to find an older speaker.

When my friends call I usually get "is jimmy there" ... And when I'm in a skype
Call I usually get "how old are you?....... No way!" Because I have the voice of a child.

I sound like a five your old boy... And when seeing me they sometimes think I'm 10 :T but eh I don't mind, just not skyping much since my voice is cracking, it's been doing that lately x0

I'm a 20-year-old female with the voice of a 12 to 13-year-old boy, and I've been mistaken for such on Second Life and other voice chat things. I wish I sounded a little older. I'm totally fine with sounding kinda like a guy (I actually want that, tbh), I just don't like being mistaken for a kid. X_x;;

I've got a rather deep voice despite my slim appearance, it makes me sound older than I am - I'm starting to reach the point where my voice somewhat suits my age.
Other than that, I'm actually foreign to English, but I speak it more or less fluently, so I sometimes have to convince people, that I've never been to the States or any country where the primary language is English, let alone lived there. When I got my grade at my oral English exam, I was asked how long I had lived in the States by the censor, I was amused by that.

Even though I'm Danish, I don't speak with that horrible hot-potato-in-the-mouth accent, I honestly don't think that my voice gives away my nationality/origin. One of my fellow gamers, back when I was addicted to WoW, claimed that she'd have her way with my voice if my voice was a person. Flattering, but creepy. x3
