I have some sad news for any Star Trek fans. This morning, Leonard Nimoy died, as a result of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Live Long and Prosper in the great realms of space, Leonard. ;-;

What I find interesting about these things is people focus primarily on the fictional character, rather than the real one, in their memorial posts.

Oh no! I hadn't heard this :'(
That breaks my heart. Yes I like Star Trek and especially Classic Trek, Nimoy was a great writer. The Entropy Effect is the only ST novel I've read (written by Nimoy) and I loved it. I've also read both his autobiographies: I am not Spock in which he talks a lot about how he actually did a whole other bunch of great work so please stop just talking about Spock! And then the followup book I AM Spock in which he admits that he was integral in creating the character and the character in turn had changed who he was and for the better so if that was his legacy he was proud of it.
Funny guy, clever, sweet, talented actor, writer and director. I can't help but think of the Kirk line: "of all the souls I have encountered in my travels, his was the most... human."

Heard about it on Reddit. A real shame, honestly. His last Tweet is especially somber :'(

I haven't heard one person say "Oh no the voice actor for Sentinel Prime!"
Sure, it wasn't Fiddler on the Roof, but he brought some gravitas to the part.

That hit me hard when I heard the news. :'(
