Title: The Future
Post by: Kamina on December 31, 2014, 04:03:40 PM
Being the youngest one on the forum means I don't know a lot. I don't know much as all you other furs. But I know for all of us 2014 was a good year. But what about the future? What does it have planned for all of us? For example, The U.S Marine Corp. just recently finished a fully operational laser beam defense turret on there most recent battleship. Technology is running the world right now. But I have a question for all of my furs. What do YOU think the future has in-store for you, and your country?

I think America will soon become a corrupt country if not already then will show its corruption. As for my future I don't know.

Hopefully, I can join the US army as an engineer officer, of the Sapper variety. Though flying an attack helicopter seems really cool. Oh well, I've got a while!

I hope America get's its act together soon, can sometimes be embarrassing to live here.

For myself though I'm really hoping the future plays out well.  I'm starting schooling this year to get a degree in aeronautics and become a pilot.  Should be an interesting year to say the least.

As long as I achieve immortality I'm cool. Bring on the brains transplanted into cybernetic bodies.

I first read as "technology is ruining the world" both are true though.
My plan for the immediate future is to hone my survival skills to hike the Appalachian trail my 2016.

haha, "will soon become", as far as countries go America is pretty corrupt today xD Problems with having a free market I think

Well, you can never predict the future really, all predictions turn out to be different but here is my guess

  - With the recent terrorist attacks, Islamphobia becomes stronger around the world, the publicity and hate may actually fuel more attacks, and a new age of terrorist fear will be among us. Get ready for more police and governmental powers as a response.
  - Some cool neat technologies will hit the market. Wireless charging, google glass, self driving cars, these things will eventually ease into commercial markets. Computers will still follow Moore's law and so will get exponentially faster and in general things continue to be getting more mobile. Though I think with the recent trend of emerging technologies, the age of mobilization is nearing it's end as we've become as mobile as we can get (this will increase but at a decreasing rate I mean). I think we could perhaps be entering a new technological age of autonomy, where the idea of robots doing things with little interaction of a human is the industries focus. I get this idea from Amazon Echo and Google's self driving cars.

Those are the only predictions I can really come up with atm.

I have to disagree, but I know that news media which gave birth to the neologism definitely continues to sell that belief. As many people of course, buy into whatever they hear from a news source that says indirectly "Be concerned, be concerned!"

I think Canada will keep on keeping on, and that's a very Canadian perspective. We will just continue to kind of be here. People can fight wars, debate giant geopolitical issues. In reality, we're just too far out of the way and too complacent for anything to bother. :/

I got a promotion and have lots of things I'm getting into. Also renting my very first own apartment without roommates or anything come February. So that's pretty exciting!

Hey Arco!!
Only my second day here and I've already found a fellow fur-pilot XD we should go on a xc together to build some hours.

If I had a say in the future, it would be to shift focus towards space exploration and expansion. Lately the U.S. has been pretty sketchy in the science department because we don't have incentive to do science anymore. Apparently curiosity and thinking about the future isn't enough to concern people.

I REALLY am looking forward to the exploration of Europa which could potentially yield life. I think it may be launched within the next couple decades.
I'm also cautiously optimistic about the evolution of teleportation, seeing as how we've managed to do so with individual atoms.
I'm also anticipating a full-on conversion to electric cars and expansion of light rails, as electric car prices drop, and charging ports become more widespread. The new concepts are controversial for lots of people but I believe the newer generations will be embracing it more.

Self driving cars will either become universal, or will be completely banned, depending on if anything goes wrong in their first 2 or 3 years of operation.

I think it's literally impossible to out-stupid the drivers here in Seattle. If self-driving cars caused 10 casualties per day it would be an improvement  XD

trouble is the media wont care, if even 1 person dies of self-driven car malfunction (or stupidity for that matter) it will be front page news across the country, (or possibly just the state in America, cos America is big  :| )

well in my future I hope to be involved with the furries around me and I hope to find some mates and just be happy.

as for the future of America? All countries and nations rise and fall, America will be no exception. One day it will crumble and fall away and it will be replaced or reformed, just like every country ever. Do I think that it will happen soon? Not likely at all. Eventually though everything will collapse and replaced with something different.

and super in the future the earth will be devoid of life. Not to sound pessimistic or down, I find it beautiful that we play our part in nature and the universe. How amazing it is to be part of this amazing scene.

I like to think that change comes largely generationally; i'm seeing a shift towards open-mindedness, which is definitely the direction we need to be in right now. The less time we dwell on petty things, the more time and resources we can dedicate to more pressing matters. As for science, NASA has been receiving 0.5 cents on each tax dollar, and look what they have accomplished with that. Increase their budget to 1 cent per dollar, we double their budget, just imagine what happens. But yeah, the U.S. government is corrupt and really being a drag. I believe we had an opportunity to build a giant particle accelerator in Texas that would be many times larger than the Large Hadron Collider, and the largest in the world, but it was turned down because "it was a waste of money". Yeah because I can't think of anything else we are involved in that is throwing money down the drain... -.-

Let me answer that with my own look at things :)

I cooperated my vision of the future in to my Fursonas story :3 and i you don't know that then let me tell you some of the technologies that exist in my Sonas story (year 3088)

Nano Technological machines have advanced to create self aware AIs and Robots that can think on its own

Plasmedion Technology is a Thing made from raw Plasma one of the warmest thing seen to in the universe and in the story they use it to create power

Also magnetic energy and Kinetic magnetism made Flying cars and object movers possible :)

And there is lots of other things made possible by nano and magnetic so as plasma technology :)
