Hey all you fellow furry friends! I just wanted to take a poll to see how many people have been bullied for being a furry.
-
I've been, my friends don't like furies have made fun of me for being one. I just try to shut it out since I love the fandom :)
-
At 6' 1" and 237lbs i tend not to have bullying problems
-
Ive been bullied before when some people found out I was a furry.Well shame on them because they will never get to met the true people we really are.
-
I was bullied for a few years. I managed to stand up to him though. He's a right ass, but he's in America now or something like that.
-
I've never had a problem with it, but I'm also not "openly" furry.
I don't suit or wear anything that makes me stand out as a furry, but I've also never denied it when I've been asked if I am.
It also helps being on the "I'm bulky, and know how to hurt you" side.
-
Wish I was one the "bulky side"hehehe, but i have my friends and thats all I really need. ^_^
-
Being a veteran and the fact that I'm 6'2" and around 250lbs, I don't see much at all.
-
^lucky! I was always bullied in school. That is until a nice girl in NC taught me how to fight. THANK YOU, LUCANNA!
-
well i was bullied so much in school half the things that have been tried on me can shock you i wont say to much about one because it wont be forum friendly very much but lets just say it was not a good thing to do in a wood workshop and i wasn't hurt but i was kicked from the class because i was made out to be the one doing stuff and then this is a classic a teacher for 3 years tried to make me leave the school i graduated got my cert and that teacher left and trust me they took the laptop the school supplied to me so i took my own even tho they tried to take it from me they knew i was stubborn so in short yes i was bullied and no one knew im a furry
-
Well cause I'm in university, people in this culture are more into experimenting and experiencing with life, so being a furry is not exactly too unusual, it is but not enough to get bullied about it
-
I never got bullied, mostly because I went to the right schools. Although, it might have been because I talked about guns a lot. I don't know. But in my current school, Terra environmental research institute (you might see em at VEX competitions, look for the lemons) , bullying is nonexistent. Hell, the worst graffiti I've seen was on one of those "hip tips" it said "respect sexual orientation" or some such, and the graffiti said "and gender identity!" With little hearts and stuff.
-
I've been bullied by my mom, dad, step mother, well... Just about everyone I've met. Not for being a furry, but a Transgender Girl. I'm feeling kinda hopeless tbh.
-
Nobody should ever go through bullying, much less from their own family. Just know someone is out there that can help take away your darkness and make you feel better.

It must be hard to be furry in America, knowing how much crap comes out from television about our fandom, and even how much the internet talks horribly about it.
I live in France, and luckily people don't know them that much. The term "furry" is used for cosplay like tails or ears.
Only a few people who watched that "Salut les geeks" video featuring one psychopath pretending to be furry in a very disturbing way, think of this community as weird.
But thanks to the members of the french fandom, that are great phylosophists and excellent at explaining things to other people, the fandom isn't seen as badly as in other countries. In fact, all of what people know about furries is their weird animal costumes and meet-ups.
People just get on with their lives and leave furries to their furry activities, without making a big fuss about it. When someone hates one furry for some reason, they only hate on that person, they don't start hating all the other people associated with the fandom.
I don't get bullied or teesed at school, just got a few remarks from two idiots who like to mock people just because they don't like the same things as them.
-
I've never been bullied for it in real life since I'm not open about it. but I have been bullied on steam and such. I even got ddosd for it once.
-
I haven't been bullied for anything in years... I'm not physically imposing, but apparently I have a threatening presence, because people I dislike or who dislike me have a tendency to be scared of me.
-
I haven't been exactly bullied for being a fur before. I've definitely been bullied many, many times through my life however.
Hmmm... two weeks ago I went on a class trip with three of my peers. Some how fetishes became the topic while we were in this
tiny van driving back home. >.> I suppose you can guess what happened next. One of my classmates knows I'm a furry and she thinks it's neat, however one of the other girls brought up furry being a fetish. My friend then replied Ashley is into that. :/ I then had to explain to my classmate that it isn't a fetish, it's a hobby. She then yelled "it's a lifestyle!", which I replied with, "No, it's a hobby, sort of like you're supernatural roleplay seems to be a lifestyle, but it really isn't." lol It's a long story, but she can't live without checking her phone/computer every 10mins to see if her roleplay has refreshed. I'm okay with roleplaying, but geez she was annoying and that was the only thing I could think of to say.
Sorry for the rant. haha. Just wanted to share my one experience.

i think that if your openly fur long enogh youl be called a fur-fag at least ten times. i'm up two 2 now
-
at college I got beat up once for wearing a collar
-
I was kinda an anti bully in school i was part of the cowboy group and bulling wasn't something we tolerated, people made alot of comments behind our backs about us hanging with the nerds and stuff but they never had the spine to say it to our faces
-
wow That is really cool. I know I would join a group like that
-
never in real life but online....
- how everyone on some forum i was on got bent out shape when i used a furry pic as a avatar.
- having deal and put up with anti furs on FAF who do nothing beyond than bash and attack.
i was gonna do more but that the best i can remember.
-
Actually, I am not bullied for being a furry, or gay, but for being an Atheist.

I'm sure everyone gets bullied online. I got in a argument with a guy once because he didn't like how I shipped Lara Croft with a girl. I guess some people just want to watch the world burn @.@

I just ignore it when i get comments like that now. also reddit is horrible for getting comments like that, like that one time i had a PC elitist demanding that i should give up my consoles because i said i may give PC gaming a try. also on gamefaqs had a another idiotic pc gamer who said to that he could get tlou running on a pc with 256mb of ram along with similar gpu even though i knew it would fail.
-
Speaking as a PC gamer, the issue is that a lot of us are irritated that many large company's don't take into account the fact that PC's outstrip consoles spec wise. (I believe this is still true even on the next gen consoles). and so if you exclusively PC game (Like me) the main effect consoles have for you is a ton of awful ports
Of course these people ignore the other advantages of a console, mostly because we don't have them. so they end up seeing consoles as a purely bad thing. While I don't own a console, I understand why some my prefer them despite the inferior hardware. (For a start you know that the hardware WILL work with any game, unlike on PC where it is always a bit of a gamble)
((I am talking about gaming PCs here, PCs not built for gaming generally have issues running modern games))
Not trying to justify their behaviour, just shedding some light on why some of us are such pricks at times :/

note da some

Ima never been bullied about being furry. Sinilar to Twilight, I'm feared in a way, though being just about the second to shortest person in 7A. People know that I don't liked being touched harmfully and that I WILL react. They don't really fear me, but know that I'm some kid that can be stomped on.
Turns out I wasn't rejected. Go figure.
-
Eh, I've never been bullied for being a furry. Though my size, build, being on a varsity Lacrosse team and the fact that I've been doing MMA since I was in 6th grade that had a lot to do with it. People never really tried getting on my bad side. Except for the Philips twins, god, they get under my skin, but they just end up running away right after they say shiz.

I have only ever been bullied maybe a few times throughout my life and it wadnt even about being furry but once i hit highschool everyone backed off and havent had a problem since, better to be feared then respected? I prefer both
-
Yes I have been bullied a bit for being a fur but that would not be that bad for me if I had not been bullied for 6 straight years through elementary and middle school for being myself so its left a scar persay...
-
As for using forums or being online here a few i don't use/or go near because of how bad the community is or can be.
sofurry - the worst was when i had deal with a mod who took a full blown tantrum when told him do more about a nasty member i hated since giving him warnings was not working and the same mod started giving me empty ban threats because of that.
it just bugs me - got banned from there because a mod twisted the fact i was new to using forums and had poor grasp of using email into that i was a spam troll. most of users there are the sorta idiots that think using autism as a insult is something to be proud off while others come off as hostile and nasty weirdos.
-
well I hope you have a better experience here .

well I hope you have a better experience here .
I mainly came here because of it being bigger and having more content than the other furry forum i was on which came off dead because of how small it was. also because i lost two accounts there because they changed forum software allot.
on sofurry i was basically told GTFO by the mods there when told them do more than just give one nasty member warnings since it was not working. when i reported one mod for basically insulting and mocking me in one PM when i deleted a thread because users were being dicks, the head mod demanded a apology. also the worst thing i saw i was a thread made by someone who was clearly mentally ill were it was filled to the brim with users attacking him and giving threats because they were to thick to get that he was mentally ill.
as for ijbm what bugged me is how the mod who banned me seem think me asking why i was banned and giving him proof i was innocent was me using a troll tactic on him. the beyond the lampshade userbase were no any better they attack me for being a fur which got old very quickly, they have no idea how keep users without being douches to them and much more.

I only very recently (in the last few days) came out about being a furry. Because of prejudice I received throughout my life, especially in school (in the form of bullying for being different and more free spirited) I never had the confidence in humanity (even my friends) to express myself, so I always kept it hidden. My last girlfriend was also very emotionally abusive and did a lot of damage to me in that regard. She used to bully me because when places under pressure I would sometimes break down and instead of backing off, she would make fun of me and call me cruel names. :'(
That person is now well out of the picture, and my current girlfriend is very understanding and non-judgmental, which was why I finally came out about being a Furry (for the very first time in my life) and am now here to continue working on being less shy about my recently discovered furreedom.
-
Never in my life have I had someone openly bully me for being furry in a specific and antagonistic sense. I've had people make jokes about it and attempt at bashing me for it, but never to the level of bullying. People tended to focus more on my sexuality in my younger years, and by the time I was older, I stood up for myself to the point where no-one bothered me anymore. So, no.
-
Can't be bullied if I live in isolation
