Tea. After water it's the most consumed drink in the world.
Yeah, let that sink in. Infuse if you will...
Black tea, green tea, or herbal tea (aka tisanes or infusions which aren't technically tea), this is the thread to express your tea preferences, discuss tea issues or for the non-tea drinkers, find out what all the excitement is about!
So put the kettle on, grab a cup and pull up a seat - IT'S TEA TIME!
-
I literally cannot survive a day unless I have two cups of tea at some point during it. Usually, one in the morning and one in the evening. It's either the caffeine or my English blood that causes me to do so, but I've never known which.
Black tea is best tea, but I usually add milk.
-
Fruit tea. My goodness I love fruit tea. I have about five cups a day. I feel grumpy without it.
-
I admit I drink coffee for the caffeine but tea for the taste.
My childhood teas were English Breakfast, Irish Breakfast and Orange Pekoe.
As I matured into a sophisticated 12 year old I took up Lady Grey because I found Earl Grey too strong a flavour, but I transitioned into it in my teens and Earl Grey is still my favourite, even though I might have a green tea/mint blend on the side occasionally.
I grew up brewing pots of tea but these days I only ever really use teabags for convenience.
-
I tend to like green tea the best. I don't know if I've lost the taste for black tea...
-
I like all kinds of tea! When I used to go to a Buddhist temple I learned some tea ceremony stuff but gosh that tea was /bitter/ and supposed to be drank while it was scalding. My favorite teas always have lemon, though. Lemon or blueberry.
-
Oooh! blueberry! Nice :D
I have milk (plenty of it!) and two sugars with my black tea. No milk and one sugar with green and herbal tea.
-
Look at all these plebs with their tea.
Coffee master race ftw
-
Tea is beautiful
-
I like chamomile tea when i can't sleep a couple cups and im out for the night
-
I have english breakfast for breakfast and throughout the day I'll drink from a selection of royal green tea, rooibos or darjeeling
I may even blend two of them together
-
I usually have 1-2 cups of tea per day. But since I don't shop for myself it's usually just the Lipton tea bags from a box. Which are some kind of black tea.
-
"Russian Earl Grey" as says Lipton, but I know this little shop where they sell plenty of teas and I'd like to try the mango one... Which is Black Ceylan... But the shop is in Rennes, so... I think I'm gonna be the only one which can buy things there... In the shop in Rennes
-
I really enjoy drinking Green Tea or Sweet tea ^^
-
I just discovered blackcurrent and vanilla tea. Very nice, but a bit dry.
-
I used to be a bubble tea maker at my previous job, I would make all kinds of milk teas and fruity tea drinks ^_^
I love Matcha Milk Tea and especially Matcha Smoothies ^_^
-
Chamomile tea is my sleep aid, but I drink others during the day. I don't use storebought teabags as much, I prefer using my own ingredients.
-
I tried making my own tea, I grew a bunch of mint and everything. It was terrible

Just depends on what you use. Some kinds of mint don't work well in tea. I grew the wrong kind of mint once and tried mixing it with orange peel and honey. It turned out nasty as well.
-
I wish I could be bothered to make my own, that's so amazing!
I love tea when I'm sick. Definitely counts as medicine.
-
Technically tea can only come from one plant. Camellia Sinensis.
If it comes from anything else it's called a herbal tea and technically isn't a tea. I recommend learning how various herbs interact with hot water and how to release their flavours.
An example would be your orange peel. When you boil it, you're removing from the skin what makes it bitter and nasty and leaving it in the water.
The majority of herbal teas are also dried beforehand.
-
Very pithy Razot ;)
-
I know mah stuffZ with a capital Z
-
That is a lot of stuffZ.
I'm about to crack open a mango flavoured iced green tea. I have to admit, I'm not feeling optimistic.
-
/burst through a wall/
TEA??
How did I not see this thread before!!
I drink honey vanilla chamomile and then there is a specific sleepy tea I drink before bed which has mint in it. Oh, it's not actually a tea either.
-
I was thinking the same thing.
I drink quite a lot of tea, and most definitely have it everyday.
But any tea really as long as it is tea.
-
I'm so glad I included herbal teas in the OP, or we'd be in BIG trouble >.>
Here's a question. Are there any teas people really don't like?
For me Lapsang souchong is just horrible!
-
I gotta think green tea is my least favorite
-
Honestly as someone who is most definitely a tea drinker, I haven't tried many different types of tea. I usually just have my normal tea with milk and that is it, although I can drink it black, milky, cold or hot. Tea is tea to me in the end.
Although I have had quite a few herbal teas such as various berry flavours and the like.
In the future I intend on trying many different types. Lapsang souchong will definitely be on there, that sounds pretty exotic.
The last time I had green tea I didn't like it, but I think it was quite out of date >_>
-
I like it white with two sugars. But I'll put up with it almost anyway. I regularly leave a cup steeping and forget it then drink it cold. I don't like it that way, it just happens a bunch.
One of my most favouritest teas ever is billy tea brew over a camp fire served in enamel mugs using sweetened condensed milk.
That is nostalgia in a cup right there my friends!
-
I tend to do that, but leaving the tea bag in steeping. XD Then have to chuck in milk and drink it. I don't dislike cold tea, but I definitely prefer it hot. :)
Billy tea brew, camp fire and condensed milk. Just a hot mug of tea while camping is nostalgic enough and great after a busy day.
-
Hmmm, maybe we need a camping RP thread... Sleeping bags are fun!! ^_^
Here's something I stumbled across which I had never considered:
Food recipes (http://www.sunset.com/food-wine/kitchen-assistant/tea-recipes)using tea
-
Wow that looks nice.
-
Not too long ago I cooked some chicken in rooibos tea with lemon and had it like a soup with noodles.
-
I prefer Coca Cola! ^~^
-
Maybe you should start a Coke thread Caitey?
I know at least one gold fish that likes it ^_^
-
I only drink iced sweet tea. I've had hot tea before, but it's never really been something I've enjoyed drinking. I don't really like warm drinks in general, but I do love sweet tea. lol
-
Oh oh oh! Earl Grey and Chai! I usually drink Earl Grey with a bit of cream and some sugar. Chai just with a bit of honey.
Also if you like iced tea, Peach Tea with some lemon and sugar makes amazing iced tea!
-
Tea is SUPER popular in the outh here especially, but I cnt seem to get with the times. XP
-
Hi Tess!
Has anybody else had instant tea powder? I've only had it once but it wasn't as horrible as I'd imagined
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tea#Instant_tea (http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tea#Instant_tea)
-
I have never had instant tea, sounds pretty different and probably worth a try.
-
Always like having a cup of tea in the evening as i wind down. Usually earl grey with 2TBspoon of cream and 1 teaspoon of sugar.
Through the day i like having some chai tea, though its hit or miss if i actually sit there and bring milk to a boil with tea and clove and black pepper and anise... too lazy for all that regularly ^^;
-
Early Grey is my go to tea, but now I like it even more because it makes me think of Grey the wolfcoon.
Are you super fussy about your water temperature when making tea?
It is actually one of the rare things I feel guilty about if I don't get the kettle as it boils, I feel like I've let down Douglas Adams otherwise.
-
I have to boil my tea all the way. Then leave it boiling for a while. Then leave to cool right down before I drink it.
-
I boil it and pretty much instantly pour it. I don't have to do it that way, but I usually do.
-
This is the article that forever links Douglas Adams and Tea for me. Yeah you'd think it might have been reading The Long Dark Tea-Time of the Soul, but no.

tea should be as bitter as worm wood and sharp as a serpents tooth
-
I found my green tea!! It was missing presumed consumed) but it was hiding behind a green curry kit. I swear I don't sort things by colour in my pantry >.>
